My discussion about the predestination, the following scripture was presented:
Back to the parable of the 10 virgins, Matthew 25:1-12Matthew 25:1-12 (KJV)
Some time ago it was shared with me that if a person understands the natural then they can relate it to the spiritual.
The virgins not having enough oil is symbolic of they didn't put in the work to make it and now want to take from someone else, when they had ample time to trim their own lamp, especially since the bridegroom's appearing was delayed. The virgins were going to a wedding, and they appeared to have brought what they needed but they didn't do the work to be fully prepared to attend the wedding, it seems somehow they weren't willing to do what it would take to be prepared to attend the wedding. it's like coming to work without a uniform, they're not going to place you behind the counter, right?
So, based on the natural events about a wedding in today's time, and scripture indicates that there is nothing new under sun. The questions I ask:
Were not the 10 virgins expecting to attend a wedding?
Were not the 10 virgins wanting the wedding to take place? [Jealous with a capital "J:"]
Were they expecting the bridegroom not to show up for some reason? [bride wasn't a virgin?][other gossip?]
Were the 10 virgins not wanting to be there? [Haters?]
Were the 10 virgins hoping that the bridegroom would change his mind, and perhaps consider one of them? if so, no need to trim a lamp, right? [Reluctant]
Were the 20 virgins in total there to support the impending marriage or did some have some other personal agendas?
By the 10 not trimming their lamps they made it about themselves (self got in the way, again?),
When people get together, especially weddings and funerals there is USUALLY drama...
We can note that the old scriptures testify to drama concerning a marriage, when a man wakes up the next morning and finds out that he married someone other than who he intended to marry. Genesis 29:23-25 (KJV)
I need to correct something in the discussion of the 10 virgins, 5 were wise and 5 were foolish.
"And five of them were wise, and five were foolish." Matthew 25:2 KJV
Then I mentioned 20 virgins in total, there were only ten virgins in total:
"Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom." Matthew 25:1 KJV
In discussing predestination I could also discuss further the 10 virgins, 5 being wise and 5 being foolish (this is a parable).
I used the free bible dictionary on this website and entered the word parable at the Search the Definition box and it listed a reference for this scripture about bride:
"Frequently used in the ordinary sense ( Isa. 49:18; 61:10, etc.)." The relation between Christ and his church is set forth under the figure of that between a bridegroom and bride ( John 3:29). "The church is called "the bride" ( Rev. 21:9; 22:17). Compare" parable of the Ten Virgins ( Matt. 25:1-13).
Then it also provided a link to explore bride more in depth in the bible.
So in my previous post, I would only ask of the 5 virgins that were foolish, if they were jealous, hating, being reluctant or some other foolish act or intent, because if the bible says you are wise then you are wise and wise people do righteous things for this parable. In everyday life even wise people make mistakes however in the bible when a person is referred to as wise then that settles it, they are wise, without question, then also the foolish are foolish without question.
In terms of a wedding setting, what types of foolish antics could be present. For instance in the parable:
Not having enough oil in the lamp, that was foolish
Wanting the wise virgins to provide oil and not caring or unaware that it was not enough oil for both, that was foolish
Expecting to enter the wedding without enough oil in the lamp, that was foolish
At midnight light is needed no one will be allowed to sit in the dark at the wedding.
