    Michael,

Paul wrote 1 Corinthians as a correctional letter to a carnal church. That was their spiritual condition. Paul had evangelized in Corinth during his second missionary journey and many were saved at that time. But there was a lot of corruption in the church in Corinth and Paul wrote the letter to answer a lot of questions the church there had.

Now the verses you listed where Paul begins by saying What?, I'm not sure if he's scolding them or asking it this way as if to say this is something you should know by now.

Remember, Paul evangelized there earlier. But 3 to 5 years later they have all these problems in the church and they have a lot of questions for Paul.

Remember I said they were a carnal church? Did you know that a Christian can be carnal and it be completely normal? But there is also an abnormal carnal.

There are two Greek words for carnal. The only difference in the two words is one letter. We have Sarkinos, and Sarkikos. It is the word for flesh. That's what the word carnal means. Sarkinos is normal. Sarkikos is abnormal.

Paul told them in 1 Corinthians Chapter 3 that when he first came to them that he could only feed them with milk and not meat. He said because they were yet carnal, and he used the word Sarkinos. It was normal because they were newborn babes in Christ. As newborn believers, they could only handle the milk of the word.

But now 3 to 5 years later Paul is writing to them and basically saying that by now they should be more established as a church, but they are still carnal, only this time the word Sarkikos is used, abnormal carnal.

So Paul wrote this letter as a correctional letter to a carnal and corrupt church. I hope I have made some sense out of this and I hope this answers your question.

If anything, I've shared some Greek with you. We see the English word carnal and we automatically think that it is bad. But in the Greek, there is a normal carnal (Sarkinos), and an abnormal (Sarkikos).

    Cheryl,

I'm Looking at Hebrews 11:35. It says women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:

Women received their dead raised to life again?

I have some references to share with you where God did did some miraculous things to restore their children to back to them. Read 1 Kings 17:23 and 2 Kings 4:36-37.

Hebrews 11:35 goes on to say: And others, and by the way, the word others, because there are two main words in Greek, one means others of the same kind, and one means others of a different kind.

This is others of the same kind. The reason why that's important is because the others by faith experienced all these conquests.

But others of the same kind of people didn't. And it was all by faith.

And others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:

They didn't value the survival of their life, but they were tortured and put to death, and by faith they looked to a better resurrection.

Remember also in the New Testament that Lazarus was raised from the dead.

  • CHRISTIAN DIVORCE - In Reply on Matthew 5:32 - 6 years ago
I always ask that a person see their Pastor for some counseling if it's available now (with some churches closed). Divorce is a hard issue for Christians. I do know it's really hard on the children. Culture doesn't always consider what's best for them in this situation.

Do not tell them who the guilty party is!! Let them love each parent without having to blame one or the other.

There are reasons why God gave man/woman these rules for marriage and divorce. He's on yours and the kids side.

    Deuteronomy 34:1-4, is the Law;

1 Corinthians 7, is in the period of grace.

Read both when you are calm. Pray much.

    Deuteronomy 34:1-4 (tap the link)

When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house.

And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man's wife.

    And if the latter husband hate her, and write her a bill of divorcement, and giveth it in her hand, and sendeth her out of his house; or if the latter husband die, which took her to be his wife;

Her former husband, which sent her away, may NOT take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled; for that is abomination before the LORD: and thou shalt not cause the land to sin, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.

    ***

You see the seriousness? The children are not to know of "adult issues". No sleepovers, no romantic displays in front of them. It messes with their emotions seriously, and they will have lifelong trust issues.

Matthew 19:27-28 The Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the 12 tribes of Israel. (How will the saints judge the 12 tribes? Because there will still be flesh and blood beings on earth when the Lord returns).

Revelation 21:1-3 (this is the Father coming down with New Jerusalem) John saw the holy city, New Jerusalem coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

Revelation 21:10 John was shown the great city, the holy Jerusalem descending out of heaven from God.

Revelation 6:1-8; 12-17 Takes place during the tribulation on earth, but also speaks of Jesus AFTER the tribulation and the wrath he will bring on earth. (Reference Isaiah 2:10 and Isaiah speaks of this event in Revelation 6)

Revelation 7:1-4. 9; 13-14 the Lord will seal his servants in their foreheads. 144,000 of all the tribes of Israel. He will also save a "great multitude" which no man could number of "all" nations. (These are the people who survived the Great Tribulation, some who will have gotten converted during the tribulation)

Matthew 24:29-31 Immediately after the tribulation the Lord returns.

Revelation 19:11-14;19-21 Heaven will open, Jesus will show up on a white horse. He will judge and make war.

I know that's a lot. I hope that you will read through the scriptures on your own time.

