We all have sinned and we "ALL" deserve our punishment.
God is merciful so he sent the Lamb of God to sacrifice. "Not to take away "sins" from man individually
He came to take away the SIN "that is the penalty of sin" John 1:29 reads "The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. (notice sin is singular)
1 John 2:2 we see "sins" is used. It's Plural! ( And he is the propitiation for our "SINS":
I believe this is because of the repeated charges against us because sin is still present with us. We have a great lawyer!
Look at what else verse 2 says AND NOT FOR OURS ONLY, BUT ALSO FOR THE SINS OF THE WHOLE WORLD!
God's atonement is not limited!
There's a portion of 2 Peter 2:1 that reads "even "DENYING" the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.
These people are not saved!
But the Lord's purchase Peter designates applies to them if they would accept it!
This proves that the atonement was not limited!
The synonym for fair is Just! That's fair!
Quote from J Vernon Mcgee on John 6:37.
Election and free will are both in this verse. "All that the Father giveth me shall come to me" states a truth, and that is election. But wait a minute! and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out" is also true, and "him that cometh to me" is free will. I don't know how to reconcile them, but they are both true. The Father gives men to Christ, but men have to come. And the ones that come are the ones, apparently, whom the Father gives to Him. You and I are down here, and we don't see into the machinery of heaven. I don't know how God runs that computer of election, but I know that He has given to you and to me a free will and we have to exercise it.
According to God's Word, Jesus isn't only with us; He's unremittingly for us ( Ps. 56:9; Rom. 8:31). His presence is always a favorable, advocating, affectionate embrace of us. ( Rom. 5:8; 1 John 2:1) We are wrapped in His Presence-even after we sin because He always intercedes for us to the Father.
Our Savior refuses to sit back and watch us suffer alone. God the Son became fully human and always will identify, suffer, and walk with His people while saving us, forever binding himself to us intimately. God has not left us alone in our suffering. Jesus suffered for us; we have a God who loves us with empathy. And, the Holy Spirit suffers along with us, groaning as He intercedes for us with the Father (8:26-27).
Compassion causes one to cry out with those in misery, to mourn with those who are lonely, to weep with those in tears.
Compassion moves one to be weak with the weak, vulnerable with the vulnerable, and powerless with the powerless.
Compassion means full immersion in the condition of being human. And this is true of God incarnated, the Word, Son of the Father, enfleshed (John1:14) He did all these things in His divinity and humanity and continues to fully identify with, is pained with our suffering and misery. He became sin for us and thus knew the condemnation of sin on the cross.
And thus, Jesus is the Father's most compassionate gift to mankind. It is only by and through faith in Jesus Christ that we are forgiven of our guilt and rescued from our deplorable condition ( John 14:6; Acts 4:12).
The compassion of Christ can be clearly seen in the Gospel narratives. For example, in Matthew 9:36, we observe Christ's compassion for the harassed and helpless. In Matthew 14:14, we see His compassion for those who are sick and suffer disease. In Matthew 15:32, we witness His compassion for those who hunger.
1 John 2:19 is another one that I believe either you or Brother Chris has shared a while back.
"They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
In addition, we can think of 1 Kings 6:1, where we read: And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the month Zif, which is the second month, that he began to build the house of the LORD.
1 Kings 6:1 provides a 480-year time bridge from Israel going out of the land of Egypt to the fourth year of Solomon's reign, which was the year 967 B.C., when Solmon began to build the house of the LORD. Israel going out of the land of Egypt represents God's salvation plan. God declares, "I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage" ( Exodus 20:2). That is like, "I am Jehovah who has saved you." This physical representation of salvation occurred 430 years after the time Jacob went into the land of Egypt ( Exodus 12:40-41). It was the year 1447 B.C.
According to I Kings 6:1, it was exactly 480 years later, that is, 480 years after 1447 B.C., the year 967 B.C., when Solomon began to build the temple. We have learned that the temple of the Old Testament was a representation of the New Testament congregations and churches. It was also a representation of Christ Himself. Remember, He told the Jews, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up" ( John 2:19). When did Jesus, the spiritual temple, come to this earth to be the temple? While we do not have absolute proof that Jesus was born in the year 7 B.C., all of the circumstantial evidence points to 7 B.C. as the year of His birth. And 7 B.C. is exactly 960 years after Solomon's temple foundation was laid in 967 B.C. Thus, the total period from the going out of Egypt in 1447 B.C. to the birth of Christ in 7 B.C. is 1440 years. The 480-year period is one-third of this 1440 years. The 960 years is two-thirds of this 1440 years.
