How old was Adam when god made him.
  • S Spencer - In Reply - 11 months ago
    Hi Kstott.

    Good question!

    I personally believe Adam was a one-day-old full-grown man.

    God bless.
  • Chris - In Reply - 11 months ago
Nice answer bro S. Spencer; never thought of describing Adam as a "one day old full grown man". The narrative & specific descriptions given of him & Eve lead us to understand that they were mature people who could tend to the garden, procreate & have the capacity to make decisions.

    Amen Brother Chris!

Is anything impossible for God? "And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham." If God in His holiness concieved Adam to serve as a double do you see him walking on fours before he can take a spade in his hand?

Evil was in the angelic revolt. But holiness of God does not have to know evil since His power and wisdom knows where to draw the line. Evil is in the heresy that fall of man created.

There are two ways of knowing evil .

The first and fatal way is to do evil .

The second is by knowing or understanding what both are .

In all probability it was wisdom that dictated that God should plant two trees in the midst of the garden . The tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil .

God created man in His own image and gave him the perfect liberty of a child of God and wrapped up in that great truth that " man created in the image of God is another great truth ." Man shall not live by bread alone but by every Word that proceedeth from the mouth of God "

Thus God gave man the perfect liberty to eat of every tree in the garden that was good to eat which included then the tree of life .The only tree forbidden to eat of was the tree of the knowledge of good and evil "By that Word that came out of Hods mouth as to what was good to eat and what was evil to eat they lived . It was in rejection of that Word of life and believing the lie " thou shalt not surely die" that they died .

For in believing the lie her perceptions were changed to see it was " good to eat"and her reasoning was also corrupted in that she reasoned " it wouod make her wise " and she did eat . No one sins alone but always brings others along . Adams sin was worse he loved her more than God and obeyed her rather than God and he did eat also and in doing so corrupted all his seed in him .

Thus while man was created in the image of God he is BORN in the image of Adam . " shapen in iniquity".

Thus the image of God was lost or so marred by sin and the fall it is now unrecognisable .

God has not changed nor His ways.

The last Adam who was and is "the express image of the invisible God" came to seek and to save that which was lost .

Thus we MUST be born again "not of corruptible seed but the incorruptible seed which is the Word of God ".

And truly we do not live by bread alone but by every Word that proceeded from the mouth of God and " by practice learn good from evil

    Hello Gerald,

Thanks for this post. I concur with all you've said here.
  • Bennymkje - In Reply - 11 months ago
God planted everything good in the garden. He placed Adam there so House rule #1 :The will of God came first. The evil was not in the tree of good and evil. Had he worked with God he would have known better. Without truth as the touchstone how shall anyone determine what is good or evil? The serpent beguiled Eve to see the commandment of God from his point of view.
  • GiGi - In Reply - 11 months ago
    True, Bennymkje,

The tree was truly good, but the evil came with the disobedience along with the condemnation.

Everything God created in the Garden was good, except Satan when He entered the physical realm in order to corrupt mankind made in Gods' image.

As I said " Man shall not live by every tree that was good to eat but by that word that came from Gods mouth as to what was good to eat and what was in effect evil to EAT .

It was the tree of the knowledge of good and evil .

God Himself told them or gave them his knowledge as to what was good to eat and what was evil to eat and by His knowledge they lived .

And God said ".. for in the day you eat of it you shall surely die" .

The devil changed the truth " you shall surely die" into a lie by simply adding NOT " ye shall not surely die ".

But before that Eve had accepted the character assignation of God by the serpent . In so doing it opened the door to the insinuated lie .

In believing the lie she rejected the truth and in so doing became blind to the truth that it was evil to eat and wouid bring her death .

So it was then so it is now for the serpent still adds or subtracts from the Word of God turning it into a lie .

Not that the truth is changed but people are deceived .

When he tempted the ?ord in the wilderness he omitted or took the scripture out of context .It is interesting to note the irate temptation was like unto the very first in the garden but whereas the first Adam failed in a paradise the last conquered ( for a season) in a wilderness .

