God and his Word are two seperate things as he was not carnal like you and I. He used words to create things. Jesus said in Luke 8:11 the word is a seed. God the Father of Jesus spoke words and Mary got pregnant. God created things in the beginning by speaking words. The world was created by speaking words. Jesus spoke words which are spirit and life John 6:63. Jesus never spike his own words.
WendallBriggs: A person goes to neither Heaven or hell when they die, the Bible clearly tells what death is in Ecclesiastes 9:5, Psalms 6:5, Luke 8:52-56, John 5:28-29, there are more just look. In Genesis 3:4 Satan told the woman Eve Ye shall not surly die, Satan started the lie that a person lives when they die and is the father of all lies. The 2nd coming of Jesus there will be a resurrection
11 Now the parable is this; The SEED is the WORD of GOD. (sowing is a as mention above is a very old method of planting seeds; in this case though many seeds are sown by the sower into the heart of us, many of the some seed will not never produce because the heart was so hard or cluttered with earthly junk).
And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.
48 And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace
She had faith acted on it and was healed. But she felt afraid, our flesh feels unworthy.
Steve Morrow and all; What kind of nature or disposition does the Spirit descend upon and stay, a Lamb, or a Tiger? Do you think that the Scriptures or for our salvation and comfort, but not also for light to expose and correction, in order for us to really and truly overcome all the tests and tribulations of life? Judge righteous judgment, and cease this envying and bitterness; or He will depart.
Women, "which ministered unto him of their substance." vss 2-3. We see then, how Jesus received assistance from some of his disciples...Question: How did the apostolic team, the disciples and others who traveled about with Jesus, get their sustenance? And too, did the 12 'professionals' receive weekly paychecks? That is just one of the questions we usually never get around to asking...
In vs 39, Jesus likens the child's state of death as, "sleeping", a phrase we will hear him use again. James 2:26 tells us that without the spirit, the body is dead. Jesus says ( John 6:63) "The spirit gives life".
And in Luke 8:55, we find the act of Jesus' raising the girl, causes, "Her spirit to come again".
The spirit, returning to the little girl, brought life back into her body...
"Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved." The natural man knows not the Holy Spirit in any of his understanding. If he hears the Word of God, the devil is able to quickly take it away because he is most natural thinking like the devil, and his heathen pride can't let him soften his heart.
What does it mean, Salvation, and why should one sweat it? Some think it's easy as accepting Jesus in your heart. Would that it was as easy as holding hands in a circle and feigning ecstasy! But it is about your human experience on earth, altogether. It is about deriving from the Word what God intends. And changing dramatically, resisting sin, as God, the Father has taught since Adam and Eve.
"Therefore see ye how ye hear; for it shall be given to him that hath, and whoever hath not, also that that he weeneth (thinks, imagines, assumes wrongly) that he have, shall be taken away from him." Luke 8:18 (Wycliffe Bible) Whether it be the work of the devil, or one's neglect of working on himself, or misguided mingling with things of life; WE OURSELVES will account for how we act on the Word.
"..how great things God hath done unto thee.." (cont.) Peter and the other Apostles never went around talking about their past lives of sin and uncleanness; but they expounded the Scriptures by the wisdom and understanding God had given them through the Spirit and preached that men should repent. No one is going to get saved by listening to the catalog of a man's past sins, but by preaching Jesus!
"Return to thine own house, and shew how great things God hath done unto thee. And he went his way, and published throughout the whole city how great things Jesus had done unto him." On the subject of testifying to others "how great things God hath done" unto us; we have to speak of the things we KNOW, just like this man KNEW that Jesus had healed him! Everyone could see the evidence in his life!
Who gets transformed? Those who hear the word from the fertile ground of faith. What is faith? The turning away from the pleasures of this world for they are not blessings from God but devices of the Devil. Look how many devils entered into Legion: enoigh to drown a herd of swine! Who has faith to be healed? Those who humble themselves, not boasters, those self congradulators who lead us.
BSP; Good words! "He that sows the good seed is the Son of Man" the good seed is the word of God sown into our hearts. We must have a good and honest heart to receive the word right so that it will sprout and grow in us and come to maturity and bear good fruit unto God. We are known by our fruit; our fruit is to be in the image and likeness of God: that's how it is known that we are men! Gen. 1:26
Verse 45: Since Jesus had to ask who touched him, this indicates that Jehovah God saw the woman and he used the power that he had given Jesus to heal her.
We learned in verse 1 that Jesus "went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God". So, He did not miss out any city or village to avoid the excuse that they did not have the opportunity to hear the Word, see the miracles and see the Saviour in action. Today, we also have no excuse as the Word is now preached throughout the world.
This chapter seems to have a special devotion to how the Lord cares for women and girls. It opens with mentioning how "many" "ministered unto Him of their substance;" and then finishes with showing how that Jesus knows who is touching Him in Faith; and about WHO is all the joy and meaning in their parents' life, and that the Lord is not willing to take her away from them. We learn a lot by these!
"And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities . . which ministered unto him of their substance." There are many references to women in the early Church; and what they did, and how important they were. There were no women called to be Apostles; and it was understood as God's commandment, that they not teach, nor dominate over men. But they helped in many ways with honor!
Vs. 17 was recently applied to domestic violence, or marriage tyranny. These seem to be very private issues, and many times people try to hide these problems. However,t his brings comfort that Jehovah God is aware of all things, and will bring justice upon those who are evil to their marriage mates.
To Lou Charles - another way to view Jesus saying, :Tell no one" is - he knew they would - and His desire was for His people to be witnesses; reverse phsycology.
Jesus shows His deity in this chapter first He shows His power over the sea, then He shows His power over the spirits, then He shows His power over disease and sickness, then He shows His power over death.