"In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, IF ANY MAN thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:
And HE IS THE PROPITIATION FOR OUR SINS: AND NOT FOR OURS ONLY, BUT ALSO FOR THE SINS OF THE WHOLE WORLD. 1 John 2:1-2.
There are many verses in the scriptures that show the divinity of Jesus Christ. People often get confused when they come to verses that show the human nature of Jesus, like He was praying to God, So they ask, was He praying to Himself? No, He was praying to Father God. But there are also verses that show His divine nature. Because His a Son of Man (human) but also a Son of God (God). One person, two natures. Jesus walked on earth as a human being. He left His glory and power in Heaven and became like one of us. He walked like us, He ate like us, He drunk like us, He slept like us, He prayed like us. He gave us examples how to behave in any instance in our life.
John 2:19, "Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I (pay attention to that "I") will raise it up."
God is invisible and no one has seen Him. Is Jesus cleansing the temple we have the Spirit expressing it to the Psalm quote. What does it signify?
A: Soon after the miracle at Cana we have him demonstrating that he was the Word become flesh. "And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up." ( John 2:17). He did no sin because he let the Word has its final say over his actions. Some wanted to make him a king, for instance. He avoided them because it was the glory with which Satan bought fallen man.
But the essential lesson the Spirit teaches us is not in the action but in his saying. "It says Follow me. I am the Way." He is the sign. It is what connects us to him. We are signs and wonders in his Asociation and not apart."Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?
19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?
21 But he spake of the temple of his body.
22 When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said."
Yes, we do disagree on this, but it is always nice to speak with you. You have always shown respect, and I have much respect for you also. I understand the phrase "Son of God" as a title just the same as I understand "Son of Man" also being a title. One thing I notice is that John never refers to Jesus as TEKNON. And as far as I know, Jesus is never called a TEKNON in the bible. He is referred to as a HUOIS, one who inherits all things from the Father. I think we both agree that once we are born of God's Spirit, we become joint heirs with Christ. In other words, we are co-inheritors.
I thank you for sharing your understanding of 1 John 2:23. Please allow me to also share my understanding. From what I have read and studied over the years, they had problems back then about people believing in God the Father, but not believing in the deity of Jesus Christ.
Jesus said in John 5:23 that all men should honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He that honors not the Son honors not the Father which has sent Him. In John Chapter 5, Jesus said that all authority has been conveyed to Him. He is to judge all people. And He is to be honored equal to the Father. Most religions will believe in a god and might even call him father. But they will not believe that Jesus Christ is equal.
The person that denies the Father (and the Son), whosoever denies the Son, the same does not have the Father. Jesus said in John 10:30 (the chapter about the sheepfold), He said I and my Father are one. To me, this says that we can't have one without the other. I think the main disagreement we have is whether or not Jesus is God, which I firmly believe He is.
I do want to thank you for taking the time to read my "Biblical Greek Perspective" posts. Blessings to you my brother in Christ Jesus!
Brother in the highest respect I know we disagree on this you understand that the Son of God is a title. You said about huios; quote "doesn't have anything to do with somebody who is born from a woman. This is somebody who's been placed in a position of inheritance." end quote. To me that would be saying Jesus was figuratively the son of God.
The two Greek words you use huios and teknon. Huios means properly, a son by birth or adoption; Jesus was Son by birth and we as believers become figuratively a son/huios of God being adopted and heirs of the promise through the only begotten Son of God Jesus, 1 John 3:2Romans 8:23.
Jesus was born of Mary by the Spirit of God and as Jesus grew, he knew who He was as he said in Luke 2:49 I must be about my Father's business.
We see in Luke 15:24 the prodigal son, his father told the servants his son/huios had returned, a son who was born of him and a mother. In this parable told by Jesus, the man called his other son/teknon who was born of the same father and mother. The word teknon means a child, a son, or a daughter.
In John 19:7 this is what the Jews said, they said he made himself the Son of God by saying Jesus just claimed to be the Son of God but was not, they rejected Jesus and did not believe Jesus was truly the Son of God, the Messiah, even after He was resurrected. I feel if we say Son of God is His title we also are saying Jesus is not the only begotten Son of God conceived in Mary by the Spirit of God.
1 John 2:23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also. In my understanding of this verse, if we do not acknowledge that Jesus was and is the Son of God conceived in Mary, born of the tribe of Judah a descendant of David, we denieth the Son. We must believe and confess that Jesus is the Son of God, we must believe on the name of the Son of God.
Having listed the main things that rob a person of the assurance of salvation, let's look at some things that are evidence of salvation.
