Discuss Romans 16

  • But Now! - 6 months ago
    1. Romans 2:16

"In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel."

Paul declares that God will judge all men by Jesus Christ according to the revelation he preached, showing the authority and finality of his message.

    2. Romans 16:25

"Now to him that is of power to establish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began."

Here Paul links his gospel with the revelation of the mystery, truth previously hidden but now made known through him ( Ephesians 3:1-9).

    3. 2 Timothy 2:8

"Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel."

This emphasizes Christ's resurrection as the central truth of Paul's gospel - salvation apart from the law, received by grace through faith ( 1 Corinthians 15:1-4).

    Summary:

These three verses - Romans 2:16, Romans 16:25, and 2 Timothy 2:8 - are the only explicit references where Paul calls it "my gospel" in the Bible.

    They collectively highlight:

Judgment by Christ through Paul's message ( Rom 2:16).

The revelation of the hidden mystery ( Rom 16:25).

The risen Christ as its foundation ( 2 Tim 2:8).

The question of whether Paul preached a different gospel than the other apostles must be handled with careful distinction. In 1 Corinthians 15:1-11, Paul indeed affirms the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ as the heart of the gospel-truths that Peter and the other apostles also proclaimed. Verse 11 makes clear: "Therefore whether it were I or they, so we preach, and so ye believed." The core of salvation has always rested on Christ. In that sense, the content of the gospel concerning His person and work was the same.

However, the progressive revelation and the unique stewardship was given to Paul. Paul refers to "my gospel" ( Romans 16:25; 2 Timothy 2:8) and "the revelation of the mystery" hidden from ages past but now revealed ( Ephesians 3:1-9; Colossians 1:25-27). This mystery concerns the formation of the Body of Christ, composed of both Jew and Gentile without distinction, saved by grace through faith apart from works of the Law ( Ephesians 2:8-9). This was not the focus of Peter's message at Pentecost, where the emphasis was still the kingdom offer to Israel ( Acts 2-3), tied to repentance, baptism, and awaiting the promised restoration.

James, writing to the twelve tribes ( James 1:1), indeed addressed believing Jews struggling to live out their faith amid trial. His emphasis on works demonstrated the reality of faith within Israel's kingdom program. Paul, by contrast, ministered to Gentiles under the dispensation of grace, emphasizing justification apart from works ( Romans 3:28). The apparent tension between James 2 and Paul's letters resolves when we rightly divide the Word ( 2 Timothy 2:15), understanding different audiences and dispensational contexts.

    Dear Friends in Christ,

A question worth serious thought is this: if the twelve apostles were preaching the same gospel that Paul proclaimed, why was there a need for Paul at all? The Lord did not raise up Paul by accident or redundancy. Christ specifically chose him as "the apostle of the Gentiles" ( Romans 11:13), entrusted with "the dispensation of the grace of God" ( Ephesians 3:2), and revealed to him "the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began" ( Romans 16:25).

The twelve, under Christ's earthly ministry, were commissioned to preach the gospel of the kingdom to Israel, calling for repentance and faith in the promised Messiah, with baptism and law-keeping still in view ( Matthew 10:5-7; Acts 2:38). Their focus remained on the restoration of Israel's kingdom, as foretold by the prophets ( Acts 1:6). Paul's commission, however, centered on the Body of Christ, a new creation in which Jew and Gentile are united by grace through faith alone, apart from works of the law ( Ephesians 2:8-9; Galatians 3:28).

If their message had been identical, Paul's calling would be unnecessary. Instead, his ministry highlights God's progressive revelation-moving from Israel's prophetic hope to the hidden program of grace now revealed. The need for Paul demonstrates that God was unveiling something new: a gospel not rooted in Israel's covenants, but in Christ's finished work at the cross, freely offered to all.

One must believe in Christ's finished work on the cross alone for salvation-nothing you do, add, or contribute can save you.

Trust only His death, burial, and resurrection for eternal life.

    The Apostles (before Paul)

The twelve apostles were sent to Israel under the kingdom program ( Matthew 10:5-7; Galatians 2:7-9). Their preaching emphasized repentance, water baptism, and works consistent with faith ( Acts 2:38; Acts 3:19; James 2:17-24). For them, faith that did not produce works was considered dead. So, none of the twelve are recorded as preaching "faith without works."

    The Apostle Paul

Paul, however, is unique. He is the only apostle who clearly taught justification by faith alone, without works of the law.

