Patrick, astrology is 'frowned upon', as by definition, it is the study that assumes and attempts to interpret the influence of the heavenly bodies on human affairs. Man has for eons wanted to have some assistance to forecast the future for himself & the world he lives in, & without the help from the Bible & having faith in a trustworthy, all-powerful God, he has chosen to look to the heavens for signs. This has never worked though helps relieve some short-lived uncertainty to the seeker.

I've read the Bible through and have yet to find the 'science' of astrology in there and helpful to me in understanding myself & my world, both present & future. Only God's Word, without the need of heavenly bodies, discerns our heart, thoughts, & gives us a hope for this life & that to come. True, there are various references to the stars in the Bible (e.g. Amos 5:8, Job 9:7-10; 38:31, 32), but these are referred to as their constellations which God has set in the heavens, but not for the purpose of them directing the affairs of men.

If you're interested (& I don't give full assent to it), there a short study on this by Perry Stone. Once in his Manna-Fest window, find the Topic: The Enoch Cipher and the future cosmic signs of Christ's Return. Here he gives the connection between the specific setting of the constellations and Israel's tribal structure & other details. But even here, the 'science' of astrology & astronomy are vastly different.

Andrew, as you read Psalm 81 (& whenever we read Scripture, we must read it in context to the chapter, book & Bible), one has to ask, "what is God telling Israel here"? He is firstly warning them not to serve any other gods (v 9); He is the God who has kept them & provided for them (v 10). But, as was their usual pattern, Israel disobeyed God & served other gods, the gods of the gentiles around them (vv 11, 12).

So verse 10 is a plea & cry from God to His people to return back to Him & not put their trust in other gods. "...open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it": all that Israel could ever need, God was there to supply them. The picture is of a young bird in the nest with its mouth wide open (I think you have seen such a sight). The little one only knows hunger & that the mother would be around to provide food. So it waits patiently with its mouth wide open in anticipation. So should Israel have considered their God: a God Who knows their needs & WILL provide for them and they should look to Him in great anticipation & love. And this reminds us of His provision for us Christians, as we wait for Him, depending only upon Him for the right & necessary things for this life. So, this Psalm certainly does NOT give us a precept to not wear masks or have our faces covered, with due respect to your pastor. If one is to abide by governmental laws for Church gatherings, I would prefer that believers sat a suitable distance apart & would be unmasked during worship.

The Holy Spirit is God himself, the Third Person in the Holy Trinity. One reason why Jesus had to die is because after his death, 50 days later at the Festival of Pentecost, the Spirit descended upon the Disciples. At that point in time the New Testament Church was born. The presence of the Holy Spirit in a Christian's life is a Gift from God. The Holy Spirit guides, matures, protects, comforts, and bestows Spiritual Gifts to the Sons and Daughters of God.

I may choose answer some questions if genuine. When I do so it's to be helpful, but no one is entitled to others' time and effort. Some questions are easily answered by a 2 second Google search. I think you're the same person who said some political things in a previous thread and your language was a bit strong. I will go ahead and share some verses in case your question is genuine. Matthew 19:14. Matthew 18:3. Exodus 20:13. Psalm 139:13.

Many at Church are choosing not to wear a mask, and for the sake of unity I have taken mine off at times, all the while I think of those I work with by the law, having to suffer in miserable summer conditions wearing a mask to legally complete their jobs (fda food facility) 10 hours or more, and I wish that I again had my mask back on. What is our practice?

Thank you for your reply. I appreciated. I still dont understand you explanation. I am a bit confuse. So

"we must take off mask, our mouth and face must never be covered before God". Is this right? Is this what Psalm 81:10 interpret?
  • Wearing Facemasks at Church on Deuteronomy 30:19 - 5 years ago
Face coverings don't protect the wearer as much as they protect the people the wearer encounters. The apostle Paul summarizes the practical implications of a Christ-like ethic toward others: "Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others" ( Philippians 2:3-4 ESV).

Thanks Betty for that comment from J.C. Ryle. That wonderfully explains the meaning of holiness & that it ought to be the quest & hallmark of every believer in Christ. There's much benefit from meditating on those words & to use it as a mirror to our own walk with the Lord.

The Rapture - the raising of the Church into heaven ( 1 Thessalonians 4:17): is the next event on the prophetic calendar. The Rapture is when Christ comes back and takes every Christian that is still on this earth and resurrects all of those who have died and takes them to heaven with Him. In 1 Thessalonians 5:1-8, Paul expresses that the Lord's return will be like a thief in the night. No one knows the date or time. However, there are several signs of the End Times that we can all be aware of. Events such as earthquakes and diseases, war and dispute among nations, and persecution against Christians are all signs leading to the Rapture.

    SCRIPTURES TO LOOK UP:

    Matthew chapter 24: 1-46

    1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 5:2

    Revelation 1:7, 3:10

    1 Corinthians 15: 51-53

    Mark 13:32

    John 14:1-3

    Luke 21: 34-36; 12:40

    Acts 1: 9-11

    2 Peter 3:10-13

    Hebrews 9:28

I used to think that too, when I was young and troubled. Never occurred to me to look in a Bible for advise.

I studied and was selling people on my CRAFT.

Then someone showed me I had a death sentence on my life for doing it. I was born again. Believe it when I say, demons don't want to let you go. You're only a walking advertisement for Satan. All those people who live their days reading it, will go to hell if they don't repent and turn to Jesus for help getting out of it.

