Death is a common event for all mankind; with the exception of Enoch and Elijah in days of old; and of course the Lord Jesus Himself who bodily resurrected after overcoming death. The quest for immortality no doubt was initiated with the lie of the serpent in the garden after man was given a pronouncement of the death sentence after sinning by disobeying God in the garden eating the forbidden fruit of the "knowledge of good and evil" ( Gen. 2:16-17). This point cannot be overemphasized since spiritual death is implicated; and even those alive without Christ are spiritually dead. Matthew 8:22 states But Jesus said to him, "Follow Me, and allow the dead to bury their own dead."
Nonetheless; unregenerate man cannot accept their actual condition of being dead in sins and trespasses ( Ephesians 2:1) and they certainly don't want to mortify their flesh as Romans 8:13 indicates; because that only comes through the Spirit of God not man's own vain efforts. They therefore focus on the desire to live on forever in their physical bodies; and sadly will eventually accept that which is abhorrent even to natural men at first; technological implants; genetic mutation or more generally selling out to Satan who they believe in vain to be able to deliver on his promises; not to mention actually care about the welfare of an individual.
It is pretty clear that at first; this Antichrist figure will seem like a peaceful individual. He will understand "dark sentences". Let us read Daniel 8:23-25 in entirety: I will have to put this in next post.
Shall we analyse?
Remember the song
Christ is the portrait of God - Colossians 1:15
Before he was born
He did justice and in himself he died
Supremacy and thrones are
They are yours - Colossians 1: 16-17
And that thread that broke
From my soul to God - Colossians 1:21
The holy blood sewed
Christ and his lines of love - Colossians 1: 20
And now a man made I
Can in man see God
Have peace, live, walk and be
Made me a friend in his pouring out - John 15:15
When we were targets of God's wrath now we have Peace with God - Romans 5:1
I have a doubt that you probably theologians (formal or deep self-taught), show me if there is something I missed.
to go to church or not to go to church?
1 Thessalonians 5:11, 1 Peter 4:9, Psalms 133:1-3, Galatians 5:13. all these chapters do not speak of the church that is of my generation, Hebrews 10:24-25 this verse speaks of the mutual congregation.
continuing Romans 12:10, Ephesians 4:32, Acts 2:41-47, 1 John 1:6-7, 2 Corinthians 13:11, 1 Peter 1:22, Colossians 3:16, Philippians 2:1-2, John 13:34, Ecclesiastes 4:9-12, Psalm 55:14. I keep reading and re-reading Romans 12 and I wonder if it's in everyday life or gathered with the church.
Thank you very much!
In John 5:38-40 we have Jesus speaking to the Pharisees.
And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.
Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.
Jesus is referring to the old testament scriptures. The new testament haven't been recorded yet.
I mention this because the old testament/covenant established under the Levitical priesthood was a foreshadowing of the new covenant that Christ brought in on the cross.
So you see, the Gospel of salvation is mentioned throughout the Bible starting with Genesis. Most notably ( Genesis 3:15 )
You may be able to parallel John 5:38-40 with Hebrews 10:5-10.
Here's just a few notable verses.
Genesis 22:16-18.
Galatians 3:6-9.
Galatians 3:16-19.
John 3:16-18.
Acts 4:12.
Romans 10:9-11.
Ephesians 2:8-10.
Revelation 22:17.
I hope this helps.
God bless you.
Ephesians 2:20-22, came to my mind also.
I love the way the writer put it in Hebrews 3:3-5.
Great lesson!
Blessings.
Always nice to hear from you. I can see how you would be reminded of those two verses. It is God who builds the house even though some men over the years have tried to take credit. We are told in Psalm 127:1 that "Except the LORD build the house, they labor in vain that build it.
You brought up 1 Peter 2:5 which speaks of us being the living stones and that we are being built up a spiritual house, and that took me to Ephesians 2:20-22, especially Verse 22. What is being picturing for us is that individually we know that our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. But collectively, we are being shaped according to Peter in 1 Peter Chapter 1, (which you rightly so brought up) that we are living stones being shaped and formed to fit in.