    Examples:

"Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law." ( Romans 3:28)

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works..." ( Ephesians 2:8-9)

"But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness." ( Romans 4:5)

Paul preached a new revelation of grace ( Romans 16:25; Galatians 1:11-12), distinct from the kingdom message of the twelve. His gospel revealed that salvation is entirely a gift, apart from law-keeping or works.

The twelve never preached "faith without works." Their message tied faith with repentance and obedience under Israel's covenant program.

Paul alone preached faith without works-the gospel of the grace of God for Jew and Gentile alike.

Question...Should works follow after we are saved

Yes - but it's very important to keep the order straight.

    Salvation Is by Grace Alone-Period!

Paul makes it absolutely clear: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." ( Ephesians 2:8-9). We are saved by faith alone in Christ's finished work, not by anything we do before or after.

    Chris,

Here's a more detailed breakdown for you.

. The Gospel of the Kingdom

Audience: Israel, under the covenants and promises.

Message: The long-promised kingdom, with Messiah reigning on David's throne, was "at hand."

Matthew 4:23 - "And Jesus went about preaching the gospel of the kingdom"

Matthew 10:5-7 - The Twelve were sent only to "the lost sheep of the house of Israel" with this gospel.

Luke 22:29-30 - The apostles are promised to sit on twelve thrones judging Israel in that kingdom.

Acts 3:19-21 - Peter still offers the kingdom if Israel repents, showing this program was continuing post-cross.

This gospel was prophetic, rooted in promises made "since the world began" ( Luke 1:70; Acts 3:21).

    2. The Gospel of the Grace of God (Paul's Gospel)

Audience: Jew and Gentile alike, apart from Israel's covenants.

Message: Christ's death, burial, and resurrection for sins, offering free justification by faith.

Acts 20:24 - Paul calls it "the gospel of the grace of God."

Romans 16:25 - This gospel was "according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began."

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 - The content: Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again.

Galatians 1:11-12 - Paul received it by direct revelation from Christ, not from the Twelve.

This gospel creates the Body of Christ ( 1 Cor. 12:13; Eph. 3:6), uniting Jew and Gentile in one new man.

    3. Jews Responding to Both Programs

Some Jews believed Peter and the Eleven's message of the kingdom ( Acts 2:41; Acts 4:4). James writes to these scattered tribes ( James 1:1), exhorting them in kingdom-related works and endurance.

Other Jews believed Paul's gospel of grace and became part of the Body ( Rom. 11:13-14; 1 Cor. 9:20-22).

    4. Dispensational Distinction

Kingdom Gospel = Israel's prophetic hope on earth.

Grace Gospel = Body of Christ's heavenly hope, revealed through Paul.

Both have Christ as center, but their scope and promises differ.

Question...Should we can't mix the kingdom program (preached by Peter, James, and John) with the mystery gospel given to Paul, focus on right division of Scripture ( 2 Timothy 2:15). Let's affirm that all Scripture is inspired and that both Peter and Paul were called by God. The issue isn't about rejecting any part of the Bible but understanding God's progressive revelation.

Peter and the 12 preached the kingdom gospel-a message prophesied in the Old Testament ( Acts 3:21-24). It focused on Israel, the coming earthly kingdom, and required repentance, water baptism, and obedience to the law ( Acts 2:38; Matthew 19:17). This message was based on Jesus being Israel's promised Messiah and King, And was the correct message for that time.

In contrast, Paul received his gospel by direct revelation from the risen Christ ( Galatians 1:11-12). Paul called it the mystery, which had been hidden from ages past but revealed through him ( Romans 16:25; Ephesians 3:3-5). His message centered on justification by grace through faith alone, apart from works ( Romans 4:5), and introduced the Body of Christ, a new creation made up of both Jews and Gentiles with a heavenly hope, not an earthly kingdom, this is key. (not a earthly kingdom)

Mixing these programs leads to confusion-especially on salvation, baptism, and the church's identity. In Acts 15 and Galatians 2, even the apostles agreed that Paul had a distinct ministry to the Gentiles, apart from the kingdom program of Peter and the 12. Paul even said, "Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel" ( 1 Corinthians 1:17), showing a break from the earlier kingdom requirements. "BAPTISM WAS A KINGDOM REQUIREMENT"

Understanding these differences helps us rightly divide God's Word and see how the church today operates under the dispensation of grace, not under Israel's kingdom law. This isn't rejecting the gospels or Peter or the other 11-it's honoring God's design by keeping the messages in their proper place.

