And I realize that you have seen a lot of evidences of 'Christians doing whatever they like after being saved'. Clearly, this is not the Gospel & if that was preached to them, then the preacher will be held to account also. That's what we call, 'easy believism', when ultimately there is a mental assent without any real meaningful spiritual conviction & change. And this is difficult for another person to detect, as that type of 'Christian' can appear very Christian even mimicking the 'real deal'. The Scripture teaches & has always been the yearning of the apostles' hearts, that the readers of their epistles be warned of sin's damaging effects ( Romans 6:1-17) that any teaching or human belief that allows for sin & righteousness to cohabit together, is not of God & not what they were taught. And let's face it, we Christians do need regular reminders to stay on the path that leads to Heaven & not entertain sin that disrupts our holy relationship with the Godhead which could lead to painful discipline.
I apologize for the length of this response brother, but felt it necessary to lay out my belief, so you may know my understanding of the biblical Christian, that he is always in subjection to the Spirit's Word & Work, & his life both now & till the end, will bear testimony of the reality of that salvation experience he claims to have had.
Rejecting Jesus is the unpardonable sin
Luke 12:9
But he that denieth me before men shall be denied before the angels of God.
Speaking out against God isn't unpardonable, denying him is.
Luke 12:10
And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.
And if you are in Christ Jesus, you are not condemned to anything.
Romans 8:1
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
If you confess your sins to him, he will forgive you.
1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
And if by any chance you're scared God might take your wife or kids away, remember these:
Matthew 19:6
Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.
James 1:17
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
Just confess your sins and ask for forgiveness and don't worry about them any more; God will forget them.
Psalm 103:11-12
For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is his mercy toward them that fear him. [12] As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.
But don't use that as an excuse to continue in sin..
God will chastise you.
Romans 6:1-2
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? [2] God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Hebrews 12:6
For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth.
If you are ever tempted to sin again, read 1 Corinthians 10:13
Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast.
And you are saved the moment you believe Jesus died for your sins.
Romans 10:9-10
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. [10] For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
What James 2 is talking about is that saving faith produces good works. If you get saved, but there is no change in your life, you're not saved.
2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
James 2:17
Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
Once saved always saved is true. If one of Jesus's sheep goes astray, he will go after it.
Matthew 18:12
How think ye? if a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray?
Romans 8:38-39
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, [39] Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Of course we are not free to sin
Romans 6:1-2
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? [2] God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
if you continue in the sin and you don't repent or care, then it's willful sin.
But if you do repent
1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
But for any here who will continue to maintain that our understanding is incorrect, I would then explain vv 4-6 in this way: the Hebrews writer is sharing an 'impossible' scenario. "It is impossible" because of the 'impossibility' to re-crucify Jesus again (& maybe, again & again), putting the whole blessed, final work of God for our salvation into a disgraceful mess & shame. And since that is an impossibility (that a true believer who has received the goodness of Heaven) to again shame the Lord, the Hebrews writer quickly expresses, "But (I) am "persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation" (verse 9).
So why should he write this in the first place? For the very purpose of this letter: to show to these believers who were largely saved from judaistic legalism & error, that Jesus Christ & the merits of His Cross cannot be lightly regarded, even as seen by His exemplary Character (as written right throughout Hebrews): Him being far superior to any prophet, the angels, even Moses, by His Priesthood & by the Power of Faith, Hope & Love He gave to us. So, if some say that these are saved people in vv 4-6, then the writer is saying that such a situation cannot arise, since an apostate would have to re-crucify Christ to be saved again - which thing IS an impossibility ( Romans 6:10). And the RC belief in the Eucharist & Transubstantiation are related here.
So your word is correct Jesse: these were not believers spoken about because such a scenario cannot happen, rather the writer was persuaded that the believers' faith was genuine & strong.
My heart aches with you at this time. I am so sorry that you have lost the love of your life.
God promises to comfort and help you, if you know Christ Jesus as your Lord and Savior and he always keeps his promises.
*Nothing or no one can separate you from His love ( Romans 31:39).
He is the God of all comfort ( 2 Corinthians 1:3-4).
He heals the brokenhearted ( Psalm 147:3).
He promises to help you & uphold you by his mighty power ( Isaiah 41:10, 13).
