I am almost coming to end of my ministry having systematically dealt with Scripture that was out there but imposter churches dare not touch lest they lose all worldly advantages their shepherding they have had. They hold truth in unrighteousness to say the least. My 82 years have taught me that the Bible is inerrant. If it is lost to them it is for them to do something about it. "But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:/In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them."(2 Cor.4.3-4)

A couple of days ago I experienced a dream and it encourages me that my service to explain the truth revealed to me is not lost. I preached it to the great congregation and shall be the norm in His time. My prayer also has been that the glory should all go to God so I may work my to the end whatever mysteries are left veiled. What I have set down is free for use to anyone. It is not on Public domain but in God's domain. Meta is planning to appropriate their contents in instagram and other platform and let AI sell it to third parties. In view of this I simply state anyone who meddles with God's word for unworthy ends the same warning applies:"For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:/ And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."(Rev.22.18-19)

Rom.1.18-19 "For God has shown to them"

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;/Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them." In the fall of man we have precisely an illustration of it.

'And the firmament sheweth his handywork'(Ps.19.1b) God named it the heaven and mind you, not the heavens."And God called the firmament Heaven." (Gen.1.8).This distinction is important. We shall come to it at the end.

"And a river went out of Eden to water the garden." This was planted by God and it is set on the east of Eden. So the river run east-west axis and we have also how the coming of the Son of man shall be."For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be."(Mt.24.27) God shows man his handywork and it is in the firmament. It explain why the river from the garden separates into four river heads. The angels representing the Word (he was with God)gives the other side of the gospel as of judgment. The 'great' river Euphrates is set on the south."And the fourth river is Euphrates."(2.8). The same river figures in the book of the Revelation. "and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar which is before God,/Saying to the sixth angel which had the trumpet, Loose the four angels which are bound in the great river Euphrates./And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men. "(Rev.9.13-15) They were beforehand prepared to reveal the wrath of God, and it is from heaven which is a sign for Jesus Christ. The heavens,- the trinitarian aspect of God declares the glory of God as stated in the Psalm quote. The river is set in the north-south or Up and Down axis. Why? "For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son."(Jn.5.22)

    Gen.1.8 "Heaven"

"The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork." We shall focus on the role of the firmament. It reveals the work of his hands. Thus the waters above the firmament has a body, and it is his holiness. All blessings pour from the greater to the lesser so He sends rain to the just as well as the unjust. Holiness of God is revealed in his love so the body is a sign, "That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven" It is also mercy, and it is spiritually understood, and it is new every day. Without it there is no new birth or new earth. Because God loved the world He sent his only begotten Son.(Mt.5.44-45. Lam.3.22-23). In his Son our volume is assured. This mercy denotes waters above and waters below denote grace which came by Jesus Christ. Between the Father and Son the firmament is a sign for us. It serves as a looking glass. Our heart a spiritual place, an alter is a glass. The glory is impressed within. "For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ."(2 Cor.4.6). The firmament shows as a glass and spiritually the soul says Amen to "But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

Heaven and earth are set about two axes: the world made to appear what is unseen helps us understand, "My Father worketh hitherto , and I work." It is Across. The other axis works Up and Down. Advent of the Son and hs direction works about this axis. Both are reconciled in the firmament so it is named Heaven. This serves same as the Word was with God so Jesus Christ as the lord from heaven; similarly he is the firstborn from the dead.(Col.1.18; Rev.1.5)

The Mid-air 'firmament' is a sign for Jesus Christ. "For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell."

Exod. 23.20-22 "My name is in him"

"Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name is in him."

From the passage it clear that the angel of the Lord is intended. The Bible gives as several instances of the angel interacting with man and the sign 'the Word was with God' is part of the blessing conferred on man who enters into the fellowship of God with Man. Faith is the key. Volume of man in his workaday world is spiritually understood. 'The Rock was Christ' at Kadesh, "and speak ye unto the rock before their eyes; and it shall give forth his water, and thou shalt bring forth to them water out of the rock: so thou shalt give the congregation and their beasts drink./And Moses took the rod from before the Lord, as he commanded him."(Num.20.8-9). Man as a steward proves a blessing for himself and his beasts. God sent his word, and healed them and delivered from their destructions . (Ps.107.20) In the case of Gideon he had to offer sacrifice where the angel specified and fire from the midst of the rock was a proof that 'my name is in him.' The volume of man who allied with God by a covenant is same as the Word was with God. "Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice."(Ps.50.5)

