We must trust and believe in God s word, that he can do anything in his will. If we pray scriptures then we are praying according to his will. It is up to us to pray and believe in Him. But we must remember it is God who does the work .he always has reasons for what he does. We may not understand, but he is responsible for the answers, not us. We are just responsible for lifting the matter to the Lord's ears. We must TRUST Him to do what is best.

You have to read all 4 gospels (the Harmony) and the book of Acts to find these things out.

Read the center column references beside the verses for extra information.

You'll find that (Judas) Iscariot was written in a prophesy from Psalms. Jesus knew Judas would betray Him, upfront.

Some things you can google and find out how Jesus added each disciple into "the twelve". How they died, etc.

This verse summarizes the ideas in the previous verse in general terms. Paul frequently summarized in Romans , and often these summaries refer to the results of the action in view, as here (cf. Romans 4:25; Romans 5:21; Romans 6:23; Romans 7:25).Belief in Jesus Christ in one"s heart results in acceptance by God (i.e, imputed righteousness, justification, and positional sanctification). Testimony to one"s belief in Jesus Christ normally follows and normally is verbal. Paul was describing the normal consequence of belief. Witmer wrote that the confession is to God. [Note: Witmer, p481.] One"s confession that Jesus is Lord would be to God initially (i.e, expressing trust in Christ to the Father), but most interpreters have believed that the confession in view goes beyond God and includes other people as well. This seems to be a reasonable conclusion since the confession is to be made with the mouth. In what sense does this confession result in salvation. Paul obviously did not mean that confession of Jesus Christ secures acceptance with God since he just said belief in the heart does that ( Romans 10:9; cf. ch4). Salvation is a broad term that includes many kinds of deliverance, as we have seen. What aspect of salvation does taking a public stand for Christ secure For one thing it saves the person making the confession from the potential discipline of God. [Note: See Dillow, pp122-24.] It also saves him or her from the loss of reward that those who are unwilling to identify themselves with Him will enjoy (cf. Matthew 10:32-33; 2 Timothy 2:12). Furthermore, it often results in the eternal salvation of other people who hear the confession of faith and then believe themselves.

    Dianne,

In Romans 9:13 it says "As it is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated."

Now that's a pretty serious statement to make.

The terms love and hate are what are called words of comparison. Obviously, love and hate, there is a comparison there, but the words themselves don't mean He loves them and He hates them, or He loves one more than the other. As a matter of fact, these words are found in the New Testament.

We think that was harsh but look at this. In Luke 14:26, it says "If any man come to me and hate not his father and mother, and wife and children, and brothers and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple."

Now that's pretty harsh! You have to hate your mother and your father, and wife and children, and brothers and sisters? Now I can probably pick a couple out of there that I'm glad He said that! But it makes it pretty hard. What do you have to do, go home and show your hate towards them? What's He trying to say?

The Greek word for hate, MISEO means to love less. It doesn't mean hostility. In fact, Jesus, in Matthew 10:37 says "He that loves father and mother more than me is not worthy of me, and he that loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me."

He's talking about comparisons. The comparison is that Jesus is saying you must love me so much that in comparison to everybody else, it looks like you hate them. I mean it's not even close. Jesus said there cannot be me and somebody else!

That helps explain in Exodus Chapter 20 where God says you shall have no other gods before me. Except in the Hebrew, it says you shall have no other gods except for me.

In other words, it's not putting God first, and then we have our other priorities. God says I'm your only priority. Wow! We have no obligation in the flesh. Our one and only obligation is to follow Christ.

    (more to follow:)

    Kags,

If the feet of the Messiah do not touch the earth at His return, how do you explain Zechariah 14:4?

"And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south."

Also, if the body of Christ is taken out before the Tribulation, then who are those that endure until the end? ( Mark 13:27, 1 Corinthians 15:52)

He that endureth to the END shall be saved ( Matthew 10:22)

So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just, ( Mark 13:49)

Are we not told that it "is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully" ( 1 Peter 2:19).

    Truth in the Scripture

John 7:37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If ANY man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.

Revelation 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And WHOSOEVER will, let him take the water of life freely.

