We are here to bring praise to his name, for his goodwill and pleasure. God is Sovereign, we need him, not the other way around. I tell you my friend read his word, pray the answer will always come just as he sees fit.

Below are some verses that cover this topic

Philippines 2:13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure

Ephesians 1:5-6 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved

Ephesians 1:9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:

2 Thessalonians 1:10-12 When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day. Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power: That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Paul is saying we no longer live under the law of "sin and death" Paul is not saying we don't live under God's law. Context is everything. When we fall short, we have grace, but as Paul and yeshua has said, not till heaven and earth pass will the law of God pass. If we no longer live according to the law of God, and if it is truly not applicable to new testament Christians, why then when yeshua returns to rule on earth does he practice the law? He will practice the law untill all things written by the prophets is fulfilled, then heaven and earth will pass away with the law of God, we won't need it after that because there will be no more urge. To sin.

We don't follow God's law to save us, we practice GODS law because we are saved, see the difference?

Your faith in the word (yeshua is the word in the flesh) is what justifies you.

Dear Dana, what is your question?
  • Dana on Matthew 27:54 - 5 years ago
We are a Christian family. Having raised our children in an Independent Fundamental Baptist Church. My grown daughter, who no longer lives at home, had a question that I could not give or think of a satisfactory answer. My Pastor's wife could neither think of an answer that was adequate in explanation. The most I could come up with was that we are here, so God has friends.......aka to fellowship with Him. That is not going to be satisfactory for her. Does anyone have a better explanation? Thank you for your help.

There were Christian believers from times past that left this confession of faith in 1632.

"We also believe and confess that before His ascension, He instituted His New Testament, and, since it was to be and remain an eternal Testament, that, He confirmed and sealed the same with His precious blood, and gave and left it to His disciples, yea, charged them so highly with it, that neither angel nor man may alter it, nor add to it, nor take away from it; and that He has caused the same, as containing the whole counsel and will of His heavenly Father, as necessary for salvation, to be proclaimed in His name by His beloved apostles, messengers, and ministers- whom He called, chose, and sent into all the world for that purpose- among all peoples, nations, and tongues, and repentance and remission of sins to be preached and testified of; and that he accordingly has therein declared all men without distinction, who through faith, as obedient children, heed, follow, and practice what the same contains, to be His children, and lawful heirs; this excluding no one from the precious inheritance of eternal salvation, except for the un-believing, and disobedient, the stiff-necked and obdurate, who despise it, and incur this through their own sins, thus making themselves unworthy of eternal life." Jeremiah 31:31 Hebrews 9:15-17 Matthew 26:28 Galatians 1:8 1 Timothy 6:3

Yes Jesus inherited from the father as an obedient first son .

Not only was Jesus born of the father , but he earned the position by his completing the work The father sent him to do !

Jesus is so worthy of his highest position as Lord of lords and king of kings ! Awesome !! And only he could have done it , all the glory to God whom made it possible. We can only scratch the surface of this immeasurable work of salvation that was Gods plan and Jesus wonderful accomplishment. Thanks for the thoughts on this worthy subject , PTL ! When we can comprehend some of this it should cause us to worship , and never stop , so worth pondering dear reader .

If He did how and why?

Rev robert, may the Spirit grace you with HIS wisdom and HIS understanding.

    Revelation 14

    Revelation 15

    Revelation 16

This is the work of CHRIST DEATH on the cross and the work of HIS RESURRECTION and the battle ( Revelation 16:14) we are caused to fight to come to this TRUTH IN CHRIST. Being fulfilled for the last 2000 years as the Fathers draws us to CHRIST and CHRIST gives us HIS UNDERSTANDING to overcome. ASK HIM he will cause you to understand; but it HIS time frame. We have been in the day of the Lord now for 2000 years. He is harvesting HIS FRUITS as they become first ripe (firstfruits) ( Revelation 14:14-20) ( Matthew 20:1-16)

When the sixth seal was opened ( Revelation 6:12) Christ was crucified; prophecy of ( Joel 2:31). The old testament saints and the children of the resurrection were raised with him ( Isaiah 26:19),( Revelation 20:5-6) and ( Matthew 27:52-53). The old testament saints were sealed with the Holy Spirit and the body of Christ ( 1 Timothy 6:16)( Revelation 7:3-8). There was silence in heaven for one half hour ( Revelation 8:1) between the sixth and seventh seal. This is the 45 days between Christ resurrection and pentecost ( Daniel 12:11-12) 1335 days minus 1290 days. No one could enter into the temple (into Christ) until the seven plagues were pour out on Christ (he took God's wrath for us). now we can be ONE IN CHRIST ( Revelation 15:6-8). The four living creatures before the throne ( Revelation 4:6-8) is all creation. God made a covenant with Noah that they would never be destroyed again ( Genesis 9:9-12) man, cattle, beast and fowl. ( Ezekiel 1:10) ( Revelation 4:7). ALL CREATION will worship God. The lake of fire is how Christ cleanses and purifies us.