The angel in the vision of St John lets him measure,"And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein." The angel is a fellow-servant and he is as a double so they make one measurement. In Christ there is only single unit of 144 which is word based. The entire volume of the holy city is so many multiples of this base unit which in Christ is perfect fit. My name is in him makes both heaven (angel) and earth one fit and it is the new heaven and new earth. It finally rests in mid-air signifying the role of the firmament as a sign. "And God called the firmament Heaven."(Gen.1.8)

    Jn.1.1-2 "The Sign"

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God./The same was in the beginning with God." Here we have three entities: God as voice of the Lord. It is a sound. It was in the beginning and it was also a sign which is indicated by the term The Word was with God' and Jesus Christ as the name. Holy is his name applies to the Son since the Word was God specified through his prophets, his name."and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us."(Mt.1.23) Here it is interesting to note that The Word was with God in heaven is given a name to indicate God with us, Emmanuel. It is thus Fellowship of God with Man is a stone dropped into the world and the everwidening ripple makes believers also included into it. John is referring Jesus Christ in vv.2-3 'The same' to the Man component to the Trinity.

Thus in the everlasting Covenant it is Adam and who was created 'after our image' and after our likeness he is set forth as the double for Jesus Christ. After his fall Jesus Christ is designated as the last Adam.

Thus we need make a distinction between Jesus Christ as a sign (Emmanuel) and also Jesus of Nazareth the man. The latter and John his cousin were men subjected to the sovereign authority of the Word. This explains why Jesus insisted on baptism by water. For this reason we have symbols of greater light and lesser light. "And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night."(Gen.1.16) They are to rule the children of light which is the word of God while lesser light is a sign for the soul of man who shall give accounts for the works of darkness. The same motif we find in the four living creatures, wheel in the middle of a wheel. It is not the symbol of Mazda but ' for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels."(Ezek.1.16-20). The soul of man is a sign for Emmanuel. Either you are for Christ or enemy to Christ. Whole or nothing.

    Hello Jesse,

    Enjoying your posts on James.

In this post concerning this text about boasting about ones plans for tomorrow or the future I understand it this way.

Jesus did say that when one goes to build a house, they are to count the cost. So, planning is not the problem, but the attitude of being master of one's time, activities, and future is prideful which leads to boasting about ones plans. None of us are our own masters, in reality. God is the master. So we can make plans for tomorrow or the future and not sin.

I have a doctor appt. tomorrow. These need to be scheduled in advance. It is not sinful to do so. But I know that there may be something that comes in the way of me being able to get there. So, I must be conscious that we can make plans, but God in His sovereignty as the master of our lives has the absolute right to change what we think we will do.

We are to remain flexible in our planning and thinking, being in tune with the Holy Spirit and His lead just as Paul was when he had plans to go one place, but was prevented by the Holy Spirit from going there. Paul did not try to get around the "stop" that the Holy Spirit placed in his way.

I remember planning for retirement along with my husband. It was something we were looking forward to as most people do need to retire from their life's work at some point. We were thankful that everything worked out for us to retire when we thought we would. God had His hand in this as He does in all things. We are glad He is the one who ordains all things according to His perfect will, wise counsel, and good pleasure. If we keep in step with Him in faith we will be in agreement with what comes our way as being what God has foreordained and we can trust that He will be with us through the circumstances whether they are pleasing and helpful to us or if they are trying, painful and testing of our faith and patience pressing against the threshold of what we can bear up under, knowing that God is able to supply all.

    Yes, Richard,

    God is faithful.

He hears our prayers and is more than willing to bring an answer.

We thank Him for bringing everyone home safe and sound.

Little Rosie was delighted to see us after a 22 hour plane ride.

They have been sleeping since we arrived home at 2:00 p.m. because of the 10 hour difference in time between Kenya and U.S.

In Kenya it would be nighttime during our day so they have to sleep and re-adjust to our time here once again.

How was your visit with your dad the other day? i do keep you and him in my prayers. I know that this situation is hard on you and you are wise to seek guidance and help with dealing rightly with your dad's affairs.