Now take note when the serpent said you shall not surely die after they had eaten they ' lived' for another 800 odd years but whereas before life reigned now death reigned but God had created man with so much life it took over 800 years for death to manifest itself . And indeed their eyes were opened but not in the way they thought or were ked to beeline for they did not become " like God" but more akin to the devil .

    Children of darkness .

When Baalam could not curse the children of Isreal ( for God had blessed them) he taught their enemy how to defeat them . To get their daughters to marry sons of Isreal and by so doing turn them to idolitory and then God wouid judge them and so it was then so it was .

    Gerald,

May I put your statement in another way? You say,'" Man shall not live by every tree that was good to eat but by that word that came from Gods mouth as to what was good to eat and what was in effect evil to EAT' .The Bible does not say it. You have conflated two passages but it makes a telling difference. How Jesus rebutted Satan is with regards to his physical need in case of hunger. 'Man shall not live by every tree' is not the point but doing the will of God. What did the trees in Eden represent? In the Covenant under third day the quality of the trees of righteousness is stated, " And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good./And the evening and the morning were the third day."

God planted the garden where the quality of 'the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself is about the word of God. "Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever." (1 Pet.1.23) Compare with what Jesus said about figs and thistles. The word is in the heart of man. "But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up." Mt.15.13

There is the seed of the woman and there is the seed of the serpent .

To what shalll we liken the kingdom of God? It is like a good man who sowed the goid seed in his field but while men slept his enemy came and sowed tares "

Given the number of occasions when people of God were asleep when they shouid a E bern awake recorded in scriptures it wouod not be unreasonable to think that Adam was asleep either physically or otherwise when the seroent was sowing his lues in the mind and heart of Eve . His sin was worse than Eves for he obeyed his wife rather than God clearly loving her more than God and in doing so not only corrupted himself but all his seed with him .

The principle of the seed is a foundational one . And in that the serpent has a seed as well as " thec woman" refers to your scripture about what God has not planted etc.

God is a God of order and expecialky in Genesis God lays the foundations of all that follows and it needs careful and prayerful reading and study and it is unwise to read into it tnings before their time .

It wouid be absurd to think God does not know the biology of His own creation so when Hecsaid " the seed of the woman " in wisdom he wished to show that this One ( " it") male ( " he") chiod born of a woman thus whole man wouid not be of Adams seed who was to come and destroy all the works of the devil at thrir root .

The tares it shouid be noted are gathered and tied into bundles FIRST . Thus we have today all sorts of " bundles" gathering together bound together and in reality " ready for the fire".

For even weeds rejoice when it rains .

And when the Holy Spirit was poured out upin all flesh like the rain it reveals of what sort it is and by their fruits ye shall know them and thus of what seed it came from .

Where does it not say it?

For it was in the rejection of that Word of God that came forth out of His mouth as to what was in effect good to eat and what was not and can we say that eating of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil was good to eat? No .

It was the knowledge of good and evil . As I said before there are two ways of gaining knowledge about some poison . Drinking it or by understanding .

God have them HIS knowledge of what was good and evil and by that Word they lived for it kept the, from evil . Do you not remember that throughout the old Testament that awful refrain " and they did evil in the sight of God "

Did not Saul do what was right in his own eyes by keeping the best for sacrifice ut which God had said to destroy all?

And did he not lose the kingdom by doing that which was right in his own eyes .

I think the problem we have is reading the account from after the fall and not by the grace of God looking at things in the order God has given them .

Eve " SAW the tree was good to eat ." And she reasoned thus " it wouid make her wise " and on her own perceptions and reasoning a took the fruit and did eat .

Man has been doing this ever since saying " No God" and doing what is right in his own eyes . " there is a way that seems right unto a man but the ends thereof are the ways of death ".also applies .