Desire to Obey
The child of God longs to obey God and to please Him:
And by this we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. (1 John 2:3)
This desire to obey God gives him an assurance that he is a son of God.
He wants to know the will of God, and therefore he wants to know the Word of God. So he goes where he can hear the Word of God:
Oh, how love I thy law! It is my mediation all the day. I hate vain thoughts, but thy law do I love. I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil. ( Psalm 119:97, 113, 162)
He finds that he not only has an appetite for the Word of God, but he also begins to understand it, and thereby growth takes place:
But he that is spiritual judgeth [understands] all things, yet he himself is judged [understood] of no man. ( 1 Corinthians 2:15)
There are other tests that indicate to a trembling but trusting heart that he or she is a child of God. God urges us to make the tests so that we may have assurance:
Examine yourselves, whether you are in the faith; prove yourselves. Know ye not yourselves how Jesus Christ is in you, unless you are discredited? ( 2 Corinthians 13:5)
Reality in Prayer.
A reality in prayer is evidence that we are children of God. There is a very remarkable statement in this connection made in the third chapter of 1 John:
And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him. (v. 19)
As the child of God approaches the Father, a holy boldness confirms the heart. This is not presumption - it is the assurance that a child has in approaching a father. However, sin or some other impediment may make us hesitant and reluctant to approach the Father. God does not hear us because of our reluctance but because of Christ, and He hears us regardless of our condition:
Some of the Greek texts, instead of a command, it is the Future Tense. If you love me, (YOU WILL) keep my commandments. I find it interesting that everything in our relationship with Jesus Christ is based on love. Jesus says if you love me, (third class condition yet fulfilled), if you love me, you will keep my commandments. The reason why we don't obey Jesus is because we love something or someone else more.
John 14:16 - And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
PARAKLETOS is the word for comforter. It is also officially in Greek the name for the defense attorney. And in Greek concept, it means someone or something that comes along side of you to help you. In 1 John 2:1-2, He is called the defense lawyer, PARAKLETOS. If you want to know what the prosecution is, it is HASETAN, The Satan. That is the official word for the prosecuting attorney, HASETAN. Your adversary!
Please notice this: I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another comforter. And the word "another" means another of the same kind. Another of same kind as He is! Notice this: in order that He may abide, (MENO) with you for ever;
MENO denotes permanency. How long is forever? No end! Jesus is going to send another comforter, and He is going to abide in me, I am going to be a dwelling place (MONAE) forever!
John 14:18 - I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
The word "comfortless" (ORPHANOS) is the Greek word which means orphans.
"Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord./ Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart."
"Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful./But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night."The first Psalm more or less tells us the same. "Undefiled in the way" are those who follow the Law. God a Spirit has his Law which is the Law of the Spirit. Elymas the sorcerer seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith counselled in a way which fits exactly what the ungodly does. So Paul filled with the Holy Ghost calls him out," thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?"(Ac.13:8-10). Instantly as he had warned the fellow was struck blind. "Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord."(v.12) This doctrine is what the word of God and it is given to every man profit withal. Heart is not an anatomical part but a spiritual space so when you follow God with your whole heart it is as though you are led by the Spirit. "For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."(Matt.6:21)Those who do that shall know time is not to be be wasted running after the fads of the day or engage in the trivial pursuits of the ungodly. They may argue with verve what they have read in the web but they cannot distinguish the good from bad so why get saddled with disinformation of the sons of Belial? We have a definition of them "They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us".(1 John 2:19) Heresies were in the time of the Apostles.
John 2:15 - And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables;
And when he had made a scourge, or whip of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple. Literally in the Greek text it says He threw them out. He chased them out with this whip, and the sheep, and the oxen; and he poured out the changers' money, and then tipped over their tables.
I don't know why but over the years I've often wondered if during some functions that go on in various churches, if the Lord were there, would He come and turnover the tables and chase everybody off?
John 2:23 - Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did.
In this verse, where it says "many believed in his name," in the Greek, it is literally into His name. That's the proper wording of the New Testament, not believe in Him or about Him, but into Him. It is direction. It's action. People saw the Lord perform signs and miracles and because of that they believed into His name.
John 3:3 - Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
The word "again" in the Greek text is literally the word above. It is not PALIN, which is the word for again. It is the word ANOTHEN, which means "from above." So, He is saying that if a person is not born from above, he is not able to see the Kingdom of God.
John 3:4 - Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
In the Greek text, there's a word and it is pronounced MAY, and when it is included in questions it expects the answer no! In the Greek text, on all major questions in the Bible, it also includes the answer. We don't see that in the English text very much.
John 1:41 - He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.
