is it not better to have more than enough food in the fridge rather than not enough

is it not better to have enough fuel to get where your going as opposed to not enough

abundance is a Blessed Good thing

Excessive abundance isn't,especially when used incorrectly

its excessive when a person or household cannot maintain it

weather with live stock,vehicles goods etc.if cant be maintained or used,its excessive

ends up damaged from neglect,rust n mold etc.

in this chapter excessive abundance could of been used for the good of others or profit

for same reasons

when managed incorrectly

The sin of Sodom was described as an " abundance of leisure and of bread"!

The last church age the Laodocian church was in her own eyes " rich increased with goods and in need of notning" ThecLords perception of it was quite different ( Rev 3)

Yet the Philadelphian churches perception of itself was they " were poor"The Lords perception was quite different .

"He who was rich became poor that we through His poverty might become rich"

It cost God everything to give us something for nothing . It will cost us everything to keep it .

Was not Paul by his own words poor " but making " many rich?

There is no virtue in poverty nor I are riches in themselves wicked .

It's the love of money thatbis the root of all evil . Not the money itself .

But as with drinking the scriptures do not ban anyone from drinking it per se but it gives many warnings about drinking in access . Indeed it says " be not drunk with wine but be filled with the Holy Spirit ".

A far better 'stimulant ' that " addeth no sorrow" or gives no regrets .

Do we not need enough and a bit more to give to those in need?

There is coming a day when the 'wealth' of this world will be given to others . But Rome made that mistake and like the prodigal son asked for his inheritance before the time and like him has been feeding with the swine in a " far country" ever since .

The balance is a fine one as others have pointed out " you cannot serve God and mammon"

And many a ministry who have " made merchandise of Gods people" have filled their own pockets with filthy money ,it shows .

The widow eho gave two mites gave far more than all the 'rich' who on the face of it gave out " of their abundance" The Lord measured by what was left .she gave all she had .

Lay up your treasure in heaven ,not in the bank comes to mind .

In the world many still believe in the fable that at the end of every rainbow lies a pot of gold!

And many a 'worker' has been chasing that particular dream since the 1920)s .
