    This chapter of the bible in the new testament amazes me a lot about our Lord coming in the synagogue and reads prophet Isaiah 61 It is recorded in Luke 4 v 20 And he closed the book and he gave it again to the minister and sat down And the eyes of all them that were in the synagogue were fastened on him

    May I comment on verses 1-14.
    Interestingly YAHSHUA who is commonly called Jesus has demonstrated to us the need to be empowered by the Holy Spirit. He did not begin his ministry without being first fortified. Immediately after he was set aside through the immersion by John and was pronounced by YAHWEH the Almighty as His Son, he went to be empowered through fasting.
    Satan challenge was strategic and still is today. He did not tempt YAHSHUA with all lies, surely YAHSHUA could change stone into bread; if he had fallen the angels could bear him up; note this: the kingdoms of this world truly belong to satan therefore he had the authority to offer them.
    However, satan’s motive was for YAHSHUA to obey him. He touched at three vulnerable aspects of man
    i) appetite - strong desire to satisfy hunger
    ii) ego – the obsession with “I;” self-importance; “ if I throw me down which is different from if I had fallen.
    iii) power – man’s craving for control.
    Today satan strategy remains the same, he tempts man with “half-truths and half lies” offerings to satisfy our appetites, ego and desire for power; with the goal of having man obey him. Only with the Spirit of YAHWEH the Almighty Father through YAHSHUA the Messiah do we have the overcoming power

    These are those who were "SENT" to preach the gospel, "How beautiful are the feet of "THEM" that PREACH the GOSPEL of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!" ( Romans 10:15). Jesus Christ was SENT because HE preached the gospel ( Mark 1:15). Apostles and Disciples were SENT because they were ordained by our Lord Jesus Christ to preach the gospel to "EVERY CREATURE" ( Mark 16:15). Before I Lord Jesus Christ were taken up to heaven HE ordained "ALL NATIONS" to OBSERVE ALL THINGS HE COMMANDED ( Matthew 28:19-20). THEREFORE, The "SPIRIT OF THE LORD" SENT JESUS CHRIST TO PREACH THE GOSPEL ( Luke 4:18) and then JESUS CHRIST SENT APOSTLES AND DISCIPLES, AND ALL NATIONS TO PREACH THE GOSPEL. SO, If you heard the gospel from WHOEVER that BAPTIZED you in the NAME of the FATHER, AND OF THE SON, AND OF THE HOLY GHOST, then you MUST OBSERVE ALL THINGS whatsoever Jesus commanded, and that INCLUDES preaching the gospel to EVERY CREATURE in ALL NATIONS. Then, you are SENT.

    'To heal the broken hearted....set at liberty, them that are bruised. I went to a church , the first seven years, not one friend. He heals thee broken hearted. I prayed outloud at a prayer meeting, it came out like a song. I was rebuked by my pastor and worship leader. He heals the broken hearted. I backslid after i lost 3 friends in one year, no one sought me. He heals the broken hearted. I connected with some members of my old church through Fb. Gave them a warm brushup on how I've been. I asked about them. No response.i went to this church for 15 or more years. He heals the broken hearted. I love you ,Jesus ,and give you my life. Use as You will. You are mine And I am Yours. Bring a holy oneness with all believers in Christ. Teach us to love. Amen.

    To Ock:...that is a very BRILLIANT question... The AUTHORITY to SENT someone to PREACH the GOSPEL is in this wise:...from "GOD" who sent Jesus Christ ( John 17:8) with the "Spirit of the Lord" who anointed him to PREACH the GOSPEL to the poor( Luke 4:18-21)...THEN...from "our Lord Jesus Christ" who sent his disciples to PREACH the GOSPEL to "every creature" ( Mark 16:15)...THEN...from "apostles" who were commanded by our Lord Jesus Christ to teach "all nations" to observe ALL THINGS whatsoever he (Jesus) have commanded them (apostles) ( Matthew 28:19-20)...THEN...if YOU "heard the PREACHING of the GOSPEL" from "ANY CREATURE in ANY NATION" and "you believed it" and "you were baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost"...THEN...YOU are also being SENT to PREACH the GOSPEL...and has the authority to SENT those "who believed and were baptized" to PREACH the GOSPEL to every creature in all nations...and that is Romans 10:15 all about...