    Hello friends,

This is serious business folks...What Gospel will YOU be judged by?

    Romans 2:16 (KJV)

"In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel."

Context: Paul is warning about God's future judgment and says it will happen according to "my gospel", meaning the message of grace and salvation given to him specifically by revelation (see Gal. 1:11-12).

    Romans 16:25 (KJV)

"Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began."

Context: Paul links his gospel to the "revelation of the mystery", something hidden in past ages but now revealed through him-central to the dispensation of grace.

    2 Timothy 2:8 (KJV)

"Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel."

Context: Written near the end of Paul's life, he again affirms the unique gospel committed to him-focused on the risen Christ and preached even at great personal cost (v.9 says he suffers for it).

Summary of Paul's Use of "My Gospel":

    Paul uses the phrase to:

Emphasize the distinctiveness of the message he received from Christ ( Gal. 1:11-12).

Tie his gospel to the "MYSTERY" revealed only after Christ's resurrection.

Distinguish it from the kingdom gospel that Jesus and the Twelve preached to Israel ( Matt. 10:5-7; Gal. 2:7-9).

Paul is the only apostle who gives detailed revelation about the rapture-the catching away of the Body of Christ-a doctrine unique to his epistles and part of the "mystery" revealed to him by the risen Christ ( Romans 16:25; Ephesians 3:1-9; 1 Corinthians 15:51). Here are the key passages and what Paul says:

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 - The Classic Rapture Passage

"For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout... and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air..."

    (vv. 16-17, KJV)

    Paul describes:

    A resurrection of dead believers.

A snatching away (Greek: harpazo, Latin: rapturo) of the living believers.

A meeting in the air-not Christ coming to Earth (contrast with Second Coming).

A comforting hope unique to the Body of Christ (v. 18).

    1 Corinthians 15:51-53 - A Mystery Revealed

"Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed... in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye"

    Paul explains:

This was previously hidden-a mystery not found in prophecy.

There will be a transformation of living saints.

The event is instantaneous and involves receiving glorified bodies.

Philippians 3:20-21 - Our Heavenly Hope

"For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour... Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body"

    Paul emphasizes:

Our hope is not earthly (kingdom), but heavenly.

Christ will give believers a glorified body like His own.

    Summary:

Paul teaches that the rapture is a mystery revealed only to him for the Body of Christ. It is a pre-judgment event ( 1 Thess. 1:10; 5:9), sudden, and distinct from Christ's return to Earth in judgment (as in Matthew 24 or Revelation). This catching away is the blessed hope ( Titus 2:13) for those saved by grace through faith apart from the Law ( Romans 11:6; Ephesians 2:8-9).

The Bible speaks for itself, no dictionary or man's concordance needed.

The apostle Paul is uniquely identified in Scripture as the chosen vessel through whom God revealed the mystery of the Body of Christ. In Romans 11:13, Paul declares, "I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office." Unlike the Twelve Apostles, who were sent to the lost sheep of the house of Israel ( Matthew 10:5-6), Paul was sent by the risen, glorified Christ from heaven ( Acts 9:15; Galatians 1:11-12) to proclaim a new message-not the Gospel of the Kingdom, but the Gospel of the Grace of God ( Acts 20:24). Paul alone speaks of the "Church which is His Body" ( Ephesians 1:22-23), a new creation made up of both Jew and Gentile, united by faith and baptized by the Holy Spirit into one Body ( 1 Corinthians 12:13; Ephesians 2:14-16).

The Body of Christ was a mystery "kept secret since the world began" ( Romans 16:25) and not revealed until Paul. He was given this revelation by Christ directly ( Ephesians 3:1-9; Colossians 1:24-27) and is the only apostle who teaches its doctrines-such as salvation by grace through faith without works ( Ephesians 2:8-9), the heavenly position of believers ( Colossians 3:1-4), and the rapture of the Church ( 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18). Paul calls himself the "wise masterbuilder" who laid the foundation for this present dispensation of grace ( 1 Corinthians 3:10). The other apostles, including Peter, recognized Paul's distinct apostleship and agreed to confine their ministry to the circumcision, while Paul went to the Gentiles ( Galatians 2:7-9).

No other apostle is identified in Scripture as the apostle of the Body of Christ. Only Paul received the full revelation of the mystery, the doctrines, and the heavenly calling of the Church. Therefore, Paul stands alone as the God-appointed apostle to the Body of Christ.

