    The Gospel of Luke

Luke 22:31-32 31 And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:

32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.

Ugh. Next to the sufferings of Christ on the cross this may be the hardest scripture to take in. Whew.

Other than Job; there are no other accounts where such an event of permission to attack a saint by Satan himself is mentioned; although there are other occasions when clearly deception was given to the false prophets and collateral damage likely ensued with some of the plagues when David sinned that God allowed but the enemy no doubt wouldn't object to to say the least.

This is savage; there are no minced words here. Peter had been warned previously; I believe in Matthew 16:23 how wishing to escape death for the Messiah was a Satanically inspired comment. Now; Peter himself though his own fear and weakness would buckle to the pressure and deny Christ to save his own skin. Now we do observe that all the other Disciples also ran off; but they didn't have the audacity to make such a statement that they were ready to die for Him ( John 13:37).

Jesus knew that eventually he would be "converted" and strengthen his brothers; that looking ahead to Pentecost no doubt. There were further admonitions at that point as to the veracity and strength of Peter's love at that point which prophecy about Peter's own death to come.

We have the hard truth here that apparently Jesus granted Satan's request. John 18:8-9 showed prophetically that for the time being the disciples were not to be arrested and killed based on John 17:12 which had just been said before this. This is the only time I know of that Jesus referred to any New Testament statement as a prophetic fulfillment; but Peter should have known His prayers would be answered; as well as the promises for him to be the rock ( Matt. 16:18) of the church.

John and the week before the Crucifixion.

John records in chapters 12-17 the events in the last week of Christ's ministry leading up to his capture in verse 18 and the Crucifixion itself in chapter 19. Once again I hope I read the text carefully in order to say that here there are no further miracles demonstrated in His ministry. The controversy over Lazarus would start events rolling with the insane desire to have both him and Christ killed off ( John 12:9-11). The actual excoriation as I put it of the Pharisees is absent in John's account. Jesus in this Gospel is given much more emphasis as to His discourse with the Disciples which involved themes of the Trinity; His necessity to leave and comfort about the coming Spirit and His coming again and the prayer for the church as a whole in chapter 17. I shouldn't neglect the prophetic warnings in chapter 16 in being put to death.

The fact that 1/3 of the Gospels involves "Passion week" is significant. There was no time to waste; as Jesus knew the great shock to come would catch them off guard; that they would all run away and needed assurance as to the Spirit's role in transformation. Details about His death and resurrection are in all 4 gospels as it is no doubt the most significant aspect of His ministry as pertaining to us; even today. John 19:26 is the last mention of what are said to be 6 mentionings of "the one Jesus loved" in regard to John the author of this Gospel. At first glance that would seem rather arrogant. Maybe someone here has some insight; I would surmise that:

    1) John was part of the group who went up in the Transfiguration. Interestingly; this event is NOT covered in John but in the other 3 Gospel accounts as well as 2 Peter. This would constitute the "inner circle" so to speak.

    2) John laid across his bosom ( John 13:23).

    3) Jesus Himself mentioned "if I want him to remain; what is that to you" in John 21:22 responding to Peter. He would die a natural death before then.

    Hello Bibleschooled,

We this in Matthew 19:12 where it says For there are some eunuchs, and a eunuch is somebody who is unable to produce children. That is just a general definition without getting too technical.

But there are some eunuchs, first of all, which were so born from their mother's womb. They were born with a physical defect and are not able to produce children.

And there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: That is, people take them and they castrate them, which is what they did for the guards that had to guard the harems for the various royalty and kings. They were castrated so that they would not have a desire for a woman.

And there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. That's personal. It's a calling, and it is self-discipline!

In first Corinthians Chapter 7, Paul answered the question, and again this is the area of marriage and divorce, and remarriage for the Gentiles. Paul says it is best if everybody is just a like I am.

But Paul says that he is single, and it is best if you stay like I am. And if you have the grace to do it, stay single. That is 1 Corinthians 7:8.

But, he says in 1 Corinthians 7:9 that if you cannot contain yourself, and you are burning with passion, then it is better to get married.

