Hi Claire. We're glad to help with some advice as we know you're in a difficult situation & struggling with Church, etc. To your points:
a. When a person is saved (born again), it means that God does a special work in that person's life after she comes to the point of realizing that her life of sin or rejection of God is weighing heavily on her heart & there is nothing she can do to clean herself up & so is cast upon God for His mercies. Without that conviction of sin, there can be no salvation, otherwise we end up being like some in Churches: going regularly to feel good or try to make God feel good about them. This is not re-birth. So after acknowledging our sin & realizing that only Jesus Christ, God's Son can pay the price of your sin which you couldn't, then you run to the Cross & cling onto Jesus asking for forgiveness (not a physical cross but from your heart).
If you have truly come for the sake of the burden of your sinful life & not for any other motive, then God receives your repentance, forgives you your past sins, gives you His Spirit to be in you to give you a new life in Christ. The old sinful nature still remains, to which Satan appeals & causes us to stumble, but God's Nature (Spirit) will always work against the Old nature, which is when you immediately know when you stumble into sin (e.g. when the carpet salesman asked you about giving you an earlier quote & you lied - you immediately knew you had done wrong as the Spirit convicted you).
Jesus referred to His Spirit as the Comforter ( John 16:7). The Spirit's Work in the believer is to comfort, teach, convict of sin, encourage, help in praying, becoming more Christ-like, help to gain victory over sin ( 2 Corinthians 10:2-6), loving God & others with godly love ("agape"), etc. So you always have God in you as He has sealed you as belonging to Him for all eternity ( Ephesians 1:13, 14).
Hi again Chris,
Thank you for your continued support & advice. Yes, that was the verse I was referring to, So if we have to be born again first, then how would we know when we've born again ?
I have a couple of testimonies, but my younger pastor says that they are not sufficient for being baptised, So at this point I'm unsure what he wants from me.
1st testimony
I had depression & anxiety & it got to the point were I didn't want to wake up anymore. This night I woke up from a nightmare sobbing & asked God to give me peace & within a couple of mins I felt peace & contentment & was able to go back to sleep. (Praise God !!!)
2nd testimony
I was in a carpet shop with my mum for the 2nd time as we had been a few weeks earlier. Before we went in I said to my mum, I'm not going to mention the price that he gave me last time & see what price he says this time because I thought it was expensive last time, so tried another shop which was more expensive. Last time the carpet that I wanted was 10 per sq meter. The guy asked me if he had given me price last time & I said no. Then my mum turned round & said yes !!! (Did my mum honestly just say that & make me look & feel like a complete idiot !!!) I immediately felt condemned for lying & couldn't wait to get out of the shop, so that I could repent & ask for God's forgiveness, but I had to endure this shame for longer whilst he looked at the price & said this is not right. He said that he had made a mistake & that the carpet was 12 per sq meter. I just felt like he was just trying to take advantage me, so I said I'd let him know. I wasn't able to repent for a few hours later because my mum came back to mine for her tea as usual, but I finally repented & felt relieved. (Praise God !!!) I have just had my carpets fitted by another shop for 5 per sq meter, so I didn't have to go back to that other shop. (Praise God !!!) God is good !!!
God bless you & your family.
Kind Regards
Claire
We do know that Noah & his wife looked after some land, planting a vineyard ( Gen 9:20) & eventually he died at 950 yrs of age (verse 29). He would have been over 500 yrs old when the Ark came to rest on the mountains of Ararat, so was still in his 'prime' though we don't know of his wife's state. Since the Bible only speaks of the Earth being populated through his sons (verse 19), we have to assume that these boys were all he had, for if there were any more sons, then we might well have races that are separate to what is revealed. Maybe he had daughters.
Since we're not given the exact answer to this, I see a couple of choices: storms don't matter to Jesus - He is Lord over all, so in the midst of anything 'dangerous', nothing can rob Jesus of His Peace & Power. Secondly, He could have allowed the storm to arise so that his 'faithless' disciples could have a further witness of Who He was & also learn a great lesson of faith - a faith that we today even need to have as we go through the 'storms' of life. We all have difficulties, the apostles more so, but by faith we take hold of God's Hand so we can ride out the storms.
We must Hear the word of God Roman's 10:17, Believe it John 8 :24, Repent Luke 13:3, Confess that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, Matthew 10:32-33, Be baptized fir the remission of our sins, Acts 2:38, Acts 22:16, Mark 16:6, and live faithful and obedient. Matthew 10:22, Rev.2:10.
I agree with you that God will oversee and undertake in the return of your health. Cast all your cares and concerns upon Jesus. I pray that your faith in Him to heal, will not be shaken. Start praising Him and give thanksgiving for your help. Many healing scriptures in Proverbs. Speak them out, so your eye gate, ear gate and mouth gate will help your faith be stronger.
Have faith in God. Praise Jesus for delivering you. A merry heart doeth good like a medicine. When doubts attack you; bind the spirit of Infirmity and send it into outer darkness in Jesus's Name
Less tv and more Bible reading. ;)
Jesus loves you and so do I.
