21For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee. 22Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off. 23And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be graffed in: for God is able to graff them in again. 24For if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and wert graffed contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more shall these, which be the natural branches, be graffed into their own olive tree? 25For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery

Hi Adam, Of course Christians sin and disobey, I was speaking of salvation--not sin or disobedience. Are you suggesting that the Holy Spirit is weaker in a Christian than Satan's power? Born again Christians are bought with a price and belong to Christ. Are WE capable of forcing him to disown us? The gift of salvation is irrevocable, as are all God's gifts. Romans 11:29 OSAS

I also forgot Gal.4:5 , Cor 10:12 there are many ways to be cut out there are more many more passages throughout the whole Bible,people have a mixed concept of truth

yes there are some that are wishy washy, some feel they are born again but John 3:5-9 , Matt: 7:22 and the Romans 1, I would say the whole chapter to be honest shows us the way to any other way is to err

As Matthew Henry pointed out, God will keep those who are saved till the end. A person who is Truly Born Again, cannot lose his or her salvation. But those, who are like, what Timothy or Titus, say's that there are some who are like clouds without water, they may have been enlightened, but, are wishy washy in their faith, when it comes down to true faith, they are saved always

I agree with the vine , but I was referring to the message in Roman's 11:17 and Paul being a Jew was speaking how we are grafted in and to read all about Abraham is truly amazing, how God picked him to be the father to all nations, coming from a pagan land as he did and God spoke to him and told him to travel into a land he did not know and he did by faith. Luke 16:22-25 was just a parable. The Bible is as clear as day where the dead go and is back to the ground until Christ's second coming when they shall be resurrected. Eccl 9:5,6, 1 Thess 4:16,17, Dan 12:2. It was based on what the Sadducees believed that the righteous ascend when they die while sinners burn eternally in hell and there is no resurrection after physical death.

Kindly read John 15:1-6. Jesus says He is the true vine and we are the branches. The branches that bare fruit a retained whereas them that bare not are cut off. Baring fruit is keeping the faith of Jesus and keeping his commandments Rev 14:12. Not baring fruit is the opposite, which most of the Jews did, they believed not whom God had sent which equates to eternal life John 17:3 and hence cut off.

He was God's chosen to be the father of his nations he is the Olive tree

Paul was speaking of the Olive tree which began with Abraham a promise again made by God to him that he would deliver his people the Jew , who bragged about being God's chosen and we gentiles were heathens without God this is what he is referring to here. we are grafted in because of their boasting and denying of Christ . Luke 16:22-25 shows who Abraham was and do not call him unclean, God's heart

Salvation to mankind was first foretold by God Himself in Genesis 3:15. There was no Abraham at that time. Abraham was a Chaldean a pagan but chosen by God to be the root in the lineage of Christ coming.But the Isralites rejected Christ and for their unbelief they were cut off. We were grafted in because of believing in God as John 1:12 says, we became the children of God.

God made a promise to Abraham he being the olive tree, the Church his people would be saved, by their boasting of being God's chosen we gentiles being heathens would never be worthy of God's grace, why God broke branches off, so we should live grateful,humble and walk in faith, giving thanks to the Father always , die to our fleshly ways so we may be saved, don't be boastful we can be cut off

Paul spoke of it being Abraham's tree, God made the promise to him, that his people will be his people and we are only grafted in by unbelief and should never boast in that fact be grateful, for we are of wild olive trees and Abraham's was the pure olive tree GB

On the second paragraph of this chapter's commentary, I beg to differ. One Abraham is not the root but Christ is. We are are grafted in Christ as the olive tree for He alone is Holy and hence if the root be holy so are the branches. Second we are saved by grace hence made heirs through the faith of Christ and not Abraham, Abraham was mere man like the rest of us. John 1:12, we are children of God.

The olive tree analogy is speaking only of Israel and Gentiles who became part of Israel. That has to be the case since the body of Christ never had or has conditional salvation, but Israel did. To truly understand this chapter one has to know all the rest of Paul's epistles. Israel, the body of Christ and the little flock of faithful Jews are separate entities.

In it's context, Romans 9, 10 and 11 is to and about the nation of Israel, how they had it's standing with God, how they lost its' special standing when they rejected Christ and how they will be born again during Christ's second coming. They were born the first time in Exodus 4:22 when they were delivered out of Egypt and received the Old Covenant, they will be required to be born again.

Verse 33: there is no end to what we can learn about Jehovah God’s thoughts, words, or ways.

As silly humans we try to rationalize, dispute, make arguments, make our own private interpretations , But in verse : 33--- O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! is the answer, we will never understand his ways.---There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD..

Hiya Wayne GBU yes i see that but keep in mind that natural Israel will have to be bornagain there is no other way for them or the Gentiles to be Saved. Keep in mind that all the DISCIPLES were JEWS but they ALL had to be Bornagain of an Incorruptible SEED no EXCEPTIONS. Thats y there is no more jew or gentile all men carry the STAIN and the SPOT of Adam THUS ALL MEN WILL HAVE TO BE BORNAGAIN

For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles be come in. Gentiles who believe in Jesus Christ are not Israel's replacement! The neighboring countries presumed to usurp the holy land when Israel went into captivity. Instead of mourning they rejoiced!

God provided thru faith the Jews first and the gentiles(he is no respect of persons) a way to eternal life .He has not forgotten the Jews, that well he deal with later. Until all the gentiles come in then all will be saved

Romans is our doctrine for today , we are in the But Now. For those that are looking for doctrine in the time past ,acts, or ages to come, are missing what God is doing today. Romans through Philemon have very different language than the rest of the bible, his writing were given to him from the Risen Lord, its for the Gentile the Body of Christ.