Matthew 10:32 Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

John 15:6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

Thank you Onyekachukwu for your beautiful comment. It is very explanatory. Let me add that the serpent is a very sensitive creature. Though very harmful is wise enough to be able to survive in the most unfriendly habitat. I also think that Jesus Christ was telling us that in a world that is often at variance with the belief and doctrine of the church, we must apply great wisdom just like the serpent often does, to survive without conforming to the world. So when we go out there to fulfil the mandate of the master, chances are that some will definitely resist us. However wisdom demands that we leave quietly when rejected but dust our shoes out there as a witness that they have heard the gospel but rejected it.

    Dear Tim,

2 Corinthians 5:10 seems to say we will be judged for our sins.

And 1 John 1:6-10 says Christians sin, but we need to confess them and if we claim we don't sin then we accuse Jesus of being a liar and the word isn't in us.

So, because of these scriptures I believe we will be judged for our sins. We need to try hard to avoid sin. There's currently some fake news spreading around claiming that it's ok for Christians to sin and be of the world, but that info doesn't come from God. Matthew 10:28, Matthew 5:48, Hebrews 10:26.

    God bless...

Jesus said to turn the other cheek Matthew 5:39, but in my opinion that means to not seek vengeance or to retaliate to participate in endless quarrels or conflicts. We are called to be an example of love and called to forgive. That doesn't mean we should forsake our personal safety or safety of our family or loved ones. We also should protect ourselves and loved ones as our bodies are valuable holy temples and we need to be good stewards of our gifts, talents, and our ability to serve others. The Bible also talks about being on our guard, prepared, with the armor of God. Ephesians 6:10-18.

So, it's my opinion that we should take care of ourselves, including physically, like what we eat, exercise, hygiene, security, and personal safety. For safety there are lots of ways to protect oneself and ones property, like door alarms, security light sensors, cameras, pepper spray, dazzler lights, loud sirens, decoys, surprises, extra secure doors, windows, layers. I personally would do 100% of that before buying firearms, but that is my personal opinion. Even though we should protect ourselves we should not fear, but trust God. Matthew 10:28. May God bless you!

Dear one, my 1st instinct is to encourage you and also for you to encourage your daughter to know the same...God is on His throne. He is sovereign. NOTHING will happen to us, be it job loss, job gain, good health or sickness, anything, unless it is God's will. AND...if something is God's will, nothing will stop it from happening. I've grown to really understand that over the years and I tell you, knowing that has been such a huge weight lifted and such a tremendous source of comfort.

God wants us to have complete and unwavering faith & trust in Him. This is where we can find rest for our weary souls.

There is no rest to be found in the cares of this world, but take heart, for He has overcome the world. ( John 16:33 kjv)

We can also know that unlike what so many tv preachers keep trying to say, this life is filled with trials & tribulations. God's Word let's us know this life is filled with them, but it's from faith to faith that He makes us to stand.

In my own life, a constant reminder I also give myself is to know that things could always be worse. For example, the worst thing could be to be lost out there in this world without the knowledge of a loving & merciful God who has every awareness of all our troubles, for He has even numbered the hairs on our head ( Luke 12:7kjv)....and not even a sparrow falls to the ground without Him knowing ( Matthew 10:29 kjv).

What an incredible comfort that is! We face this world with God and His perfect plan...not for this life only, but for eternity!

As for the enemy of our souls...Jesus rebuked Satan, overcame the temptations while He was in the wilderness, by the Word of God.

(Matthew chapter 4 & Mark chapter 1 kjv)

    Hebrews 4:12 kjv

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

To shake off- so that something adhering shall fall: this is symbolic act a person expresses extreme contempt for another and refuses to have any further contact with him.

This is what happens when someone refuses the word of God. When a person refuses the word of God they are refusing God. (See John 1:1) If any man denies the Lord, he shall be denied. (see 2 Tim. 2:12)

Ed - I know we can not "lose" our salvation like you lose your car keys or a wallet.

However can we throw away our salvation?

Revelation 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

(Seems our names can be BLOTTED out of the book of life)

Exodus Chapter 32:31 And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold.

32 Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin--; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written.

33 And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.

Jesus in Matthew 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved. (Why would Jesus say we must endure to the end?)