Andrew leaves and he goes to find his brother Simon Peter. And he says, we have found the Messiah. And the word found is the word HEUREESKO which is why this section is called the EUREKA, the I found you section. And he finds his own brother, and says we found the Messiah, which is been interpreted the Christ.
John 1:47 - Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!
The word guile is deceit.
John 2:6 - And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.
A firkin is a skin of an animal that's been shaped to hold liquid. A firkin, or two or three firkins, there is one measure, or firkin, because that's what the Greek word says. It says measure, and one measure equals 10 gallons. So, each one carries either 20 or 30 gallons each, which means at a maximum there is 180 gallons total that these six water pots could hold.
John 2:11 - This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.
The word glory is the Greek word DOKSAH, and it comes from the Hebrew word KAVODH that basically means substance.
So, the glory of God is His presence, the very substance of His person, His Spirit. Christ is manifesting that He is God in the flesh as He has manifested Himself.
"And they (the disciples) understood none of these things: and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken."
There was certainly a problem between Jesus and his disciples. He knew them but they believed in him yet they did not understood his miracles neither their significance. After the marriage at Cana we have this passage. " But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men,/And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man."( John 2:24-25). He knew where he came from and where he was going. As the true Light he walked in the light of his Father,- the Father of lights. So there was no shades or subtle difference in the tints that his earthly ministry presented. "When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone." ( John 6:15) Was it not in the Bible spoken? The angel was not joking, he said,"and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:/And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end." ( Luke 1:33-34) Jesus would not fool himself and he had come to destroy the wicked world and save those few that believed as well as understood him. Merely because Satan "shewed unto him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time" it was a trick. His kingdom was 'forever' and not the kind David had inherited.
The disciples believed in Jesus but their understanding had to come in patience. So Isaiah referring to the sure foundation states,"he that believeth shall not make haste". Jesus also explained and it was to happen in their generation ('wicked and adulterous') "In your patience possess ye your souls." It is in the quiet sanctuary the miracle takes place."And when the dew that lay was gone up, behold, upon the face of the wilderness there lay a small round thing, as small as the hoar frost on the ground."
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:/(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)/Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;"
"And bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ" is to all intent and purpose is to put on the mind of Christ. This was spelt out in the Sermon on the Mount. "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect." Perfection is one single word to define the mind of God. Holy is his name.
Jesus was among them as the Word made flesh. He sat with publicans and sinners but he did no sin and knew no sin. For those who wanted him to be involved in their personal quarrels he simply told them off. "Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you?" In his doctrine he set forth the perfection of his Father who sent the rain on the unjust as well as the just. He also said,"And if any man will sue thee at the law, and take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also."(5:40; Luke 12:13). In the way he obeyed his Father naturally he was like his Father; and in his perfect submission on the cross he established the same mind and same holiness so his name was more excellent than all other names.
"And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man."( John 2:25)
"But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;/That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven." Those who are your enemies show the quality of their father while if you have the mind of Christ you shall do just well as he did. It is what putting on Christ signifies.
How could Jesus have shared God's Glory before the creation of the worlds, if He only came as a Man over two millennia ago? Was Jesus wrong or misguided in His prayer? Or, have we somehow misunderstood this verse, which seems quite plainly given?
John 20:17 and 1 Corinthians 11:3 (& others): all showing Jesus' subordinate position to the Father, by virtue of His coming in the Flesh.
1 John 2:22. One can easily interpret this verse as given: 'if a person denies the Messiahship of Christ, then he denies/rejects the relationship of the Father to the Son'. But when we couple the same John writing, "And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world" ( 1 John 4:3), we see another view of his understanding.
What are the possible interpretations of this? There may be some who altogether deny the historical Jesus (though they would be few in number, leaning towards ignorance). Then there would be some who believe that Jesus did not come as a human at all, but as a 'phantom', or a vision/dream. This might be believed by some now, but certainly not to those in His days where He preached, showed compassion, touched & was touched physically by so many. So given that John here believes that Jesus' Life on Earth was not as some would proclaim, but rather that John is pointing his readers to this Jesus, Whom they have seen & touched, is not a mere man, but the One from God. The spirit that is not of God doesn't deny the reality of the historical Man Jesus, for "the devils believe, and tremble", but that spirit that is 'against Christ' will always move men to discard the Pre-existent Christ, not affording Him His full Deity & Glory. Onto Page 3.
Mark 12:32 And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he:
John 17:1-3 These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: 2 As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. 3 And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
John 20:17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
1 Corinthians 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
1 John 2:22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
2 John 1:9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
1 Corinthians 15:25,28 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. 28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.
1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
Revelation 3:12 Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name.
"For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath./And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness."