    Page 1.

Thanks you Lbooth1955 for your posts to me. I've had to collate them so that I'm reading the pertinent ones, since they now appear quite scattered in this long thread. To the points you raised:

    a. Romans 16:25, "..according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began". When I read Paul writing of "my gospel", I don't believe he is suggesting that the Gospel he preached was different to anyone else's Gospel & understanding, rather, that it was the Gospel that was placed upon him to preach which may have had various emphases that others didn't bring up: as when one shares the Gospel to those of another religion - that presentation would be different in parts.

You quoted Ephesians 3:1-9. In verse 5, Paul writes: "Which (the mystery in Christ) in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit". Not just to Paul, but his claim that the other apostles and prophets (those given the gift by the Spirit) were also aware of this mystery, "that the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel". So, Peter, as the other apostles, may have spoken about this mystery, but we aren't told about this.

    b. 2 Peter 3:15,16. If some things that Paul wrote were hard to understand, Peter couldn't be referring to this mystery in Christ, as Peter himself preached to the Gentiles ( Acts 15:7), which I hope we can assume that he at least had some understanding that Gentiles, along with believing Jews, would be saved the same way, viz. the Cross. "And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts by faith" (v9): a clear declaration by Peter that he believed that not only were Jews & Gentiles now fully in God's Salvation Plan, but that it was by faith alone that they would be saved, having their hearts purified. Onto Page 2.

Peter did not preach the mystery that Paul preached because the mystery was not revealed until God gave it specifically to Paul. This is a foundational point in Mid-Acts Dispensationalism, which teaches that there is a clear distinction between Peter's message to Israel and Paul's message to the Gentile-dominated Body of Christ.

The Mystery Was Hidden Until Paul

Paul clearly states that the "mystery" was kept secret since the world began and was first revealed to him:

Romans 16:25 - "...according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began."

Ephesians 3:1-9 - Paul says "by revelation he made known unto me the mystery", and that it "was not made known unto the sons of men" in previous ages.

Colossians 1:25-26 - Paul was made a minister "to fulfill the word of God; Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest."

This means Peter could not have preached what he did not yet know.

Peter Preached to Israel, Not the Body of Christ

Peter's ministry was to the Jews (the circumcision):

Galatians 2:7-9 - Paul and Peter agreed that Peter would go to the circumcision (Israel), and Paul to the uncircumcision (Gentiles).

In Acts 2 and 3, Peter preached Jesus as Israel's Messiah, urging Israel to repent so that God could send Jesus back and restore the kingdom.

Peter's message focused on prophecy being fulfilled-not a mystery being revealed.

The Mystery Involves the Church, the Body of Christ

The "mystery" revealed to Paul involves:

Jew and Gentile in one Body ( Ephesians 3:6)

Salvation by grace without the law ( Galatians 2:16, Romans 3:28)

A heavenly position in Christ ( Ephesians 2:6)

    The rapture of the Body ( 1 Corinthians 15:51-52, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)

These truths are not found in Peter's early preaching in the book of Acts.

    Dear Friend in Christ,

Many today believe that the Church is a continuation or replacement of Israel, often calling it "spiritual Israel." However, when we rightly divide the Word of Truth ( 2 Timothy 2:15), we see that the Church-the Body of Christ-formed through the unique revelation given to the Apostle Paul ( Ephesians 3:1-6), is a distinct entity from the nation of Israel. Israel is a nation with earthly promises, covenants, and prophetic hope, while the Church is a heavenly people, formed without distinction between Jew and Gentile, united by faith alone in Christ and placed into one Body ( 1 Corinthians 12:13; Galatians 3:28).

Israel's promises were national and earthly-God covenanted land, a kingdom, and a Messiah to rule over them ( Genesis 17:7-8; Isaiah 9:6-7). These promises were never transferred to the Church. Instead, Paul reveals a "mystery" that was kept hidden from ages past ( Romans 16:25; Colossians 1:26), in which God is forming a new, heavenly organism-the Body of Christ-composed of both Jew and Gentile, not based on nationality or covenant, but based on grace through faith ( Ephesians 2:8-9). Nowhere in Paul's epistles does he teach that the Church has become Israel or inherits Israel's kingdom promises.