    He Transforms Himself into an Angel of Light; His deception also comes about because of his ability to be transformed into an angel of light. This is one of the major ways in which Christians shall be deceived in the last days. The Bible says there is a strong delusion that is coming with false signs and wonders being done by Satan's own ministers. 2 Corinthians 11:14-15, And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works.
    He Purposes to Stumble Us and Lay Snares In our Paths. Psalms 140:4-5 Keep me, O LORD, from the hands of the wicked; Preserve me from violent men, who have purposed to make my steps stumble. The proud have hidden a snare for me, and cords; they have spread a net by the wayside; they have set traps for me. Selah He waits for those vulnerable times in our lives when we are most susceptible to temptation and then springs the trap. This was exactly how he worked in the life of Jesus. Luke 4:13 Now when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time. Our victory over this Satan in this area is to continually keep our eyes on Jesus, because when our eyes are on Jesus, He will steer us around the traps and help us to strengthen those areas of vulnerability. He will be our guard.

    I do believe Jesus Himself speaks of the lake of fire in Revelation several times. But no one is cast in there until his return and they are given another chance to accept Him as Lord and saviour. And follow the true Ten Commandments not the catholic version that replaced Sunday for Saturday. Those who believe Jesus nailed the commandments to the cross are deceived. The ceremonial and sacrificial laws were nailed to the cross but not the Moral law. That is why he said If you love me keep my commandments, I have kept my father’s commandments and many will worship Me in vain teaching doctrines of men for commandments. I paraphrased a lot there but in Luke 6:46 he says why call me Lord and not do what I say. Nowhere in the bible is Sunday transferred as the Sabbath. Luke 4:4, He says we are to live by every word that comes out of the mouth of God. The bible is God’s word. Circumcision is well documented on its absolution. So why not Sunday taking over from Saturday? Because it hasn't, in John 10:35, Jesus says the scripture cannot be broken. Daniel 7:25 tells us the beast will change ties and laws and wear out the saints. The Dark Age period Christians keeping the 7th day as Jesus did, were killed for 1260 years. The Catholic Church passed the law to do it and they did. Research canon Law XX1X.

    What strikes or hits me is that, this word is real! Do what it say, and watch God do what he says! Verse 30, for example, they would none of my counsel, they despised all my reproofs. But do this and listen to God’s word, then watch your owns ways change. But you have to do this with your heart! Because this is what God looks at, and takes seriously. Verse 31, therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own wickedness! Verse 23, thus saith God, turn you at my reproof (counsel)! Behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you! Do this, and see God really lead you and guide you and tell you more than what the people go to church or worship building know. Because you are his people and he is your God through Jesus Christ! If your heart troubles you, God is greater than our heart and knows all things, but there is no man, stepping up then goes back, such an one is not fit for the kingdom of God ( Luke 9:62)! Or if any man draws back, God's soul have no more pleasure in him ( Hebrews 10:38). I know people think we should try to live the bible as best we can, but God said, man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds or comes forth out of the mouth of God ( Deuteronomy 8:3, Mark 4:4, Matthew 4:4, Luke 4:4). God is not playing with us when he came through Jesus Christ! God is with us for truth and righteousness, and to heal and raise us from the dead. Because his enemies are real, God through Jesus Christ also is real! But there are more of the enemy then of the truth or spirit of God! Because the enemy deceives us with the fancy, glittery things, and the things that are pleasing to the eyes, to trick us, and this he does well, but for destruction and hell! God sent his son servant here to deliver us from the fallen spirits, and to raise us up with truth and healing and strength. But many despise God’s wisdom, and rather believe the or a lie ( Romans 1:23), but while we stop and believe the lie, God keeps moving and leaves us behind, and says; unless you repent, you shall likewise perish ( Luke 13:3). My name is David Brown I'm living true witness, because Jesus Christ made me so, and to expose the lie and lay the truth, even if no-one wants to hear it!

    this verse for me proves that the interpretation of acts 20:7 justifying sunday worship is going against scripture. acts 20:7 does not command rest on sunday say sunday is hallowed to be remembered and kept holy. to go against scripture goes against God and Jesus. John 10 35 Jesus says scripture cant be broken. v20 he says I and my father are 1. John 15:10 He says I kept My fathers commandments. Luke 6:46 He says why call me Lord and not do what I say? Luke 4:16 says He went into the synagogue in Nazareth to read as was His custom. Today as then each sabbath they read from the Torah in every synagogue around the world. gentiles that are saved and truly repentant are spiritual israelites. we are adopted into Christs faith. we should obey the Word of that faith. Not what we think scripture says. Luke 4.4 man must live not by bread alone but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. No scripture commands the first day to be observed or to stop observing Gods 7 holy feasts.The 7th day and 7 feasts that number is Gods number of perfection. he has a plan for the end times for Jesus to fulfill through the weekly and annual sabbaths. We need to observe them as god commanded and jesus did if we are to be right with God.