What is darkness? Absence of light, of course. God separated light from darkness. John applies it to the nation of Israel. And the darkness comprehended it not." ( John 1:4) refers to the verse below. "He (Jesus Christ) came unto his own, and his own received him not." (1:10-11)The world and Israel in particular, did not receive for the reason they did not have the light in themselves. It is to which Jesus referred,"But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!"(Matt.6:23). In them the word as a seed meant nothing so it was as though God did not plant them at all. For this reason what fruits they could have produced? They were thistles and thorns only fit for fire.
Illustrations we can see how Israel became synonymous with outer darkness.
In Ex.24:3 Israel vows, "All the words which the Lord hath said will we do." They also saw God, " and there was under his feet as it were a paved work of a sapphire stone, and as it were the body of heaven in his clearness."(24:10) "In his clearness" was in effect was blind since they did not comprehend the true Light when he walked among the. In him was the light of men but where did they fail? "But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes."(1 John 2:11).
Another time they said,"And they said unto Moses, Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die."(Ex.20:19) Did that help them when a voice from heaven sounded, "The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him."( John 12:29)
Jesse, please don't take this wrong I care, and I am trying to understand. I have read your posts on Matthew and some of it is helpful, but I do not agree with your understanding of the meaning you give on some of the Greek words.
In Matthew 16:16 you are saying when Peter told Jesus He is the Son of the living God Peter is confessing to Jesus, that He is the Messiah and He is God. You also say Son of the Living God is a title of God, sorry I don't agree with that. I understand you and probably most on this site believe in a triune God and that Jesus is God, I am sorry, but a title did not die for my sins.
God cannot be the Messiah, if we deny Jesus is the Christ/Messiah we are a liar and an antichrist. The one who does that also denies the Father and the Son, 1 John 2:22.
The heart and truth of the gospel is Jesus is the only begotten Son of God, a man born of a virgin whose Father is God conceived by the Holy Ghost with flesh and blood who God the Father sent, John 3:16. Who became the Messiah when He was anointed with the Holy Ghost after John the Baptise baptized Him. He died for our sins, and we are to confess Him and believe He is the Son of God, 1 John 4:151 John 5:10. In the Son of God Jesus is our faith and the only hope of salvation. Jesus is the one Moses spoke of Deuteronomy 18:15
My understanding is 2 Corinthians 11:3-4 is about this doctrine; I know you and others on here will not agree.
If we analyze deeply Scriptures,we will see there is difference between how was the Devil, the old Serpent,in Adam's time, and how he is in this time of Apocalypse. The difference is great.By the way,the new name of the Devil now is red Dragon.
In the time of Adam, the Devil still hadn't 7 HEADS and 10 HORNS, much less his TAIL.It's important detail.
Re.12:3-4->3 another wonder appeared in heaven(heaven? Ephesians 1:3-8);behold a great red dragon,having 7 heads and 10 horns,and 7 crowns upon his 7 heads.
4And his TAIL drew the third part of the stars of heaven("drew to the Dragon's Orbit"),and did cast them to the earth:(through the apostasy)
Satan's body started to develop or take shape in the first century of the Church. As time went on(centuries),Satan's body was growing more and more in the WORLD;in Asia, and Europe, frica,Oceania (Australia),North America,Central America and South America, his 7 heads geographically
At the same time, the spirit of antichrist grew within the Churches of the Lord,as is written in 1John 2:18-20,mainly in the Church of Rome, actually the cradle of Antichrist. From there the TAIL of the red Dragon started to growth in the environment of the 7 heads of the Dragon,i.e. in the world at that time
Around 95AD,1st century, the Beast of sea was in the embryo in the belly of the apostate Church of Rome, through Church Satan developed exceedingly his satanic body having 7 heads.John saw that in this current time of Apocalypse, the body of the Beast of sea, whose roots is described in Revelaton 13:2,was complete, having 7 heads,10 horns, and upon his 10 horns 10 crowns, and upon his 7 heads the name of blasphemy
Furthermore,Israel was banned from their land from 70 to 1948AD,i.e. during 1878 years, this terrible event prevented the manifestation of the false messiah before the current time of Revelation, the development of the 10 horns stayed in stand by until this current time. This last event will happen from now on
LORD WILLING ALL ISRAELITES TAKE HEED TO THESE SCRIPTURES WHEN PRAYING AND REQUESTING PRAYERS.......
Proverbs 28:9
He that turneth away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination.
John 9:31
Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
God detests the prayers of a person who ignores the law, and he doesn't listen to those who deliberately sin and don't do his will.
Walk as Yahawashi("Jesus") walked and you will farewell.
