    Jesus is trying to teach you to have a true relationship with him so you will know him and his voice, and know which road to take when it comes time to stand alone at your testing if you should die... He doesn't want us to be hypocrites, but to love one another, pray for one another and beware of false prophets that can lead us astray.

    Everything must be said or done according to its perspective. In Matthew 7, Give not that which is Holy [the Gospel, tithes, God’s time for evangelizing, etc..] unto the dogs; judge not that you be not judged, etc… Meaning don’t be a fool. Don’t give that which God has Blessed you with to false prophets, or gentiles, or those that refuse the gospel. Yet how would you know that they are false prophets. You will know them by the fruits they bear [the things they do]. Neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet and turn again and rend you. But how will you know that they are swine. By sincerely praying to God for and receiving the Holy Spirit [ Luke 11:13].This does not say, we shouldn’t evangelize, not pay tithes, etc..; because we should. Yet after we have done that which we are commanded to do and find out they are “false prophets; refusers of the gospel, etc…”, then we are to go and give that which is Holy to those who will or have accepted the Gospel, and practice the word of God. There is more to the interpretation of Matthew 7:6, and the whole chapter 7, but I believe the general concept [ideal] is there.

    Jesus is speaking the truth. He is speaking a prophetic word about how it will be in the last days. Today we hear a lot of preachers on TV prophesying, speaking in tongues, and casting out devils. Then you hear about them on the news doing something sinful. The very thing that they preach about, they end up doing. Many people put their trust in these people and send them their money. Jesus said that there is nothing that's done in the dark that will not be uncovered. Yes, your sins will find you out. Television preachers, you may look and sound good to many people, but God knows what's in your hearts. That is why he will say to you on judgment day, get away from me, you who work iniquity. I never knew you.

    Since John 17:3, Philippians 3:8-10, Matthew 7:21-23, verse 9 covered by a thick cloud, Jeremiah 29:13 that the people might hear when I speak with you, and believe you forever. John 6:17-8; 8:12. Jesus marveled in Matthew 8:10. Is there a greater marvel elsewhere? Is the only disease (BELEVING A LIE) caused by either Deception, or Pride. 1 Corinthians 4:7 there is only One God Who cannot lie, Hebrews 13:8. Who says there are no absolutes? The statement is an absolute, humble unselfish FATHER already knows everything, and is the answer, yet humanity is so wrapped up in their shallow little plans they miss the mark. His Glory Revelation 4:11, Galatians 2:20-21, Genesis 15:1, Philippians 3:12 Came here to understand this veiled verse 19:13 but got sidetracked. Sound unfamiliar 2 Corinthians 3:18, Ephesians 4:13.

    @Timothy comments towards doubting Thomas:
    1. I agree with Clint that you cannot argue with an unbelieving such as Thomas appears to be, he will most likely be doubting until he comes face to face with Jesus himself and sees the hole in his side and nail scarred hands;
    2. There is enough evidence to prove that the King James Bible 1611 is the only holy spirit inspired word of God to the English speaking people and God knowing that English was going to be the language of the world in the last days, ordained this perfectly preserved Bible in 1604-1611 by a king ( Psalm 12:6,7), and is the seventh bible translated into the English speaking language;
    3. We are not suppose to answer a fool according to his folly ( Proverbs 26:4) and cast our pearls before swine ( Matthew 7:6);
    4. Last week I took a few minutes to demonstrate the King James 1611 compared to the NIV to a young person in the lord, a disciple of mine and he understood immediately because he is open to truth, unlike doubting Thomas;
    5. I have come across people like doubting Thomas many times, and the only thing this person is interested in doing is vacillating his intellect for others to witness just like the Pharisees and Sadducees;
    6. The Sadducees deny the resurrection that's why they were sad-u-see, and the resurrection alone verifies the virgin birth ( Romans 1:4; 8:11);
    7. So let doubting Thomas alone to wallow in his intellect and turn him over to God for the destruction of his unbelieving spirit;
    8. There is nothing wrong with being an intellectual, but do not allow the intellect to undermine the simple faith that comes from Christ Jesus, our savior ( 2 Corinthians 11:3).