    Ecclesiastes 6

Verse 12 says For who knoweth what is good for man in this life, all the days of his vain life which he spendeth as a shadow? for who can tell a man what shall be after him under the sun?

The rest of the chapter gets into the same themes of someone who works in a vain life is worse off than someone dying before born and other repeated thoughts. The end verse summarizes that without the Lord man basically is no better off no matter what he does in this life. We of course can die to ourselves and have the Spirit indwelling giving us a taste of things to come and hope for tomorrow.

    Ecclesiastes 7

Verse 2 It is better to go to the house of mourning, than to go to the house of feasting: for that is the end of all men; and the living will lay it to his heart.

This shows how the folly of laughter among the wicked has no lasting value. We also see the value of true wisdom in verse 4:

4 The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning; but the heart of fools is in the house of mirth.

5 It is better to hear the rebuke of the wise, than for a man to hear the song of fools. This perhaps ties in with the concept seen in 2 Timothy 3:16 and the like admonitions in Proverbs 27 amongst other places in scripture.

Moving on to verse 10 Say not thou, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not enquire wisely concerning this.

This shows that we shouldn't look to how things were better as individuals earlier in our lives when we had better health; etc.

It also shows that we should look to serving the Lord for such a time as this ( Esther 4:14) rather than seeing an easier path.

Verse 20 states For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not. This verse comes after admonishing not to be overly wicked OR overly righteous (loosely translated) in verses 16 and 17. To be overly righteous no doubt is man's efforts to fulfill the law which inevitably fail and where pride often takes hold of men.

    (James Part 19):

James 5:4 - Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.

Behold, the hire of the labourers (that's their paycheck), who have reaped, or mowed down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, cries out:

Each one of these words are very pointed. The laborers have already reaped down according to the text, past tense, it is Aorist Tense. They have reaped or cut down your fields. And by the use of this word for "keeping back by fraud," with the APO in front of it, designates that it was deliberate.

It was done by fraud. He knew what he was doing. He hired these people to come out and to harvest his field so he could take the harvest and get some money for it. But he planned the whole time not to pay them. He said the hire of the laborers cries, and the cries of them which have reaped, notice Past Tense, are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.

Sabaoth is a transliteration of the Hebrew word that means armies, or hosts. Hosts would be legions of angels, where armies would be the fighting angels. So, the ears of the Lord who's in charge, He's commander in chief of the armies in heaven, their cries have entered into His ears. And God's forces are going to come against you.

    (James Part 18):

James 5:1 - Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.

"Go to now," is the same expression we see in James 4:13. It means pay attention. Pay attention, you rich men, weep and howl, and the Greek text literally says weep while howling, over your miseries that are coming upon you.

How many times have you seen a rich person say, "I am so rich, if I start giving my money away, I still wouldn't run out of money?" Or a millionaire on television, and instead of having his TV program, he decides to weep and howl because of the miseries that are about to come upon him?

Rich people don't do that. But that's what James is calling rich people to do because of the realization of those miseries that are coming upon them. The word for miseries is the same word used by Paul in Romans 7:24 when he said O wretched man that I am!

When Paul says O wretched man that I am, he says O man that I am that's in adverse circumstances. A wretched man is a man that's in adversity all the time. Paul presented himself as one of those people. There is a wretchedness, a misery that is coming upon the rich because they have trusted in their wealth.

He says you favor the rich over the poor, but don't you know that God has appointed the poor to be rich in faith? And now he's directing it at the rich people. In Chapter 2, he says the rich people have all this money, and they oppress you and take you to court. And they use the Lord's name in vain. And you're showing favor towards them just because of their money.

Instead, whoever is leading the synagogue service should say "You rich people, weep, howling over your miseries which are coming upon you. The last line in Verse 1 is a Present Participle, the miseries that are coming upon you are coming upon you right now, and they're going to keep coming until the end, and your end will be to stand before God and answer to Him.

    (James Part 17):

James 4:14 - Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.

Whereas you know not what shall be on the morrow, showing how foolish it is. You don't know! For what is your life? It is even a vapour. ATMIS is the Greek word, and it is the word for steam. Do you see the steam coming out of the kettle on the stove? That's your life!

What is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away, literally in the Greek, that appears and then disappears. That's all it says. That's not very encouraging to hear, but it puts things in perspective!

