Note there's 2 parts to this verse,

( a day is with the Lord as a thousand years, AND A THOUSAND YEARS AS ONE DAY.

This verse speaks of his patience, There's no time at all with him.

Read vs 3 on down to vs 10 to get the context.

2 Peter 3:8. But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

Greek:

Transliteration: theaomai

Pronunciation: theh-ah'-om-ahee

Definition: A prolonged form of a primary verb; to look closely at that is (by implication) to perceive (literally or figuratively); by extension to visit : - behold look (upon) see. Compare G3700 .

To often we study salvation scriptures and mercy, grace, we stick to the new testament scriptures to find these topics,

Sometimes it does us well to view the commandments and scriptures out of the old testament to know the Lord, His Holiness and requirements in order to get a full appreciation of that Grace, We will get a better understanding of why Christ came and had to die on the cross for the sins of the world.

Sounds like you're just saying an 'I'm right, you're wrong' argument without even explaining your belief.

Most Christians believe the Bible, including verses like Luke 17:36 that says,

"Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left."

Do you believe Luke 17:36 is true? That is what most Christians define as rapture. The term is simply used as a convenience, but the term itself is unimportant, but the event that the end of Luke 17 describes. Will one person really be taken and one left? Is that scenario true? Yes, it is. The Bible says it is, and not just in one place.

Also, it sounded like you were calling Christians "fools" for believing Luke 17:36.

Are you familiar with this verse that gives a warning of serious consequences to anyone calling others by that name you used?

I errored when I said I believe the battle in Ezekiel is not the same in Revelation, I meant to say I believe the battle in Ezekiel is not the same in Revelation 20, ( after the Millennium). I believe the battle in Ezekiel is before the Millennium.

In Revelation they are gathered from the 4 corners of the earth to Armageddon.

Revelation 20:8. And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in (THE FOUR QUARTERS OF THE EARTH,) Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: THE NUMBER OF WHOM IS AS THE SAND OF THE SEA.

Also notice the intent and the players involved here in

Psalms 83:2-8. For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.

They have taken crafty counsel against thy people, and consulted against thy hidden ones.

They have said, Come, and LET US CUT THEM OFF FROM BEING A NATION; THAT THE NAME OF ISRAEL MAY BE NO MORE in remembrance.

Dear Johnnie, No, it is not permissible to give your tithes to the poor, for the "tithe(s)" belong to The LORD (e.g. Deu. 12:5-7 & 10-12; 2Chr. 31:12; Neh. 10. 37-38; 12:44; 13:5; Mal. 3:10; Heb. 7:5-9).

In the Old Testament, the Levites collected these tithes from Israel to supply their own necessities and for the necessities of the Tabernacle and of the Temple. GOD necessarily required Israel to support the Levites with the tithe because "Among the children of Israel they (the Tribe of Levi) shall have no inheritance" ( Num. 18:24).

In the New Testament, churches collect the tithe from their memberships to support their pastor and other full time church ministers. These tithes remove the pastor's requirement to have to support himself and his family so that he may dedicate his full attention to study, preaching, and evangelism without distraction.

We must not confuse the "tithe" with the "alms". They are not the same. We give alms to the poor when the opportunity arises as our act of pity and mercy (e.g. Ac. 3:2-3; 10:2, 4, & 31; 24:17). Alms are given to the poor in addition to the tithe which we are required to give to GOD.

The Bible doesn't profess a "rapture".

People foolishly like to add to the Bible. How can the Bible define what it is from what's not in its tenants? It can't. It is a foul construct, pushing the earthly boundaries of God's will through false faith.

Of Hebrews 7:10 = Note that Levi's birth, as well as that of the Tribe of Levi, came "out of the loins of Abraham" (v.5). Contrast that with the Birth of JESUS CHRIST. JESUS CHRIST did not come from any man's loins, whether of Joseph's ("as was supposed"; Lu. 3:23) to be JESUS's father, or even of the great Hebrew patriarch Abraham, for JESUS CHRIST is Eternal. Mary actually declared this truth when she questioned her Heavenly visitor (Lu. 1:34): "Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?"

Yet, while Apostle Matthew and Doctor Luke record JESUS CHRIST's human genealogy ( Mt. 1:1-17 and Lu. 3:23-38 respectively), it was actually The HOLY GHOST WHO "conceived" JESUS, The Incarnate GOD "in" Mary ( Mt. 1:20). Furthermore, Joseph literally was not JESUS's father, but rather JESUS was "being (as was supposed) {customarily believed to be} the SON of Joseph" (Lu. 3:23).

Commentary of Hebrews 7:10 (continued) = Language such as refers to Mary as "the mother of GOD" is indescribable high blasphemy, for it falsely describes Mary as an extra-ordinary woman, even on the level of supernatural. In contradiction to this false doctrinal heresy, note Mary's self-description as simply "HE(The LORD) hath regarded {looked upon} the low estate {humbleness; unworthy of any special attention} of HIS handmaiden {literally, a female slave}" (Lu. 1:48).

The angel Gabriel clearly described to Mary of her humble humanity void of any inherent exalting qualities (Lu. 1:28):

"Hail, thou that art highly favoured, The LORD is with thee: blessed art thou among women" (Lu. 1:28).

In the verse above, the word "among" in the expression "among women" qualified Mary as equal to, no better or no worse, than the thousands of Jewish women of her generation. Her only distinction was that The LORD "favoured" and "blessed" her with the grand privilege of carrying JESUS The Incarnate SON OF GOD to term.

