I have read all the scriptures as best as possible. All these scriptures are for Israel. I love Israel and respect Israel, but God is dealing with the world again through Apostle Paul's epistle, Romans through Philemon.
Exodus 32:13
Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou swarest by thine own self, and saidst unto them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall inherit it for ever.
Numbers 14:21
But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of theLord.
Numbers 35:31-34
31Moreover ye shall take no satisfaction for the life of a murderer, which is guilty of death: but he shall be surely put to death.
Daniel chapter 3
Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, whose height was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof six cubits: he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon
Daniel 7:13, 14, 18
Thank you for those wonderful verses, I love the Old Testament and the New Testament, they all fit like a puzzle perfectly, but we must know what's for us today and what's not for us today.
Fuji we must know who's writing, to whom there writing to, what date was it written and is it us today . The Bible is Holy Words of the Spirit and I respect it all. Everytime we read the Bible, we need to ask ourselves questions and you are doing that . Please have patience and God we reveal it to you.
God bless and keep up the good work in studying and praying.
Ray, in Christ Jesus 1 Corinthians 15:1-4
May you see the Gospel of Grace
Fuji, I will check the verse out that you gave me.
God bless you and thank you.
One day we will all see God eye to eye .
Ray, in Christ Jesus 1 Corinthians 15:1-4
Fuji, I love you as a brother in Jesus, but if you decide you want to follow the Old Testament for Doctrine and Salvation for today, it will be impossible. There's no way you and I can follow the law, plus you won't kill a sheep for sacrifice. Jesus Christ paid it all on the cross for you and I.
The reason you are confused, what's for the Jews stay with the Jews and what's for the Gentiles stay with the Gentiles, that's all starts in the New Testament after Jesus Christ died. We have to separate what's for us and what's for the Jews.
Read the book of Acts as much as you can and then read Romans through Philemon and God Almighty will open your eyes to what's really happening.
If you decide to trust in man and not do your own Bible study, then you will be more confused.
Please trust God's word and pray.
Ray, in Christ Jesus 1 Corinthians 15:1-4
The gospel of grace
There is only one Gospel and it is the Gospel of the Kingdom of God on earth , with Christ as our King . Here are some Old Testament references , these sprang to mind as soon as I read this post from you .
Genesis : Ch 2 v 4-15 , Ch 3 v 23 , Ch 12 v 7 , Ch 13 v 14-17 , Ch 15 v 7 , Ch 17 v 8 , Ch 18 v 17 , Ch 28 v 4 and 13-15 , Ch 49 v 8-11.
Exodus Ch 32 v 13 .
Numbers Ch 14 v 21 , Ch 35 v 31-34 .
Daniel all of Ch 3 , also Ch 7 v 13 , 14 and 18 .
I stuck with the Old Testament as I'm sure you don't need me to point out the references from the New . If you have time to read these you will see how they are the building blocks of the New Testament message and these verses are reiterated in the New , bringing both New and Gentile together into one people . Truly one nation under God . Again apologies if I misunderstood your message .
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
Romans 12:2
Andbenot conformed to this world: butbeye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, andperfect, will of God.
1 Corinthians 1:10
Now Ibeseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that therebeno divisions among you; but that yebeperfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
2 Timothy 3:10
But thou hast fully knownmydoctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,
Phillipians 3:14 states that "I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." This follows verse 8 which states all things are counted as loss for the cause of Christ and the previous verse 13 which discusses leaving things behind and forgetting them. When we look at the life of Christ and the Apostles we don't see any dwelling on the insults and persecution they all went through. No doubt the prayers of the faithful and fellowship of the Saints were there strength; and that should be paramount in our lives. I myself still have a Therapist who is nominally Christian but now that things are settled as to my parents and such I am ready to eliminate this counsel by the end of this year. Such counsel was as is often the case unsuccessful in stopping a difficult marriage from falling apart (affairs tend to do that); but her situation was very similar as being an only child taking care of parents with Dementia and other issues I faced. My Christian community has helped me greatly and I have several new friends.
