I think he might be referring to what is called the Mishna. The Mishna was a set of 613 rules telling the Jews how to keep the 10 commandments.

Just to add to what Skip replied. An easy way to look over the OT Laws are type in "613 Mitzvot laws" on your computer. There are several websites with them all listed, with their links "book, chapter, verse", in the Bible. Just a little easier to look over them but not every single detail will be written as in the Bible.

They are in Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, it is a long read, it covers what sacrifices are needed and more. They started Genesis 1 and when Noah came off the Ark. I think after you start reading you will recognize them, but if you read these books there are more than the laws in these books.

You'll have to read Exodus, Leviticus and Deuteronomy. This is where God gives Moses instructions for The Jews to live in The Old Covenant. We live in The New Covenant. The Old Covenant rules are not for us. They can instruct us about how God related with His People, The Jews. But we can be instructed by these things.

"Now all these things happened unto them for ensamples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come." 1Co 10:11

Here's what Paul said about the purpose for The Law:

"Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith." Gal 3:24

Hello, I read my morning devotion through "In Touch" by Charles Stanley. Well in today's reading he says there are 613 commandments handed down through Moses. I only ever heard of 10. What am I missing? Can someone refer me to what scripture showing the rest? Thank you, God bless.

The verse states that "every eye shall see Him." So does that mean that the earth is flat?

Well, can you see anything that might be 100 miles away or more. Almost everything that's happening around the world is out of your eyesight, isn't it?

But when Jesus appears, EVERYBODY will get a personal interview.

"For we must ALL appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad." 2Co 5:10

"And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works." Rev 20:11-13

When Jesus returns He will execute judgement. There will be no place to hide. EVERYONE will stand before God.

That EVERY eye will see Him has nothing to do with the shape of the earth. It's irrelevant.

The question is, what have you done with Jesus. Are you trusting in Jesus' death, burial and resurrection to save you from God's wrath against your sin and rebellion?

Hi Wayne, what the Bible says about flat or round earth has been asked/answered recently, but maybe it wasn't yours.

Isaiah 40:22 says the circle of the earth which to me means round as a globe. This is reinforced by anyone who travels and knows they can fly in the same direction and end up where you started. There are other scientific ways to prove the earth is round too which is consistent with the Bible.

The verse you refer to say the 4 corners of the earth. To me, nothing in this verse indicates that the earth is flat. Revelations is also full of symbolism and visions which needs to be taken into consideration.

Hi Mark.. Revelation 21:1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. Isaiah 65:17 For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind. This should be what you're looking for, and there is several more scriptures on this.

Dose the earth really come to a end ond day for all. Like will the earth as we know it disappear?

Yes Johnny, you've understood this verse well. The point was that if we are genuinely concerned for another (whether a homeless person, a minister of God's Word, a poor friend or relative), we will do it quietly, even inconspicuously, because our motive is from love & that the praise from that needy person, goes to the Lord for touching some heart to help another one out. By alerting others to our 'good, generous acts of love' may indicate a false or dual motive for giving, to which the Lord says that you will not receive the praise of God.

Though I think that from your experience the Lord's sees your conviction over this matter & the lesson you've learned, so that God's blessings will be multiplied to you for your consideration of others in the future. Blessings.

So, in verses one and two he is basically saying 'don't do charity to the poor just to increase your public image in front of your peers.' right? So, if you want to donate to the homeless don't go around tooting your own horn (bragging or boasting) to get people to think you're a good guy.

If so, then I am already falling short of God's glory. I did a good deed a while back and I went and told almost everyone about it. I suppose I should repent for this. Great lesson Jesus gave here.

Jesus says that we will live in Heaven if we gladly get executed for him.

We want a lot of things, and they are usually centered on US, or ourselves. God is really trying to open our view to look at others and pray for the needs of others. It is a scientifically proven fact that people gain more when giving than receiving. Sharing what is in our hearts is what he truly wants to hear.

Food & Rainment. God/Christ only states He will provide food & raiment. Apostle Paul as well ( 1st Timothy 6:8)

1st Epistle of Peter is written and starts out stating "to the strangers scattered" throughout... Why?

This is not our world. Jesus states in the Gospel of John 14:3 that He has gone to prepare a place for us and is coming back to receive us to Himself. Again, this is not our home.

Bless you what it is saying is that you don't get so consumed in these thing that you don't seek God's kingdom in your life. Jesus got up great while before day and went into a solitary place and prayed before he started his day off. You have to seek personal needs such as food clothes and shelter. Daniel work was a great man and he put God first. Put God first and he will make sure you have the means to get what you need. Consider What I Say and the Lord Give You Understanding. Stay blessed!

It is a little more complex. What Jesus is saying is God is the great provider. And he is commissioning those to go out and perform God's work. It is not that we should not pursue our personal needs but that God will provide for his children just like he provides for nature. He gives us the ability to work to purchase the things we need. He gives us knowledge to be good stewards of the money we have. Everything we need, God already knows. If we become financially hindered due to the loss of work, God knows and already has a plan for us. We have to listen and use the knowledge and understanding given to us through the word and through prayer. If we are living for God, we will not go hungry..(it may be peanut butter sandwiches) but we will have food. We will have shelter..and we will have clothes.

Psalms 37:25

I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

I read Mathew 6 to say we should not pursue our personal needs, (food; shelter;housing)..Am I not understanding this..?

Enjoy reading the chapter if we put our trust in God. You will be lead astray.

Fasting actually has many health benefits. Your body will enter into ketosis that will in a way purify your body and rid it of toxins and will also burn away fat. It also sharpens the mind. People forget this when they're used to having food in their stomach all the time, but when you go without for a couple days you will find extra mental clarity and sharpness. Conventional wisdom only a decade or more ago claimed the opposite, but experts have recently realized the many benefits.

Why would God want us to go hungry, even for a day? What good does fasting do?
