34 Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. 35 For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. 36 And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.... Wow! Wow! Wow! God's word is being fulfilled before our eyes.

Verse 29: Not even one sparrow could fall to the ground without Jehovah God knowing about it. We are worth more than sparrow so if God cares for these little creatures, how much more does he care about us?!

Monayah; My question was about whether this particular Simon was actually from Cana of Galilee, as the Greek word may suggest; and not mistakenly called a Canaanite. In the Strong's, like you pointed out, kananites means zealous in Greek; or if its simply a transliteration of the Hebrew name, meaning someone from Cana. My point is simply that I doubt if one of the Apostles was a Canaanite.

Jesus was sent to the children of Israel because God so loved Israel, and sought to save them. The Light shines upon men's innermost self and exposes the evil, in order for us to bring these things to judgment and be reconciled to God. But not everyone has an interest or need for these good things that Jesus brings; and so what was intended to be the blessing of reconciliation becomes contention.

For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law. And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. Variance is described as, the fact or state of being in disagreement: dissension, dispute. This is what the LORD meant in Leviticus 20:26, saying, that He had severed us from other people to be His.

10/34, I am not come to send peace but a sword. Anybody literate in the bible knows that a sword is the word, which is truth! Now, truth is a rare commodity in these times, and knowing the Word is truth. In Rev, a two edged sword protrudes from Jesus' mouth, for it cuts both ways, destroying lies and establishing the truth, and the truth is from the Holy Spirit. That is the truth spoken inred

Verse 14: If others do not accept the message of the Kingdom that is their choice. If we have done our part in trying to share it with them, we can have a clean conscience and leave the rest in God's hands.

4 Simon the Zealot and Judas Iscariot. Judas is the one who turned against Jesus. Kananaios: Cananaean, Aramaic for Zealot, surname of one of the twelve apostles
    Original Word: Κανανίτης,

Matthew; Why then the mis-spelling? Canaan should then have been written, Kana-aniy(te) which would mean someone of Kana-an not cana-niy(te), or as in the Greek, Kananiy(te). Thanks for taking up this question with me! The rest of my questions about the unlikelihood of Simon being a stranger, esp. a Canaanite, has to be considered in light of the separateness that every Jew was obliged to observe.

    **to: A DISCIPLE**
Κανανίτης is the Greek word in question which means Canaanite. No error here. That is all. Blessings and good tidings to all. Please remember this, “once saved always saved" is false doctrine. If that makes your conscience stir and angry then it is probably for good reason. Doctrine of devil will always provoke anger when light shines on it. Be well, be strong, be not deceived.

"And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved." Matthew 10:22 Coinciding with the transgressors coming to the full, and their casting away all the cords and breaking all the bands, in their furious rage and worthless imagination against the LORD and against His Anointed when they no longer are able to bear with the sound doctrine of Christ's Truth the only thing left for them, to deal with being disrespected and rejected by God is to turn all their forces toward taking away the righteous FROM AMONG THEM, WHO ARE GOOD AND ACCEPTED OF GOD. Everything in us which wants to scream with anger over their wicked perversion and injustice, and NO JUDGMENT must be held in patient endurance and self control even as God has patient endurance and self control and so in our patience we will overcome and gain our souls' salvation IN JESUS' MIGHTY NAME!

Simon the "Canaanite" seems to be a mistake in the KJV translation; since ALL the Apostles were Israelites, and were strictly brought up to keep separate from non Jews. Plus, more importantly; in the Greek it seems to indicate rather that this Simon was "from Cana" and not a Palestinian Canaanite! Read about all the explaining Peter had to when he was called to go preach to the house of Cornelius.

Verses 34 through 36- the Scriptural message is not to blame, but it is the rejection or opposition of unbelieving family members that causes the rifts or divisions.

If a person strives for his life in the world, he will find that the world does not offer "the life", and will lose it. But if he gives up searching the world for his life for the sake of Jesus Christ, he will find 'the life". Because The Life is in Jesus Christ.