I therefore am not taking the scruptures to fit my own thinking but rather to show that God has not changed . For to be BORN again is it not written we " obeyed the gospel"? And lived! Moreover in Christ by "practice learn good from evil ".
  • Gerald - In Reply - 11 months ago
Thanks for your reply but I must disagree .The principle that " Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God" while stated in the book of Exodus must still stand and be applicable in the garden of Eden even as it was applicable in the wilderness of the Lirds temptations even as it now is applicable first to all man kind but specifically to every true born believer who now lives by the Word made flesh even Jesus Christ . In truth when we are BORN again we have but entered that eternal will of God preordained from before the foundation of the world .Thus in the garden God gave Adam the commandment and the liberty to eat of every tree in the garden which included the tree of life . God did NOT give them the liberty to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil .They had as children of God by creation the liberty to choose from any other tree that was as I said good to eat . They also had the liberty to eat of the tree of Life .

I will say it again that Man shall not live by every tree that was good to eat but by that Word of God that came forth from His mouth as to what was good to eat and what was not or evil . God in effect gave them HIS knowledge of what was good and what was evil and by that knowledge that Word they lived .

Not just by eating of every other tree . Which was their food for the body and life sufficient for sustaining the body .

If they had not eaten of that tree forbidden to eat of it they wouid never have died and wouod still be walking this earth today and the world would be very different .

If Jesus had not given his life a free will offering for sin he would never have died nor could and would still be walking around in the flesh today .

By Adams disobedience not choice all die by Christ obedience even unto death and the death of the cross all shall live .

The sin was of disobedience .

The rejection of Gods Word as to what was and what was not permitted to eat .

Of course you agree or not and I do not want to to repeat myself.

God referred to the death of his soul, Gerald. What was Adam but created in 'our image'? What was he 'after our likeness' but a living soul? The Word set Eve as the body of Christ. So the deep sleep of Adam foreshadows the death of the Son on the cross.

God did not have to breathe into Eve to make a living soul. The creation of Adam compares with Christ as the only begotten Son meaning he was the Word become flesh. Here what was the significance of the blood? In the eternal Covenant is signed by the blood. The Lamb slain before the foundation implies blood shed on the cross: 'for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul."(Lev.17.11) Adam waking up declares she is the bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh. God closed the flesh and it tells uus that there is none other than Jesus."for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."(Acts.4.12) The Word is settled forever in the heavens so in the Will of God it is as good as done.

All judgment is given to the Son. The day is yet to come.

Soul of Eve was already in Adam who is after his likeness so the Spirit gives us a dry run of Jesus Christ. "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."(Jn.10.10)

I'm assuming your first phrases were mistakes?

Man was created in the image if God but is BORN in the image if Adam .

That image of God is lost or so marred by the fall and of sin it is no longer recognisable .

Which is why we " MUST be BORN again" not if that corruptible seed which is of the first Adam but if the incorruotable seed which is of the last Adam .

For Jesus speaking of Himself said " Unless a seed of wheat fall into the ground and die it abideth alone but if it die it brings forth much fruit" what sort of fruit? After its own kind.

That image of God then is restored for Jesus being the express image of the invisible God came to seek and to save that which was lost . If any man standing before Almighty God then finds himself in hell it will not be so much because he has sinned ( for all have sinned) but because the image if God was not found in him but bore the image of his true father and is rejected .

The creation of Eve from the body of Adam is a foretelling of the bride of Christ who will come out of the general body of the church . For the church is it not Christ body? If then Eve came from the midst of Adams body so likewise the Bride of Christ will come from the midst of the body of His church .

It is the " high calling" which Paul speaks of .

Being BORN again simply qualifies us to " run the race" it does not win the prize .

Being BORN again is getting out of Egypt and the dominion of Pharoah . Heaven is NOT the promised land nor did it take them 50: years to reach it but rather just over two!

But the church ,we have made the wandering in the wilderness the Christian norm! When in fact the wilderness was boot camp ,

It's time to wake up for is it not written about the Bride she will come out of the wilderness " terrible as an army with banners leaning on her beloved".

Read it as a double for his Son.

I understand that Chris. I thought maybe Adam being a man that might of been Thirty-three the same age is Jesus when he died. But if you look at it Adam was one day old from being a man.