    This chapter is loaded; in verses 1-8, Jesus teaching Christians how to answer the gainsayers that really have no interest in biblical truth, but just wanting to trap, make fun of, ridicule, or embarrass a person into saying something falsely.
    A. Answer not a fool according to his folly ( Proverbs 26:4);
    B. Give not that which is holy unto dogs, neither cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you ( Matthew 7:6).

    Perhaps there is one sin from which has two causes and Three basic pathways:
    1. Unbelief (hath God said?) Beleiving A Lie John 16:9;
    2. Deception, i.e. NutraSweet™(deficiency) Proverbs 12:20;
    3. Pride Isaiah 14:13 Proverbs10:13 (Self-centered) cancer, Toxicity;
    4. 1 John 2:15, 16, all problems are spiritual and deal with RELATIONSHIP. Missing the mark John 17:3, Matthew 7:21, Genesis 15:1. Thus also natural realm there is only one sickness; Cellular Malfunction i.e. Dr. Otto Warburg's famous speech while Accepting Nobel Peace Prize in 1931 on cancer and its Prime cause due to Deficiency of oxygen thus Toxicity in dna i.e. Non efficient toxic city, mass production of...;

    Verse 3 to me is about judgment of someone else, when you are guilty of something much worse. Simply put in today’s society it means, "Take a look at yourself and your own issues, before you judge someone else for theirs."

    In responce to Tim Kelton's
    Good summary of the words Shall and should but check out Romans 8:35-39 and then also Matthew 7:23. Jesus says here that on that day He will say to those on the left I NEVER KNEW YOU. This would indicate that you can't jump out of His arms. The person was never saved to start with. You see God is all knowing and He already knows what you will do with Him the rest of youre life and based on that he will or will not save you. God will not waist His Sons blood on some one for a few years and then that person turn his back on him again. God looks on the heart.

    On verses 13 and 24:
    1. The fig tree represents the nation of Israel;
    2. Jesus saw it afar off like when people view religion, but when a person takes the time to investigate religion closely they begin to see it for what it is (false Christianity). The leaves represent religion that is drenched in the law and dressed in the unbiblical traditions of men ( Colossians 2:8). True spiritual fruit ( Matthew 7:16) comes from the grace of our lord Jesus Christ working through us, after being born again ( Galatians 5:22-26). Of course Jesus did what he always does to nations, denominations, and individuals that are trying to produce heavenly fruits through fleshly seeds, he places an ichabod curse on that unfruitful religious situation.

    David and his men wept, weeping cannot bring them back. We need to seek God, Matthew 7:7. Seek and you shall find, Isaiah 9:6 says He is Wonderful Counselor, He knows all things. Anytime we are in problem the only person to call is God, not to care for nothing, Psalm 50:15. The bible says the moment David enquired from the Lord, God gave him the answer.

    Verse 22 is a prime example of a person that professes salvation, but does not possess salvation. Romans 10:9-13, this person is in denial of their true relationship with Jesus Christ as their personal savior. Galatians 6:7, the time of this event follows the millennial reign of Christ called the white throne Judgment, Revelation 20:11.

    Verse 22 is prime example of a person who professes salvation without professing salvation, this person is being deceived by her own denial of one’s true relationship with Jesus Christ. It's obvious that all Christians are saved by belief in CHRIST JESUS. When we read Matthew 22 and 23, the MASTER CHRIST JESUS lets us see that right, because doing good works in the name of the LORD doesn't mean one believes in CHRIST JESUS.

    @Munalula,
    Jesus Christ gave but 1 test ; He said : ‘’Ye shall know them by their fruits.’’ Matthew 7:15-29.
    The word also says in 1 Thessalonians 5:20-21 ‘’ Despise not prophesyings. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.’’ So we have to scan everything in the light of the word of God.
    And as we have soft and obedient hearts, the holy spirit shall always lead us in that task.
    God bless you.