Holding resentments & grudges can be quite a stumbling block in a believers' life of victory. It can only be the Spirit's Work that will help you & heal you in this matter. Have your Dad's girlfriend & daughter hurt you in some way, or is it just their relationship that has brought your resenting them? If they have hurt you, the first step to healing is to let them know your pain & to clearly tell them that because of Christ's love in you, you forgive them for what they've done to you. Then bring the matter to the Lord & allow His Spirit to cleanse you & to work in you to truly forgive them & accept them. To play 'happy families' when you have anger in your heart is hypocrisy & detrimental to you & they too will see it. But if anger lingers in you, you cannot move forward spiritually as it will always be an impenetrable wall in your relationship with God.
All this takes time, even by being incommunicado with them for a while, till you accept them & see them as how God sees them: in love & mercy as to those who are without God's love & hope for eternal life. Remember that any unconfessed or harboured sin will always be an impediment in a believer's life; the Christian adage: "always keep short accounts with God" should be uppermost in our minds.
Hi again Claire. Thank you for reading that lengthy sermon - it was heavy going. I had to re-read it quickly to find the portion I think you're referring to. The part that seemed significant is:
"God cannot write his law in our inward parts till with water and with blood he has purged us. Tables on which the Lord shall write must be clean, therefore the heart on which God is to engrave his law must be a cleansed heart; and it is a great joy to perceive that from the person of our Lord heart-cleansing blood and water flowed, so that the provision is equal to the necessity. Blessed be the name of our gracious God, he knows how to erase the evil and to cleanse the soul through his Holy Spirit's applying the work of Jesus to us."
If this is the portion, then I don't believe Spurgeon is referring to water baptism or the requirement to be baptised first & then born again - that would be totally erroneous. His mentioning "water & blood" is his direct reference to 1 John 5:6, 7: "This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."
There have been several interpretations of this "by water & blood". I feel it indicates Jesus' physical birth (water) & He speaks of this in John 3:5 & then the "blood": of His Sacrifice. Or, Spurgeon could even be recalling the water & blood that issued out of the Lord whilst on the Cross ( John 19:34). We're unclear but it wasn't anything to do with water baptism which can only be taken after first being born again by faith in Jesus's Sacrifice & the indwelling & renewal of the Holy Spirit.
Question
Where in the King James Bible does it read in full or in part where Peter stated, " I'm not worthy to suffer the same crucifixion as Christ?"
Jesus the Son of God, and the Son of Man
The Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Christ. The 3rd Person of the Godhead.
It means loss of rewards at the Bema Seat Judgment Of Christ Jesus, when All Christians works will pass through fire.
If you have caused baby Christians to fall away from believing that every word on the Bible is rock solid, you may face loss of reward.
We need to be aware this. Commenting is to shed Light...not darkness on Truth: who is a Person, Jesus. It is NOT about spinning a new way to see a foundational truth.
For what reason would we spin controversy that may cause a baby lamb or sheep to fall away? Nothing can be added to, or taken away from what is written and recorded in the Bible.
Jesus said, I and my Father are one and the same; several times, in the Bible. PERIOD.
In no way do I approve what other people add or subtract from that statement. I hope someday you will realize that the one reason for denying Truth, to teach others another way; is PRIDE. Something that God hates.
Mishael
I don't judge or condemn anyone for anything. God is our Eternal Father and I build upon the foundation of Jesus Christ is Lord.
I prayed to God for over twenty years. Not believing in Jesus Christ. No prayers got answered. Once I accepted Jesus Christ everything changed. Jesus Christ is the only way to the Father.
God Bless you.
Where in scripture is that reference made in the King James Bible
It would be great if we all made Heaven our home. God still has rules and those that obey will make it to Heaven. Those that reject the truth do not make it. We can choose to obey or not. We choose to believe the Bible or not. The Bible still says there's a Heaven and a Hell as places for spending eternity. Heaven for the ones that love and obey God and His Word and have been saved from sin. Hell is for all that reject His truths and die an unrepentant sinner. The kingdom of God includes all that are freed from sin, and excludes all that still sin against God. Sin is a willfully disobedience.
I'm not in opposition - you are by not wishing to expound John 1:1-14 as suggested. Therein lies a clear declaration of who Jesus is pre-incarnate & needs to be accepted as given. To deny the Word coming in the flesh as Jesus, is to deny the true God-head & brings to us that a clear warning that deception lies before us ( 1 John 4:1-3).
How could that be ?
Jesus being born of God was one with God more then any of us know , because his relationship was never interrupted by sin from the womb of Mary .
Yes only He had this , even John the Baptist the greatest of all apostles said He was not worthy to undo his Shoe laces ! Wow do you get it ?
The in verse 3 they stated that our fellowship is with the Father and son .
Jesus being one with God by perfect living his whole life not only demonstrated but also could teach the way of God by his genuine experience. God testified that Jesus well pleased him , yes his Son Jesus .
Jesus was able to reveal God like no other , because he was born of God . With a mission to save the world .
That takes a lot of God to do that , and he did it . any wonder why he is now at the fathers right hand ?
He was not there before but he is now at Gods right hand , because he deserves it . And it's all Gods sovereign plan . Jesus said not my will but your will be done to his father
when faced with the most difficult task ! Wow even brave Peter denied him and ran away !
Yes Jesus revealed the life of God and so much more , to them so they write in 1 John .
Spiritual life in God . And Jesus is the true leader and did it all perfectly.
There is so much more that could be said but it's longer than I like already .