Those are the three kinds of people. People born with the physical defect, people who have been castrated, or a personal calling that God is giving you the grace to be single, or God hasn't given you the grace to be single, and you are burning with passion. Then he says it is best to get married.

So basically, a eunuch is someone who is incapable of producing children.

    Hope this helps!

Throughout the Bible, does the word "eunuch" refer to a person who casts aside his desire for sex and family in order to be fully devoted to serving God or fully dedicated to a king and/or his palace? Or does the word refer to a man's sex organs and sexuality?

    Mark 12:33

"And to love him with all the heart, and with all the understanding, and with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love his neighbour as himself, is more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices."

    Mark 12:34

"And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that durst ask him any question."

    I meant 1 John 2:15 reads,

"Love (Agapao) not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love (Agapao) the world, the love (Agape) of the Father is not in him.

I'm not sure but I believe the difference between Agapao and Agape is the benevolence or out pouring of God's love to and through the believer.

We see that in Agape and the things and people of God is the object.

    Blessings.

    Hi Pjmdy.

There's several words for Love in the Bible written in the Greek.

    Here's just a few.

Phileo means friendly love while Eros denotes passionate, romantic love.

    Ludus (playful love)

    Pragma (enduring love)

Agape" is probably the Greek word for love we are most familiar with.

Agape represents unconditional, selfless love, This Love is described as "to be totally given over to something or someone".

I believe it depends on what Spirit you have in you.

Agape is a fruit of the Spirit that causes us to Love God, the things of God and the children of God.

When this benevolence is displayed by the Children of God "toward the children of God" it displays the true followers of Christ.

John 13:34-35 is one of the most relevant set of verses for us as Christians.

It's not a command but rather a statement of fact. ( You will love one another)

Verse 35 says "By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples" This is caused by the Spirit of God in you!

I believe the Spirit of God directs this unconditional selfless love, to the things and people of God.

If a person have not the Spirit of God in them then John 3:19 is for them.

( And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved (Agapao) darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.)

1 John 2:15 reads, "Love (Agape) not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love (Agape) the world, the love (Agape) of the Father is not in him.

I'm not sure but I believe the difference between Agapao and Agape is the benevolence or out pouring of God's love to and through the believer.

We see that in Agape and the things and people of God is the object.

    Blessings.

    Pjmdy,

In the King James Bible, the word love is mentioned over 300 times. There are two types of love, human love (PHILEO) and Godly love (AGAPE). Human love is a type of love that is expressed by both believers and non-believers. Godly love can only be expressed by believers. This type of love in the bible is called AGAPE love, and it is a fruit of God's Spirit, meaning it is produced by God ( Galatians 5:22).

A person who has been born of God's Spirit expresses Godly love (AGAPE) because His Spirit in them produces this type of love. A human being cannot produce this type of love.

We also know from 1 John 4:8 that love is a person, and that person is God. AGAPE is a noun that is strictly associated with God Himself. He is love!

We see in the bible ( Matthew 22:37) where is says love the Lord thy God., and love thy neighbor, and this is the word AGAPE, not PHILEO, meaning it is not human love. The only way we are able to love the Lord thy God, and love our neighbor is if we have God's Spirit in us. He gives us the ability and capacity to do so. This type of love also causes us to have a deep concern for the spiritual wellbeing of others.

    I hope this helps!

    Aer805,

You are quite welcome. I'm happy to share and it is always nice to hear when others like you might be blessed or helped in some way by the things I share. Knowledge not shared is wasted knowledge. If I may offer some advice to you, I would encourage you to study the bible every chance you get. It is through His word that we come to know Christ more and more, and it is through His word that we grow and mature in Him.

Thank you so much for your message. It gives me encouragement. I hope that sometime you might share with us how your studies are progressing, as the Lord leads. My prayer is that the Lord will always give you a hunger and desire for His word and that you prayerfully approach His word before your studies, asking Him for understanding and that He might reveal the things He knows you are ready for. ( 2 Timothy 2:15)

May the Lord bless you also!

    Thank you Jesse.

Was so busy last few days that i did not read this Discussion Section. When i read what you wrote, even though it is not a long commentary, you have point out something that I have been keeping deep inside my heart about believers. It is easy to just claim the membership as a believer, it is very hard to last till the end. Great work.

