V27, Stephen visited and fed the Jewish fatherless and widows that were neglected by the Jews. Pure in heart, with kindness and charity, Stephen was not only helping Christians but also those in need under the dominance of other religions. Jewish religion and Christianity are not the same religion.

Verse 13: God doesn't tempt man is very clear, test yes, but tempt no. Neither does the devil make man do sin, our own desires of the flesh are what lead a person down the road to destruction, verse 14. Faith is more than saying, I believe so I am saved. It takes a deep conviction that is strong enough to change conduct befitting God and saying no to temptation of our own bodies to sin, obedience

    11 Sam 2: 4-5
4 And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in unto him, and he lay with her; for she was purified from her uncleanness:

5 And the woman conceived, and sent and told David, and said, I am with child.

    James 1:13
15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.

James 1:21"receive with meekness the engrafted word which is able to save your souls. The "engrafted word", is all 66 books of Holy Writ. The"engrafted word" is not what some teach that there are only certain parts that pertain to salvation. I think they call it "fundamentals, and essentials doctrine" Be not deceived.

Verses 2 to 4 shows that when we successfully cope with trials it makes our faith stronger and we develop positive qualities.

To me this verse shows us how to be humble, and obedient, in honoring God with sincerity, doing what God's word says do, not seeking the attention of man. Obedience.

"MasterProhet" God does not lie. As believers we should think on these verses also. Titus 1:2 God cannot lie. Heb. 6:18 It is impossible for God to lie, he is immutable (unchanging) James 1:17 No shadow of turning. This is because he is HOLY, HOLY, HOLY REV 4:8. His promises are faithful and true. We serve a truly awesome God. I love reading all the different comments.

Peggy, in accordance with Irene, 1 James 1:5-6, states we are to ask wisdom of God, where we lack, and He will not refuse us nor make fun of our lack of understanding. I have done this at times I did not understand, and He gave me the answers. Not always right away, but we are to insist and persist. He Loves Us!

Bruce, though the same Greek word for temptation is used it is spoken of in 2 contexts. The first is one in which you "fall into". This is meant to try the faith and produce enduring obedience and faithfulness to God as we experience His grace more and more.
The second refers to being tempted with that which God cannot be, evil. This comes from within and is inherent in our flesh see Romans 7.

Dave:Persecution is hostility or ill-treatment especially because of race or political or religious beliefs. Temptatian: a desire to do something especially something wrong or unwise. Let's get to the "Heart" of the matter.V:14. Temptation comes from within. ( Temptation is not persecution.) John 6:44,1John1:9,you will be Matthew 3:11. You will know! 2Corinthians 5:17. Impossible not to know.

Temptation is not sin, giving in to it is. We must recognize it for what it is and act accordingly

Temptation comes from within- we are drawn away, (from the provision of God) when we seek to obtain in our own strength. Lusting is not the temptation to break the Law; Leaving the provision/ power of God and attempting to obtain in our own strength, i.e., Sin. The provision by God is called Faith, all that is not of Faith is Sin, period. Follow "Faith" through the scriptures for confirmation.

Temptation is not persecution! Temptation comes from within:V-15.
Persecution comes from outside Matthew5:10-12,V-11Blessed are ye, when men Shall revile you and persecute you and say all manner of evil against you falsely---.We are Salt and the only Light the world will see Matthew5:13-16.

Count it all joy . . . Every temptation is persecution from the adversary. Satan's goal is to bury the word in the confusion of living. However rejoicing in temptation allow us to remember the word to perform it in the temptation.

I think verses 12 -15gives a clear explanation about how we fall into temptations. When we leave our fist Love and steer away from the Lord ,the devil is allowed to temped us and the lust of the flesh is weak and we fall and separate ourself from our lord. Spiritually we have a hard time getting back to the Lord because of the consequences of our actions. There is a hope though repenance .

James 1:22 but be ye doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 2:18-- show me thy faith without thy works and I will show thee my faith by my works. Let's reach the lost while its still day. Romans 13:12.

For God made not death: neither hath he pleasure in the destruction of the living. For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.

Comment* James 1:19 The verse does not demand silence, but rather it encourages caution, teaching the continous discipline of the tongue. Speaking is to be economical, using few words and appropriate. Talebearing is to be strictly avoided because it wounds and tears down. Nothing is as effective in building a relationship as is speaking and hearing to one another

God is love above all things. His love for us is unconditional and so we must just hold on to his love, and share his love amongst ourselves and above all to the unsaved