To equate the Church with spiritual Israel confuses God's prophetic program for Israel with His mystery program for the Body of Christ. God has not abandoned His promises to national Israel ( Romans 11:1-2, 25-29). Their fullness will come in a future day, during the millennial reign of Christ. In contrast, the Church was chosen before the foundation of the world and has a heavenly destiny ( Ephesians 1:3-4; Philippians 3:20). Understanding the difference protects sound doctrine and preserves the clarity of God's distinct purposes for Israel and the Church.

    Hello Chris,

Thanks again for your feedback, however I must address the thought that Peter and Paul preached the same message.

That would be like trying to mix oil and water.

PETER'S MESSAGE: FAITH + WORKS UNDER THE LAW

Primarily to Israel ( Matthew 10:5-6; Galatians 2:7-9)

Before and during early Acts (esp. Acts 2-3)

Grounded in prophecy and covenant promises

    Supporting Scriptures:

Acts 2:38 - "Repent, and be baptizedfor the remission of sins"

Acts 3:19 - "Repentthat your sins may be blotted outwhen the times of refreshing shall come"

Matthew 19:17 - "If thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments."

James 2:24 - "By works a man is justified, and not by faith only." (Written to the twelve tribes, James 1:1)

PAUL'S MESSAGE: SALVATION BY GRACE ALONE, WITHOUT WORKS

Sent to the Gentiles and all men ( Romans 11:13; Acts 26:17-18)

Begins mid-Acts ( Acts 9 conversion; commission in Acts 13)

Based on the revelation of the mystery ( Romans 16:25; Ephesians 3:1-9)

    Supporting Scriptures:

Ephesians 2:8-9 - "By grace are ye saved through faithnot of works"

Titus 3:5 - "Not by works of righteousness which we have done"

Romans 3:28 - "A man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law."

Galatians 2:16 - "A man is not justified by the works of the law"

    Final Note (Rightly Dividing View):

Peter preached what God had revealed since the world began ( Acts 3:21), rooted in prophecy.

Paul preached what was kept secret since the world began ( Romans 16:25), revealed through the mystery.

Transition period in Acts explains overlapping elements, but Paul's gospel of grace fully replaces works-based requirements for salvation in the present dispensation.

    thanks again, God Bless!

    Part 3

Because Adam sinned, we all inherit the body of sin. We sin because we are born sinners. As a saved person, we should be reading and praying for clean spiritual health.

    Romans 5:12

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into theworld, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

And be not conformed to thisworld: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

The gospel of grace was hid from the world and was given to Apostle Paul.

    Romans 16:25

Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since theworldbegan,

If Satan would of known the gospel of grace, they would of never kill Jesus Christ.

    1 Corinthians 2:8

Which none of the princes of thisworldknew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

Our spirit in our bodies are being attacked constantly by the evil spirits of this world.

    Ephesians 6:12

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of thisworld, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Why should we follow Paul ? ? But what about following Jesus ? ?

All Twelve Disiples followed Jesus earthly ministry in the four gospels for the kingdom of heaven on earth.

    Matthew 4:19

And he saith unto them,Followme, and I will make you fishers of men.

    Mark 1:18

And straightway they forsook their nets, andfollowed him.

    Luke 5:11

And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, andfollowed him.

    John 1:37

And the two disciples heard him speak, and theyfollowed Jesus.

Why should we follow Apostle Paul ? ?

Jesus Christ in Heaven did say that Apostle Paul was a chosen vessel for the Gentiles.

    Acts 9:15

But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is achosenvesselunto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:

Jesus Christ is the author of the whole Bible.

    Hebrews 12:2

Looking unto Jesus theauthorand finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Jesus Christ wants us to follow Apostle Paul's epistle for doctrine and Salvation.

    1 Corinthians 11:1

Be yefollowers ofme, even as I also am of Christ.

Apostle Paul's doctrine is from Jesus Christ in Heaven.

    Romans 16:17

Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to thedoctrinewhich ye have learned; and avoid them.

Apostle Paul said that we can always learn from the Old Testament and the caring down kingdom of gospel in the four gospels. The death of Jesus Christ started the New Testament

    Hebrews 9:16

For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of thetestator.

    Romans 15:4

For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for ourlearning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

I follow Apostle Paul's epistle in Jesus Christ for Doctrine and Salvation.

    Part 3

Jesus Christ kept the resurrection a secret.

    Matthew 13:35

That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have beenkeptsecretfrom the foundation of the world.

    Jesus Christ has secrets .

    Romans 16:25

Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which waskeptsecretsince the world began,

Apostle Paul was revealed the mystery of Jesus Christ.