Hi dear Grace friends, in Jesus name. I have some serious word who hawe hunted me today. And i want to bring it before you all sweet people, and graciously faithful people. Full of grace, truth and love. I love you all!

I wondering of the word, of God and rememered something il read. at first i thought it was Jesus words, but it is not. Its in Jac.4:3. But often He said that we needed to pray. Joh 16:24 and Joh 14:13. And He will give the answer. So i look to myself and wondering, why its so hard nowadayes to have a breakthru in pray? Is it me who have something unforgiven? Or what is it? I searched for this for myself. And came to a terrible conclusion. My God expect from me to give my whole heart! He want me to give my self for Him who have saved me. He have given me peace, insight, knowledge, certainly, learning and most if all His trust and love and much more.

First He need much Attention, praice, my tears. Full surrender and love for my friends. Much of this i give always and every day. Anyway this is serious things. No one can expekt an answer to prayer if this is not on the wallpaper. I can not rest on my laurels anymore. The word led me further to the ten virgins. Mat 25:1 Five of them have enough oil in their lamps. i wonder of in this though. So what ever i do, let it be the best i can do. Not half hearted always have good time for Him. Always full of spirit and soul and never a pray without belive. With praise and surrender and full attention on what i can do for my Lord, Savior, and King, He will be fearsome that day He come back. Remember how God Him Self said to the Moses when he got the ten commandments. Exodus 33:5

And now we are in the last hour! 1 Joh 2:18. This applies to all of us. No one of Jesus ppl have time to do half-finished pray anymore. Amen! God be with us il pray.

Thoughts on Easter and the coming of the Lord

First of all; as many would state correctly Easter is essentially a Pagan event coming from the word ishtar. Jesus was the final Passover as it were ( 1 Cor. 5:7).

I have been in the persuasion to some extent that the last trump mentioned signifying the Rapture ( 1 Cor. 15:52) may be different than the last trumpet judgment which seems to correspond with a time marker; perhaps the translation of the Tribulation saints.

At any rate if the Rapture did occur around this time of year; what would those left behind celebrate?

Passover reminds us of how we are to eat in haste ( Exodus 12:11-13); and this should also be our attitude in doing things while there is still day as it were to fulfill the Great Commission and expect His arrival at any day now. In this case haste doesn't make waste; it is the object of our efforts that motivates us. It doesn't mean being reckless in how we spread the truth or mean we should be void of wisdom; but it does mean that we should be swift to put Him first as a priority and time above all our other work and give Him glory in anything else we do besides outright evangelism.

For the world; it will be this way For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. ( Isaiah 60:2).

Judgment begins with the house of God; one could argue if this means just the church or perhaps the nation of Israel or both in the Tribulation (at least new believers). Again I am not going to make this a deep analysis of eschatology but will say that we need to be preparing our hearts daily and that it is preferable to repent now rather than chance being left behind. Whether that means become a Christian now or get our affairs in order as a believer to be delivered from lukewarmness again isn't something I am specifying. We want to certainly avoid a Revelation 3:11 error.

    Rejoice ( Philippians 4:4).

    Intro to Matthew 23: continued

Secondly; it was the last public event before the crucifixion where He had the opportunity to speak freely in public. We must remember that He would only say what the Father gave Him to say ( John 12:49). Surely God the Father knew what was about to happen and had righteous indignation as to the blindness of those who were ruling over His people unjustly. He knew that they were the ones who would help to propel Pilate to go through with the crucifixion. At this point God's patience was running out; for there would be no more signs and miracles apart from the Resurrection which no doubt they would disregard and buy into the insane narrative that the body was stolen.

Further thoughts on Matthew 22 and Christ's interactions with the Pharisees; Saducees and Herodians.

It is ironic to consider all of the religious establishment and their multiple and sequential attacks on the same occasion as we see here events within the last week of Christ's earthly ministry that spans from Matthew 21 to 27 followed; of course by His Resurrection early in the morning in the beginning of the following week in Matthew 28. Jesus of course knew that the betrayal of Judas would lead to the cross and the hour of darkness; as well as the fact that all efforts before that were to be futile.

