We can know there's 'us' when God created man, as God said 'Let us make man in our image.'

COMMENT:

We should serve the Lord out of love and for God's glory, and understanding the nature of rewards will help us do that. God gives us salvation. It is a gift through faith, but He rewards us for good works. God graciously supplies the means by which we may serve Him. He works in us both to WILL and to DO, as we willingly receive His grace, but the decision to serve, and the diligence used in doing so, are our responsibility and our contribution and God sees this as rewardable.

Daniel, you bring up some good points in this account of Lot & his family. Unfortunately, the whole story of Lot's life is not given to us (& this is not a cop out to excuse him or even to suggest something that's not written). So we can only guess what might have happened. We do know that the Apostle Peter ( 2 Peter 2:6-8) speaks of the righteous aspect of Lot, in that he was vexed by the wickedness of Sodom & Gomorrah, which might have meant that he did, in some small way, try to influence the people to turn from wickedness - he had some authority there in Sodom as he "sat at the gate of Sodom". Yet, Peter doesn't refer to what he did that we regard as sinful behaviour.

It's noteworthy, that in eastern cultures, certainly in times of the Old Testament, that when a guest comes to your house, he is regarded with the highest honour possible, both in receiving the best you have to offer as well as full protection. The only right thing for Lot to do when confronted by those depraved men at his door was to offer his daughters so that his guests would not be humiliated or hurt. I did wonder why Lot didn't offer himself - it would have been the more noble thing to do. I realize that this type of behaviour is a difficult concept for us to grasp & should not be used as an excuse for such sin, but that's how it was.

In regards to God dealing with Lot - we just don't know. Did God severely chastise him & judge him & ultimately relegated him to the abyss? Or, did Lot realize his great folly & cry out to God in repentance, having also been witness to his Uncle Abraham's sins of the past & possible repentance at the altar he made ( Genesis 12:12-20; 13:1-5)? We can only speculate, rather than condemn Lot & his daughters entirely. And we know that God never overlooks sin & judgement remains for those who spurn His Love by sinning. Yet His Mercy extends to all sinners & His Grace to fully forgive the penitent.

In our last days God has warned us about in the writings of His words spoken thru the Bible. What have you done with your Life? All the outcome will hit you right in the face when you realize how many times God gave you Blessings and you threw them away on this sinful world of me -myself- and l will do what l want...when l want- and thru others telling you to do different. The evilness coming out to destroy God's gift to you. No one but you exposed your life. Just think how it will look in the Book of Life as it starts being read to you. You will be on your knees begging God for another chance. But how long did you have a chance to change your life on Earth. How many times have you helped others less fortunate. Didn't Jesus give of Himself to others never thinking of Himself. Didn't He bring the wisdom of His Father to others. He was always reaching out to the needs of others. No one knows how strong His Love and His Father's Love is until you walk into it. I did more then once. You can not describe it. The world knows nothing of this compassionate Love that can move a mountain. Not only does it come from the heart but the energy of His whole being. That is why no matter how bad you are He stands near waiting for His Last sheep to return. Knocking always until you do. The Light is so caring it will blind you at first. Love that comes from the inside out always looking inside the person. Never the outside. Pure Love!!!! Are you going to let that go when you are able to meet Him? Time is coming faster and faster. Get wise now! Beware now.. Start climbing the stairs to Heaven by doing good thru His Words. Don't let Satan drag you to the pit of Hell! Wise up now!!! Heed my warnings now!!! Conchita, I too was raised RC and was practicing until I was 33 years old. When I made the same discovery about the commandments as you have, I made my first step away from the Roman church. They changed the commandments so they can keep their idols and images. Ask yourself...why do you need two commandments for coveting? I am appalled when I think of how they made me worship idols. But praise God for His mercy in forgiveness and praise Him for deliverance from the pagan church!!!

If you took the name Jesus Christ out of catholicism, you would still have the mass, the pope, cardinals, priests, nuns, The "hail Mary" and the rosary, all the many rituals, and their "sacraments"...get the picture?

The Bible declares that divorce is a sin as it breaks the special lasting bond that a husband & wife can enjoy: the two shall be one flesh. So Paul says in 1 Corinthians 6:16, "know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh." So any sexual union outside of marriage is considered an act of adultery.