We will eventually be a dwelling place of God in the Spirit. That is, God's presence and His glory will be in the midst of us, radiating out in us, to us, and through us throughout eternity. It will be in the shape of a habitation, or dwelling. And that's what we're being prepared for, to fit into this habitation. And it is God doing all the building!
God bless you also my brother!
Part 7.
Hebrews 4:3 references Psalm 95, which describes the Israelites' journey with Moses through the wilderness, enduring dunes, rocky paths, and scarce food and water. Those who did not remain faithful, trusting in God's promise, did not enter God's rest. This passage stresses faith and the rest God has promised to those who, in faith, overcome the trials of this life filled with challenges, temptations, and struggles.
Revelation 3:5 shows us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. We cannot earn our salvation through our actions; rather, this rest is dependent on accepting the grace and redemption offered in Christ, works that were finished from the foundation of the world.
Revelation 13:7-8 states that all who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. This time is still to come; only true believers will be able to resist this hour of temptation that is foretold in Revelation 3:10. We see this same language in the concept that the Lamb was slain before the foundation of the world.
The challenge and reward are found in Revelation 2:7 and Revelation 13:9-10, "He who has ears, let him hear." We can read and study the Bible without grasping the truth of its message for different reasons, truth comes from prayer. Our ears are connected to our eyes; if we cannot hear, we are also blind.
We have these verses to consider.
Before being ordained, Jeremiah 1:5, Acts 13:48, 1 Corinthians 2:7, Ephesians 2:10, Galatians 1:15
The foreknowledge of God, Acts 2:23, Ephesians 3:9, Colossians 1:26-27, 1 Peter 1:2, 1 Peter 1:20
Predestination, Acts 4:27-28, Romans 8:29-30, Ephesians 1:5, Ephesians 1:10-12
God's plan.
2 Kings 19:25, Psalm 33:11, Isaiah 14:27, Isaiah 22:11, Isaiah 25:1, Isaiah 37:26, Isaiah 46:10, Jeremiah 29:11.
See last part 8
Part 5.
5, And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.
On the surface, it can be seen that Jesus is asking to be glorified by the Father with the glory He shared before creation, indicating the eternal nature of Christ, who existed before time began. Does Philippians 2:6-8 justify this request? Jesus, for His obedient earthly ministry, He rightfully deserves?
Does all of Scripture agree with this? We have these verses with similar wording. Were the things in these verses physically present before the world was? Were they all in the mind, thoughts, and the plan of God? Can we say some were and some were not? Are they confirmation of God's eternal plan and foreknowledge?
Verses that say before the world was, before the world, and before the foundation of the world. God's foreknowledge, purpose, and plan were before creation.
1 Corinthians 2:7 This wisdom is the gospel of Jesus Christ, hidden in the thoughts of God from before the world was. It was ordained from before the world that would be revealed in the fullness of time, as stated in Ephesians 1:10 and Colossians 1:26-27. There are hints of it throughout the Old Testament, but hidden from the Gentile world, it is now revealed through the preaching of the apostles who were with Jesus from the beginning of His three-and-a-half-year ministry, and Paul, after the leaders of Jerusalem said no to Jesus being the Messiah and killed Stephen, Acts 7:54-60.
2 Timothy 1:9 Our calling and salvation are given not by anything we have done or can do to earn. It is according to God's grace and for His purpose. This grace, which was given to us in Jesus, is part of God's plan before the world began, as we see in Ephesians 2:8-10 and Romans 8:28-29.
Salvation through Jesus Christ is available to everyone who accepts it, it is received by faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God alone.
See part 6.
To the contrary, if, when you refer to " unbelievers" you meant the elect of God who have not been converted to the truth, it seems that scripture supports the idea that good works could have a positive affect in their conversion process.
The idea that good works can influence the unregenerate to belief in Christ cannot be supported by scripture. God's Word tells there is none good, and that we are dead in sin unless and until God regenerates them to life as shown in the following verses.
