My husband's family once hailed from Lantwitt Major on the Bristol Channel. They were not original of Welsh descent being from Normandy but the person who first lived in Landoff, Wales was the first Norman Bishop Urban. He married a Welsh woman, daughter of Gruffydd. His descendants settled in Lantwitt Major and some remained there until the 1600's. From there they went to Sedgeborrow, Eng. and then to Massachussets Bay Colony as among some of the first settlers there in the 1630's. Many of this person's relatives also settled in Fair Haven, CT, in New Jersey, New York, Maryland, Virginia, Rhode Island during the 1600's.
The area of South Wales is very beautiful from what I have gathered.