But know this, there will only be a 3 and a half year actual tribulation period, and anyone who is alive during that time will have to try and survive it, unless they are in the place of safety on earth which the Lord will have reserved for his people...and that place is the Wilderness over in Jerusalem.
  • THE GODHEAD EXPLAINED - In Reply on John 1:10 - 6 years ago
Write these scriptures in the back of your Bible. This comes up frequently.

    The GODHEAD:

    Father, Son, Holy Spirit

    Acts 17:27-30

    John 10:30

4 Events when the Godhead spoke to each other concerning a matter:

    The "LET US" scriptures"

    Genesis 1:26

    Genesis 3:22

    Genesis 11:7

    1 John 5:7

If your Bible has center of each page, columns; read the scriptures it lists for those verses. It widens the information, or sometimes mentions a prophesy. You'll discover many gems of wisdom that way.

The Church is never in "heaven" per se at the wedding ceremony. Everything takes place on earth. The Lord will dwell in Jerusalem when he returns.

Acts 1:6-12 The angel said the Lord will return in like manner.(Notice the Lord was on the Mt. of Olives when he left earth)

Zechariah 14:1-5 (Read the entire chapter) Notice verse 5 His feet shall stand that day upon the Mt. of Olives which is before Jerusalem on the east. (The entire chapter of Zechariah 14 takes place while the Lord is dwelling on earth)

Zechariah 14:9-11 Lord shall be king over all the earth.

Zechariah 14:16-19 The Feast of Tabernacles will be held in Jerusalem each year where Jesus will be dwelling.

Zechariah 8:1-8 Lord returns to Zion and dwells in the midst of Jerusalem. Jerusalem will be called City of Truth. He will bring his people to Jerusalem to be his people and he their God. (This has not taken place yet; it's all future)

Isaiah 66:15-18;19-20;23-24 All flesh will come worship him from one new moon to another, one Sabbath to another. People who are in the lake of fire will not have their fire quenched. (this is all future)

Revelation 20:1-3 The Angel comes to bound Satan 1,000yrs. (This is the First resurrection) These saints will reign with Christ 1,000yrs.

I Thessalonins 3:13-17 The Lord coming with all his saints in the clouds. See Daniel 7

Daniel 7:1-3;13-14; (verse 13 remember the Lord said he's coming back in the clouds?)

Daniel 7:7-18;27 (verse 27 under the heaven is where Jesus' Kingdom will be)

Luke 1:26-27;30-33 (What did the angel tell Mary? Read verse 30-33.) That God promised DAvid someone would come through his lineage and sit on the throne of David. (Jesus will come to earth to sit on David's throne.)

Psalm 123:11-16 The Lord swore in truth to David he will sit upon David's throne. (Who are his children? the Saints).

David's throne will be in Jerusalem.

    I will continue...

Jesse, I'm not sure what part of my comment you disagree with, but this initially was about Revelations 21 and my saying it takes place after the Lord's 1,000 year reign on earth. After his reign the Father will come down bringing New Jerusalem with him. Basically no man will ever go to the 3rd heaven where the Father, Son and holy angels dwell currently. God's desire is to dwell with man on earth stationed in Jerusalem. Heaven will be on earth. At no time will man ascend to the 3rd heaven to dwell while others are left behind.

I have scriptures to support my claim but it would take 5 boxes or more to explain. :-P
  • Who is God on John 6:38 - 6 years ago
Who is God? He is the all MIGHTY Creator of our entire universe. We as humans seem to forget He is always around us. We seem to be in our world. Me Myself and I. Easy to anger- easy to Judge others. But do you ever take the time to ask God what He wants of us? Do we ever turn around to the less fortunate and ask them what they need? The churches think they are so all mighty. But l have watched the cold hearts toward the needy. Jesus was always around for anyone that needed him. Was there anyone around to show their Love before the cross? What about now. What are we to become in these days of evilness and control? Our children...our God. Will we with stand all the pain for the All Mighty and fight. He is Our strength...our protection.. So are we going to

deny Him when troubles come full force... Think people...think!!! Bless the Lord...Dont run away!!!
  • Naya - In Reply on Revelation 21 - 6 years ago
Jesse, I realize that the Lord will gather the Children of Israel upon his return. The children of Israel are a people who have been scattered throughout the four corners of the earth. Scattered and not people who migrated. They are a people who were led away captive. (Referencing Deuteronomy 28 the curses). So I get that. But keep in mind upon his return he will give natural born Israelites their spiritual bodies as well as other nations who were are found worthy will receive their spiritual bodies.

"The Church" applies to everyone who will be grafted into the God Family natural born and spiritual.

He is only making "one" more return to earth and when he does, "everyone" will see him. It will not be secret. As he is descending, the dead in Christ will rise first, and those humans who are alive upon his return will get their change and meet him in the clouds, then they will all return right back to the earth. As he has stated he is returning to rule on earth 1,000 years. Spirit beings and mortal beings living together during the thousand years.