His help is present & abundantly available and He will never leave nor abandon you ( Psalm 46:1; Hebrews 13:5-6).
He gives extra strength when we are weary ( Isaiah 40:26-31).
May you trust in Him and rely upon his promises.
Love in Christ,
Mrs. Curley Manning
Salvation Scriptures:
there is none righteous, no not one ( Romans 3:10).
all have sinned and fall short of God's glory ( Romans 3:23).
the wages of sin is death, but God's gift is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. ( Romans 6:23).
whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved ( Romans 10:13).
Romans 3:24-25 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are PAST, through the forbearance of God;
Romans 6:1-2 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
God Bless.
"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." This verse is self explanatory!! Repent, be baptized in Jesus name for the REMISSION OF YOUR SINS and you (everybody) will receive the Holy Ghost. So why does most of the Christian world ignore Acts 2:38? This is the instructions to obtain salvation. The Church began on that day, the day of Pentecost.THE NEW TESTAMENT CHURCH began on that day in Acts, which is the only church Jesus died and bled for! Most of the Christian world seems to admit repentance is necessary for salvation. But they seem to believe baptism is ONLY symbolic and has no real impact on salvation. Yes baptism is symbolic, just as Jesus is the symbolic sacrificial lamb who was slain on Calvary for our sins!! Paul explains the importance of baptism in Romans chapter 6. Baptism is necessary for salvation.
Romans 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him (Jesus) by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk--- in newness of life. What is that
"newness of life"? Its remission of sins! When our sins are remitted, they are gone and forgiven. But their our sins are only remitted if baptism is done in Jesus name after repentance. And Paul explains why baptism is necessary in Romans 6.
Romans 6:1-2 (KJV) What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Acts 2:37-38 KJV., what Israel(Jews) must do. Acts 10:44:48 KJV., the Holy Spirit(Ghost) given to the Gentiles(Greeks). In verse. 8, Peter commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord(Jesus Christ). Jews and Gentiles were baptized by water in the name of the Lord(Jesus Christ). Acts 15:5-9 KJV., question at issue(Gentiles being circumcised). In Verse 7 Peter is speaking Gentiles should hear the word of the gospel and believe. In Acts 2 Peter used the keys(Jesus gave him the keys in Matthew 16:19 KJV.) first for the Jews, and in Acts 10 second, in the house of Cornelius for the Gentiles)(but Paul was distinctively(plainly) the apostle of the Gentiles, Gal. 2:7,8).
Paul speaking( 1Corinthians 15:1-10). Not only being filled with the Holy Ghost, Saul/Paul was baptized with water in the name of the Lord(Jesus Christ).
Saul's/Paul's Conversion: Acts 9:17-19 KJV; Paul's Defense before the multitude: recounts his conversion. Acts 22:11-16; Paul's defense before Agrippa. Acts 26:9-18. In verse. 18, that they may receive forgiveness of sins( Romans 3:23)
1 Corinthians 3:5-8 KJV: 5. Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man? 6. I(Paul) have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase(Holy Ghost) 7. So then neither is he that planteth anything, neither he that watereth, but God that giveth the increase(Holy Ghost). 8. Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labor.
1 Timothy 1:1 KJV Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the commandment of God our Saviour, and Lord Jesus Christ, which is our hope. Think about this, what is the father's name on a Birth Certificate? What name is the child born into physically? See 1John5:1-20
KJV., being baptized in the name of (Jesus Christ): The Foundation
You said Jesus put an end to (destroy) living by the law, but Jesus anticipated someone thinking this so he said Matthew 5:17-18 that he didn't come to destroy the law.
He also said to obey His commandments: John 14:15. So, one can conclude that if you don't obey His commandments then you don't love Jesus. If you don't love or follow Jesus, that person probably isn't a Christian (a Christ follower by definition).
For instance, if one thinks it's ok to go out and kill someone, Jesus says no, you can't do that. Romans 6:1-2, Hebrews 10:26.
God bless...
What is our spirit? Some use the Bible verse Ecclesiastes 12:7 to support the belief of going to heaven when we die. Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it. God gave us breath like in Genesis; God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life.
Without spirit, the body is dead. Psalm 104:29 Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled: thou takest away their breath, they die, and return to their dust. James 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. Therefore, in the Bible, the word ruach is translated not only as "spirit" but also as "force," or life-force, breath is life.