    Hebrews 12:29

    Luke 12:49-50

    Matthew 3:11-12

    Isaiah 9:5

    Isaiah 4:3-4

    Malachai 3:2-3

    Bro Barney,

If I may add a little more to the truth you have shared, I believe there are only two types of people in this world, saved and unsaved. A person is either a slave to Jesus Christ or a slave to sin, no in-between. I believe that salvation is a present-tense condition of everyone who has been born of God's Spirit. A true believer who is being led by God's Spirit would never think it is okay to commit sin or to live a sinful lifestyle.

There are many who claim to be Christians but have never been born of the Spirit of Christ. They may go to church religiously and participate with the believers and give the appearance of being a believer, but still be void of God's Spirit dwelling within. Those are the ones who eventually walk away. To the others in the church who assumed that person was saved, they will say "See, he walked away and denounced the whole thing, so he lost his salvation.

This was the same with Judas Iscariot. He was part of the twelve but he was evil from the start. Judas was never saved and then lost his salvation. Jesus chose an evil man to fulfil the scripture saying that He would be betrayed. When Jesus said have not I chosen you all, and one of you is a devil, none of the other 11 knew that it was Judas. But Jesus knew, and that is why He chose Judas.

I shared earlier about the people in the book of Hebrews who were being "enlighted" to the truth, but later on turned and walked away. Those were Hebrew/Jewish people. They were never saved, but people want to use verses in Hebrews to show that salvation can be lost. I know of a couple of verses in Hebrews that are being used to show that salvation can be lost, Hebrews 6:4 and Hebrews 10:26, and also one in Peter's writings, but none of them is talking about saved people losing their salvation.

The bible speaks about those who profess to be Christian and later on walk away from it all. That's given to us in ( 1 John 2:19). They walk away because they were never saved to begin with!

Hello Tom, So true there are very many Scriptures where God communicates with His people His will and he refers to Himself as the Lord and God singularly to them and stands before their enemies and says the same. God here reveals two truths He loves His people in the flesh and He is Holy and not approachable by man in the flesh. Yet He wants to lead them by the law to repentance in His Son revealed by the prophets, later as a babe, then as His beloved Son, and finally as a crucified Savior. This aspect of God is his Mercy which is Jesus Christ. This part of God covered the law where God could approach man in the flesh and even after Calvary dwell in His people in the flesh as the Holy Ghost, another aspect of God. Three parts of God and three stages of salvation which is life everlasting.

I just wanted to say Amen to everything you just said here. Very well said!!!
  • Jesse - In Reply on Colossians 1:15 - 5 years ago
    Tom,

Yes, there is one God, I agree. And He is unchanging, I agree. I also know that Jesus Christ is the HUIOS, the inheritor of all things from the Father, and Jesus is the head over all things to the church as given to us in Ephesians 1:22. Once Christ ascended up into His position, all things are now put under the feet of Christ, and all must answer to Christ. Now concerning His headship, it says "And gave Him to be the head over all things with respect to the church."

So it is right to say that God is head over all, and that Jesus Christ is head over all because Jesus Christ is the Huios of God, the one who was in position to inherit all things from the Father. And Jesus is now the head over all things because He is God the Son, and the Son has inherited all things from the Father!

    Hello Bro Barney,

Naturally, I disagree with your interpretation of the scripture and the assumptions made.

I believe the argument of once saved always saved contradicts itself. Here's how:

    1. Someone believes God gave them freewill.

    2. Someone believes all Christians are already 'saved' and that status never changes.

    3. Then they are asked about Luke 12:10 blasphemy of the holy ghost.

    4. They then claim it doesn't apply to Christians, that Christians can't, that they don't even have the freewill to sin, despite many documented cases of Christians doing exactly that both in the Bible and in the world today. Isaiah 14:12-14 shows that even angels in heaven have freewill to sin and blaspheme.