But Jesus will be teaching the children of Israel in the Wilderness for 3 and a half years when he returns. No scriptures support a 7 year tribulation. It's 3 1/2 years no matter where you read the Book.

The last 3 1/2 years the Lord will finish his ministry and teach Israel in the Wilderness. Perhaps that's where people get confused. But the actual tribulation will begin as soon as the man of sin moves from Rome and sits in the Third Temple which will be built in Jerusalem soon. When the Abomination of Desolation moves into the temple, the 3 and a half year tribulation will begin.

This only allows for so many characters. I will have to continue.

Question arises. Being Jesus came as the second Adam, then it seems the Church would be the new Eve and the Church would possess the Godly qualities of the woman by born again members, why then do these same members seem to have their own agendas instead of the submission to the will of the second Adam, Jesus Christ?

    Part 2:

The Jews will be kept safe from harm during the last 3-1/2 years of the Tribulation Period, known as The Great Tribulation. They are told that when they see the abomination of desolation setting up in their temple, to flee. This will be at the mid-point of the 7-year period. No harm will come to them. The church will not be on the earth at this time. The ones who are told to flee are the Jews. God knows that at this time, there are 144,000 Jews who are sealed by God and He is going to protect them. Many believe that they will flee into the Rock City of Petra.

I see nothing in scripture that tells me that the church will be here or what role the church will have during this 7-year tribulation period. I read about the events of the Tribulation from Revelation Chapter 4 through Chapter 19, and not one place in those chapters is the church mentioned. After Revelation Chapter 3, there is no mention of the church. But when I get to Chapter 19, it seems to me that in Chapter 19 of Revelation, the church is in heaven at a wedding that is taking place while the tribulation is still happening on the earth and before Christ comes back at His second coming. Who are these people at this wedding? Who's getting married? Who are the ones in Chapter 19 who are clothed in white, the garments of a bride? Whoever they are, they will be the ones coming back with Christ at His second coming. I believe it is the church. At least, this is what I see. Please share your thoughts on this.

    Naya,

The people mentioned in Matthew 24:29 to the end of the chapter that Christ is going to gather are Jews, not the church. The word "Tribes" in Verse 30 is very important. That tells us that we are talking about Jewish people. It is a Jewish term. All the tribes of the earth shall mourn. And they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. All the tribes! Again, that would be Jews.

In Revelation Chapter 1 Verse 7, it tells us that every eye will see Him, even those who have pierced Him. Zechariah 12:10 is a prophecy that the Jews hold to, only they don't understand its application. It says that when Messiah comes, they will look upon Him whom they have pierced.

So at this time when Christ comes, at His second coming, the Jews who are left on the earth, they are going to mourn, and they are going to look and go "Oh no, we crucified our Messiah, and here He is!" The Jews are going to recognize Him.

Verse 31 also uses a keyword, and that is the word "elect." It tells us that when Christ does come, He shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet. I'll share some technical information with you to show you how good this passage really is:

He is going to send His angels out with a great sound of a Shofar. It's a ram's horn. In the Greek text, the word "sound" is in brackets, which means it has been added to the text by some unseen person who doesn't understand the fact that the word "great" modifies the trumpet. It is called a great Shofar.

The prophecy is in Isaiah Chapter 27 Verses 12 and 13. It says the great Shofar will blow, and the Lord will gather His people (The Jews) from the four corners of the earth. So that is very important because that's also a prophecy that the Jews looked for. It says He is going to gather them together, His elect, that would be the Jews, from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other, north, south, east, and west.

Running out of space, I will send a Part 2:

This is one of my favorite chapters in the bible. Firstly we see the Son of God before He was called Jesus visiting Abraham again in person accompanied by two angels. We see His sense of humor when He calls out Sarah for laughing in the tent. She thought it was so funny that she was going "to have pleasure" with old Abraham. Well past her menstrual time as well so a real miracle indeed to have a baby named Isaac "laughter". Then we see Abraham actually bargaining with God. He must have really been Gods friend to say things like "shall not the judge of all the earth do right"...thats gutsy and you only talk like that to a real friend especially if they are God.I'm so encouraged by the fact that we can talk to God as a friend, also that He has a real connection to us through His son, firstly as creator and old testament visitor, then via Mary, a fellow human and saviour of the world.

Hebrews 12:25 and 1 Corinthians 10:13 are the strongest scriptures for not committing suicide.

If one is going to throw their lives away, why not give that life to Jesus? Give your life to Him, and take Jesus's Life so you can live. Call on Jesus and receive help.

    1 Corinthians 10:13

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a WAY TO ESCAPE, that ye may be able to bear it.

