So many names, so many times - and He came through them all. That the King would come from a broken lineage,to make of broken hearts one redeemed Body. 1 Corinthians 12:27
The names that the Gospel of Matthew so carefully preserves - from Abraham to Joseph. There is order there, and purpose.
Ephesians 3:6
Today, we are part of that same body, though in a different way: not by natural descent, but by the faith that unites us to the Son. John 1:12-13
Those who came before prepared the way for the One who would gather in Himself all who were lost. Isaiah 53:5
If the Body of Christ is made up of many members, then the genealogy is like the bone -
the unseen but essential structure of the human body. Each generation upheld the promise - even without fully understanding - until the promise became flesh. 1 John 4:4
For there lies the evidence that the Lord came not through angels, but through people - fathers and mothers,
the righteous and the unrighteous. Matthew 24
If we are His body, as the Scriptures say, then we are also grafted into that lineage - not by blood, but by grace.
Not heirs by right, but by adoption. And that, to me, is the sweetest form of belonging.
The genealogy of Christ is, therefore, a body - and in it, we were placed.
The genealogy of the Lord according to the flesh as it is written and so it was is that of men and women who all were counted righteous because like Abraham believed God .
Despite for instance Ruth being a Moabite of whom it is written will never have any place nevertheless she forsook her people her country and her 'gods' and followed after her mother is found in the genealogy of Christ . The prostitute of Jericho who hid the spies also found grace in the sight of God she too can be found there .
When we obey the gospel and put our faith in Gods good work of Calvary rather than our own works we are " counted righteous" and the Righteousness of Christ is " imputed" to us . Then the Holy Spirit imparts that righteousness by His indwelling and in consequence we begin to do righteous works as we walk in the light .
Mary His mother was a sinner also but she too was counted righteous .But this earthly body is still subject to sin and death so how can she give birth to a Holy child? The blood of any child is determined by the father and the blood of the as yet unborn child is kept completely seperated from the mothers blood for if they mixed she would die.
Jesus when teaching in a house was told his mother and brethren were seeking to talk to Him. He denied his flesh and said " who is my mother and brother etc? but " he that doeth the will of God"
It is easier to understand how I can be His brother if as He taught us " Our father" and can by the grace of God follow Him . But how can I be His true mother?
Mary the mother of His flesh not as some foolishly claim ' the mother of God' received the Word of God " let it be unto me according to thy word" and believed in the promise and in due time brought forth The Son.
He did not bare the image of Joseph but was the express image of the invisible God.
Do not we who are His receive the Word as a seed ( parables) it is conceived gestated and in due time produces fruit ? Or Christ.

Thanks for your help and I agree completely.
