    "And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour." Ephesians 5:2.

    I put some meat in a crockpot the other night to cook while I slept. As the hours went on, the aroma of the meat cooking filled the room. It smelled so good. I thought of the animal whose life was sacrificed so that I could eat its meat. The thought that the animal's life was sacrificed tasted of death - that, I did not find savour in that. Yet, the aroma of the meat was very savory to me in every way.

    I thought of the sacrifices that God required of Israel; and, how the aroma of the sacrifices must have pleased God.

    I thought of all the stench of death that God must smell from all the sins and perversions man is continually doing here on earth. And, yet, I thought of the one savour that brings pleasure to God. The one burnt offering. The one perfect offering. Jesus. There is no other savour, but, the savour of Jesus Christ that pleases, satisfies, placates God. Man may seek to offer up other incenses, and burn sacrifices with strange fire, but, there is only one smell that pleases God. Jesus, the perfect sacrifice, offered up once for all, is the continual sweet smelling savour pleasing unto God. We, too, are a sweet smelling savour unto God because of Christ in us. There is no other savour, but, the savour of Jesus Christ that pleases God.

    1 For what is Jesus the savior of ? Does the Bible say it is the Bible?

    2 Who is the teacher of all the wisdom of GOD? Does the Bible say it is the Bible?
    Ephesians 3:10 " To me, the very least of all the holy ones, this grace was given, to preach to the Gentiles the inscrutable riches of Christ, so that the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known through the "CHURCH" to the principalities and authorities in the heavens".
    3 For what did Christ give Himself up? Does the Bible say it is the Bible?
    Ephesians 5:25. "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ loved the "CHURCH" and handed himself over for her

    For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church.
    I think the question here is which Church?
    This question was answered by Saint Ignatius of Antioch in 109 AD
    "there let the people be; as wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church.

    it is important for us as followers of Christ to not do the things of the world, things which we once were so use to doing, but now that we walk with Christ Jesus, our ways must change, even in our relationships as well, respecting our spouse as God intended for us to do so, as one, walking with Christ is not easy, for if it were, we would say to our selves that we don't need God, that we got this, but we do need God in our lives today and ever day, for we need His guides, His strength, His peace, and His love to help us over come our struggles, our hardship times and all our situation that we may be going through.
    God is love, and as we love on one another, we show God's love through us.
    Here in Ephesians 5, God's word help me in my marriage, as I took God's word to heart it helped heal and mend my marriage. I give God all glory and all praise and thanks for being in my life and in my marriage. though I still need work in many areas of my life, yes I fall but it's the getting back up that counts, shaking off the old things and being willing to embraces a new way of living, a life with Jesus in it.

    Verses 15-16 are translated in another version as, "So be careful how you live, not as fools but as those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity for doing good in these evil days." Let me explain.

    These are good works inspired in us by the Holy Spirit. That is, we do them because Christ lives in us, and the Holy Spirit inspires us to please him. But these "good works" do not remove the sins that we have already committed, or the ones we will commit in the future. The death of Jesus pay's our sin debt. That is, his blood flows like a fountain and washed our sins away. So what what is the purpose of our good works?

    Sin is like a sea of quicksand. The more we try on our own to pull ourselves out the deeper we sink. But Jesus comes along and says "I am God and I have come to save you." He, then, pulls us out and saves our life. And because of this we are so greatful for being spared we say to Jesus, "Thank you for saving me. Yes, thank you Lord." And I promise that from now own I will always please you in everything I do and say so I won't fall in again. The Holy Spirit inspires us in this. This is the purpose of our good works. They show that we want to pleade God.

    Thank you for reading.

    18 "And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit" Be filled with the New Wine of the Spirit. Not Just a one time experience. The Bible tells us that there is Joy and Peace in the Holy Spirit. The word wine here in the Hebrew means the sweetest and the strongest. So in other words be filled with the sweetest and the strongest peace and Joy.

    99.9% of women nowadays see the subject of submission as conditional. If the man does this I will do that, not the kind of sarah's submission to Abraham.

    to redeem the time means avoid wasting time on unnecessary things and use the time to do things that will edify your christian life and the life of others to glorify the name of God our father.Moreover the days are really evil and if we as christian dont identify our priorities as far as the kingdom of god is concern, the enemy will easily still our time and our hearts base on the things we watch and listen to on TV and Radio. Our arch enemy knows the time is so short and is doing all to redeem the time but we children of God waste our precious time on useless tv shows instead of reading our bible or praying and before you know it u are in the camp of the enemy.

    i believe redeeming the time is setting the kingdom of God as the first priority in our life
    and following the order of putting God first , then family and then others .This will allow us to fulfil His will in our lives and that we will not be dragged by the world and our own agenda

    The bible nowhere states that red wine in moderation is ok, on the contrary there are many instances where the bible says not to drink at all, zilch, nada, zero. And the cons vs pros for red wine are like how far the east is from the west. The text speaks in Ephesians 5:18-20, Proverbs 23: 29-35, Proverbs 31:6 and many more verses...

    Ephesians 5:22.it means that women should submit to the love from their husbands.Jesus Christ loved the church by dieing and ressurrecting that we may have life and then the church submits by recieving Jesus in our lives as our savior and moving in his ways.marrying more than one wife means a man has no love fo the first woman.

    This scripture has been used by "some men" to force their wives into polygamy...Wives & husbands who were married under the vows of "forsaking all others".Wives should submit unto their husbands but husbands should not deceive or defraud their wives by using this scripture to demand that their wife submit unto polygamy

    God's word is immeasureably perfect. Study it, hide it in you heart. Live it. You can't go wrong. Where we go wrong as humans is that we allow Satan to speak to us and we listen! We need to cast him down anytime he tries to put lies and deceit in our minds and heart. God is good all the time.

