According to Gods word we are to seek him and only him with all our hearts. We were created to Love and Worship GOD only, not ourselves! Todays churches teach the Joel Osteen way of love yourself, accept yourself, be yourself etc.this is of satan and why our nation is a huge mess right now because of all the self love and the nurturing of this self love. Self love points to us and not GOD! Satan loved the beauty of who he was and pride entered his heart and he challenged his own creator, sounds familiar doesn't it, it is exactly what man kind has done throughout history and even more so today. There is nothing I love about myself and my sin nature that separated me from GOD. Then GOD showed me his only begotten Son Jesus the Christ and made a way for me to be born again and made new in Jesus Christ. So now I know I am different and do not belong in this current world and I do my best (though I mess up often)to Worship and spend alone time with my GOD. So my testimony is thisI was an adulterous, murdering(abortion), lying, thieving jezebel that desperately needed a Savior and Jesus is my Savior. So as Jeremiah says "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end." Jesus is my expected end and everyday I work out my own Salvation with fear and trembling...

This sounds like our entire world today...constantly craving and consuming the "news" with no discernment. Making idols out of the social media influencers and trend setters who also become yesterdays news in an instant. All the while rejecting and mocking the timeless truths of the Good News....let us be as the Bereans!!!

I have come to realize that "using the phrase whom Jesus loved" was indicating to us that John being the youngest, Jesus knew John's heart; knowing that He could rely on John to take care of His mother after His crucifixion's.

I asked my friend with my Capitalistic mind if maybe the internet could be used make money. He reproved me and said that is not what it is for, it is for good. Hi Howard. I believe that the other disciple was John himself. We read in John 20:2 "Then she (Mary Magdalene) runneth, and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and saith unto them...".

John 13:23: "Now there was leaning on Jesus' bosom one of his disciples, whom Jesus loved."

John 21:20: "Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee?"

So you can see the common phrase in each of these verses: "whom Jesus loved". John often referred to himself as the disciple whom Jesus loved. Why he did this, I'm unsure. Though not wanting to give any focus or attention to himself, rather to the Lord & the other brethren, could be a valid reason.

"Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee." John 17:7.

As you have read, this Scripture portion is Christ's prayer to God His Father (often called Jesus' High Priestly Prayer). This prayer shows His Glory (vv 1-5), His love for His disciples (vv 6-19), & love for all who would belong to Him (vv 20-26).

So we see this Jesus, Who enjoyed the Glory of God even before creation, now declares to His Father that He has faithfully brought God's Truths of Himself & the Kingdom of Heaven to His disciples. These disciples have "kept Thy Word' & do understand that all that He has declared to them have come from God. Jesus only spoke the words to His disciples that were given to Him by God and they received them & know for sure that Jesus came out of God (out of God's Being or Essence) & believe that God had sent Him to them & the world (v 8).

Therefore, to answer your question: the Word of God (i.e. Divinely inspired messages), the Power of God (i.e. seen in Jesus' miracles, power over the devil, etc.), & the Wisdom of God (i.e. to know how to live that God-ordered, God-centred life which far surpassed the erroneous teaching of the Jewish religious leaders), would be what Jesus received of the Father to share with His disciples. And these disciples were then to take all that they learned from their Master, to the world (v 18-23).

Who or what is the Daughter of Jerusalem in Lamentations?

The Bible says that someone born again will not do that , they could stumble but not crucify Christ afresh by putting him to open shame .

My opinion is some people are seeking God but have a hard and bumpy path in and out of sin . But they are not born again either . But they should persist until they are , call upon the Lord for mercy til they get it . Then leave sin behind .

Just for a little reply to your question. The word LORD is the translation of the four Hebrew letters YHWH usually pronounced YaHWeH. In newer Hebrew JeHoVaH. The name of Almighty God translated to LORD over 6k times.

As even the Hebrews were really unsure of exactly how to pronounce it. Not wanting to say it wrong because of how pure He is they usually just say HaShem which means "the name".

The word God is the Hebrew word Elohiym which is a plural word used for diety or God. Translated over 2k times as God.

As He has many names those are just a few.

I hope that helps a little and if anything is off maybe someone else may chime in.

John 17.7

What did Jesus mean here ?

In Ps.100 v 3 we see LORD and God. LORD is in capital letters while God is written with a capital g only. Why?

Can I infer from Ps.100 v 3 that the word LORD has 'greater' meaning than the word God?

Revelation 6:1-2 begins the breaking of the seven seals. At the breaking of the first seal, the antichrist is introduced. He is the one sitting on a white horse who has a bow, and a crown that was given to him, and he goes forth to conquer. Even though this is a white horse, and some think that because it is a white horse that this is Christ, this is not Christ. This is the antichrist.