James 4:16 - But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.

But now you rejoice, and that's literally the word boast. You boast in your boastings:

We read about the pride of life in 1 John 2:15, and it means to use the necessities for prideful purposes? That's the word for boastings in this text. The word rejoice is the word boasting. But now you boast in your prideful necessities. And you know what they're boasting about? "Well, we're going to go into such and such a city, and we're going to make a killing. We're going to make lots of money!"

All such boasting is evil. And the word evil is PONAYROS, which is the word for Satan. He is the evil one. Not just bad, but evil.

    (James Part 16):

James 4:13 - Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:

Go to now, ye that say, and there are five things:

To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:

That's presumption! There are five things. Number 1, concerning the date. To day or to morrow. Secondly the place. We will go into such a city. The Greek text denotes that there's a specific city as if they're looking at a map and they've got their finger on it. It's not just any old city. They've already got their city targeted.

Thirdly concerning time. We will continue there for a year. Fourthly the activity. We will buy and sell. Buy and sell is one Greek word (EMPOREUSOMETHA) and it's where we get our word emporium from. And fifthly the goal. And get gain, meaning make money.

That is the confession of presumption. It just means that the person believes that he is in control of his own life. I can pick what day I'm going to go, where I'm going to go, how long I'm going to spend there, what activity I'm going to do, and what my goal is when I go. That is presumption. It's presuming that's the way things are going to be.

In Proverbs 27:1, it says boast not thyself of tomorrow, for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth. We have no idea what God's will is. Even if we think we know, we have no idea what God's will is for today or even tomorrow.

But who knows what going to happen? Who knows if I'm going to reach my goal or do the things I think I need to do? It's very presumptuous to think that a person's going to control their own life, and this is the way it's going to go. Does it sound familiar? That's what we do. We plan our day!

    "Fulfill all righteousness"

"Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him."(Mt.3.15)

Ministry of John as the voice in the wilderness was a much valid as of the Son of men from the Word which was God. The Law of God is the Law of the Spirit. It is also called the unity of the Spirit. The Word as the voice has also an analogous function so in the world of the Spirit we have the natural features of a physical world behave in a manner that God wills it. Thus in the book of Ezekiel, "Thus saith the Lord God to the mountains, and to the hills, to the rivers, and to the valleys, to the desolate wastes, and to the cities..."(Ezek.36.4) Man is called to righteousness that comes from God. In blessing man in his Son he has to be created after our image and after our likeness.' Man's volume does not come by itself but from the volume, the measure of His Will created new in his Son. Thus Word became flesh. After flesh means he is a man subject to hunger thirst and every circumstance that a man may face in his earthly existence. Jesus knew no sin and did no sin. Yet he had to satisfy the requirements of the Law or the Word. As the voice from heaven testified "And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."(Mt.3.17). John who baptized Jesus understood what he was in relation to Jesus. He was a friend of the groom. The Word had hold on their antecedents and also in their roles in life. Jesus walked among social outcasts in order to call them to repentance. John turned to an austere lifestyle. Only when he judged Jesus from his mode of life we realise that John judged him than let the Word take him to task,'And said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another?" Where the word's hold ceases and mammon takes over is so deceptive that demands of righteousnes is this: whole or nothing. Look at imposter churches how far have they fallen from the earth church?

    Bemtivi,

I suppose your comment is addressed to me. Let me tell you firstly 'my teaching' is not mine. By the grace given to me I found the word of God my chiefest joy and for 15 years I maintained a blog and my word ministry simply means God adds more grace to those who hunger after his righteousness. Past few years daily the Spirit took over my ministry to give light on passages I tried to come to grips with. So feel free to use but always read it in the light of the word. My Bible-study posts are not on public domain but in God's domain. May God bless you and enrich your spirittual life for His glory.