Christians still need to face judgment day like everyone else. Only after can someone be actually saved. If we genuinely follow Christ we can be assured of salvation, but the Bible warns us plenty of times to obey, to run the race, to persevere, to abide in the doctrine of Christ 2 John 1:8-9, it paints a much different picture than that I get from others who claim its ok to sin, that you can't sin, that you can be in the world and do whatever you want with zero penalty, and don't even have to worry about turning your back on Christ or blaspheming, because you can't do that. That's the opposite message of what Jesus said. Hebrews 6:4, John 14:15, Matthew 5:13, MATTHEW 7:23.

If once saved always saved is true, does that mean Christians can commit mass murder and still go to heaven? violence? rape? blasphemy? Or that their freewill is restricted so it's impossible for that to happen? Judas betrayed Jesus, and many Christians leave the faith and reject Jesus, unfortunately. There's a forum on Reddit called ex-Christian if you don't believe it. So, are all ex-Christians who reject Jesus still saved then?

Which is more likely: that satan, the father of lies is deceiving Christians into obeying God more than necessary, or that committing unlimited sin is ok?
  • Tom - In Reply on Colossians 1:15 - 5 years ago
Adam read the Old Testament when God the I am that I spoke often about how He is God alone . Many times throughout . You must keep that in context when reading the New Testament or you will be confused , it seems to contradict in the new , but God never changes . That we know for certain .

When i was a child in school we had some basic Bible stories and we did some Bible plays ,i know that that sort of thing hasnt happened in the u.k. for a very long time now ,unless you go to a catholic school in u.k. theres no such thing as Christian teachings ,its very sad ,stay strong Eric ,God wants you with Him .

    Adam,

Please do not take offense to my reply, I only want to clarify my answers for others. I have heard arguments such as yours many times. However, they fail to stand when all scripture is considered.

You are correct stating "genuine Christian" "trying to avoid sin" and a person is "claiming they're saved and can do whatever they want."

You have just described two different persons you will find in Christianity. One has repented, ask for forgiveness, and put their faith and trust in Jesus Christ to save them. The other only claims to have done this. One has been saved by the work of Christ and is given eternal life, the other has not.

As for judgments after death, the unbeliever is already judged and condemned, Joh 3:18. The judgments after death are the Judgement Seat of Christ to judge the believers service with lose of rewards not salvation, Rom 14:10, 2Co 5:10, 1Cor 3:12-15. The second is the Great White Throne Judgment for those that rejected God's truth with punishment in the lake of fire, Rev 20:11-15.

Do not misunderstand me, there are consequences to sin, even for the saved. Rev. 3:19

However, chastening is not the loss of salvation.

Where I see an error is in your misunderstanding of Luke 12:10. To blaspheme against the Holy Ghost is to reject His ministry. What is His ministry?

Joh 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, he shall testify of me:

Joh 16:8 And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

If an unsaved person continually rejects the Holy Spirits efforts to convince them of their sins and need of salvation through Jesus Christ, then they will not be forgiven. A person that is "truly" saved cannot blaspheme the Holy Spirit as they have accepted His witness and is then indwelled by Him. Rom. 8:9, 14, 1Cor. 6:11, 2Cor. 1:22, Eph. 4:30

As for obedience (works) see the following: Eph. 2:9, Mat. 11:30, Joh. 8:36.

We obey Jesus out of love not to be co-redeemers.

    Thank you and God bless

    Continuation,

We must stay humble before the Lord. Give our lives to Him and follow Jesus Christ as He is the only way to our Father.

I guess to end this post will be to "lukewarm" Christians. We are warned there is no middle road. It is one way or the other. Wide is the gate that leads to destruction and many go that way. Straight and narrow is the way to life and few that find it. You cannot serve two masters. You cannot drink of the cup of the Lord and the cup of devils. 1 Corinthians 10:21, Matthew 6:24. As this comes to Revelation 3:15-16. People who are walking the line are going to have to make a choice. I pray they make that choice today as no one knows when the Lord shall require our life. Or when our last day shall be.

Another question I would feel to ask a believer is "are you ready"? Do you love the Lord enough to give your life for Him? As in John 15:13-14, Jesus states there is no greater love than to lay down his life for His friend. Matthew 16:24-25. Love is not perfected yet if you are still afraid as in 1 John 4:18.

I will just leave some Scriptures for others. How we should focus on things above and not of this world. Live our life for the Lord to do the Will of our Father in Heaven. As all is conditional in that the closer you draw to Him the closer He will draw to you. God Bless you my brothers and sisters in the Lord.

    Colossians 3:1-6, Colossians 3:13-17,

    Matthew 16:27, 1 Peter 1:17,

    Malachi 3:7, James 4:6-8,
