I am not lecturing anyone specifically, ok? Most hindrances to Bible Study is NOT asking the Holy Spirit to HELP you to find your answers.
I'm old, lol. I study every day. If it's a disease, I have it. It's personally rewarding and captivates me to dig even deeper to get at some truth. You need Bibles with study reference columns in the center of each page; you need a concordance; you need skill at Googling: Commentaries, History, Teachings, Maps and Genealogy Charts. I use everything.
I watch very little TV. When it's quiet, I hear the leadings of the Holy Spirit much clearer. He is the most interesting Person I've ever known.
You have many good questions. You're being called to Joel 2:28-29, 1 Corinthians 12. Galatians 3:25-28. You're blessed so keep studying, but remember to encourage yourself in Jesus. Sit in the sun, listen to some praise music, contemplate the weather that God moves around (Job). Smile at one person.
In the 4 Gospels, 4 men, different occupations came to listen to Jesus. Jesus invited them to follow him. There's a prophesy in Psalms about Judas; who would betray Jesus. Mary Magdalene and other women who cooked & washed robes, etc, followed Jesus. Paul who was never married , had women that helped with various things. Thats where Googling skills come into play. Read a historians comments too.
Jesus was a story teller which is something I love too. You have to know a story to tell it to the unsaved. My friends, we are ALL called to do the work of an evangelist. Some call it gift of gab, but I call it sharing a story, in the power of the Holy Spirit that brings the message of Christ to a heart ready to be planted by Gods Word. Plant, Water or reap harvest. ( Matthew 10:27)

Their are people like Herodias who have this same power even today, who while in the background can do things that most kings would never consider, even behead, those like John the Baptist! The problem of course ,was even though Herodias had relieved herself of Guilt, after eliminating John, that would actually be the beginning of what God had planned for them all along, the downfall of Herod and all his cronies!
When the gov't, takes an innocent man and beheads him, word gets out fast! People will turn against those that have no desire for the truth. Wise people cannot be controlled. Wise people ,live in the light ,not in darkness. Control of the masses is easy when you take the word of God away! This would be Herod's eventual end. The truth may seem untouchable at times, but eventually you will not be able to deny it. The spirit of truth will not be denied. We would be blessed as a nation if there were more John the Baptist. This pandemic could be the end of many churches, could mean religion's disappearing. With the evolution of technology, be assured that they will endeavor to silence the words of Jesus Christ! The church does not use the kjv ,because it is the truth!

And Gills version: he was sorry for it, made confession of it; it was to the wounding and grief of his soul, which does not agree with the wicked race of Cain: the words may be rendered: "though I have slain a man, that is nothing to you, you are not accountable for it, nor have anything to fear coming upon you by reason of that; it is to my own wounding, damage, and hurt, if to any, and not to you [the murder of Abel should be avenged on them, this being the 7th generation in which it was to be avenged, Genesis 4:15]
Mishaels Opinion: I think TubalCain was "accidentally" killed. I first thought there was fist fight until I read this. All of the descendants of Cain died before the Flood.
The story of Cain is told by the Arabs he lived among, and by Jewish Historians. Hopefully these commentaries will end that discussion.

The wicked shall be silent in darkness - They who used to open their mouths wide in speaking against heaven and against the saints, shall be so confounded with the unexpected disappointment of all their hopes, and with God's glorious appearance and operations for his people, that they shall be put to silence, and have their mouths quite stopped: and this in darkness, both internal, in their own minds, not knowing what to do or say; and external, through outward troubles, distress, and calamities.
3. For by strength shall no man prevail - Namely, against God, or against his saints, as the wicked are ready to think they shall do, because of their great power, wealth, and numbers."
As well, there was instances of idolatry associated with the Ephod ( Judges 8:27, 17:5,6), as it was considered so holy as to be worshipped. Even today, in some 'high Churches', priests can be seen wearing distinctive outer clothing, with sashes & mitre resembling the priests of old. These are not the garments depicted in the New Testament as should be worn by Christians & are a poor reflection & understanding of biblical norms, rather serving to ascribe some sort of special privilege & holiness to the wearer.
Today, for the Christian, we might say that we come before God "in robes of righteousness", not of ourselves, but that given to us by virtue of Christ's death & what it accomplished for us. And being so clothed, we can come confidently before God as His children & in prayer. We are now His chosen generation & royal priesthood ( 1 Peter 2:9).
And besides, is it even possible that everything be written about biblical people, places & events? Just of Jesus' Life, we read in John 21:25, "And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written." How our hearts & minds yearn to know more about our Lord & Saviour, yet that earnest waiting & expectation can only grow in us as we await that great day when faith becomes sight & we behold the One Whom we love, but Who first loved us by giving us of Himself completely. The spirit of Word tells me that as we long to see Him & be with Him, is also Jesus' longing for His blood-bought bride to be at His Side throughout eternity. Let's not focus on what we might be missing out from the Word's 'limited history' revealed to us, but to delight in what God has chosen to show us now for our benefit, that also instils excitement of what is to come later, both in knowledge & experience.

Although Eli had no power to change the hearts of his sons, he could have prevented their ministry before the Lord, but he "restrained them not." He wanted to be kind to them but it was a false and mistaken kindness. A seasonable correction would have saved them from ruin. Eli had no need to be harsh and severe, only firm and decided in the matter of obedience. Eli was twice warned that judgment would overtake him and his sons, but such warning was lost upon him. He dearly loved his sons and could not take action against them.
What a pitiable spectacle Eli presents! An old man of ninety, almost blind, waited to hear the result of the grim battle between the Israelites and the Philistines. How he trembled for his nation, his sons and also for the Ark of God which would be dishonored if it fell into enemy hands! Then the messenger came with news of the slaughter of his sinful sons and of the taking of the Ark. As Eli heard mention of the latter he fell off his seat by the side of a gate and died of a broken neck, yes, and of a broken heart! As is often the case, "children bring down their father's gray hairs with sorrow to the grave." ( Genesis 42:38)
Eli ['l]-jehovah is high or my god. The high priest and judge of Israel of the family of Ithamar ( 1 Sam. 1-4; 14:3).
The Man Who Lacked Parental Authority
There are few Bible men in whose character we cannot find some great and glaring fault. There is usually a dead fly in the ointment, a rent in the garment, a spot on the whitest sheet. Eli was a good man whose life was pure. He loved and delighted in God's service, but was faulty in one point. He failed to exercise the proper authority of a parent over his children.
Eli belonged to the tribe of Levi, and for years acted as a judge and as High Priest in Israel. He lived at Shiloh in a dwelling adjoining the Temple for the greater portion of his life. We know little about him until he was well advanced in age. The first mention of him is when Hannah came to pour out her heart.
Eli's fault which brought sorrow upon his declining years was the conduct of his own two sons, Phinehas and Hophni, who, although lacking their father's character and qualities, were yet put into the priest's office. Their conduct disgraced their high calling and shocked the people so much that they "abhorred the offering of the Lord." While Eli warned them of their shameful ways, he did not rebuke them with the severity their evil deeds merited. He should have exercised the stern authority of a father and rebuked them as a judge. Instead Eli only mildly reasoned with his sons saying: "Why do ye such things?"