I began my love for the word by noting down the sermons as you are doing and and learned to sift the chaff from truth,- that is God's work. More you have the more will be added to you. So trust God who loves you, Yours in Him who separated us for virtue and for His glory,

Continuation.... So I have just given him information that he has never heard and he can't handle it. He knows if this is true and he talks about it his fellow preachers will turn on him, the reason he knows it is that's what he would do. He has been brain washed that God will bless those who bless the jews and curse those who curse the jews! They are NOT bible jews!!!! In WW2 England was losing the war and the Rothschild (ashkanazi jews) offered to help them if they gave them Israel in exchange it's called the Balford agreement. I wish I had time to tell you how evil these ashkenazi jews are it would make you nauseous look up the SS Liberty where they attacked and tried to sink one of our ships for almost an hour or the promise software injected in our government computers. If that isn't enough go look up their Torah you can't read 2 pages without gagging or the Satanic Kobalah and last this war with the Paestinians was planned and started by these monsters. Israel has the most secure border in the world. They have a monitoring system that is maned by all women for almost a year these women were warning something was going on as patterns were changing and they were coming closer to the fences. Israel withdrew their military 7 hrs before the attack without warning these young women or the people who lived along the border. They wanted the women captured and silenced! There ARE real jews and strangely enough they are against these ashkenazis. The ashkenazis hate true jews BUT AS THE BIBLE SAYS WE MUST TO THE BEST OF OUR ABILITIES HELP REAL JEWS!!!!!!...

God bless for your sharpness - that's exactly what your writings have conveyed to me!

I've been studying your teachings by writing them down on paper and also noting my own insights in my Bible as I read. That's why I wanted to ask: would it be alright if I "keep" your texts for my personal study? They've been truly valuable to me.

I was actually in Judges 14, reflecting on Samson's seven-day wedding feast, and your words made so much sense. As you said, "for this purpose, the Word or the Law establishes seven days" - from Genesis 1:3 to Genesis 2:1-3.

    Gen.2.3-4 "Perfect will

"And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made./These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the Lord God made the earth and the heavens."

Holiness of God when expressed sets both Wisdom and Power to work where Wisdom is of God and the Word is clear. Jesus Christ ' who of God is made unto us wisdom'. (1 Cor.1.30) Glory of God is always expressed in terms of the Being. It can never run out of fuel or tempo since the word of God says, " For I am the Lord, I change not."(Mal.3.6). Thus the Will of God bears the glory of the Father in its fullest extent which the Son as the visible image of the invisible God bears. This Glory is as of the Word (Word was with God) that is the Law of the Spirit. When the Word became flesh this glory never was mislaid. God decreed the Day for the Son signalling that the Will is complete and perfect. It is bookmarked as it were by the Law of the Spirit that the fulfillment of it was set on a creatioon mode. The world that was unseen by faith shall be made to appear.(Heb.11.3)

What set the creation kickstart? the Word of God, naturally.

"All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made."(Jn1.3). Jesus refers to his work and on behalf of his Father thus: " My Father worketh hitherto, and I work."(Jn.5.17).It is to this Gen.2.4) The generations of the heavens and of the earth were first conceived in the will of the Father. These were made to appear by the Son and Jesus affirms that he must work, " I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work." His work shall be completed only when there shall be no more night. God entered into his Rest and the day decreed for the Son is the Sabbath to which we have been called and our rest begins when we abide in Christ by faith and produce fruits for His glory

Ecclesiastes 4 starts discussing oppression in the first 3 verses and the concept of it being better not to be born than in that state.

Verses 4 to 6 discuss someone working with their hands; again repeated as a theme and the neighbor folding his hands in envy.

(see Proverbs 24:33). This was most likely written by Solomon (some sections were said to be anonomous).

Verses 7 through 8 discuss someone toiling who is all alone; and then in verses 9-11 we see the advantage of a cord of 3 not easily broken. Verse 12 concludes the chapter:

12 Though one may be overpowered,

    two can defend themselves.

A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.

I am guessing the 3 fold cord could be the Lord incorporated into the mix; as we might expect in a Godly marriage in particular.

    Ecclesiastes 5

This chapter starts discussing not making a foolish vow. The focus of the first 6 verses seems to be on the Temple sacrifice and vows foolishly made which could be of money or food offerings beyond someone's means to offer at the time. God takes all vows seriously and we incur His just correction if we don't keep it; hence Jesus said let your "yea" be "yea" and "nay" be "nay" ( Matthew 5:37; also James 5:12 has the same theme).

Moving on to verse 15 it reads

Everyone comes naked from their mother's womb,

and as everyone comes, so they depart.

They take nothing from their toil

that they can carry in their hands.