Think of when you go in or out of a room you flip the light switch and the light goes on or off, the electricity is the spirit of the light bulb and without it the bulb is dead. There is also the Spirit we worship God, is it also similar to the electricity that turns on the light bulb?
Yes, it flows like electricity but it carries comfort, guidance, truth, love, it regenerates and renews and assists believers in prayer. Spirit, is the same word as breath, but what flows through this Holy Spirit is not air or electricity. It is an invisible channel and a door, we communicate to and from God in the name of Jesus, a dwelling place (mansion) in us, Jesus restored with his death on the cross.
God bless, Ron
What does He mean,""" if we believe in Him"" ,,,and what does He mean""even tho we die,,,?? Many try to seperate"the person from the body here and say that only the body dies and the person is immortal,,even tho Jesus just said that """ (you)will live,,,""" even tho ""( you)""( will die"), is that contradictive to what He says in John 8:51, if anyone keeps my word, He will not see death,He will live forever ,,or in the passage just prior to when He says"" I am the resurrection and the life, the one that believes in me will live,,EVEN THO YOU DIE"" and the one that lives believing in me will not see death, nor ever die,
To twist a declaration of man being immortal in any sense by standing on these words is self serving to that person's doctrinal belief and not according to these passages,
The revealing understanding that the person is spoken of in the same state as the very one that dies being the very one that never dies is a clear reference to what happens to us in death, and those believing in him are resurrected to eternal life and in that state never die or see death ,,So,,,,,even tho we die,,,,(the person) not just a person's body as some declare allowing for a immortal soul conceptual belief,,but the person of ,, and once resurrected back to life,, will live eternally
This is proven by His resurrection to life being a bodily resurrection
The same body he died in now glorified and renewed free from any disease etc The spear in the side was of great significance, it allowed them to see that He was mortal as His brothern bleeding blood as they will, for theyhad to witness this lest any man believe ,
Verse 15 tells us that the sting of death is sin. It is because of man's sin that everyone will physically die. Romans 6:23 tells us that the wages of sin is death. That death was not only physical death, but eternal separation from God. It finishes out by saying "but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
So now instead of death (eternal separation from God), through the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ, we can now have eternal life through Jesus Christ. But if Christ did not rise from the grave, neither would we, and we would still be lost in our sins.
1 John 2:2 says "And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world."
Propitiation means satisfaction. But it is also the word for mercy seat in the Old Testament in the tabernacle area.
The bible tells us that Jesus died for the sins of the whole world, everybody's sins. But its application and its effectiveness are only for those who receive Him. When the whole world stands before Christ, the only thing they will answer for is how they responded to Christ. That's it! And some will die in their sins because they have rejected Christ.
So all who receive Christ will live with Him for eternity (Eternal life). Those who reject Him will die in their sins and will be separated from Him throughout eternity.
Hopefully, this makes more sense?
Romans 6:1. Is continuing from ch 5 where Paul explains how the law slew us because we were Kinsman of Adam,
And those who "TRULY" accepted Christ has been baptized into Christ has been baptized into his death and given power over the "DOMINION" of sin.
Romans 6:1-2 (KJV) What shall we say then? Shall we "CONTINUE IN SIN", that grace may abound?
God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, "LIVE ANY LONGER THEREIN"?
Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
I've highlighted key phrases such as Dominion, Continue in sin, Live any longer therein. and other places you will words like "practice"
These words and phrases suggest a person born again want CONTINUE living in sin, but it doesn't say they will ever be able to live a sinless life.
Paul elaborates on this in Romans 7.
Also see John here:
1 John 1:6-10 (KJV) If we say that we have fellowship with him, and ""WALK"" in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the BLOOD of Jesus Christ his Son CLEANSETH us from all sin.
VS 8: IF WE SAY THAT WE HAVE ( NO SIN) WE DECEIVE OURSELVES, AND THE TRUTH IS NOT IN US.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
VS 10: IF WE SAY THAT WE HAVE (NOTSINNED) WE MAKE HIM A LIAR, AND HIS WORD IS NOT IN US.
I hope that helps.
For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Galatians 3:27-29 KJV
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
Romans 6:1-5 KJV
In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
Colossians 2:11-14 KJV
Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
1 Peter 3:20-21 kjv
We don't follow God's law to save us, we practice GODS law because we are saved, see the difference?