As to real life situations; we have situations in scripture such as rape (Absolom's brother with Tamar); as well as killings and revenge killings and such. God had the law to enact very real punishments; but lessons can be learned in scripture as how not to bear grudges and take vengeance on our own without seeking the Lord first. I have seen God cut lives short of people who have either assaulted me or who were generally violent and unstable. Not to belabor the point but my father has been mocking me and mentally abusive to this date although the Dementia has somewhat subdued it. He now has a Christian woman as a supervisor where he is staying and another Christian friend from my church who brought him a meal after my mom died is planning to visit him soon. God heals all wounds; through God's help I will restrain anger towards his behaviors. To heal God often has us help others.
1 Thessalonians 5:24 - Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
It says faithful is he that calls you, and the word calls is a participle, the one who is continually calling you. He's continually calling me to Him right now. I responded several years ago. And I'm still responding to Him. He's still calling.
But notice this: faithful is He who is calling you, who also will do it. Paul just said may he preserve your whole spirit, soul, and body, may He preserve you blameless. He will do it. It's a promise!
1 Thessalonians 5:28 - The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ is with you. It's a proclamation, not a benediction. The word "be" is in italics because it's added. There's no verb in Greek. He's stating fact. The grace of the Lord is with you. Amen.
Another book down. I will begin with 2 Thessalonians soon, Lord willing!
Blessings in Christ!
1 Thessalonians 5:16 - Rejoice evermore.
Rejoice always. This means continue to rejoice. It's a command. Be rejoicing always. Pretty short and sweet!
1 Thessalonians 5:17 - Pray without ceasing.
Next, be continually praying without ceasing. It means to be continually talking with the Lord. Don't leave off from praying.
1 Thessalonians 5:19 - Quench not the Spirit.
Stop quenching the Spirit. The word quench means to hinder. How can you hinder God's Spirit? Very easily! There can be disturbances. Somebody could come in the room and be shouting and yelling and break up what God's doing, causing distractions. But it's also a command for leaders. Don't be in a position where you hinder God's Spirit from ministering.
1 Thessalonians 5:23 - And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
He says, and the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; that is completely, and that your whole spirit, soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
A human being is made up of three elements: spirit, soul, and body. And the word soul is the word PSUECHE for your mind, your psyche. So, he's praying for God to preserve and make a believer's spirit, soul, and body complete until He comes.
It's interesting because people say why would He keep the body because it's evil? No, it's not. The body isn't evil. What the body is made of is evil, flesh! Flesh is evil. The body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. The body is the container. It contains my spirit. It contains Christ's Spirit. But what my body is made of has the law of sin in it. So, the body isn't evil. It's the flesh of the body that is evil.
In Acts 1:9-11, when Jesus ascended up into heaven, He disappeared into the clouds, and the angels told the disciples the same way that you have seen the Lord leave is the same way you will see Him come back. We will be caught up together with them in the clouds for a meeting with the Lord in the air. And therefore comfort one another with these words.
1 Thessalonians 5:2 - For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
For you yourselves know perfectly, which is a Greek word that's a mathematical term, AKRIBOS, which means accurately. You yourselves know accurately that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night.
The day of the Lord is exactly what it says. It is not a specific day. It is a time period that God has set apart, even in the Old Testament. It will be His day. The Lords Day is coming. It's not a specific day. It's a time period. It's judgment time. But when it does come, it will come like a thief in the night. People will not be expecting it. It's going to come suddenly.
1 Thessalonians 5:6 Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
It says therefore, and I'll share some technical things here about the translation. Instead of let us not sleep, it's literally we should not sleep. It's not a command. It says we should not sleep, as do the others; but let us watch and be sober.
1 Thessalonians 5:15 - See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
The word evil is the word adversity. If people cause you problems, he's saying don't turn around and do the same thing to them. But follow that which is good, and that's the word AGATHOS which is spiritual good, both among yourselves, and to all men. In other words, if people cause adversity for you, pursue the good of God and the influence of His Spirit in the situation, and don't repay evil for evil.
1 Thessalonians 4:17 - Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
More literally, then afterwards in sequence, we which are alive and are remaining shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, for a meeting of the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
The phrase "caught up together" is the Greek word HARPADZO which means to snatch up by force. It's used for a bird, like an owl that will swoop down and snatch up a mouse. And it's used for the Lord coming and snatching up His people. In fact, it's the same word in Latin (RAPTUS), which is where we get rapture from. It comes from the Latin Vulgate.