This study began with looking into Christ as the perfect man and of course operating in Divine perfection as well. The earlier passage where the Pharisees in verse 16 spoke of the fact that He didn't favor anyone (as God is an impartial judge ( Deut. 10:17) is a true statement of His unique character. We are to turn to Matthew 23 next; although I have some things I'd like to interject in the interim. I will use this section as a preface to the next chapter.

    Matthew 23: Introduction

This chapter is totally involved with a verbal excoriation of the Pharisees. We will examine it in detail in a future posting. There are several hypothesis we can come to in seeing this extensive rebuke (although that isn't really a strong enough word).

First of all; this follows the end of what was no doubt not the first time the Pharisees had; to put it mildly-interrupted His ministry. Not to mention all the assassination plots and attempts; there were blasphemous accusations that He was using the powers of darkness to cast out demons; that He was born as a bastard (or illegitimate; KJV sounds more jarring); that He was a glutton and winebibber (again KJV emphasis); and other such judgments as to His character. Every time the miraculous happened; there would be questioning; if not of Him; the man being healed such as an entire chapter 9 of John.

I want to thank our God for this place, may He protect us at every dawn. I want to pick myself up from John 3:5-7. for as in the next verse and in His grace

The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its voice, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit. John 3:8.

I also want to ask for prayer because I'm re-reading the old testament and in the book of Habakkuk 2:1-20. I've also been reading the book of Isaiah at the same time, I'm at verse 33 and I rested only after hearing the prophet's sweet message.

If you have any suggestions on where to start 'again', they say that John is the best, because there we understand what Love really is.

    Matthew 22:33

The crowds as usual rejoiced in what Jesus said. This could be for several reasons; since many no doubt hated the religious establishment and perhaps non Jews were scattered about that felt the same way. They also could rejoice that there is a resurrection or just the fact that they perceived Jesus as a very clever guy.

    Matthew 22:34-38

Jesus responded to the Pharisees in their third attempt to confuse or trap Him. The greatest commandment was listed as an amalgamation of the Old Testament commands. The first command was the literal first command of the Ten Commandments. The second appears in Leviticus 19:18 which many may not know.

Studying scripture further we see two examples of the 10 Commandments; both in Deuteronomy and Exodus. The idea of not coveting anything of your neighbor such a His wife (commandment #10); or committing adultery (7th Commandment) certainly show how the idea of a neighbor can tie together as one example. Sins are against God in all cases but may or may not affect other people. As to who a neighbor is we see that illustrated in Luke 10:29 which goes beyond just caring for fellow Israelites.

    Matthew 22:39-end

Jesus then asks the Pharisees who the Son of man is; and quotes Psalm 110. Their concept of being a physical son of David was only in regard to the descendants of Joseph. Some of course accused Christ of being illegitimate; but the truth was that He also was NOT a physical descendant of David as we would think. This interesting truth comes from a promise made to Jeconius in Jeremiah 22 that NONE of his descendants would be king. This is another explanation of the need for a Virgin birth. No doubt Satan was watching things very carefully as we see the many attempts to destroy God's people in this lineage not the least of which was prophesied in Jeremiah 31:15 and fulfilled in Matthew 2:16-18.

It appears after this that no one asked Him any questions. His greatest trial was soon to come.

    Matthew 22:15-22

This section involves the religious rulers in the first of 3 attempts to trap Jesus. Verse 16 states "Teacher," they said, "we know that you are a man of integrity and that you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. You aren't swayed by others, because you pay no attention to who they are.

Sounds like a compliment but the idea was for Jesus to say something that could allow them to accuse Him of. Caesar's tax was something that could get the Romans to pursue Jesus if He stated that it wasn't necessary to pay it. We are reminded somewhat of His comments in Matthew 17:27 where Jesus asked Peter to fish a coin out the mouth of a fish so as not to insult the person asking for tribute tax. Is it possible someone heard Him and the response to Peter? At any rate if He said that it should be paid then the Pharisees and others would be upset since they hated the Romans and for the bigger reason; no doubt that they were covetous for everything they could get their hands on. Jesus simply stated to pay what is obligated to both.

