Jim, it was troubling to read your understanding of Genesis chap 6 & particularly likening the Almighty God to a child throwing a 'hissy fit'. You demonstrate a very poor understanding of the Doctrine of God if all you can see in that passage is a simple-minded, irrational God.

If God Who has the wisdom & power to create all things out of nothing, but as you state, shown Himself to be incapable of controlling His Anger & not displaying the required commonsense, then where does your determination leave you as a simple sinful created being speaking so highly & ignorantly against the Holy Living God?

Could not your 'wisdom' in judging the Character of God as being flawed, leave you wallowing in your ignorance as one who is destitute of knowledge of Who God is & of His Plans for mankind, that you attempt to make judgement on? It seems that you would need to be at God's side, in full knowledge of His Plans & Purposes, seeing the rampant wickedness of mankind, noting the "preacher of righteousness" (Noah, 2 Peter 2:5) living amongst the wicked, & God's desire to give mankind another chance rather than wiping them all out forever, before even a reasonable judgement from you can be given.

Rather, we should all plead ignorance on matters that are way beyond our knowledge & our limited narrow worldly perspectives & submit to the All-Wise God Whose Word that goes out accomplishes all that He pleases. By declaring what you have just said only serves to demonstrate that part of your thinking that is perverted & in darkness about the God before Whom you will one day have to stand.

14 What then shall we say?(AC) Is God unjust? Not at all!(AD) 15 For he says to Moses,

"I will have mercy on whom I have mercy,

and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion."[f](AE)

16 It does not, therefore, depend on human desire or effort, but on God's mercy.(AF) 17 For Scripture says to Pharaoh: "I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth."[g](AG) 18 Therefore God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy, and he hardens whom he wants to harden.(AH)

A few thoughts on the pretrib rapture .

I remember before I was saved I often worried about getting left behind and I'd check just to make sure some people I though where strong Christians where still present . Glad those days are over ! :)

If it was true all Christians go so you don't need to believe in it . It's not the second coming of Christ that we need to be ready to open unto him .

The sad part is so many will be disappointed went it does not happen and may not be able to prepare for the real tough times .

When I found it to be false it was through the Bible over time , not a slam dunk as it is today . I much preferred the pretrib rapture and dreaded the alternative. But the truth is We are not appointed to wrath of God , but man may have some trouble for us etc .

But God as Apostle Paul said God shall deliver us from all affection and evil .

It takes time to realize that this life is temporary and God has such a bigger plan ahead !

He will get us there any way he wants .

So don't panic when it does not happen prepare for the worst and anyway . I have no fear of the future , the sooner we leave the better as far as I'm concerned! But God is patient and trying to save more ...

Stay faithful , you have done it so far , don't give in to temptation.

Only death frees a person from a marriage, read Romans ch 7 .

There is so much misinformation on divorces theses days .

    God will judge adulterers.

I met a couple years ago they both where married previous and decided to marry again and started a new marriage that they regretted later .

They felt they rushed into it and had bad counsel . They broke up the second marriage confessing the sin of it .

Your testimony Rob, was heartening to read, showing that in spite of your efforts, it took the blessed work of God's Spirit to make the difference to bring you to the points of acknowledgement , conviction & true cleansing. This old hymn immediately came to mind, which I think you may know:

    1

I know not why God's wondrous grace

To me He hath made known,

Nor why, unworthy as I am

He claimed me for His own.

    Refrain

But "I know Whom I have believed

And am persuaded that He is able

To keep that which I've committed

    Unto Him against that day."

    2

I know not how this saving faith

    To me He did impart,

Nor how believing in His word

    Wrought peace within my heart.

    3

I know not how the Spirit moves,

    Convincing men of sin,

    Revealing Jesus through the Word,

    Creating faith in Him.

    4

I know not what of good or ill

    May be reserved for me,

Of weary ways or golden days,

    Before His face I see.

    5

I know not when my Lord may come,

    At night or noon-day fair,

Nor if I'll walk the vale with Him,

Or "meet Him in the air."

May the joy of your salvation be your ever-present experience.