1 John 2:4-7
He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.
Brethren, I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.
Ecclesiastes 12:13-14
Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
18Then answered the Jews and said unto him,What sign shew you unto us,seeing that you does these things?
19Jesus answered:Destroy this temple,in three days I will raise it up.
20Then said the Jews,Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt you rear it up in THREE days?
21But He spake of the temple of His body(both physic an spiritual body-the Church, even now in His return in this 3rd DAY,as prophesied Hosea 6:2-3:
2After two days will He revive us:in the THIRD DAY He will raise us up,and we shall live in His sight.
3Then shall we know,if we follow on to know the Lord:his going forth is prepared as the morning;and He shall come unto us as the rain,as the latter and former rain unto the earth.
Exodus 19:9-11-the WONDERFUL EVENT OF THE CLOUD-the same will occur soon in JESUS's coming.
9And the Lord said unto Moses, Lo,I come unto thee in a thick CLOUD that the people may hear when I speak with thee, and believe thee for ever. And Moses told the words of the people unto the Lord.
10And the Lord said unto Moses,Go unto the people, and sanctify them to DAY and to MORROW, and let them WASH their clothes,
11And be READY against the THIRD DAY:for the THIRD DAY the Lord will come down in the sight of all the people upon mount Sinai.
Revelation 19:5-9
5And a voice came out of the throne, saying,Praise our GOD,all ye His servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great.
6And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia:for the Lord GOD Omnipotent reigns.
7Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to Him:for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and His wife has made herself READY.
8And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white:for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.
9And he says unto me,Write,Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he says unto me,These are the true sayings of GOD
Universalism does not teach that every human will be saved because the sacrifice of Jesus was for the sins of the whole world.
Universalism teaches that every human will be saved whether they believe or accept Christ or not.
Everyone gets saved no matter what.
The bible is what teaches that Jesus sacrifice was for the whole world.
John 3:14-16
"And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Just as anyone in the camp beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.in Numbers 21:9, Anyone who trust in the Lamb of God shall also live.
Here's more connecting verses.
John 1:29 "The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the "SIN" of the world.
You noticed I put emphasis on the word SIN here in this verse. It's singular!
It is the penalty of sin that is being spoken of here that was brought in the world by Adam's transgression mentioned in Romans. Romans 5:12-15.
If the penalty of sin was imputed to All men then the Love offering and sacrifice was for all men.
Drop down to Romans 5:18 "Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon ALL MEN unto justification of life.
John again.
1 John 2:2 states "And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
1John 2:2 reads, And he is the propitiation for our sins:
The Greek word just means satisfaction. Jesus meets all the requirements for our sins. But also, HELASMON is the Greek word, and it is the word for mercy seat in the Old Testament in the tabernacle area.
Once a year at the Day of Atonement, the priest would go in the holy of holies and sprinkle the mercy seat with the sacrifice that has been made for the sins of the people.
So Jesus presents Himself before the Father, not only His righteousness, but His sacrifice for our sins. And not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
And so the argument and debate goes on about "Did Jesus die for the sins of the whole world, or just for a few, that is, the ones that He has chosen?"
Well, the bible tells us that Jesus died for the sins of the whole world, everybody's sins. But its application and its effectiveness is only for those who receive Him.
When the whole world stands before Christ, the only thing they will answer for is how they responded to Christ. That's it! And people will die in their sins because they have rejected Christ.
With that as the base and foundation of moving on, showing God's provision if we confess our sins, it's almost as if John was saying "Now as we go through this list, and you realize that you're not saved, just remember we've got a provision for your sins, so take advantage of it."
GOD established the OT,first celestial environment or first heaven that lasted around 1500 years, from Moses until JESUS.
GOD established the NT,second heavenly environment or second heaven( Ephesians 1:3-8),it has lasted 2000 years as is written: Heb. 1:1-3:
1GOD,who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
2Has in these last days(last two millenniums)spoken unto us by His Son,whom he has appointed heir of all things,by whom also He made the worlds;
3Who being the brightness of His glory, the EXPRESS IMAGE of His Person and upholding all things by the Word of His power, when He had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high:
JESUS said to the Jews: John 2:19-21: 9-->Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.21But he spake of the temple of His body.(So,up from the grave the body of JESUS arose in the 3rd day,a day of 24 hours, but spiritually the Church is the body of Christ( Colossians 1:24),and now, after two Days, two millenniums,as was prophesied by Hosea 6:2-3,the body of Christ, the true Church of the Lord( Ephesians 1:3-8),will rise up or caught up and put down all rule and all authority and power,JESUS must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet, and the last ENEMY that shall be destroyed is death, having He put all things under His feet. 1Corinthians 15:24-27.