Jesus in Matthew 10:33 But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

Revelation Chapter 14:9 And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive [his] mark in his forehead, or in his hand,

10 The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:

11 And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

12 Here is the patience of the saints: here [are] they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

I do not care what sinners prayer anyone says, if they take the mark I believe their are doomed.

Sadly Millions of Church goers do not believe they will ever have to make this choice to refuse it.

Someone sent this to me so I can not take credit. Sadly few seem to really understand the mission of the Church.

Persecution shall bring revival to the remnant church and separate the wheat from the tares or weeds.

Jesus promised us we would be hated:

Matthew 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

We are warned of Tribulation or Trouble in this world

Acts 14:22 Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.

Paul warned us of persecution in 2 Timothy 3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

    someone sent this to me:

"Everyone is always searching for the"One" sign/event that will trigger Christ's return, yet completely ignore the One thing that is the determining factor of when Christ returns.

It's not about what king or kingdom is doing that is the final event, It's what the Church is like, what the Church is doing.

Jesus is returning for a Bride that has Made Herself READY.....

    A Church Triumphant.

His return is not a rescue mission,

It is a completion of the task He appointed the Church to fulfill and until She does, He will NOT return.

He is coming for a Bride that has made herself ready to be received by her husband, Her gown washed white in His blood, without spot or wrinkle.

The Bride is still not ready, the Great exploits of the Church has not yet occurred because She is still too immature, too busy acting childish. When She matures, then we will see the sings and wonders take place that will bring about the greatest revival in human history. The Latter rain is to be greater then the Former Rain."

"First" We as ( Gentiles have to remember, The Jews are God's chosen people. The Gentiles have no part in God's covenant (Law) no matter what some try to say. Jesus had no earthly ministry with the gentiles. Read Matthew 10:5- what Jesus commanded his twelve disciples, not to go to the Gentiles Nation. However, after the Cross, shedding Jesus Christ blood for the whole world, NOT FOR JUST SOME: Jame's was a Jew, he was writing to his people. Remember all that is in the bible is not for us. It is there for our learning; Paul is our teacher for the Gentiles. Throw out Pau's scriptures there is nothing for the Gentiles Nation. For the Jews promises are earthly, Gentiles are spiritual. ALL believers in God's word are in the body of Christ, Jews, and Gentiles. God will finish up his covenant with the rest of his people, (Jews) in the millennium: But we all have to believe God's word to be saved, that is the only way and ask forgiveness, for our sins. Remember just because we are saved does not mean We are perfect here on earth.

God judged sin on The Cross of Jesus Christ. God is not judging sin today, IF He was, we would all be zapped every time we sin!

John 16:33 was Jesus talking TO ISRAEL. Not us. Israel was going to be scattered very soon at the stoning of Stephen.

Israel is the Bride. We are the Body Of Christ. Big Difference. Satan is the "god" of this world and he is having his way with man and religion!

Paul is the only one in The Word Of God, Romans through Philemon, that tells you what your doctrine is today for this Age of Grace and salvation by grace by believeing in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

One day, The Body of Christ will be taken, and then God is going to resume His prophetic program with Israel, and The Tribulation will culminate with the 2nd Coming Of Jesus Christ so ISRAEL will believe in THEIR Messiah, then The Millennial Reign of Jesus Christ on this earth; The Kingdom God promised to Abraham, then into eternity.

Read Paul's letters to find out that all our sins are forgiven, past present and future just by believing The Gospel 1 Cor 15:1-4 the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, all by grace through faith, no works, no law, just what Jesus Christ did for US!

Two different programs. Israel and The Body of Christ. Paul tells us in 2 Tim 2:15 . . . Rightly Dividing The Word Of Truth; that WAY you know what is for ISRAEL and what is for The Body Of Christ.

Remember Jesus came for the Lost Sheep of the House of Israel ( Matthew 10:6) Jesus was a minister of the circumcision ( Romans 15:8) Jesus came in the flesh for Israel ( Romans 9:5).

One day, God is going to gather ALL, BOTH Israel and The Body Of Christ, in ONE!

    Ephesians 1:10

That in the dispensation of the fulness of times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are in earth; even in him.