    1 Timothy 3:16

And without controversy great is themysteryof godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

Apostle Paul was revealed another mystery.

    Romans 11:25

For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of thismystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

Jesus Christ revealed mystery to Apostle Paul in a revelation.

    Ephesians 3:3

How that by revelation he made known unto me themystery; (as I wrote afore in few words,

Apostle Paul know the mystery of Jesus Christ.

    Ephesians 3:4

Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in themysteryof Christ)

Apostle Paul was given the gospel of grace in a mystery.

    Ephesians 6:19

And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known themysteryof the gospel,

Apostle Paul was given another mystery in Christ Jesus.

    Colossians 1:27

To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of thismysteryamong the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

Will God give us a new body ? ? Will it be like Jesus body and will we be 33 years old ? ?

    Philippians 3:21

Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

We are one body with Christ Jesus.

    Romans 12:5

So we, being many, are onebodyinChrist, and every one members oneofanother.

We are going to be judged according to what we did with our earthly body for the Lord Jesus Christ.

    2 Corinthians 5:10

For we must all appear before the judgment seatofChrist; that every one may receive the things done in hisbody, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

We don't have a new body until we die or be taken up in the clouds to meet Jesus Christ. We only have the Holy Spirit living inside us. We are still sinners, but sin less .

    1 Corinthians 6:19-20

What? know ye not that your body is thetempleof the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

Time is running out, Jesus Christ will call us up .

    Romans 16:20

AndtheGod of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly.Thegrace of ourLordJesus Christbewithyou. Amen.

God bless us all in the Gospel of Grace.

Why is Apostle Paul warning us about? ?

Are there people that don't want to hear the gospel of grace in Christ Jesus ? ?

    Philippians 3:18-20

18(For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ:

19Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.)

20For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

Will we suffer persecution for spreading the gospel of grace ? ?

    2 Timothy 3:12

Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall sufferpersecution.

Now take the word " Circumcised " out for a second and add these words, repenting , baptized, tithing or working . It's amazing that we are in bondage to do something for Salvation.

    Galatians 6:12

As many as desire to make a fair shew in the flesh, they constrain you to be circumcised; only lest they should sufferpersecutionfor the cross of Christ.

Who are this people that are putting us in bondage, when the gospel of grace is free .

    2 Corinthians 11:13-15

13For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.

14And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

15Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

Apostle Paul wants to write down the person that are causing trouble with the gospel of grace and avoid them .

    Romans 16:17

Now I beseech you, brethren, markthemwhich cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoidthem.

May our God in the Third Heaven protect us from wickedness.

Why did Jesus call Mother Mary woman ? ? Was Jesus Christ being disrespectful to His earthly Mother ? ?

    John 19:26

When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother,Woman, behold thy son!

Now, back in Genesis, Jesus Christ was the spoken word talking to Adam and Eve. I believe Jesus Christ was reminded Mother Mary of Genesis. It was victory that was going to happen for mankind.

    Genesis 3:15

And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and betweenthyseed and her seed; it shallbruisethyhead, and thou shaltbruisehisheel.

If anyone would of known that the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ would of been for Salvation for all , Satan would of stopped it.

    1 Corinthians 2:8

Which none of the princes of this world knew:forhadtheyknownit, theywould nothavecrucified the Lord of glory.

Because the gospel of grace, the women became free from bondage and can work in the workplace. Apostle Paul recognized that a women was important to the ministry.

I commend unto you Phebe our sister, which is a servant of the church which is at Cenchrea:

    Romans 16:1

That ye receive her in the Lord, as becometh saints, and that ye assist her in whatsoever business she hath need of you: for she hath been a succourer of many, and of myself also.

    Romans 16:3-4

3 Greet Priscilla and Aquila my helpers in Christ Jesus:

4 Who have for my life laid down their ownnecks: unto whom not only I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles.

May we all remember the gospel of grace in the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Why should we be " in Christ " ? ? Who invented " in Christ " ? Are special people become " in Christ " ?

When Jesus died and was Resurrected, He took the Saints from the grave with Him . Every Jew that got saved , they became in Christ .

    Romans 16:7

Salute Andronicus and Junia, my kinsmen, and my fellow-prisoners, who are of note among the apostles, who also wereinChristbefore me.

All Salvation from the time Jesus Christ death, burial and resurrection are saved " in Christ " automatically. Apostle Peter recognized his Jewish followers as " in Christ ".