When in doubt read the Commentary:

    Wesley's Notes for 2 Thessalonians 2:2

2:2 Be not shaken in mind - In judgment. Or terrified - As those easily are who are immoderately fond of knowing future things. Neither by any pretended revelation from the Spirit, nor by pretence of any word spoken by me. (Paul the Apostle)

    People's Bible Notes for 2 Thessalonians 2:2

2Th 2:2 That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled. Be not agitated, or in distress. Neither by spirit. By some one who says he has a revelation of the Spirit. Nor by word, nor by letter AS FROM US. Nor by one who claims to quote a word or letter FROM US. It is thought that a FORGED letter had been circulated to which Paul alludes. In the close of this Epistle he shows how his letters may be known to be genuine. Some suppose, however, that by "letter" he refers to an incorrect interpretation which was placed on his first letter.

I notice that verse 3 seems to bear up, what Paul said in verse 2. We need to remember that Paul was probably incarcerated at this time.

The Falling Away of the Church is going on right now in the world. Lots of things happening to distract us and keep us preoccupied with a world going mad.

Verse 7: The Holy Spirit is restraining the Reveal of Antichrist, until God the Father takes Him out of the way.

This is not a good time to be backsliding or having one last fling.

We were told to have our lamps full of the Oil of the Holy Spirit and to be listening and looking for the Bridegroom.

If you have any unsaved loved ones; now is the time to urge them to come to Jesus now, and not Harden their hearts. Make your peace, forgive Everyone and say goodbye. We're that close.

    Dear brother Richard.

Your attitude & heart's response to those without Christ on this side of the grave, was very special to read & worthy of praise to the Lord for His Work of Grace & Humility that He has done, & is doing, in your life. That in very truth ought to be the attitude of every Spirit-filled child of God, looking not in condemnation on the evil in others, but recognizing the great deception that they're under with their resulting follies, for which their only healing balm can be faith in the shed Blood of Jesus. And even to pray for those who hate or persecute us does indeed take a great measure of love & compassion for them, which only can come from the Spirit of Love & Grace. And with such a Spirit, how can one ever wish for the suffering of another whether in life or death. May we, as we study the operation of God, as One Holy, Merciful & Just, lead us into His Truth that we may both love & warn others accordingly. May the Spirit of Christ be your ever-present Help & Guide Richard, in your life which is in Christ, in God.

Genesis 6 clearly demonstrates that God has the mind of a toddler or small child, throwing a hissy fit over his creation and then getting angry and murdering them, before crying over having had a hissy fit and getting upset and saving noah. No adult doesn't just pull all the weeds because one is a dandelion and looks like a flower - no, an adult will pull all the weeds, i.e. not save noah because he appears as though he is not a weed, even though he was, being human.
  • Rob - In Reply on Luke 3 - 5 years ago
Prior to this experience I cleaned up my life seeking to live right by the teaching of the word , I did not know this is repentance in action , just seemed like the right thing to do . But it was not enough . I knew what it meant follow Jesus , total commitment even death if needed to be faithful.

Death to self the world and evil . The Bible convinced me that I was still without God . As good as I could be I still knew nothing as I should . A very hard lesson to learn . But he changed me , I did not do it .

Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith . When we look back we see this clearer . At the time I did not see it clearly as now .

The KJV differs from NASB, NIV and others in the wording of 2Thes 2:1,2,3. Especially in regards to

verse 2 where KJV says the day of Christ is at hand, where the others say the day of the Lord has come. We have been told that the NASB comes from older (therefore more trusted) manuscripts by a pastor friend. This guy is, by the way, an expert in Greek and Hebrew and has both masters and

doctorate degrees. Nonetheless, we prefer the KJV for, perhaps not very good reasons. It seems to us that both KJV and NASB are consistent within themselves but differ greatly, one from the other. Have you any words of wisdom in support of the KJV? Thanking you in advance I am yours in Jesus.

Joy. Peace in the Holy Spirit. Anticipation for what is next. Falling more in love With Our Savior and Lord. Don't allow you happiness be diminished in that.

Peace, Joy and Happy anticipation for what is Next. Don't let anyone or any thing dampen what you are learning about the Lord.

    Philippians Chapter 3

12 Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.

13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but [this] ONE THING I DO, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

14 I PRESS toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.

    1 Corinthians 2:16

For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? BUT WE HAVE THE MIND OF CHRIST.