This situation could be extrapolated to those today who wish to circumvent the law of the land in not paying taxes. There are taxes also which allow one to live in many Muslim nations which no doubt are unjust but it beats death; at least premature to God's timing in being a witness for Christ. My point would be that unjust subjugation isn't the issue; but unjust use of money collected if directly going against Scripture is an issue. That is not something I am going to pursue further here.

    Test #2 Matthew 22: 23-32, crowd response verse 33

The Pharisees used the Herodians to test Christ; in this case we had the Sadducees who didn't believe in a Resurrection asking a question about that very subject regarding whose wife someone would have if a woman married seven times and each husband died before she did. Whatever their aim; the Resurrection was justified along with an explanation of a heavenly body

what does the kjv bible say about love
  • Richard H Priday - In Reply - 1 year ago
Dear Jennifer: I am assuming you are married as to the way you listed your name. I mention that because obviously that is a huge part of your walk with the Lord if that is the case.

There's a lot I'd like to say but perhaps specific issues that crop up can be dealt with in continuing dialogue.

I feel a need to emphasize that human acceptance or rejection should never affect your witness. Hear me out here-it certainly does not mean that we are; as Paul Simon said in one of his songs "I am a rock; I am an island" in the second stanza and the third

    I've built walls

    A fortress deep and mighty

    That none may penetrate

I have no need of friendship, friendship causes pain

    It's laughter and it's loving I disdain

I am a rock I am an island

I ask the monitors here allow this part of a secular song to illustrate how; as scripture says we can harden ourselves

    Proverbs 18:19 states

A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city: and their contentions are like the bars of a castle.

So unforgiveness is something we need the Lord to remove for efeffectiveness. Also we need to allow ourselves to be righteously angry with the enemy of our souls (only through the Spirit NOT our own anger); as well as with injustices in general and the harm inflicted by others sin and the sins themselves. Remember that the whole world is under the power of the evil one ( 1 John 5:19).

Fellowship is important along with our own personal walk. He desires us to fulfill the Great Commission and use the gifts He has given us within the Body of Christ. It is helpful to get input from others of what our gifts are as they often can see it much clearer than we can.

I would also emphasize that ministering to others brings us healing; and the same goes for prayer. Remember NOT going out there or sins of omission are as important as those we commit. Others need the input you have as a part of the Body of believers.

Hope a few of these things are edifying.

    (Hebrews Part 18b):

    Hebrews 6:6 Continued

One of them is a person that's excitingly, with joy, hears the word. But then when tribulations come, and by the way that's how you grow, through trials and tribulations, but when the tribulation came, they quit because it's not exciting anymore.

Now it's down to living life. Now it's down to trusting the Lord, and learning how to live by faith! And to the flesh, sometimes it's not as exciting as it first was. So, they quit! And remember what I shared with you before, the indication in the bible that a person is saved is that they make it all the way to the end. All saved people make it all the way to the end.

A person who is not saved can look, and act, and talk, and believe just like a normal believer. They may even see some of these people driving cars full of Jesus bumper stickers, and then one day, they just disappear.

So, just because a person is enlightened to the truth, enlightened by the Holy Spirit, and has tasted of these things, that does not make them a saved person. Again, the proof that one is saved is that they make it to the end. Why? Because we are kept by the power of God for salvation!

So, he encourages the believers to move past the foundation doctrines and elements of the things of the Lord, mainly because the people who stay in that area can either be saved or unsaved. There's some that taste of the Holy Spirit, they partake of the Holy Spirit, they get the knowledge and enlightenment of the basic truths and foundations of the things of Christ, and they might even in their mind believe that it's true.

But he's showing them that moving on shows you're saved. Right now, you're dull of hearing. I won't say that you're not saved, but you're dull of hearing. So, I encourage you in your Spiritual growth to get your senses exercised by God's word. If not, you'll just drop out and it will just prove that you're not the real thing!

    (Hebrews Part 18a):

Hebrews 6:6 - If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

We have the sixth thing in Verse 6, and I'll share with you the literal translation. It says if they shall fall away. There's no "if" in the Greek text. It's just after having fallen away. They've already done it. It's after having fallen away. And you can see in all these things that he's listing that they are all past tense.