    I believe charity is a bad interpretation and that love is correct but also misinterpreted as works why john 14:21 Jesus says He that has my commandments and keepeth them he it is that loveth me and he that loveth me shall be loved of my father and I will love him . the person who has love keeps his commandments.. John 15:9-10 As the Father has loved me so have I loved you continue ye in my love if you keep my commandments you shall abide in my love as I have kept my fathers commandments and abide in his love .....1 John3:23 And this is his commandment that we should believe on the name of his son Jesus Christ ....And love one another as he gave commandment all religions can have charity but they can not have love because they deny that Jesus is the SON OF GOD. As the Word of God HE gives you the Fathers Commandment then he gives you his commandment to love one another thinking that good works are what were talking about is wrong also Matthew 7:21 Not every one that says onto me Lord Lord shall enter into the Kingdom of heaven but he that doeth the will of my father which is in heaven John6:40 And this is the will of him that sent me that all that seeth the Son and believeth on him may have everlasting life and I will raise him up again at the last day...in that day many will say onto me Lord Lord have we not prophisized in thy name cast out demons in thy name and in thy name done many wonderfull works Romans 4:5-6 Now to him that worketh is the reward not recond of grace but of debt But to him that worketh not but believeth on him that justfieth the ungodly his faith is counted for rightsness Ephesians 2:8-9 for by grace are you saved through faith and that not of yourselves it is the gift of God not of works lest any man should boast then Jesus says to them depart from me ye workers of iniguity I never Knew you 1John2:3 hereby we do know that we know him if we keep his Commandments 1John3:23

    I believe Matthew 7:7 clearly specifies the intensity of a Christian's prayer with regard to one's needs. As the words ask, seek and knock show a substantial increase in aggressive ascending order, so are we directed here to attach a specific kind of approach to every prayer request we make.
  • Yochanan on John 1 - 13 years ago
    Bebopp. Surely your words are of none else but of someone who never believed in or even understood the faith contained in the bible. I never liked the church much myself either. But if you read the bible where is the churched ever mentioned as an institution of gods law? Where does it say that you should act like or listen to priests? The bible surely is of god but the church surely is not. Some churches might be lead by men and women of faith, some congregations surely have faithful men and women in them. But some or even many might not have a true faithful soul in them. Just cause you go to church doesn't make you free from sin. Anyone who sins knows this. But true faith leads away from sin. Read 1john2 1john2 and 1john3 and understand the message. Understand that truth and gods command only can be found in your own heart. You shouldn't listen to the world, but to your heart, your soul, the spirit god has given you. Your heart knows whats right, so feel it. And only people that are of strong will and righteous character can be people of real faith. Read the following verses. Matthew 24:5, Matthew 7:22-23. Luke 21:8 Mark 13:6. Who do you think they speak of? What does your heart tell you in this matter? So follow your heart in truth and righteousness.

    Matthew 7:22,23 Many are the Christians in this world who are falling into this category. Thinking that the things they do in the name of Christ will get them into Heaven. The fact is that we must be broken completely and reborn in Christ to be counted in the rolls of everlasting life. Only when we understand that the "way" to God is through the "way" that Jesus was teaching us to live.
  • Claude Byrd on 1 Corinthians 13:10 - 13 years ago
    What does the word perfect mean in scripture? But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it--he will be blessed in what he does.( James 1:25). Jesus answered, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." ( Matthew 19:21) Does the perfect here means something different than the perfect used in 1st Corinthians 13:10? What is the perfect law of liberty? What was Jesus referencing when he told the rich young ruler if thou would be perfect go sell all that you have and come follow me. Could perfect mean complete? I'm just saying! Sometimes we make things more difficult than they should be! My feeling or my opinion is fruitless when it comes to the word of God. Solomon said in Proverbs 16:25 "There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." In Matthew 7:24 Jesus said these words "Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them, may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock." The Hebrew writer said in Hebrews 5:8-9 Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered And having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation,

    Hear ( Mt 7:24), believe ( Jn 8:24) repent ( Lk 13:3,5) confess ( Acts 8:37) and be baptized for the remission of your sins, ( Acts 2:38, 8:12, acts 22:16)

    the key word is gate. And the gate is Jesus Christ.The narrow road is doing the things of God and the wide road is doing the things of satan,and that road lead you to disstruction.I would rather stay on the narrow road and go with Jesus Christ.