1 Corinthians 3:16-17 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

Ecclesiastes 7:17 Be not over much wicked, neither be thou foolish: why shouldest thou die before thy time?

Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

James 4:7-10 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Romans 14:7 For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

1 John 1:9 - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

John 16:33 - These things I have spoken unto you, that IN ME you might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

    Proverbs 8:36

But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.

If they will trust Jesus and be born again

John 3, and receive the Holy Spirits baptism; God will turn your spirit ON and you will experience a new, different kind of life. People who are alive spiritually can suddenly HEAR the voice of their Heavenly Father, speaking to them through their innermost being. It is very clear that Revelation 21 takes place after Jesus' 1,000 year reign on earth with man.

Revelation 21 is the Father God bringing the New Jerusalem from heaven to place it on earth.

At this time there will be nothing left but spirit beings. Those who were tossed in the lake of fire, and those found worthy to dwell in the Kingdom.

Every single event regarding humans will take place on earth. When the Great Tribulation starts, we will be on earth. The only place of safety will be The Wilderness, which the Lord will prepare for those found worthy.

Tribulation will be 3 and a half years. Matthew 24:29 immediately after the tribulation is when the Lord will return to gather his people.

    Dear Lynn,

    I'm praying for you.

Have you read this verse from 1 John? You might consider reading that chapter.

    Link

It says love casts out fear. The opposite of fear is love. This means that if you practice love, including loving God and loving others, then you can loosen your fear- it won't grip you as much. How can you practice this? You can worship God with praise songs, prayer, meditate on the truth of his words in the Bible. You can also volunteer to help others with acts of kindness. Maybe you help comfort others and help reduce their fear by showing your love and kindness. Write encouraging letters to others or spend quality time in person, or do acts of service to help those in need. Giving gifts. There are different ways to express love and fill your life with this, and in turn, help build up others. Also, practicing gratefulness. Making lists of positive things you've done, have experienced, and look forward to. Even the simple things, like if you have a 2 arms and 2 legs, can talk, or write, or have a computer, or a place to live.

    PHILIPPIANS 4:8. God bless you!

John 19, John 20. Jesus is the firstborn of believers to be raised from the dead. The dead in Christ now: their bodies are buried and await being reunited with soul and spirit at the moment of the Rapture; in the clouds. Then the alive in Christ, Christians will be next, to be changed into our transformed bodies; incorruptible.

In scripture, God says ALL souls are MINE!

Satan can hunt our souls and try to trick us into giving it to him. We have to receive salvation to avoid satans delusion that he will get our souls. IF we die in our sins our bodies will corrupt in the grave and our souls will await the Great White Throne Judgment; afterwards the soul will be cast into hell for eternity.

If we love our souls? We'll choose Jesus to save us NOW. He is: the LOVER of our souls.

    Do you want this too?

    Adam,

Yes, I have read John 10:30.

The word "one" is the Greek world "hen" which is neutral, and means "one in essence", not one person, which would be the Greek word "heis," which is masculine.

You have picked one Scripture out of the Bible to prop your belief up on without putting it in context, look at ( John 10:22-29).

Again, what do you do with all those Scriptures that says God and Jesus are two different entities?

It's speaking on his enemies planning or attempting his destruction.

Many people experience that emotion. We can't all make reconciliation with enemies. Can't run away or take a nap to block it out.

Enemies can be in our minds or real.

Confrontation, with God, is the better choice. Best way to defeat an enemy is listen to what God says.

The enemy of our souls is satan. He's a hunter of souls. The fight is spiritual. You can't see your enemy, but you Know that it's there. That's why God tells us in Ephesians 6, to suit up with armor.

Lol, What scriptures am I twisting around? I'm only reading it as it says and not adding anything too it, others do that (your adding -"from the serpents wrath"). Precept must be upon precept, line upon line, here a little and there a little. What you say only confuses things further - its been said that in the future - (last days), the "Anti-Christ" will appear, so since you say that the serpent in verse 14 is that "Anti-Christ", your placing this verse to happen in the future but wait...America is "nourishing" - funding Israel (the land mass) now so does that mean the "Anti-Christ" is here now? In other words, is America nourishing Israel from the serpents wrath now? How could that be if the serpent is not here yet? Smh

Lastly, we know that serpent and dragon are the same thing based on verse 12:9, so where does John pull this similitude from, the old testament Job 30:29 - I am a brother to dragons, and a companion to owls. Job, an Israelite, calls his brother a dragon...who was Jobs brother, Esau - Malachi 1:3 And I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness - GOD calls Esau "dragons of the wilderness". Notice here that the serpent or dragon as spoke of in the old testament refers to more than one and not one single man but many men or a nation such as Esau that was a man in the beginning but spawned a prominent birthright nation of people as God told Abraham and Sarah.