    @Chuck,
    1. The term holy ghost and holy spirit are interchangeable in the scriptures ( Luke 3:22; Luke 4:1);
    2. This is one reason why people who have had bodily limbs removed still feel as if their limbs are still with them after removal of a limb;
    3. The holy ghost goes to heaven after a person is deceased for a born again believer, and the unholy ghost for an unbeliever goes to hell ( Luke 16:22, 23).

    The whore of Babylon is the Catholic Church. Her daughters are the churches that left the Catholic Church but kept many of its pagan rituals it adopted. Sunday worship Easter, Christmas to name the most recognized. The bible proves the real day Jesus died, the month he was born, and day he rose. It isn't Good Friday, Sunday or December. And nowhere in the Bible is Sunday hallowed and commanded to be kept holy and rested on. These are the traditions of man and Jesus warns us about them in Mark 7:6-9 and 13. And the fourth commandment is the commandment he says is forsaken. Even Martin Luther who was taught as a catholic but called them the whore of Babylon. He even recognized the true Sabbath but didn't want to go through the hassle of changing the status quo. Not surprising seeing as the Catholics were killing Christians that kept the true Sabbath. They did this for 1260 years. This period is known as the dark ages. For anyone that wants to see the proof, there are articles with biblical scripture backed with secular history and archeological proofs. Jesus and Paul warned of the false teachers and christs. The Bereans read the Old Testament scriptures to prove what Paul was teaching in the synagogues on the Sabbath. Because there was no New Testament then. The Bible says that He was "without sin" ( Hebrews 4:15). And "sin IS the transgression of the law" ( 1 John 3:4, KJV). So we know that Jesus never transgressed God's law-including the fourth commandment about keeping the Sabbath holy. If Jesus had broken the Sabbath, He would have earned the wages of sin-death ( Romans 6:23), and could not have become our Savior. It is clear, then, that Jesus never broke even the least of God's commandments, nor taught men to do so. On the contrary, He said, "I have KEPT My Father's commandments" ( John 15:10). Furthermore, at the very beginning of His ministry, Jesus set the standard for what would be His lifelong example: "So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His CUSTOM was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read" ( Luke 4:16). Again, in Luke 13:10, we read, "Now He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath." The Law of Moses to this day is read in the synagogues. So don't fall for the deception it was nailed to the cross. The reason Jesus called the Pharisees sons of Satan they had added over 60 laws to the Sabbath day not ordered by God. These laws were nailed to the cross along with ceremonial laws like circumcision mentioned in acts.. That is the leaven Jesus tells us not to listen to. Acts 15:20, We should instead write a letter, instructing them to abstain from four things: first, things associated with idol worship; second, sexual immorality; third, food killed by strangling; and fourth, blood. Verse 21, My reason for these four exceptions is that in every city there are Jewish communities where, for generations, the laws of Moses have been proclaimed; and on every Sabbath, Moses is read in synagogues everywhere. Again the Sabbath is expected to be kept by the gentiles to hear the laws of Moses. So the apostles don't think the law was nailed to the cross.

    I think that the original story could have a Roman-Greek influence since Zeus was placed in the Synagogue and Yehudah at one time was made to worship Zeus. Solar worship plays prominent in their worship probably from a Zoroastrian influence where science and astronomy were intertwined in religious beliefs.

    Luke 4:18 - The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the broken-hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised. Jesus was sent to heal the broken-hearted. Man's heart broke away from God when tempted by the serpent. Man is born broken-hearted. Jesus was sent to heal the broken-hearted. Man's heart broke in the Garden of eden, his heart can be healed by Jesus Christ.

    @Susan,
    On Satan;
    1. I do not believe a born again Christian can be possessed by the devil or a devil the scriptures do not support that;
    2. The devil very rarely messes with anyone unless they are chosen of God for a high spiritual position;
    3. The devil or his principalities can have an influence on a Christian from very little to much depend on their closeness to Christ;
    4. This is why we as Christians need to be doing those things which God has commanded us to do;
    5. Read the King James Bible Authorized Version, belong and participate in a solid bible church, be in prayer, separate yourself from the people, things, and anything that keeps us from putting God first in our lives ( 1 Corinthians 6:14-18; Isaiah 59:1,2);
    6. Place ourselves under the blood of Jesus Christ;
    7. Read James 4:3-8 submit yourselves therefore to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you (verse 7). We submit ourselves unto God by doing those things which he has commanded us to do and those things that please him according to his holy word. Do not fret about where the devils go, that is God’s business.
