I was recently reminded not to take anything for granted . Many years ago when I was young I had a very close friend , we were best buddies for about ten years . As often happens , our lives took different turns and we lost touch . He was also a good friend with my dad and my dad actually helped him in his career .
My dad is very ill now and coming to the end of his life, he's 76 this August if he gets there . As we do sometimes , I was thinking about his up and
coming funeral and the fact that there would be a lot of people attending and I thought of my old friend . He would definitely attend for sure . I started to look forward to seeing him , giving him a hug , finding out how his family were, talking over old times etc . It would be a bright spot in an otherwise sad day .
My old friend , Peter , aged 61 , died in May . I was devastated .I had been so looking forward to seeing him . My dad was shocked and upset .
We really do have no idea what is going to happen in this life , it's like a handful of rain .
Jaz, I somehow missed this post of yours a week or so ago. How hard it must be to have looked forward to reuniting with this friend and then hear of his recent passing. I am sorry for your loss. I hope that your father's last weeks bring him to peace with God and a hope in the eternal life we can have in Jesus.
Yes ,i understand Jaz ,i recently lost a trusted friend this last week or more.I knew she broke her hip,but had thought she would bounce back.Well she obviously didnt and i now have the regret of not immediately trying to reach out to her when i had been told she got hurt.My point is that i broke my own cardinal rule ,never put off calling your family or friends and telling them you love them, tomorrow may never come for them.I knew this in my heart but have been so self absorbed due to my depression. My deepest sympathy to you on the passing of your friend.Do you know if he knew the Lord?
Dear Brother , these are exactly the things that can get us down and that's when the devil himself will take his chance to prey on us . He likes to sneak up on us when we are vulnerable . This is why , when we start to feel a bit vulnerable , for whatever reason , we must cling tighter to the Truth , we must read more and pray more .
How did Jesus fight off the claws of satan ? With the word of God , if it worked for Jesus we can be sure it will work for us .
God knows our hearts and He knows when we are hurting and why we are . He is just waiting to comfort and strengthen us . Never be afraid to pour your heart out to Him ,His love is pure and it's all for us .
Sadly my friend was not religious , however , God was kind enough to grant him a peaceful death in his sleep . God is so kind , we must thank Him every day . Stay strong and know that God sees you . He is with you all day every day .