This summarizes all the vanity of earlier verses which are summarized from verse 12 in regard to rich people awake worried about their possessions and the laborer resting.

    The chapter concludes:

Moreover, when God gives someone wealth and possessions, and the ability to enjoy them, to accept their lot and be happy in their toil-this is a gift of God. 20 They seldom reflect on the days of their life, because God keeps them occupied with gladness of heart.

This verse has the great insight that only God can give contentment in possessions ( 1 Tim. 6:6).

    Ecclesiastes 3:13-14

12 I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life.

13 And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God.

This theme is repeated later at the end of this chapter as well as other places.

    Verses 14-17

14 I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that people will fear him.

15 Whatever is has already been,

    and what will be has been before;

and God will call the past to account.[b]

16 And I saw something else under the sun:

In the place of judgment-wickedness was there,

in the place of justice-wickedness was there.

    17 I said to myself,

    "God will bring into judgment

both the righteous and the wicked,

for there will be a time for every activity,

a time to judge every deed."

These passages show temporary perversion of justice (verse 16) but the eternal aspects of God setting things right and bringing a proper fear of God (Verse 14).

The rest of the chapter reads as follows:

I also said to myself, "As for humans, God tests them so that they may see that they are like the animals. 19 Surely the fate of human beings is like that of the animals; the same fate awaits them both: As one dies, so dies the other. All have the same breath[c]; humans have no advantage over animals. Everything is meaningless. 20 All go to the same place; all come from dust, and to dust all return. 21 Who knows if the human spirit rises upward and if the spirit of the animal goes down into the earth?"

Verse 18 describing humans like animals reminds us of Psalm 73:22 So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee

That Psalm was written by Asaph. The going back to the dust as seen in Genesis is a fate for men and animals; although we have this isolated reference in verse 21 of the human spirit ascending to heaven and the animal going down into the earth.

    Hello Sandra,

It is truly a blessing to come to the assurance of God's great love for us and the many ways He blesses us, HIs children. We do not deserve anything good from God, but in His mercy and grace, He brings us to Him and renews us to new life from our dead in sin position. Our worth is this, that God loved us and gave Himself for us. It is a kindness that He did so. It is a gift that He calls us to Himself through the gospel.

I know at times when I feel rejected, misunderstood or mistreated by others, I take comfort in remembering that I belong to Jesus, the King over all! Even as this position in Christ as a son or daughter of the Father is so precious, I try to remember that it is Jesus who's worth is far beyond any other. He is worthy of all the glory, honor, and praise we choose to give Him and so much more. His value is not something we can acquire or ourselves or truly know because of His abounding excellency.

I love what Hebrews says about keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus. That is a way to live each day that will bring us much joy and gratitude towards God.

Thanks for bringing this topic up today as it caused me to align my worth with the good pleasure and grace of God in Christ Jesus.

    (James Part 15):

James 4:10 - Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.

The word humble is a command, but it's in the Passive Voice. It is literally be humbled in the sight of the Lord. Every time there is a command for to be humbled in the scriptures, it's always in the Passive Voice which means submit to God's humbling process. He humbles us.

You see, if I humble myself and bring myself before God, that's pride. "Here I am Lord, your humble servant. I have come humbly before you!" and the Lord is probably going "Let's try that again because I can't accept that." So, when God brings us low, we are supposed to submit to it. And then the promise, and he shall lift you up.

Just as a sidenote about this section, Verses 7 through 10 give the commands for the problem. Remember that these are Jewish believers who are in difficult and hard situations. They are afflicted. They are mourning. They are weeping. And they are attempting to change their circumstances into laughter and joy in order to encourage themselves.

The command is let yourself be afflicted, let yourself mourn, let yourself weep, let your joy turn into heaviness, and your laughter into mourning. In other words, take the low road. We all want to feel good. We all want to feel encouraged. We all want to think positive. But James is saying take the low road.

If you're in affliction, and choose affliction and mourning, weeping and heaviness, and mourning so that you can experience the grace of God rather than attempting to in your own human resources make yourself a happier person and make yourself feel better about yourself, that's the road to be on.

He's not saying that you should not feel good about yourself. He's just saying choose the difficult road. Don't keep trying to get out of it. God is humbling you for a reason. He's bringing you low so that you come to Him.