The Kingdom of GOD will be established by the Power of the Word of GOD- Revelation 11:15-18.The Word is GOD,GOD Himself,self-executing.Satan will be cast down into the bottomless pit that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled.Re.20:2-3
2Pe.3:7-8
7But the heavens(the heavenly environment of the OT and NT which were established by GOD here( Ephesians 1:3-8),and the earth(the current Israel-the clay, the dry land),which are now,by the same Word are kept in store, reserved unto FIRE against this Day of Judgment and perdition of ungodly men(this Day arrived-the Lord's Day)
Here is scripture from my earlier post that applies to your question.
1 John 2:2 "And he is the propitiation for our sins: (AND NOT FOR OURS ONLY) ...BUT ALSO FOR THE SINS OF THE WHOLE WORLD.
John 1:7-9 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. "That was the true Light, which lighteth EVERY MAN THAT COMETH INTO THE WORLD.
John 3:15-18. That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, BECAUSE HE HATH NOT BELEIVED IN THE NAME OF THE ONLY BEGOTTEN SON OF GOD.
Here is one that is overlooked. 1 Peter 2:1.
It speaks of those that denied the Lord that bought them.
"But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, EVEN DENYING THE LORD THAT BOUGHT THEM, AND BRING UPON THEMSELVES SWIFT DESTRUCTION.
The people he is talking about is not saved. They DENIED the Lord.
but the Lord's purchase was applied to them if they would accept it.
Yes, The whole Word of God is a PROPHECY of the Kingdom of GOD, including the book of Genesis; as you have said.
Genesis 1:26-27
27 So GOD created man in His own image, in the image of GOD created He him; male and female created He them.
28 And GOD blessed them, and GOD said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it
To frutify, and multiply, and to replenish th earth, GOD created the woman, by allegory the true Church of the Lord.
GOD sent JESUS and JESUS came in the fourth Day-the Greater Light- around 4000 yers after Adam- John 5:17. Around 27/30AD, i.e. in the beginning of the fifth Day, around 2000 years ago, JESUS said to the Jews: John 2:19 and 21: ->19 Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
21 But he spake of the temple of His body. (what our Lord JESUS said and revealed, physically He would resurrect in the third day (a day of 24 hours, of course); but spiritually, our Lord was speaking of his body the Church, it will rise up now in the 3rd Day, a Day of 1000 years, after have bear fruit, multiplied itself for 2000 years, and will replenish the earth with the resurrection of multitudes according 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17:
15 For this we say unto you by the Word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel(Michael- Daniel 12:1-3), and with the trump of GOD: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: (the resurrection of the believers in Christ JESUS)
17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the cloud(the same cloud in Acts 1:9-11,take a look), to meet the Lord in the air(on high, the 3rd heaven- Micah 4:1-8 combined with 2Corinthians 12:2-4 and Luke 20:35-36, among other biblical references, and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Thank you David0921 for your response. I would align myself with most of what you've written concerning biblical inspiration, that the Word of God is indeed wholly authored by God. Yet, when I read 2 Timothy 3:16, that "ALL scripture is given by the inspiration of God", I would be in conflict with some who hold fervently that what we read now (from the ancient recordings, also the KJB) are the actual Words that God (by His Spirit) spoke to godly men to write. "Inspiration" to me, doesn't mean that God dictated the Words to record, nor does it mean that the fingers of the writers were gripped by Him to pen those holy Words. Rather, as men recorded down what they saw or learned, God's Spirit was present to help them record accurately and remember correctly. That said, since you brought it up, I'll move on.
"What do I believe the Bible says about the term BORN AGAIN?" When we have Scriptures such as John 3:3-8, 1 Peter 1:22-23, 1 John 2:29, 1 John 5:1, & others in John's epistle, we can believe that this re-birth is wholly of God & not of man's doing or involvement; that re-birth is a spiritual birth, whereby God gives us a new spirit (His Spirit) Who always inclines us towards God & His Son; that God's Ministry to us can only be to our revived spirit in us and not to the flesh that has no desire after godly things. Therefore, we are to continue to crucify our flesh which lusts against the Holy Spirit ( Galatians 5:17) in us & distracts us from serving God acceptably & in fear. Therefore, by the Holy Spirit in us, we have become new creatures in Christ Jesus, reckoning ourselves to be dead unto sin but alive unto God through Jesus Christ. This re-birth must be the final Work of God in the sometimes lengthy course in a person's struggle dealing with conviction of sin, brokenness, humility, & cry for a Savior to save & redeem him. (continued on Page 2).