This is the breaking of the first seal. We know today that the antichrist has not yet been revealed. Even though it's possible that he may be alive and walking the earth right now, he has yet to be revealed. Once the first seal is broken, he will be revealed.

So I would say that none of the seals have been broken yet.

The only possible reference to Jesus having a beard would be found in Isaiah 50:6 which reads, I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting. This is from the King James Version.

Using some of my bible software, I did a side-by-side comparison of various English Bibles. The New King James Version, NIV, ESV, New Living Translation, Amplified Bible, Holman Christian Standard Bible, and a few other English translations use the word beard.

The New King James says, "I gave My back to those who struck Me, And My cheeks to those who plucked out the beard; I did not hide My face from shame and spitting."

In those days, Plucking off the hair on a man's face was a form of punishment that the Jews would use. That can be found in Nehemiah 13:25.

Dear wild bill, If you can walk away etc. as you say, then perhaps you are believing with your head and not your heart. God will never leave you nor forsake you. He called you and saved you by his works, not yours. There is only one thing you can give God. Your love.

Romans 6:1. Is continuing from ch 5 where Paul explains how the law slew us because we were Kinsman of Adam,

And those who "TRULY" accepted Christ has been baptized into Christ has been baptized into his death and given power over the "DOMINION" of sin.

Romans 6:1-2 (KJV) What shall we say then? Shall we "CONTINUE IN SIN", that grace may abound?

God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, "LIVE ANY LONGER THEREIN"?

Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

I've highlighted key phrases such as Dominion, Continue in sin, Live any longer therein. and other places you will words like "practice"

These words and phrases suggest a person born again want CONTINUE living in sin, but it doesn't say they will ever be able to live a sinless life.

Paul elaborates on this in Romans 7.

Here is the key to understanding Luke 12:10. It says, "For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more."

We have seen it so far with Jesus, and the city of Capernaum. He says woe to you Capernaum. And Capernaum was the city that Jesus lived in for three years in His ministry in the north in Galilee before He went to Jerusalem.

He says woe to you Capernaum, woe to you Bethsaida, the cities around the Sea of Galilee. It will be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah. It will be more tolerable than Tyre and Sidon than for you. We all know how corrupt and evil Sodom and Gomorrah were.

Jesus is saying that there is a degree of punishment and a degree of reward. There will be degrees of punishment in hell, and there will be degrees of rewards in heaven. What Jesus is saying here is that there will be punishment, beating with stripes for those who knew the Lord's will and didn't do it, and less stripes for those who knew it and did it.

But in our day, we are more blessed today than at any time in church history. We have got the whole Bible. We have got technology where we can study it, and broadcast it, and share it like no other time in history.

We have more responsibility given to us than any other Christians in church history. We've got it all and we don't have to do it by ourselves. God's Spirit is with us. He uses us. He is the one who ministers through us.

So it is not stress on us. We only have one thing to think about. Keep our face set toward Jerusalem. Keep our face set towards the mark of the prize of the high calling in Christ Jesus. Keep our minds and our heart set on the finish line.

That is all we have to do. And if something in the world reaches out to grab us, to distract us, and to pull us off the path, we are to let it go, just let it go. It isn't worth it!

Verse 8 says be sober, be vigilant. It means to be sober-minded. Vigilant means be on guard. It's the same thing Jesus said to the disciples in Matthew 26:41 when He said can't you wait and watch with me? They kept falling asleep. Be sober thinking, be alert, because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks around seeking whom he may devour:

That's to Christians. The Jews would know that the term lion represented the enemy. Seven times in the Psalms David used the word lion as an example of his enemies. In Ezekiel 22:25, Ezekiel used the lion to describe the false prophets.

So Satan takes on this ravaging lion that's going around seeking whom he may devour. This is where the attention of the mind comes in. He roams around and scouts. Job Chapters 1 and 2 tell us that Satan scouts God's people. The fact that he's roaming around is continuous.

Every day, we're being scouted as to what it is that Satan can use to occupy the attention of our minds. He can't take our salvation away from us, but basically, his attitude is "Oh, the Lord saves you and now He wants to renew your mind? Well, I'll just keep you busy!"

So he occupies the attention of our mind. We're too busy, too tired, and we got too much going on. When he devours, he devours mentally, not spiritually. He cannot devour me spiritually but he wants to occupy the attention of my mind.

James says to resist. In James 4:7, he says to resist the devil, and he will flee from you. We don't have to fight him. He's already been defeated.

In Ephesians 6:11, Paul says put on the whole armor of God that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Stand against is the word resist. He's to be resisted.

Verse 9: Whom resist stedfast, or solid in the faith, doing this, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished, or fulfilled in your brethren that are in the world. Every single brother and sister in Christ around the world is suffering or going through the same thing!