Your faith in the word (yeshua is the word in the flesh) is what justifies you.
Death is a judgement of God.
Romans 6:23 The wages of sin is death.......
I agree.
Romans 6:4-5. Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

I Believe God gives the Holyspirit spirit when we are truly converted which is an act of his doing upon our trust and believe in the work of Christ on the cross.
That same Spirit convicts us of sin,
As we feed on the word "with faith" that same Spirit moves us different than the way we were before. It's not simply a change of mind, "IT'S A CHANGED HEART".
This is called fruit in your life that wasn't there before.
John 15:8. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye ""BEAR"" much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
NOTICE: YOU BEAR THE FRUIT YOU DON'T PRODUCE IT.
We do that by being connected to the true vine. JESUS.
John 15:1-4. I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
These verses emphasize "Virtue" by being connected!! A New Heart, The now inner Man.
Here's what's produced by the Vine:
Galatians 5:22-24. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
"And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts."
( The last sentence here is perhaps the death of the old Heart. "Not Old Nature".
by us being in Christ at his death. The new Heart and Power supplied by The Holyspirit is given by us behind baptized into his resurrection!
ROMANS 6:1-5.
Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
Our evidence is that our Hope is built on a rock and that rock is Jesus Christ. if you're saved you Have the Holyspirit.
If you're a Christian and don't believe Jesus is Lord then that is mystifying. If you don't believe in the many scriptures in the Bible that say not only Jesus is the son of God, but is God, then that is mystifying. You are in the minority who believe that. Many think saying such things as what you just said is a heresy, but I wouldn't go so far- I think it's just misunderstanding in the same way the other person did. Much of it involves falsely assuming a format like this: "Jesus has one title, therefore he can't (with my own human interpretation) have other titles, because my personal reasons." You suggested that Jesus is not Lord, but that's a foundational belief in Christianity and is throughout the Bible. It's sad that someone has to also assume false motives of another Christian too. Did you pray to God the Father about this before posting such controversy?
Examples of Jesus is Lord: Link
Romans 10:9
Romans 6:23
Philippians 2:10-11
Luke 6:46
Isaiah 44:6
John 13:13
1 Thessalonians 4:16
2 Timothy 1:8
Acts 16:31
1 Corinthians 12:3-5
Did you reach each of the above?
Romans 10:9 for example says: ""That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."" - some translations word it as "...if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord..."
Deut 6:4, Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD:
This verse is similar to: 1 John 5:7-8, John 10:30, and John 1:1, John 1:14, and so many others that say Jesus is God. This doesn't mean Jesus is God the Father, but Jesus is God the Son.
When it says "we are one" that does not mean they are separate. It means they are one. So, when a man says they can't be one, or Jesus is separate somehow, because it says they are 'one' that idea self-contradicts itself. I believe the Bible as it is written.
Here's fragments pulled out of those scriptures.
Romans 6:3-4. Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
Romans 7:25. I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.
Romans 8:10. And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
Romans 8:11-14. But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.
For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
"Positionally the old man have been already charged!
Christ paid the redemptive price on the cross. IT IS FINISHED!!
Romans 8:1. There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
It's not a question of judgment It's a question of deception. "are you baptized in his death Positionally? do you have a 2nd nature that you see Paul is mentioning in Romans 7 that fights back against the old Man/old nature?
Christ the first fruit and if the first fruit is Holy the lump is also Holy. Wasn't the resurrection justification? " God's approval,
We have a earnest of the inheritance in the Holyspirit.
To be looking for further judgment suggests we have a works based relationship for salvation and Christ died in vain.
Acts 22: 16:
Paul defense, testimony on trial telling the people; that he was baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
Romans 6: 3, 4:
Paul says those that are saved have been baptized, buried in the name of Jesus.
Ephesians 5: 26:
Christ sanctify and cleanse His church with the washing of WATER by the word.
Colossians 2: 11, 12:
The circumcision of Christ takes place in water baptism.
Hebrews 9: 19, 20:
Our bodies are washed with pure water.
1 Peter 3: 20, 21:
In the days of Noah, 8 souls were saved by water. The like figure even BAPTISM ALSO NOW SAVES US.
