    Annotated Gen.5.3 "Twp worlds"

"And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, and after his image; and called his name Seth."

Here the Spirit refers to the role of Adam in naming Seth while in 4.25 it was Eve who names him, "For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew." There is no contradiction since God presents Adam and Eve as of one flesh. "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh."(2,24). This explains Adam God refers the last Adam for the purpose of another seed and it is validated in heaven giving us the firm foundation of the fulness of God in Jesus Christ. A Christian lives in the world of the Spirit and in the world of the body. God hedges him about as he did with Job. We shall see it illustrated in the case of Abel.

God confronts Cain after his brother is slain, and tells him,What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground."(4.10). He is heard so the land of the living tells us what God is. "God is not the God of the dead, but of the living." (Mt.22.32)

Adam sinned and came short of the glory of God. Expelled from the garden he is still of one flesh with Eve. This flesh is called 'flesh and blood.' St Paul refers to it,"flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption."(1 Cor.15.50). Seth stepped in the breach of Abel and the last Adam as the Branch sanctifies a holy family, Thus wherever names are warranted they shall be deemed righteous as Abel was. For this reason in the chapter the Holy Spirit makes distinction as shown below.

" And Seth lived an hundred and five years, and begat Enos:/And Seth lived after he begat Enos eight hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters." (5.6-7)

The voice of Abel being dead but ear of faith is from God, "God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh."

    An addition"

"Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety."(1 Tim.2.15)

The title should read "two worlds"

    Thank you.