    Philippians 2:5

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

    Romans 7:25

I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with THE MIND I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

    Romans 15:6

That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Testimony by Mishael: I questioned the Lord one day; shortly after salvation, on these scriptures.

I said, Lord scientists say we only use 10% of our brains power potential. How come?

I was sitting waiting for reply. The Holy Spirit said the first scripture above.

Jesus doesn't have limitations on intelligence. He created it. You can thank the Lord for knowing his mind. There's no limitations. Some things we are unable to receive, because of the "Nay-sayers" that tell us we can't do that. "It's not scriptural'.

God doesn't withhold good gifts from His children. I asked for better memory and then I RECEIVED IT BY FAITH. My Bible studying and prayer life bloomed! My thanks to God, is using what he gives me.

You are not limited on asking in child-like faith for what you Need; not wants. Let all your requests be made known to God. He's your Daddy; ABBA. He knows what is good for us. Receive it. Give thanks. Give doubts the boot, out of your heart.

I used to write scriptures on notebook paper and post it on a cabinet near the stove. I'd be stirring things and had time to look at it.

Read it out loud. Look at it. Hear your voice saying it. See? Those are the mouth gate, the eye gate and the hearing gate. You're going to learn those scriptures easily. Just keep doing it till it flows right out of your mouth from Memory. You have His Mind at last. There are no limitations on what you can learn now.

If your kids hear you say it enough, they will learn it too. :D 1 Corinthians 2:16

Lastly. The most important thing, I believe, people should know of is the reality of Jesus Christ and the love of God our Father. To have people like you, and others "born again", is quite the glorious gift from the Lord. That we, with the Holy Spirit, can continue His ministry that He came here to earth to teach us. As none of us chose Him, He chose us all. As He knows our hearts. "No servant is greater than his lord".

Really, thank you very much again Chris. For being so kind in your reply. God Bless you my brother in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. You are always in my prayers.

It is no secret - the rapture will happen as St Matthew has told us. The followers of Christ will be lifted off this planet to meet God in the air just before the Tribulation begins. Their reward for remaining loyal and true to their Maker is that they will escape the utter desolation that will happen before the Second Coming.
  • Richard in Christ - In Reply on Matthew 1 - 5 years ago
    Good day Chris,

Thank you so very much for your warm reply my brother. I really appreciate it. As having anyone to converse about the Lord with is a Blessing to me. What I myself feel most important is, with scriptures in OT, how the lovingkindness, mercy, grace, and compassion of God is so great. And it endureth forever. How His thoughts, and ways, are so high above our ways. Then reading of the teachings of Jesus Christ of say "But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you". In Luke "But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil. Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful. Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven."

Things like these are truly moving to me and make me feel so humble. His love is so great it is marvelous. As I have seen a person on death row who was an ex satan worshipper. Killed his mother and father along with another person. He was speaking out on how real satan worship was. At the end he stated that the only way out is Jesus Christ. Trying to help others pointing them toward the Lord. As clearly he had an experience with Christ. Seeing things like this and how many other wicked people the Lord will save, to now have them on His side, is amazing.

My love and forgiveness goes out to everyone. Even the most wicked people have my prayers. The only thing I look down upon is satan and evil itself. Not people. The Lord can save anyone. I do not wish harm or bad on anyone. Especially I would not want someone to be tortured forever. As we know the only one given the right to be the Judge is Jesus Christ. And if I am wrong, and my love is too great, the Lord will guide me where He wants me.

    Hello Angela,

As I can't say I remember them in any order. Hopefully this may help. You can break them down into three things God wants us to do and seven things to stay away from. The three to do are: Love God with all your heart and have no other gods, Honor your father and mother, and keep the sabbath day Holy. The seven to "not do", maybe start with: Do not steal, do not lie, do not murder. Then: do not commit adultery, don't take the Lords name in vein, do not worship false idols, and do not covet.

I guess really just keep going over them and they should stick. As these Ten Commandments are just the beginning of battling, and staying away from, all sin. Which is much more vast. Along with producing much good fruit, in your life, for the Lord.

    God Bless.

I agree. I think many Americans prefer lies over truth. When offered facts and data that show the truth they don't seem interested. What they want to be true has become their worldview and is their religion. This is described in Romans 1:25.

    I answered yes to verse 26 .

Instantly my great burden was gone , and life has been quite new since ,I felt clean and new ....