    "He will take you out of the bird’s net, and keep you safe from wasting disease" This means God Almighty will take away all the diseases from my body, this is confirmed more in the New Testament; where Ephesians 5:30 tells us "…we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones". This means that the life of Christ is manifested through our bodies. Christ literally lives in you! He dwells in your spirit and expresses Himself through your physical body. He’s alive in you. This is why sickness, disease, and weakness ought not come into, let alone thrive in your physical body. You’re the habitation of Christ, and the Bible says if Christ is in you, no infirmity can ravage your body, because the Spirit that lives in you vitalizes your physical body ( Romans 8:10-11). "Amen" in my Life, and everyone else who confesses that Jesus Christ is lord and Savior of our souls.

    Love your wife as yourself. You are one flesh in the eyes of Jehovah God. A marriage is much stronger under Jehovah God, for it is a three cord, which cannot be easily torn apart. Because Jehovah is part of it. Unlike the married couples that don’t put Jehovah first.

    The apostle Paul commands us to be not drunk with wine, in which is excess; but to be filled with the Spirit; Ephesians 5:18. The church has been slowing down his prayer life, let’s pray God to revive his Church in our generation ( Habakkuk 3:2).

    When it is about the unbelieving husbands, we are not going to submit our spiritual belief to them. A believing wife will take her place as a spiritual leader in the family. When it comes to submission as wife in practical living, there are many criteria you can submit. But you still have the right to bring out your ideas to your husband because I believe the believing wife has imparted God's wisdom in practical living too. Important thing is you are peacefully going by it.

    Adultery has devastating effects on EVERYONE!!! If men would rise up and LOVE THEIR WIVES like we are commanded in Ephesians 5:25 then we would end divorce on this planet!!!

    But alas, this world is filled with selfish and cowardly men! Until mean PRACTICE Ephesians 5:25 then divorce will be an epidemic. If you don't know how or what it means...check out 1 John 3:16, John 3:16.

    But you are too selfish to put your wife above your own needs.

    Psalms 119:105 says: Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Which should remind us to read and study his word daily, that we many keep his light bright within us. For if we don't study and read daily then we leave ourselves open to uncleanness. So this reminder that Paul gave us in Ephesians 5 reminds me that; just to read this is not enough, but that I need to study it and memorize it in order to keep God's lamp with me wherever I go.

    This particular scripture is saying to me, now that GOD has delivered me from darkness into HIS marvelous Light; that I have been brought into the knowing. Therefore my living shall not be in vain. In all I do I should please HIM. Remembering the fruits of the spirit and walk in the line of the Spirit of the LORD.

    Some say that this verse means that it's a shame to have to speak of those things done in darkness. But I think that the meaning of the text is that it is shameful to speak of those things done in darkness. In other words, when people give a testimony, they should be careful to glorify their Savior, not their sin.

    In the context of the issue we face today, Ephesians 5:22-33, is positive proof that God NEVER intended for marriage to mean anything other than one man and one woman (Ephecians5:33). Anyone who thinks otherwise would be well counseled to read the whole of Ephesians 5. Praise be to God, for He is all and pure love.

    @Brother,
    On verse 18,
    1. I agree with what Timothy had to say in response to Brother on his marriage situation, but there is more Timothy should be doing beside praying;
    2. It is difficult giving relationship advice without being able to sit down and talk with both parties involved;
    3. God always has solutions to every situation, but they are usually not so simple because of our sinful nature and after we have made decisions without proper biblical counseling with God and the man of God with the holy scriptures at the foundation of our decisions;
    4. Are you and your wife both saved?
    5. Do you both attend and participate in a good bible believing church?
    6. Are you doing those things that God commands us to do that put us in a right relationship and good standing with him?
    7. Although our mates have a large influence on our lives and how we are able to serve God, but our mates should not have that much influence on us that it holds us back from our spiritual growth and fellowship with God ( 1 Corinthians 7 and Ephesians 5:21-33);
    8. We as Christians should never allow anyone to have such a strong hold on us to keep us from doing right and being diligent in seeking him. ( 1 Corinthians 7:29 and Hebrews 11:6);
    9. The better our relationship, fellowship, and obedience to God's holy word the better position we place ourselves in having God answering our prayers and working in our favor;
    10. We have a much better opportunity in winning others to our side (God’s side) when we love God verbally, but also when we especially love God with our actions;
    11. People always tend to watch our actions over our speech ( James 1:22-25);
    12. I do not know what kind of a relationship Peter had with his wife, but it apparently did not stop him from doing what God wanted him to do!

    In reference to verse 20; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. After prayerful thought, I see this as a statement of how we should think of GOD, lest we forget He is GOD, our Father AND also our LORD and Saviour Jesus Christ, a true statement of His Holy unity. As we read, from the Old Testament, we have GOD state that we have only have One Saviour, the LORD from Isaiah 43 who is revealed to us in the form of Jesus Christ in the New Testament as our Saviour. As a result, GOD is truly our Father, our Saviour, whom we can have a relationship with because of the perfect sacrifice offered by the grace of Love from the Father, GOD, through our LORD, Jesus Christ revealed to us with the gift of Understanding, a fruit of the presence of the Holy Spirit dwelling within us. Amen.

    I'm confused by the separate reference "to God and to the Father", accepting ever since... that God and the Father are the same…
