My mom is due to pass away in the next 24 hours as she is unconscious; on oxygen and morphine for end stage cancer. There was prayer given Saturday for her soul after a contentious time she hurled accusations against me and was fighting against the inevitable. All evil presences were prayed against since she doesn't know the Lord as far as I can tell. I was able to make amends with her and she probably forgot what she said the other day after I had to take a break for a while from the house while she had caretakers. Pray my dad can process this; he seems to be doing well with that despite his dementia.

    Thanks. Rich P

    Dear Richard,

So sorry for this sad time. I will be praying or your mom and for you and your dad. I am glad you shared this with us. We love you and know that these past few years have been difficult for you and your parents. Stay focused on how great God is. I do think that the Holy Spirit does still work in the hearts of those who are dying even when unconscious. I believe that He continues to make His appeal to the spirit of the one dying until the end. So, even when we cannot communicate and share with the one we love, the Holy Spirit works far better than we can, bringing gospel truth to their spirit until the last. You have shared the gospel hope with your mom again and again. The Holy Spirit uses what you sowed. We will not know the outcome this side of heaven, but we can be confident that God gives her many chances to receive Him. She is truly in God's hands, as all of us ultimately always are since He is sovereign over all. Be comforted tonight and tomorrow. You have been a good and loving son to her and have tried to obey God for her sake. May you be blessed richly in this time of sorrow.

    Richard,

    Pt. 2

That being said, as long as your Mom still has breath and life, God can regenerate her any moment so we continue to hope and pray for this to come to pass.

May the Lord bless the prayers that are made or her to cover her with His grace and mercy in these last hours. I hope you are holding up o.k. This is such a hard thing to experience. Blessings to you today and always.

    Richard,

I have been keeping your mom and you and dad in my prayers these past few days.

Today when I was thinking of you and your Mom I remembered how great God is. He is the Greatest of all. He is greater than all evil and those who do it all put together. Therefore, nothing or no one can have any victory over Him. All the forces of the evil powers and authorities acting at once against God cannot overcome Him. His power is unlimited and extremely, infinitely capable of defeating opposition and sin.

I wanted to share this with you because the situation you are in and the gravity of your mom's condition can bring doubt in His ability as well as His compassion. He has perfect wisdom, will, and ways, so we can entrust any situation to Him and cast all of our burdens upon Him. He will carry us through to a good end.

As for your Mom, be assured that God has reminded her of the gospel message, continually calling her by the gospel truth to turn to Him and believe. If she does believe, it is because God elected her to be so blessed. If she does not turn and believe it is because she continues in rebellion against God. It is certainly sad to be facing the latter possibility for your Mom but you can know that God has done what is right in her life for He is ever holy and righteous.

These thoughts have always helped me when I have faced the death of one I know, knowing that this person has not professed faith in Christ as far as I know. I trust that God who is the judge of all, will be just and do what is right and good. That brings me with a sense of reverence before Him with a challenge to truly love Him, His ways, and His workings in the lives of each person more than any person I know. And it challenges me to trust God in all things, but especially with those who refuse to turn from rebellion and trust in self to Him. He takes no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but He does let some people die in their sins without salvation.

    strong city.

For I said in my haste, I am cut off from before thine eyes: nevertheless thou heardest the voice of my supplications when I cried unto thee.

O love the LORD, all ye his saints: forthe LORD preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.

Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD.

May you sense very strongly the Lord's Presence & Comfort Richard, at this very heart-rending time. Continuing to pray that that spark of Light & conviction may still take place in your Mom, as also for your Dad. The LORD is able to do above all that we ask or think. We can truly rest in Him & be confident in His never-failing Love for your family and for their very real needs, more so at this time. The LORD bless & strengthen you for the special time you have with her now & for the days ahead.