When you say "when the partner cannot understand each other any longer", is it that misunderstandings & arguments are so frequent that the marriage is no longer loving & committed? At times, a couple can come to 'loggerheads' or the marriage becomes so stale or difficult that divorce seems the only release from that situation. However, in a Christian marriage, divorce is not an option, but there is room for a separation ( 1 Corinthians 7:11) with a view to take time away from each other to consider the matter & for eventual reconciliation. Yet, if even this isn't possible, then a permanent separation may be needed, but both parties remain unmarried.

This sounds difficult, especially if the suffering becomes unbearable in marriage, even if everything is done, including both praying & waiting on the Lord, seeking counselling & giving the marriage another shot by making some changes in those areas of conflict. If there's still no hope, then only a separation is permitted. If they still want to divorce & re-marry, then they come under the Hand of God for their outcome. But as I say, everything must be done to save the marriage, which is holy before God.

Hi Claire, I think I misunderstood Ss' reply to you concerning the Church. Re-reading it shows that Ss also believed that the Church is the body of believers & not a building. Apologies.

Re: The Way Prepared. At their subject, 'Our Greatest Hindrance', the major part of that was highlighting that the Sabbath Day should still be the day that believers meet for worship. I'm unsure where you stand on this matter, but I think you are happy to go to your Fellowship on a Sunday or do you insist it be a Saturday?

The other subject I looked at on that Site, was 'What are the Ten Commandments'. In the most part, the instruction was correct, though with the emphasis to keep the Commandments as a duty in the Christian walk was not properly addressed & balanced. The material failed to take in, to whom the Commandments were specifically given, why they were given, & the Apostle Paul's discourses on the cessation of the commandments upon the advent of the New Covenant through Jesus' Blood. We can indeed be taught about God's requirements for Holy living from the commandments & other instructions to us, but to rest on them for our salvation & entrance to the New Jerusalem, I find erroneous. I can't go into detail here about this as it would require many pages, though, if you search on this Site, you might see some of the discussions we've had on it - both for & against.

I grew the most as a Christian, just reading the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Paying close attention to everything Jesus said or did, or revealed. How did he act?

I read it real slow so I wouldn't skim by and miss something. I learned who he is; I saw how he reacted. He doesn't get explosive on people. He's patient, kind, righteous: he likes to tell stories; so do I.

If no one would listen, he moved on to the next place. He won people's hearts by telling them of Gods heart. He has a deep love for kids.

I went to the same church with a guy named, CARMAN. He's lived his life doing concerts at Churches, for kids and their families. He's a very kind, funny at times and loves to sing about Jesus. Check out some of his videos on YouTube. Type in YO KIDZ. My favorite song is The Champion.

No contradiction: when we sin or when God disciplines us, we will suffer at His Hand. I'm not talking about a God of evil or God Who creates evil as has been discussed. I'm talking here about when we do wrong & we suffer at God's Hand. Is this the work of an evil God? Is a parent evil for disciplining his child, or the Law in punishing the wrong-doer? No evil created but we suffer 'evil' at their hands.

Giving "me permission to kill someone" is a strange example, but yes, if you could give me 'permission' & I took 'advantage' of that, then I don't see how you would be blamed, though your mental state could be brought into question. The blame & punishment rests upon me who committed the crime. But if you compelled me to kill, indeed threatened me with death if I refused you, then you would bear the greater responsibility - and God doesn't force or compel us to do wrong (or, evil).

The Godhead in their mercy, confused the languages. People drifted off to other regions to build their own cities where they settled. I don't remember Nimrod stopping them?

I consider myself to be a willing slave to Jesus: because He first loved me. I had to learn of that love, and to receive it. Gratitude and worship of Who He is, is where I choose to be. I desire to embrace all that He desires me to be. Free of self imposed hindrances that this flesh struggles against the desire of the spirit: which wants to worship God alone. We do groan inwardly to be free.

Belonging to Jesus is my one great happiness. Family and other things are blessings, but I don't set them above the love of God.

We all make our own way towards Him, the easiest way we will come. I fall over rocks at times, but I get up and continue the journey.

That carnality in our self is the biggest rock. It opposes progress to the freedom that is only found in Christ.