Ephesians 2:1,5 KJVS
And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins; [5] Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
Colossians 2:13 KJVS
And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
Romans 3:10-12 KJVS
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: [11] There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. [12] They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
I apologized for the slow response, this website hasn't be coopertive with me!
Matthew 5:16 is a great example of why we should do good works, because it glorifies God. But that isn't what I meant when I said I don't understand. My question refers to you use of the word "unbeliever" in the context of your response. Please correct me if I'm wrong but I assume when you say "unbelievers" you meant those who are unregenerant.
It seems important to point out that neither belief nor unbelief have anything to do with regeneration. Belief is an evidence of regeneration, not a requirement for regeneration.
Ephesians 2:8-9 says it very clear,
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast."
Ephesians 1:4-5,11 also supoort the fact that man has no part in regeneration. It says "According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: [5] Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, [11] In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
According to the plain meaning of scripture, unbelievers would not believe if they could, and could not believe if they would. Romans 3:10-12 tells us, "As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: [11] There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. [12] They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one."
As I mentioned, Matthew 5:16 is an excellent example why God's elect should do good works, but it has no spiritual affect on the unregenerate.

No, it is not wrong to believe that your are "a sinner saved by grace", even though this phrase is not used in the Bible. As you know, in the Church today we use phrases or words to describe a Truth that is evident in the Bible but not the actual words used. Ephesians 2:8,9 is the Scripture that reflects the phrase "a sinner saved by grace". We could say the same about the Triune Nature of God (otherwise, referred to as the Trinity): where there are many verses that describe this profound Nature yet not using that word, Trinity (e.g. Matthew 28:19; John 17:3-5; 1 John 1:1-3; etc.). We use the word 'Rapture', which is derived from the Latin form from the Greek, which means 'to seize or to snatch' (e.g. 1 Thessalonians 4:16,17). So, there's nothing wrong with using words or phrases not found in the Bible, as long as it correctly & clearly expresses a biblical Truth. But if someone is against using such words or phrases, then I would be equally comfortable in using the direct biblical quotations in lieu.
But the main point of Ephesians 2:8,9 is that our salvation is all of God's Grace & Mercy afforded us - nothing we have done or ever can do could replace or even complement God's Work for us and in us. It is truly God's Gift to us - and a gift cannot be received in exchange for something else, or else it's no longer a gift.
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
In light of yesterday's comments that I posted; surely this verse shows the works that are done with the proper attitude. Ephesians 2:10 describes works prepared for us from the Lord. In short it is His works done THROUGH us and His love should constrain us ( 2 Corinthians 14; also read verse 15). This passage read to verse 21 shows how we then evangelize to reconcile others toward God as we were.
Going back to the moment of salvation; it is rare to hear someone preach the fact these days that we are enemies of God ( Romans 5:10; Colossians 1:21 and many like passages). Someone coming to true faith should have some realization of this; but preaching about only the love of God (and that far short of what "Agape" means much of the time) naturally makes people hearing that message assume that we would fall head over heals for Him; especially if there are no "strings" attached. Being a slave of righteousness certainly isn't too popular either; or frankly the concept that His Spirit "possesses" us. I have emphasized that TRUST has to be there in our walk with Christ for it to be real. That is a crucial link to obedience because to really believe we assent that His Word can be trusted; AND council where the Lord is present is often how He ministers to us through discipleship. That of course assumes we are in a Biblically sound fellowship to begin with; and doesn't mean we aren't Bereans or always trust what any man can say. Nonetheless God has a purpose for the structure of His church and we should trust Him to lead us to such a fellowship and give us opportunities for wise counsel for ourselves as well as us toward others.
Of course we are commanded to love one another ( John 13:34-35). In the fellowship of the saints in particular we should see that if we offend our brothers and sisters we are doing it to the Lord. Sometimes if we don't love fellow saints we need to ask God to give us Agape.
When we were lost , being not saved by believing the gospel of grace, we were part of the world system and was the devil's child.

Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of theworld:

Today, the worldly spirit of Satan is very strong because of cellphone, television and being very busy doing worldly things instead of godly things

But thou hast fully known mydoctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,

Ray, in Christ Jesus 1 Corinthians 15:1-4
Thank you Jesus Christ for my free Salvation by believing only.
As a man, yea as a Son, Jesus now talks to & prays to His Father in Heaven. He also said that He came to only do His Father's Will ( John 6:38), so in every respect, Jesus laid aside His Glory that He enjoyed with & in God, & as a Man waited upon His Father continually.
To the natural mind, how could Jesus be God & then be found praying to & worshiping Him? My answer is that Jesus laid aside that Glory & Position to become a Man, a Man Who came to be sacrificed ( John 12:27), and now a Son, subservient to His Father in all things. So how does God then become a Son? That is why God reveals Himself to us as Father, Son & Holy Spirit - if one aspect of His Nature is removed, I believe that God ceases to be God. Just as if our spirit or soul or body is removed or put to death, we instantly cease to be the person that was once born into the world. God exists as a Tripartite God - He can't exist as any other - that is Who He is (as revealed to us). For our sakes, God chose to take that part of Himself & give it flesh (what we otherwise understand as and called, His Word). This act doesn't render God speechless or in any way deficient in knowledge, for His Word is still active in Christ & by His Spirit. And He has given us His Word (both in Christ & the written Word) & His Spirit, thus causing us to truly become new creatures, alive in Jesus & to be lovingly called, the children of the Most High. What a great privilege - what an undeserved position we have been granted, as those already seated in the heavenlies, IN CHRIST ( Ephesians 2:4-7). And that is how our Father sees us & receives us - His blood-bought, His special children, His Spirit-sealed, forever His - because of His Work alone to ransom us. Onto Page 5.
Because we have Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we are able to communicate with the Father by the Holy Spirit.
Ephesians 2:18
For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.
When somebody tell me they follow the law, I tell them that, I let the Holy Spirit lead me to righteousness.

But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
I will do well with the Holy Spirit and be bless with the fruits of the Spirit.
1 Corinthians 12:7
But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
The Holy Spirit dwells in the heart.
2 Corinthians 1:22
Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.
Galatians 4:6
And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
Having the Holy Spirit living in your heart will make it easy to do rightous while walking and avoiding the fleshly things.
We will always be saved because we are sealed by the Holy Spirit.
Romans 8:1
There istherefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
God knows what we are thinking in our hearts because of the Holy Spirit is communicating with God.
Romans 8:27
And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth whatisthe mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according tothe will ofGod.
Why don't we follow the law ? Because the Holy Spirit has the law for us to follow.
Romans 8:2
For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
Ray, in Christ Jesus 1 Corinthians 15:1-4
2 Timothy 2:15 helped me understand how to let the Holy Spirit guide me in the right direction to rightly divide the Word in the Bible .
2 Timothy 2:15
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
We are not to be buff up with knowledge and brag about it and belittle our brethren to shame, but to love one another in prayer and patience so the Holy Spirit will open the understanding spiritually .
1 Thessalonians 4:11
And that yestudyto be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;
Only Jesus Christ will approve what we do on earth with our bodies.
2 Corinthians 13:7
Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appearapproved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.
Now that we are saved by believing the resurrection of Christ Jesus, plus nothing, we are to be his workman for good works for a reward in the Heavenly Places.
Ephesians 2:10
For we are hisworkmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
I am not ashamed of the resurrection of Christ Jesus.
Romans 1:16
For I am notashamedof the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
Even Jesus Christ divides.
Luke 12:51
Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division:
1 Corinthians 12:11
But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividingto every man severally as he will.
We are to follow Apostle Paul's epistle for doctrine today because he is our Apostle.
2 Timothy 4:2
Preach theword; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.
Ray, in Christ Jesus 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 the doctrine of the grace of God.
Ephesians 2:6 - Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
Who, being in the form of God, and the word being means while existing in the form of God. That's who He is. He thought it not robbery to be equal with God: He did not rob God by proclaiming Himself and presenting Himself as equal to God. So, Jesus is not part of who God is. He's God. That's to highlight His lowliness!