    1 Peter 5:14

Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity. Peace be with you all that areinChristJesus. Amen.

Apostle Paul recognized his followers as " in Christ".

    2 Corinthians 1:21

    Now he which stablisheth us with youinChrist, and hath anointed us, is God;

Because of Jesus Christ being the redeemer for the whole world on the cross and finished nailing everything, we are now justified and it didn't cost anything but our faith in believing.

    Romans 3:24

Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that isinChristJesus:

We that are all saved in the Body of Christ.

    Romans 12:5

So we, being many, are one bodyinChrist, and every one members one of another.

We can receive wisdom for being in Christ.

    1 Corinthians 1:30

But of him are yeinChristJesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

Apostle Paul always writes to believers. Remember, Jesus Christ is ascended in Heaven. If Jesus Christ didn't have the Godhead, he couldn't of died on the cross, it would of been impossible.

    Philippians 2:5-6

5Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

6Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

Because of the sinful flesh Jesus Christ had, God was in Christ Jesus as one.

    2 Corinthians 5:19

To wit, thatGodwas in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us thewordofreconciliation.

Jesus Christ was the voice and Word in Genesis .

    Genesis 3:14-15

14And theLordGod said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

15And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

Jesus Christ spoke in Genesis about bruising Satan's heel.

    Romans 16:20

And the God of peace shallbruiseSatan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

Jesus Christ was always the Son of God and took on flesh by the virgin Mary.

    John 1:14

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Jesus Christ is our Saviour God.

    Titus 1:3

    But hath in due times manifested hiswordthrough preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandmentofGodour Saviour;

    Jesus Christ is the Word.

    1 John 5:7

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, theWord, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

May we all believe that Jesus Christ is a Man, Sevant, King , Saviour, and our God in three persons.

    The Doctrine of Grace .

The more I read Apostle Paul's epistle, the more the doctrine will make me see false preachers and teachers today.

    Romans 16:17

Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to thedoctrinewhich ye have learned; and avoid them.

At one time I would listen to every preacher out there and think it was good doctrine, but I was not the doctrine of today , it only made things more confusing.

    Ephesians 4:14

    That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind ofdoctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

I thank God Almighty for Grace Believers not being in the Tribulation. It's only going to get worse with doctrines of devils.

    1 Timothy 4:1

    Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, anddoctrines of devils;

There is hope for doctrine today and that is Apostle Paul's epistle.

    Titus 2:1

But speak thou the things which become sounddoctrine:

Apostle Paul told the Corinthians to follow him, Apostle Paul has the doctrine of grace.

    1 Corinthians 11:1

Be yefollowers ofme, even as I also am of Christ.

Apostle Paul did not walk with Jesus like the 12 Disiples in the flesh, Paul is separated from that with his doctrine.

    Romans 1:1

Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,

    Apostle Paul has a doctrine.

    2 Timothy 3:10

But thou hast fully known mydoctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,

The whole Bible has doctrine, but which doctrine do we follow today for living in the gospel of grace. " Apostle Paul "

    2 Timothy 3:16

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable fordoctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Hi Bennymkje, thanks for all you're work. If I may add some mystery to the study.

The mystery in God was given to Apostle Paul. Apostle Paul calls his gospel " mine ".

    Romans 16:25

Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of themystery, which was kept secret since the world began,

Apostle Paul was the first to know that the resurrection of Christ Jesus saves just by believing and that is his gospel . 1 Corinthians 15:1-4

    Ephesians 6:19

And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known themysteryof the gospel,

Apostle Paul was the first to know Jesus Christ is God in the flesh and was resurrected from the dead.

    1 Timothy 3:16

And without controversy great is themysteryof godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

Apostle Paul was the first to know the Rapture. It's coming soon .

    1 Corinthians 15:51

Behold, I shew you amystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,

I think it best to take interest in Apostle Paul's mystery the Jesus Christ our God gave him.

    Hello MotherMac,

Thank you so much for your kind message. I am also thankful for you and everyone else who comes here with something to share because we learn from each other. Romans is one of my favorite books. It's where we come to learn the truth of Christ, the truth of God's justice system, and what Christ has done for us.

It is such a blessing to us all to be able to come here and share our love for the Lord and to fellowship together by sharing what knowledge and understanding we receive from Him. I would like to make one correction to what I shared on Romans 16:18. I meant to say naive in both places, not nave.