Luke 1:46-47 also requires the exegete to consider Mary's praise to The LORD for her own personal Salvation:

"My (Mary's) soul doth magnify The LORD, And my spirit hath rejoiced in GOD my SAVIOUR."

Where do I find the scripture that has to do with "a thousand years is as a day to the Lord"?

I thought Jesus came so we could go up to heaven to be with him? This says we don't go up to heaven.

Hi Lex ,you sound a bit sad and im sorry for you ,please dont be too hard on yourself ,dont give up on God ,He surely wont give up on you ,we are all individuals and God knows each and every one of us even better than we know ourselves , be still and wait for Him ,dont fret ,read your Bible with an open heart and mind ,dont try to understand everything immediately just enjoy it ,pray every day ,even if its just to say "thankyou " to God ,let Him work on you in the way He knows best and most importantly be patient ,He will bring you to Him ,He knows how to do it .

Good Question! It is difficult to know one verse without knowing the context of the passage. Lord Jesus made it in reference to the Communion Supper He instituted with the apostles.

Basically He was saying that He would sup with us again when we are with Him again in Heaven. The communion was given to us to remember the works that Jesus did for us while here on Earth.

One does not get saved in participating in this event as some believe. Jesus gave it as an ordinance to help us remember and celebrate Him.

When the Lord returns for us, we won't celebrate with just wine and bread. We will celebrate with Him in Heaven in a great feast. I pray this helps.

To boil it down even further, we are to love Him, learn of Him, praise Him, and follow Him. Go out and make disciples, baptizing them as Matthew 28: 18-20 tells us too. So when He comes back, we will be found faithful.

Be sensible and work your job. It's okay to have a dream but don't leave your sure thing to follow after fleeting pleasures; in the which most are built upon vain fantasies that may or may not come true. Good reference scripture for this verse is 1 Timothy 8-10 and Proverbs 23:4. Also I think the other translations for this scripture are great in conjunction with this one!

I had some doubts as to whether I believed because that is what I was taught growing up and I was baptised at 15. I have prayed for salvation many times in my life but have also had doubts as to whether I fully believed and was convinced. I also questioned the authenticity and validity of the bible. In trying to research good reasons to convince myself I became discouraged and had a point in time when I was not confident in the Gospel. Yet I thought that losing faith or having any measure of doubt or unbelief would be falling away. I later apologized to God and am not sure if I have ruined any chance of being forgiven. I thought the Holy Spirit would confirm in my heart that I am still a child of God and that Jesus is my Saviour but it has just been sad and uncomfortable. I reached out to family and to a church. The church my family attends never responded to me. The other church I reached out to informed me that " Mark 9:24 shows that belief and unbelief can co-exist in the same mind and heart." I have been searching for the truth and just want to know if God will forgive me.

Powerful passage, reveals the omniscience of the Lord knowing all that will come to pass.

v 51, 52 shows us in our spiritual state when we are clothed in our own selves and not in Christ Jesus. We are "naked" and have no power against the flesh. We have no testimony no witness for His sake. Even Peter follows afar off. V54

Have you anointed Jesus in your heart as the woman did. She did it in a public forum, before all. I need to pray continually for the grace of God that I stand fast and not deny Him in my daily living amongst men.

It is very easy to praise the Lord and worship Him amongst the believers in church and fellowship, but I need to be faithful even amongst the unbelievers and deniers of the faith.

Though there are many areas of the faith, doctrines, that we may not agree on; let us pray for each other and lift each other up to the throne of grace. Let us pray even for the people God has placed over us in positions of authority. ( Romans 13: 1-5, 1 Tim 2:1-6; 2 Peter 3:9)

Let's lift up the current administration, President Biden, in Christ Name. Those who sit on the bench of the supreme court and of course our 100 senators and 441 (or so) house representatives. (435 stated elected, and 6 from the territories and common wealth of the USA). Sorry for the civics lesson. Pray for your own local state leaders.

Key word here is to "Watch." V33, v35, v37. Many things will come to pass. We are to be diligent and study, make disciples, pray, and worship. Know that the coming of the Lord is nigh. Study and know the Lord according to Scripture. Jesus is teaching His disciples many things regarding His 2nd coming. This is not the rapture. Two different events.

"And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory."

Study the whole counsel of God not just parts of His Word. If you do not believe in a "rapture" that's ok. If you are pre, mid, or post trib believer; that is ok too. Just rec' and trust the Lord Jesus as your Savior. You'll just be happy that The Lord God knows His Bible and is faithful to His promises. Know Jesus, know life everlasting. No Jesus, No life everlasting.

Watch and be prepared, expecting the Lord's return at any time.

Very many years ago ,when i was a child ,one of the first Bibles i read had this notation in the margin about Matthew ch27 v52&53 , its said "not original " i have no idea which Bible it was ,it might have been a Gideons as my mum worked in a hotel and she stole a Bible for me ! Does any one know anything to back my memory up or am i daydreaming again ? Thanks .

The R.V. doesnt change the text of the A.V. its the notations that change ,for example ,Luke ch3 v23 : And Je'sus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Jo'seph, which was the son of Heli ,

the son is in itallics which means it was added and intetpreted as the son by the translators ,its still as such but the margin highlights it and says ,son-in-law.Hope ive explained this ok .
