Insight; the Law given through Moses was right from the mouth of God; NOTHING of his own thoughts! It was for the blood that the woman was unclean in giving birth; and for bringing to remembrance the redemption sacrifice of Christ for all who are born of women, that this purification was required. The Lord Jesus Christ Himself is without sin; yet He subjected Himself to fulfill all righteousness.

Insight; Have you not read, or perhaps forgotten, that the Covenant God made with Abraham, He established for all the son's of the Covenant for ever? and shouldn't He also who made the Covenant, when He came in flesh, Himself be subject to His own oath? Why did Jesus go to John to be baptized? Because "Thus it becomes us to fulfill all righteousness." Circumcision is a sign in the flesh, of faith.

V22, the days were accomplished, 8 days passed, but it does not actually say Jesus was circumcised. The purpose of the birth of Jesus is to remove false religion to establish the true religion. Jesus never circumcised anyone or teach it. Woman, Mary, is not un-pure after giving birth. NO Blood sacrifice needed. Male babies are not holy and female babies unholy. Both are holy because God gave life.

These verses might help you Luke 2:5 ".. being great with child; Matt. 2:1-2 ".. Jesus was born in Bethlehem.... there came wise men from the east to worship Him" All these are physical actions. On the other hand in Jh 3:3 Jesus told Nicodemus "...Expect a man be born again....." by that Jesus meant spiritual birth that is from above which we receive from the Holy Spirit when we believe in

Luke 2:21 "And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb." He that made the Covenant of Circumcision with Abraham, was Himself circumcised; according to the Covenant, and the Law: a sign in His flesh for the Man of God walking after the Spirit. The man who was healed was a Jew.

It's wonderful to know Jesus so joyful!

    V. 46 - proves that there are no 'loner' Christians. Jesus Himself gave us this example ( Heb. 10:25) at the age of 12. And verifying scriptures are: Matt.12:9; 13:54; Mk.1:21, 29; Lk.4:38; 6:6; Jn.6:59; 12:42; and on and on. Rom. 10:14 - How can they hear without a preacher; 1 Tim. 4:14 - a Preacher (pastor) has hands laid on him by Holy Ghost filled men for God's spirit to 'ordain' him.

Luke 2: Although Joseph and Mary were in Galilee, their first-born Jesus was prophesied to be born in Bethlehem, several miles away. God made it happen through Augustus' decree on taxation. God's words are yeah and amen. No jot goes unfulfilled. This chapter reports the birth of our Our Lord and Saviour Jesus and His early days. God made man. Praise God on high.

Jeremiah10:2 tells me not to follow the way of the heathen, sound doctrine, how could this verse harden my heart, Lorin? Luke 2:34 is God telling Mary and Joseph that Jesus will be a "sign that will be spoken against." You accuse me wrongly, I speak against the holiday that is based on pagan not bliblical truth, I do not speak against His Son our Lord. I don't see any math in Luke 1 and 2.
  • Lorin on Genesis 1 - 9 years ago
    lu2677,
The entire book of Leviticus relates to Jesus Christ. THEREFORE Leviticus 23 the Laws of the Lord are all pertaining to the Messiah. Jesus Christ is the Messiah.Do not let Jermiah 10:2 harden your heart. Nor let Luke 2:34 take hold and we speak against the sign. The gentiles have a hard time accepting that Jesus Christ is for both ,but clearly in this verse and 35 show that their hearts

Bruce, Verse of the day .You have dicovered that the 8th day of purification, the day of Cicumcision, and the 8th day as written in the law of the Lord all correspond..Simeon story Luke 2:25-35.Jesus is both if you are struggling. So question what day was he born on.What was the moon phase of the day of his birth. All according to the Law of Lord. Verse 32 explains the both part.If this is acceptab

To make God, in His magnificent Glory, His Beauty Of Holiness, His Perfect Majesty, the fact that He's our - SAVIOR!! He was spit on, scourged, given stripes (lashes) for our HEALING, nailed, NAILED to a cross!! - to put Him in a place of - just a man, that would 'talk back to His parents' - isn't right at all ................
  • Kevin on Luke 2 - 9 years ago
The only son, I think, that could talk back to His parents and not be disciplined. Luke 2:49.

The shepherds were very frightened and in awe, suddenly there was a multitude of angels saying,Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace, good will toward men. And when the shepherds saw, they were overflowing with joy and told everybody! We to will tell everybody, when The Spirit is born in us. Called: John 6:44, forgiving: 1John1:9/will be Baptized: Matthew 3:11/made new: 2Corinthians 5:17

Vs. 8-12; every time I read these - I hear Linus; I am 74, but as with most adults I watched it with my kids. That scene with Linus will always be special to me. It was the only time 'religion' was allowed in a child's show.

"And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child. And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds." There has never been a problem with news and information getting out among the people, and all Israel knew what was reported about Jesus coming into the world. We too have been told all things by God.

"And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord." God in His great love and very good purposes has always had in His heart to save man, and to undo what the devil and sin has done to destroy us. Oh that all His works would praise Him!

To O. Bakre - I like the way you grouped the names together under one subject. Makes researching them easy. The Lord blessed you with that idea.

"And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb. And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord As it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord And to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons." Luke 2:21-24 8 days old according to God Almighty, 8 days.

Luke surely was a man of great knowledge because he know how the people would react to unusual events and that word would be spread very rapidly which would ignite the explosion necessary for God plan to be implemented.

Imagine to have been one of those shepherds who got to witness a multitude of angels and then be able to go and see the newborn Jesus! I would like to have been one of those shepherds above anyone else in history!
Notice the shepherds were there at the manger but the wise men from the East were not. They followed the star and met Jesus as a young child.