Again, thank you and may the Lord continue to speak to our hearts and minister to us, and out of His faithfulness continue to draw us to His word so we can be established and grounded in the foundation of the Christian faith. I have nothing to boast of in my knowledge or understanding. The Lord may use me from time to time, but I'm just one beggar telling another beggar where to find bread.

    Blessings to you in Christ!

    (Romans Part 36):

Romans 16:18 - For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple.

For they are such as serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; which is a term that is used for their own satisfaction. And by good words. Interesting that this is the word useful. With useful words and fair speeches (and this is the word eulogy), they deceive the hearts of the simple. The word simple means nave. With useful words and fair speeches, they deceive the people who are nave. That's what it is saying.

Romans 16:27 - To God only wise, be glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen.

So, he says to the only wise God. That's its literal translation, to the only wise God. The only God, and the only wise God. He's only wisdom and He's the only God. Is glory, and if we understand this, he is making a deity presentation that the only wise God is glory through Jesus Christ forever. Amen.

The word glory in Greek has to do with substance. The SHEKINAH glory in the Old Testament was the substance of God appearing in the holy of holies. When you hear the word glory, it would be incorrect for me to do something in the human and say, "Give God the glory." That's just giving Him credit for the good that I do because I don't want to take the credit for myself. Glory means His substance, His Spirit, His presence. The only wise God is glory through Jesus Christ. He is revealing Himself, His substance through Jesus Christ forever. Amen.

Well, that is all I have to share from Romans. I will begin with 1 Corinthians soon, Lord willing!

Blessings to you all in Christ!

    (Romans Part 35):

Romans 16:6 - Greet Mary, who bestowed much labour on us.

It says Greet Mary. It is literally Mariam, one of six Mary's mentioned in the New Testament. We don't know who she is but we know he said who bestowed much labour on us. The word labour in the Greek means work to the point of exhaustion.

Romans 16:10 - Salute Apelles approved in Christ. Salute them which are of Aristobulus' household.

Salute Apelles approved in Christ. The word approved is the word DOKIMADZO that means to approve after testing. That is a very important word. It's the word used for a Christian. 1 Peter Chapter 1 tells us that the genuineness of our faith is put to the test and proven.

Romans 16:17 - Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.

Now I appeal to you, brethren, and listen to this, the command. Mark them which cause divisions and offences. The word mark is the word SKOPOS. We get our word scope from this word. And it is in a Present Participle form in the Greek, which means continue to observe. Be continually looking at those who cause divisions and offenses (SCANDALONS), contrary to the doctrine which you have learned.

Paul said in Galatians Chapter 1 that if anybody preaches any other gospel than that which he has preached, let them be accursed. That's pretty bold and authoritative. If they don't preach, or if they preach contrary to the doctrine which Paul has taught and has given them, mark them. That's command number one. Command number two is avoid them.

The word avoid means to go out of your way to avoid them. It's the word bend in the Greek. If you are walking right at somebody, just bend yourself right around them. You give them the message that they are teaching false doctrine.

    CONCLUSION: GOD IS ALWAYS WISE

    Pt. 9

In all that God does, He seeks His own glory, which is right and just to do so because He is the best Being we could ever be in right relationship with. God, seeking to be glorified in His grace and mercy in the saints is what benefits us fully. We receive the riches of God in Christ when we are elected and are recipients of His mercy and grace.

At the end of Romans 11 Paul waxes into adoration and praise to God. Perhaps He stopped in his writing of these inspired words to reread and was overwhelmed as He realized that these words show forth the great measureless wisdom of God in saving sinners and keeping His covenant with Israel.

We find this exquisite doxology in verse 33-36

" Oh, the depths of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments; and His ways past finding out!

For who hath known the mind of the Lord; or who hath been His counsellor?

Or who hath first given to Him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again? For of Him, and through Him, and to Him, are all things, to whom be the glory forever. Amen."

    Romans 16:27

"To God only wise, be through Jesus Christ glory forever and ever. Amen."

It is in Jesus Christ that we come to know the wisdom of God. When we are saved and in Christ, we glory in His grace and mercy, for saving a sinner, like me and all the saints. We have nothing to boast about in ourselves. Only we boast in Jesus Christ alone, who saved us for Himself, a holy people, for the praise of His glorious grace and power. He is our wisdom, power, and redemption. He is our greatest treasure. We would know nothing of God's wisdom in creating humanity as He did as vessels of wrath and in His mercy, causing the elect to become vessels of mercy in Jesus Christ. ( Rom. 9:25-29).
