Sandy, dear heart, please be patient remember God works everything out to His praise and glory. Also He works according to His will good pleasure, knowing the end from the beginning, what we desire may not be in accord with His plan nor His time frame for things to happen in our lives. All that being said, when you feel all hope is lost and every man 's hand is against you, I find it most helpful to turn to the book of Romans, chapter 8, it never fails to refresh my spirit. Hope these words have been of some encouragement. Stay strong in the Lord and may God richly bless you.

While it is good to seek a sign from the Lord, He does not take kindly to the wicked seeker, for the wicked seeker seeketh not for the purposes of God but for selfish reasons.
  • Nkosinathi Ngulube on Luke 11:46 - 11 years ago
Dear Elaine, these lwayers were Scribes, the scribblers of Law and they added tradition and human doctrine to it which made life more miserable for the followers of Law but they themselves did not practised what they preached. So such are those that in any position of authority, it might be a parent, a pastor, a husband etcetera looking out for the benefit of their own interests yet they would never accept the conditions if tables were turned.Jesus was teaching us all through these teachings how to have inner purity, To love others as we love ourselves, for that reason alone He died for us all, without a lack of mercy for the haters, the sceptics, the antiChrist, the selfish etc.
  • Nkosinathi Ngulube on Luke 11:37 - 11 years ago
This is a perfect example of what a true christian should be, not to segregate but to reach out to all people and share the wisdom of God with them . However it is not possible without the light, otherwise their darkness envelopes you.

Verily l say unto thee, there hath no greater gift that surpasses the gift of the Holy Spirit.

As a father we always should want the best for our children. The things they may ask for thier minds may not be developed for some of Gods blessings. For example, would you give large sums of money to a son that has a drug addiction? That would be more harmful to him than prayer and treatment. God supplies all our needs as needed. We must also be thankful for grace and mercy because he does not give what we deserved at times. Thank God

It is quite pertinent to note here that prayer is so essential in the life of a christian. The disciple that made the move understood the importance of effective prayer. Hence, he did not hesitate to ask the quintessence of good communication with God Our Lord Jesus Christ to "teach him to pray ".

What i have to say about this verse - Luke 11: 4 is that , whoever wants God's forgiveness ,must be ready to forgive others .

Love, Luke Chapter 11, Verse 9... I first heard this from my Grandparents, and Aunt Katie (Grandfathers Sister), when I was a child... It filled me with delight, that Jesus would honor my requests, through prayer, hard work & solice... Happy that today, this still rings true... God Bless Us All!

Jesus is starting to show his anger and frustration. He knows his event is closer and wants the people to understand the truth.

  • Sigmund Ivarsson on Luke 11 - 12 years ago
Ask and you shall receive is easy to understand if you understand that God is seated in your heart, the kingdom is inside you and that God knows everything. You perish because of lack of knowledge and lack of understanding. Everything is so simple that we have no excuse. Even a little child can understand this. Jesus said about Samaritans and Romans that they had faith. This is because he also lives in heathens and unbelievers. I have seen Christians that have very little faith and no understanding. There is no excuse especially if you have been studying scriptures and have been praying. Pray the kingdom come and God will hear it without making excuses. When Jesus was saying oh ye of little faith he was talking not only to believers but his own disciples.

As any owner of a house or a palice will want to keep his property safe from anything or anybody, wich means he will do his utmost to arm himself accordingly... THE DEVIL got nothing and therefor he had to get hold of somebody he can own and he will provide protection by doing all wrong things with the body he posseses...
  • Collin Goliath on Luke 11:22 - 12 years ago
i want to say that when the strong owner of the house is now thinking that he is the strongest then it shows that there is a stronger then he,reason being that he was overpowered and in this case when someone think that he is bigger and stronger then GOD,then GOD disarmed him, for GOD is the STRONGEST.... HE KNOWS WHAT IS IN OUR MINDS BEFORE WE EVEN THINKS...

Luke chapter 11 is very plain and clear. The Our Father prayer is read out loud and discussed in each of my prayer studies every second Saturday, it is so essential to know how to pray and what to pray for. There was one disciple asked Jesus to teach us how to pray after watching Jesus and seeing great results.

  • Albtrue on Matthew 7:6 - 13 years ago
Everything must be said or done according to its perspective. In Matthew 7, Give not that which is Holy [the Gospel, tithes, God’s time for evangelizing, etc..] unto the dogs; judge not that you be not judged, etc… Meaning don’t be a fool. Don’t give that which God has Blessed you with to false prophets, or gentiles, or those that refuse the gospel. Yet how would you know that they are false prophets. You will know them by the fruits they bear [the things they do]. Neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet and turn again and rend you. But how will you know that they are swine. By sincerely praying to God for and receiving the Holy Spirit [ Luke 11:13].This does not say, we shouldn’t evangelize, not pay tithes, etc..; because we should. Yet after we have done that which we are commanded to do and find out they are “false prophets; refusers of the gospel, etc…”, then we are to go and give that which is Holy to those who will or have accepted the Gospel, and practice the word of God. There is more to the interpretation of Matthew 7:6, and the whole chapter 7, but I believe the general concept [ideal] is there.

What does the word "armed" specifically mean according to the original text?
  • Helen on Luke 11 - 13 years ago
I have been reading some comments about Luke 11 here and have one thing to say. These bible words are pretty plain and we need to read them and put them to work. Not dream up some weird allegories which are confusing. The key of knowledge is obtained by fearing God and doing the works he has given for us to do.