Verse 4 started off by saying it's impossible for these people. Verse 6 says to renew them again unto repentance; Impossible!

Seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to open shame. These are Hebrews and Jews who went back into Judaism and denounced the whole thing, and were back professing their unbelief, and hatred and anger toward the Lord, and they were doing it publicly.

That doesn't mean that a Gentile can't do that. There are many people over the years that have. A person can be in a group with believers and seem just like everyone else but not be saved. They can be sitting in your church, participating just like everyone else, and still not be saved.

They can even give up their old lifestyle and seem to be following the Lord and then after some time just walk away and go right back to where they were before. And people might wonder what happened because they seemed like a believer.

Well, if you understand the Parable of the Sower, you know what happened. Only one out of the four people that received the seed gets saved. There are three others that heard the same thing that the saved person hears, but they have different reactions.

    (Hebrews Part 17):

Hebrews 6:5 - And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,

Again, we see the word tasted. All these tastes, it's like sampling. A non-believer can sit in with believers and receive the same ministry of God's Spirit to that group, even in their own life, as to the truth of Christ, but still not be saved.

And the powers of the world to come. They were actually there to participate. I recall the ten lepers that approached Jesus and wanted their healing. So, Jesus healed the ten lepers and sent them on their way, and only one of them stopped and returned to worship the Lord. And the Lord turns to the disciples and says weren't there ten lepers?

Nine of them just took their healing and took off. Only one turned to worship Christ. There are people who participate in the powers of God's Spirit moving in amongst His people, and they're not even saved.

    (Hebrews Part 16):

Hebrews 6:4 - For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,

Please notice in this verse all the past tense verbs. The word enlightened (PHOTIZO) means to have your mind illuminated to the truth. Some say that only believers can be enlightened but that's not true. We are told in John 1:9 that the light, who is Christ, enlightens every man coming into this world. Every person is enlightened to the truth.

Paul tells us in Romans Chapter 1 (beginning at Verse 18) that no one has an excuse when standing before God, because even creation testifies to the very attributes of God. In other words, the Holy Spirit uses creation as an initial enlightenment for every human being. But that doesn't mean that every human being hears the gospel message.

Every person is enlightened but not everybody responds in the same way. A person can be enlightened to the truth about Christ and still refuse to receive Him. So, these people were being enlightened but they weren't saved.

Secondly: and have tasted of the heavenly gift. They've participated with the things of Christ. They have participated with the Holy Spirit. They don't have Him living inside, but they tasted of that heavenly gift that God gives to His people. They're sitting in amongst God's people and they're participating. They are getting a taste.

And were made partakers of the Holy Ghost. Please notice the emphasis. They were partakers, that is they were in this interaction and the Holy Spirit was ministering to them. They were partaking of the Holy Spirit as He was enlightening them.

But please notice that it says they were partakers of the Holy Spirit. The emphasis is the Holy Spirit, not Christ. The Holy Spirit's the one that's ministering. They didn't know Christ. They never received Him.

    (Hebrews Part 15):

I would like to spend a little bit of time going over Hebrews 6:4-6 because there's a salvation issue here.

In these verses, the writer describes the salvation process, but he also describes people who are not saved. Please know that there's a mixed group we are dealing with in the book of Hebrews. There are Hebrews that believe, and there are Hebrews that have been enlightened to the truth, they know the truth, they understand the truth but have never surrendered their life to Christ. Those are the ones who are thinking of going back and giving up the whole Christian thing because of the persecution, and the hardship.

So, in Verses 4 through 6, the salvation process, I would like to share some details on this and hopefully you're able to understand it, and it will make this text clearer.

There are many teachers that use this text to show that a believer can lose their salvation, not understanding that he's talking to people who have been listening and receiving the truth, and understanding the truth, but then ready to go back and not make that final surrender to Christ, because they say you can't be enlightened unless you're a Christian. But that simply is not true. A non-believer can be enlightened to the truth and still remain unsaved their entire life. So, an enlightened person does not mean that the person is saved.