Also, it's a Curse on the Children of deceived parents.

God made ALL of the stars, planets and geometry.

You need to do a scripture search on words like: stars, astrologers, sorcerers, prognosticators, worship of stars. DEATH SENTENCE.

Buy a Bible. It will save your soul.

  • The Godhead Explained - In Reply on Genesis 3:22 - 5 years ago
US is the LET US in 2 of the Godhead scriptures. They were discussing a situation amongst themselves: 3 Persons in the Godhead: Father, Son, Holy Spirit.

    Romans 1:20

For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

    Colossians 2:9

For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.

    Genesis 1:26, 3:22, 11:7; 1 John 5:7

    John 10:30 and Acts 17: 27-30

Write those down. It comes up in conversation a lot.

How do we line up to this confession of faith?

"We believe and confess that God has ordained power & authority, & set them to punish the evil, & protect the good, to govern the world, & maintain countries & cities, with their subjects, in good order & regulation; & that we, therefore, may not despise, revile or resist the same, but must acknowledge & honor them as the ministers of God, & be subject & obedient unto them, yea, ready for all good works, especially in that which is not contrary to the law, will, and commandment of God; also faithfully pay custom, tribute & taxes, & to render unto them dues, even also as the Son of God taught and practiced, & commanded His disciples to do; that we, moreover, must constantly and earnestly for the prosperity of the country, that we may dwell under its protection, earn our livelihood, & lead a quiet, peaceable life, with all godliness & honesty; &, furthermore, that the Lord would recompense unto them, here, & afterwards in eternity, all benefits, liberty, & favor which we enjoy here under their praiseworthy administration."

    Psalms 100:4

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.

    1 Samuel 18:6

And it came to pass as they came, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, that the women came out of all cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet king Saul, with tabrets, with joy, and with instruments of musick.

    2 Samuel 6:5

And David and all the house of Israel played before the LORD on all manner of instruments made of fir wood, even on harps, and on psalteries, and on timbrels, and on cornets, and on cymbals.

    1 Chronicles 15:16

And David spake to the chief of the Levites to appoint their brethren to be the singers with instruments of musick, psalteries and harps and cymbals, sounding, by lifting up the voice with joy.

    2 Chronicles 5:13

    It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the LORD;

    2 Chronicles 7:6

And the priests waited on their offices: the Levites also with instruments of musick of the LORD, which David the king had made to praise the LORD, because his mercy endureth for ever, when David praised by their ministry; and the priests sounded trumpets before them, and all Israel stood.

    Nehemiah 12:36

And his brethren, with the MUSICAL instruments of David the man of God, and Ezra the scribe before them.

    Psalms 68:25

The singers went before, the players on instruments followed after; among them were the damsels playing with timbrels.

    Psalms 87:7

As well the singers as the players on instruments shall be there: all my springs are in thee.

    Psalms 150:4

Praise him with the timbrel and dance:

The holy spirit (Holy Ghost) is in you the moment that you are saved. It guides you and lets you know right from wrong. It don't stop you from doing wrong but convinces you that what you were going to do is wrong. Like a prick from a thorn.

Dear Rick, Yes I believe that The US was purposed by God, for the spreading of the Gospel, where the believer is free to worship God by choice (not baptized into Christianity like some do). Choice takes being instructed in God's call to Salvation in his Son, Jesus. The unborn children and young children remain innocent and are in the hands of the Living God. As parents we are extremely accountable to this work of Life gifted to us. The Gospel message is to call any hearer to come to Jesus, believe and repent. By adding another cause to the Book of Revelation there may be error. The world is dark and getting darker, we can pray and be a light to those that remain in darkness that repentance and faith can be heard and believed and witnessed by Christians who have the Peace of God residing in their hearts. We are off message if we are driving the Gospel message by force of any kind. Perhaps the end of time is near if the Christian has to defend the Gospel by force. The True Christian is to be harmless as a dove yet wise as a serpent. What is the field, is it ripe? Was I not the most vile sinner as Jesus accepted my by faith repentance of all the evil I did against His Holy Will?

    God Bless our meditations.

  • WHY READ THE BIBLE - In Reply on Genesis 7 - 5 years ago
If you bought a 60 inch screen tv, you'd read the owners manual wouldn't you?

You'd want to know what that tv can do?

Same thing. The Bible is the Owners Manual (Jesus). These following scriptures are enough to show that you need to come to know what you have.

Desire the pure milk of the Word. Strong meat belongs to them that are exercised in their faith.

    Matthew 11:29

Take my yoke upon you, and LEARN of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

    John 12:26

If any man serve me, let him FOLLOW me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

    Mark 12:24

And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because YE KNOW NOT the scriptures, neither the power of God?

    Luke 24:45

Then opened he their understanding, that they MIGHT UNDERSTAND the scriptures,

    Matthew 22:29

Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, NOT UNDERSTANDING the scriptures, nor the power of God.

    Luke 4:21

And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

    John 20:9

For as yet THEY KNEW NOT the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead.

Comment: strong meat makes your hair stand on end, your eyes wide and mouth drop, saying: WOW!!

    Hi Jayden,

The Bible is like the instruction manual for life. It's also the most published and read book in world history. It explains Christianity, history, God, and the purpose of life. It is God-inspired and an amazing book how you can read it multiple times and get new information. But it will only be understood by someone with an open mind and open heart who wishes to seek to get to know God.

If you want to start reading, you might consider reading the book of John.

    God bless...