Philippians 2:7 - But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
But made himself of no reputation, literally, it is translated but He emptied Himself. What, of being God? No, of coming here and taking on human flesh. He emptied Himself of the presentation of "I'm God, and I'm here and you should worship me!" His approach to this earthly life in His first time coming here was He chose the low road. When He had a choice, He chose to sleep in the garden.
That is not very enticing for some people to say, "Where does your pastor live." Well, he lives out in the park. "Where was he born?" In a cave. All of the things associated with the Lord's path in His approach to this life was I don't want any glory from man. I don't want to be made a king from the earthly standpoint. I don't want to be treated for who I am. I want to be the servant of all.
God Himself taking the low road!
Philippians 2:11 - And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, and again, that last phrase "Jesus Christ is Lord" in the Greek text, it's literally Lord Jesus Christ. It's not a statement. It's the expression of someone who has a personal relationship with Him. Even after everything is over, people are going to say Lord Jesus Christ. But for some it will be for destruction because they rejected Him in this earthly life. And this is all going to be done to the glory of God the Father.
The word of God is Spirit and is alive. No man can understand God unless they understand the word in Spirit.
John 6:63
It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
Ephesians 6:17
And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of theSpirit, whichisthewordof God:
Jesus Christ is the Word of God.
John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Ephesians 2:2 - Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, and secondly, according to the prince of the power of the air, which is Satan, the spirit that is now working, or energizing in the children of "the" disobedience:
There's a definite article with the word obedience. It is the specific disobedience, the disobedience to God. So, the prince and power of the air is energizing the children of disobedience, the same way it did us.
Ephesians 2:12 - That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
That phrase "without God" in the Greek is ATHEOS where we get the word atheist from. ATHEOS is a compound Greek word, A=Without, and Theos=God. Every person that's not saved is an atheist. They're without God! A person can believe in God, they can go to church religiously, they can read the bible and look and act like everyone else in the church and still not be born of God's Spirit. That person is still considered an Atheist by the literal definition of the word.
Ephesians 2:14 - For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;
For he is our peace, and it is interesting that the word peace here has the definite article. He is the peace. Peace is a person, not a feeling. The word itself, EIRENE, it means to be united. When you're at peace with somebody, you're at one with them.
This is my study of 2 Timothy 2:15 that helped me understand how to let the Holy Spirit guide me in the right direction in true through the Lord Jesus Christ .
2 Timothy 2:15
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
We are not to be buff up with knowledge and brag about it and belittle our brethren to shame, but to love another in prayer and patience so the Holy Spirit will open the understanding spiritually .
1 Thessalonians 4:11
And that yestudyto be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;
Only Jesus Christ will approve what we do on earth with our bodies.
I will pray for you, God bless you and your family.

The Ten Commandments, and most certainly the 4th, has nothing to do with the Church of Christ Jesus. Please consider Exodus 31:12-18. In that passage, there are three distinct occasions where the children of Israel are spoken of & that they alone were to keep the Sabbath Day holy. It was never given to the Gentiles, & certainly not to Christ's Church. True, there were imposter Churches around then as also today, but the marks of their falsehood are not seen in the keeping of the Ten Commandments, rather in the preaching of a defective Gospel and their incorrect understanding and handling of the Word of God.
Where the Decalogue was given to Israel to obey, or where even our Lord told the people to "keep the commandments" (e.g. Matthew 19:17), all was done because the Law was still in force & the New Covenant in Christ's Blood was not ushered in as yet. Once the price for sin was paid & accepted by the Father, only those believing in Jesus to save them from the awful penalty for their sin, could be redeemed, saved, given new birth by the Holy Spirit, and come under the New Covenant administered by the Spirit. 2 Corinthians 3:6-11. The Old has been abolished, which is the Law (contained) in ordinances (Gk. dogmasim) ( Ephesians 2:14-16).
Without the Holy Spirit, it would be difficult to live a Christian life . The word is the Holy Spirit of the Lord Jesus Christ that lives in the believer .