That's why it's my thought that true slavery already existed within ourselves. It wars against the freedom that is in Christ. But our deepest heart wants to be free.

People are captured by the flesh and taken captive (enslaved to bondage) by ever present, Satan. Who watches, studies our weakest cracks: drugs, porn, overeating, reading a horoscope instead of reading the Bible for an encouraging word for our day.

Spending plastic money instead of saving so we can pay cash. Envying other people's homes, wives, cars.

It takes change within, to set us free from what the flesh wants. People want freedom! They just don't see the Bible as a means to be free. They try everything (they see on tv) trying to get free. The worldly voice just wants your money! Even your Soul.

Only Jesus heals. He can cure us. Change us. Free us slaves.

David, you've given some great Scriptures about sickness, prayer & healing for the believer. I can't fault the Truth therein & its reality. The problem arises with the understanding of the sanctifying work of the Spirit. We've discussed this at length & I do understand your position on this, but I've yet to clearly see that the Spirit's Work in the believer includes the removal of sin & the sin nature.

As well, I don't share your belief that sin is only a spiritual illness. That sin, which finds its home in the carnal nature in man, has as its products, sickness, disease & death. No sin nature = no sin, sickness or death. But I stop here as we've beaten this matter to death though it has served to show me how other believers regard scriptural Truths. Thank you for your time, David, you are one of the few who have stayed the distance.

Yet, I always, through a medium such as this where one only sees the person's words & considers them as if genuine & searching, then one ought to give as accurate a response as possible based on Scripture & the Spirit's moving. As well, I always think of those who don't write in, but in their search for answers or in a desperate state, they might be drawn to KJB Online seeking help. I ask myself: how would it be if they only saw one comment, & then accepting that to be true, since there were no further comments or challenges to consider?

Actually, I despise being argumentative, yet for the Truth's sake, there is a clear warrant for standing up for one's beliefs & on the other side of the coin, that I too might gain some insight or understanding in a matter that I was unclear about. I have enjoyed some great 'debates' over the time, & mostly I've learned what a diverse lot we are as Christians, in how we understand the Scriptures from personal study & what we accept as Truth as coming from the pulpit or from authors. And yet, in spite of our sometimes very divergent understanding of the Scriptures, the Lord still loves us so much & I'm sure longs for that time (as we too wait) when all these 'debatable' things will be clearly understood & the hidden things revealed. Yet certain Truths must be tenaciously held onto & defended. As you know, most of our activity on Earth is greatly influenced by what is unseen.

God is also completely comfortable with the concept of beating your slaves, as long as you don't kill them. [Leviticus Chapter 25, verse 44:

Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves. You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property. You can will them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life, but you must not rule over your fellow Israelite's ruthlessly.]

Here God states where you may purchase your slaves, and clearly specifies that slaves are property to be bought, sold and handed down. and this is what Jesus has to say about .[ 1st Peter 2:18 slave submit yourself to your masters with all respect not only the good and gentle ones but also the cruel.] shouldn't the Bible say, "Slavery is wrong -- you may have no slaves"? Shouldn't one of the Commandments say, "thou shalt not enslave"? Ephesians 6:5

I love reading of the great women in the bible. Just finished the book of Ruth.

I doubt that if it was all translated into Greek or Hebrew, it would convince. The Pharisees knew all of the scriptures but they still did not believe and refused to believe Jesus was the Messiah they had preached about. It would've meant that there was One greater than themselves.

Their security of income would end. It would be like telling the Pope, you're fired: the true Messiah is here. People can pray to Jesus and be forgiven now.

God knew this would happen just as it is. If He wrote on the sky with His finger, they would denounce it; call it a lying wonder.

The evangelist in my spirit says that there are still many who Will believe Jesus is who scripture says He is. Over 100 scriptures were fulfilled on the event of Jesus's crucifixion. Those odds alone prove He is who scripture says He is.

There's an ocean of people who will believe. If people are stubborn resistant, it tells me that the Holy Spirit is not drawing those people. They need prayer and fasting. We can say a prayer for them and ask Jesus to draw them on cords of love.

You feel like giving up till you remember how Jesus ministered. He cast out the devils and then the person is healed and in their right mind.

Be at peace that you always give it your best effort; then move along to those who are Ready to hear Truth.