To:A Disciple, I agree with Emanuel Fernandes. There is nothing wrong with watching sports as long as it does not keep you from God. If you are watching when you should be at church, THAT'S WHEN YOU SHOULD FEEL ASHAMED. By the way "A DISCIPLE" are you a Catholic or what?
  • A disciple on Matthew 10 - 8 years ago
Emanuel; To ME, it is sin to be a Sports Fan. If someone else can sit with a good conscience toward God, while being barraged by the worldliness and flesh and utterly spirit-draining idle chatter... I have to say I doubt it! I used to enjoy sports as a kid, and am content to leave it with my childhood in the past. I have determined to sanctify myself to the Lord Jesus Christ and the Narrow Way.
  • A disciple on Matthew 10 - 8 years ago
Emanuel; what is there to defend? I just think very strongly that we should not not let ourselves be drawn into the same idle interests as those of the world who don't know any better. "Little children, keep yourselves from idols." The Lord has called us and sanctified us to be His witnesses, to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world, that the Holy Spirit in us should convict men.

I wrote another post, about the topic of whether God cares about the Super Bowl, but it wasn't put up. I know, and we all know, that there are MULTITUDES of Christians who have no problem with watching sports and enjoying recreation and leisure activities. But when is it too much, and ungodly, and something unbecoming of a Saint? As Christians we are NOT OF THE WORLD, and must be separate from it!
  • Emanuel Fernandes on Matthew 10 - 8 years ago
who cares if a sparrow dies and hits the ground who cares about the numbers of hair that I have on my head. GOD CARES THATS WHO!. ALL THINGS ARE CREATED BY HIM AND FOR HIM. The homeless person on the street and the preacher in the pulpit BOTH ARE BEING USED OF GOD WHETHER THEY KNOW IT OR NOT THERE BOTH FULLING GODS COUNSEL! We need to study to show thyself approved unto God
  • Emanuel Fernandes on Matthew 10 - 8 years ago
Its not sin to watch sports most carnal Christians would think it is. Im under liberty not grace the lost are under grace. As long as Im not under the power of worshipping it.Besides you missed the point READ not skim my comment. If you think God is not involved or care who wins IN ANY SPORT you dont know God he worketh ALL THINGS into his counsel NOTHING IS INSIGNIFICANT to God
  • A disciple on Matthew 10 - 8 years ago
Emanuel (cont.); I have seen it everywhere that there is not even a wince of conscience among most Christians about following sports. Why doesn't it seem to bother any of them about the permeating ungodliness and easy uncleanness that surrounds that whole business; but they sit there stupidly watching, and carry on their empty talk with neighbors and coworkers, as if it is some neutral area?
  • Emanuel Fernandes on Matthew 10 - 8 years ago
theres nothing insignificant to God a sparrow doesn't hit the ground without the Father knowing this. He worketh ALL things after the counsel of his OWN will. so yes he cares about who will win this years super bowl he permits or causes everything that occurs in his creation. ALL THINGS ARE CREATED BY HIM AND FOR HIM!!!
  • A disciple on Matthew 10 - 8 years ago
"But the very hairs of your head are all numbered." There are many things the Lord wants to say to us, but we cannot bear them. A big reason for this not being able to bear them, is in the corrupted view of God in the human's darkened heathen mind and a heart alienated from and hostile to God being God! Why would Jesus have to say that our heavenly Father doesn't give us a scorpion when we ask for an egg, if it wasn't because of the heathen thinking with which we are accustomed to think that if there IS a God He has some sinister design against us. And even from the pulpit we constantly hear this same kind of slander against God sugar-coated with religious sounding talk about why we endure suffering, trials and temptations. Any man who invents or builds something, has to have the understanding in order to perfect his ideas. Why then do men think that God doesn't know or doesn't care about the very smallest parts of our existence? I am convinced that this is what it means to know the Lord, and Him knowing us, that shall be the grounds for God letting us enter into His kingdom when this time is finished.