Everyone should know that all Presidents of the countries of South America are idolaters, spiritually Roman Catholics guided and dominated by the MAN Beast of Sea having 7 HEADS,10 horns,10 crowns, and a NAME of blasphemy-Re.13:1,with headsquaters in Rome,Vatican City, but linked to the Red Dragon- Revelation 12:3.In fact, also in the European Continent most Presidents are spiritually guided and dominated by the MAN Beast of sea,a Gentile Beast, and are also linked to the satanic BODY OF THE RED DRAGON- Revelation 12:3.
On the other hand, countries considered Christian that remain separate from the Man Beast of the Gentiles, but very similar religiously speaking, influenced by the religious Power of the MAN Beast of sea,for example countries like the United Kingdom, together with the United States(President Biden is Roman Catholic),and others called Eastern Christians and Orthodox Christians, all of these religious nations are linked to the BODY OF THE RED DRAGON-Re.12:3-having 7 HEADS and 10 horns, and seven crowns upon his HEADS.
In the midst of all this satanic and idolatrous mess are Israel,10 tribes in particular, which for now is NOT linked with the MAN Beast of sea,but soon Israel will be;And the believers spread across gigantic divisions, denominational and spiritual, dominated by countless doctrines, many of them even satanic,as in the churches of Asia at the beginning of the Church of the Lord, and in addition to the 7 churches in Asia, the worst of all happened in the apostate Church of Rome( 1John 2:18-19).
Isaiah 9:14-16 prophesied:
14Therefore the Lord will cut off from Israel HEAD and TAIL,branch and rush,in one Day
15The ancient and honorable,he is the head; the prophet who teaches lies,he is the TAIL
16For the leaders of these people cause them to err;and they that are led of them are destroyed
Re.12:4-And his TAIL drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth
But now, even now, from now on,all will be punished- Revelation 11:18
Part 3
God righteousness also means he's fair and just.
See Part 4
Pt. 2
See Pt. 3
The word of God will divide a house!
Matthew 10:34-39.
1 John 2:19 is another one that I believe either you or Brother Chris has shared a while back.
"They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.
Thanks again Brother.
Cont in Part 14
Jesus said in John 7:37-38.
Blessings.
Huios means properly, a son by birth or adoption; Jesus was Son by birth and we as believers become figuratively a son/huios of God being adopted and heirs of the promise through the only begotten Son of God Jesus, 1 John 3:2 Romans 8:23.
In love, God bless,
RLW
How Can I Know?
See part 8.
1 John 3:20
John 14:15 - If ye love me, keep my commandments.
John 14:16 - And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
Please notice this: I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another comforter. And the word "another" means another of the same kind. Another of same kind as He is! Notice this: in order that He may abide, (MENO) with you for ever;
John 2:15 - And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables;
1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

He died for our sins, and we are to confess Him and believe He is the Son of God, 1 John 4:15 1 John 5:10. In the Son of God Jesus is our faith and the only hope of salvation. Jesus is the one Moses spoke of Deuteronomy 18:15
My understanding is 2 Corinthians 11:3-4 is about this doctrine; I know you and others on here will not agree.
God bless,

Red Dragon
If we analyze deeply Scriptures,we will see there is difference between how was the Devil, the old Serpent,in Adam's time, and how he is in this time of Apocalypse. The difference is great.By the way,the new name of the Devil now is red Dragon.
In the time of Adam, the Devil still hadn't 7 HEADS and 10 HORNS, much less his TAIL.It's important detail.
Re.12:3-4->3 another wonder appeared in heaven(heaven? Ephesians 1:3-8);behold a great red dragon,having 7 heads and 10 horns,and 7 crowns upon his 7 heads.
This last event will happen from now on
Get ready
There will be more on this later, God bless.
GOD established the NT,second heavenly environment or second heaven( Ephesians 1:3-8),it has lasted 2000 years as is written: Heb. 1:1-3:
1GOD,who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
2Has in these last days(last two millenniums)spoken unto us by His Son,whom he has appointed heir of all things,by whom also He made the worlds;
2Pe.3:7-8
7But the heavens(the heavenly environment of the OT and NT which were established by GOD here( Ephesians 1:3-8),and the earth(the current Israel-the clay, the dry land),which are now,by the same Word are kept in store, reserved unto FIRE against this Day of Judgment and perdition of ungodly men(this Day arrived-the Lord's Day)
Part 2.
There is no limited atonement.
God bless.
GOD BLESS
Isaiah 28:21 and 10:23; Romans 9:28 and 8:18-25
Thank you David0921 for your response.
