I love the whole chapter. All He wants us to do is have faith, know that he can do the impossible. This is a teaching of how to have faith. Trust in the Lord, and don't lean to your own understanding.

Lou Charles, the reason Jesus would tell people that is he attempted to control his fame in order to minimize the effects of the enemies of the gospel or his work of salvation on planet earth. Glory be to God in the highest through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen!

I love from verse 43 the woman with the issue of blood, and the way she got healed, a lot of us give up,but she did not give up she pressed through the crowd and the result was her healing, thank God..so we ought to press through and never give up for God was able then and certainly he is able now,.....

The reason Jesus took Peter, James, and John was because they were the faith men. Jesus could have no doubt and unbelief during the healing because it could impede the miracle.
  • Donald iwen on Luke 8:51 - 11 years ago
why was it always peter, james and john that JESUE took with him?
  • Gordon on Matthew 8:28 - 11 years ago
I would like to know why in Mathews gospel,he mentions two men, and in Mark 5:2 and Luke 8:27, they mention only one man that was possessed. Every commentary I have read so far only speculates why this is. The event that took place is consistent, but the number of men is inconsistent. There has to be a reason for this, with facts to back it up, not someone speculating what could have happened. Could someone tell me where I could find this information or if you know the answer, please tell me and could you tell me where you found your information.

When we cast out demons they should be cast into the abyss, bottomless pit...never to return again. God will deal with them in the end.

Joanna must have been very much overwhelm with what Jesus had done to her or for her. We do not know what she might have suffering from but she was probably delivered such that she was humbled by the miracle. Her husband knew how much she had suffered and how much that had affected his emotions and state of mind. As a result he allowed her to commit to Jesus and serve Him.

I was wondering why the NIV states "those along the path" while all the others say "by the wayside" or something like that? I think that it is referring to those BY THE WAYSIDE that hear, yet the devil comes and takes it from their hearts to prevent them from believing and being saved. While the NIV makes it sound as if those ON THE PATH are the ones who hear and the devil comes and takes away the word from their hearts so that they may not believe and be/remain saved. That is two different descriptions. The ones who believe (on the path) and the ones (by the wayside) that are hearing the word to begin to believe. It is confusing. To me it sounds as if the NIV is talking about the believers who are on "the path of righteousness" and not those who hear but are "on the wayside" of which the devil comes and takes the word from their heart to prevent them from believing and becoming/being saved. This is just one of the reasons that I have been confused by the NIV. I would also like to add that Jesus Christ is the only BEGOTTEN son of God. In the NIV it reads that he is the one and only son of God but Adam is also referred to as a son of God in Luke 3:38. Christians are referred to as "sons of God".

lUKE EXPESLAINS THAT MANY OF US EXCEPT CHRIST RIGHT A WAY AFTER HEARING THE WORD BUT REVERT BACK TO THE THINGS AND THINKING OF THE WORLD ONCE WE ARE PRESSED WITH TRIALS IN OUR LIVES.hAVING TRUE FAITH IN GOD WE CAN DO ANYTHING. HE TELLS US IN ROMANS THAT ALL THINGS WORK TOGATHER TO THEM THAT BELIEVE ACCORDING TO HIS PURPOSE.
  • John Armstrong on Luke 8:14 - 12 years ago
Here Jesus is saying to us that we allow the things of this world to become more important to then our life in Him. To many distractions to many worldly interests, to many of our fleshly desires have priority over our lives then building our relationship with God. Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all these things shall be added unto us. If God is first then the things we so often strive to achieve God allows us to be rewarded only if our Trust and Faith is in Him.