Some say that there is no rapture because there's no such word in the bible. Obviously, they don't understand that RAPTUS is the Latin word for the Greek word HARPADZO which means to snatch away or seize by force.
So, we which are alive and remain will be caught up together with them. They come up out of the grave first, and we get caught up with them to where when we get to the Lord, we get there at the same time. It will be simultaneous, though their action starts first, which is very understandable because they're underground and we're above ground.
1 Thessalonians 4:18 - Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
The word comfort is the word encouragement. He's showing them the procedure. He says don't worry about those who have died before you because this is what's going to happen. They will come back with the Lord in spirit, their bodies will be raised up first. And then we which live and remain will be caught up together. Our spirit is still in our body. By the time we all reach into the presence of the Lord in the clouds, our bodies will be changed into a spiritual body and we will forever be with Him.
1 Thessalonians 4:14 - For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and the word "if" is 1st Class Condition, meaning it's true. It's translated since. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also, and notice this: which sleep in Jesus God will bring with him.
How do you bring dead people with you if they're in the grave? They're asleep in Jesus. Their physical body is in the grave. They are absent from the body and present with the Lord, and when the Lord comes back, they come back with Him.
1 Thessalonians 4:16 - For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout. The word shout, KALUO, is the word for command. He's just not going to yell. He's going to give a command.
As my last posting stated unregenerate man in the accounts of the Kings of Israel and in fact from Genesis to Revelation demonstrates nothing but evil. Genesis 6:5 shows that the ACTIONS of men when they were fully demonstrated led to judgment as it will when the wickedness is fully ripe such as with grapes when they are treaded under the winepress of God's wrath in Revelation 19 and other prophetic related scriptures.
As C.S. Lewis indicated Christ was either a lunatic; a liar or THE TRUTH. His words are piercing; but so is all scripture describing the state of man who desperately needs a Savior. Bad news has to be understood before the Good News in regard to our state; not that every detail needs to be understood but enough exposed; which only the Spirit can reveal to a man.
Thus scripture is either a great moral lesson or THE truth for someone; it is either an entertaining mystical adventure or it leads us to the conclusion that it is either heaven or hell for us. The natural tendency is to use scripture to justify ourselves; we have all heard the analogy "I am better than Hitler; or a serial killer; blah blah". We could say the "Devil made me do it" rather than attesting to the cause of our misery is our own sin that allows the enemy to wreak havoc on our lives. The Devil can be allowed to do all sorts of things but can't force us to sin. Truth be told we are in sin all the time if we aren't alive in Christ but the enemy wants to find a way to kill steal and destroy. We dare not take Satan as a joke either but scripture makes a true believer victorious and courageous (bold as a lion) ( Prov. 28:1). Preaching to myself here...
My final thought at present is that for the Ephesians 6 type believer we wield the sword of power based on Scripture; not on some esoteric experience. Only when the Lord is truly showing us something that is scriptural does it benefit us; the Word helps us to see what is of God; man or Satan.
2 Timothy 3:16
"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness
This verse gives a good indication of the multiple uses of scripture; maybe even the same one.
Whether it is prophecy; moral teachings such as in Proverbs; verses about personal struggles such as Psalms; or historical accounts such as Genesis; or the law as we see in the later Pentateuch in Leviticus and Deuteronomy there are different types of scripture with varying applications for each. As far as "iron sharpening iron" ( Prov. 27:17) the 2 Timothy reference here has 4 different applications relating to personal edification.
We could look at interpreting Balaam and the talking donkey; the bizarre behaviors of Samson with his riddles and burning tails of animals to set a field ablaze or using the jawbone of a donkey to kill many men and his final act of tearing down the house as a type of suicide and dismiss these things as too far fetched. Such would be the case no doubt for the Genesis 6 account of the giants on the earth who in my mind no doubt are mentioned throughout many other passages such as Deuteronomy and the final ones of Goliath and his brothers mentioned in scripture which brought David to ascendance eventually to the throne.
Those who wish to live in stuffy ivory towers may brush aside these tales. The controversy of the Song of Solomon and its sensual imagery made it the last book accepted; I would argue there is a spiritual meaning hidden there; but in the same token not recommend it be read by children.
We can certainly apply the concept of the series of Kings listed in Chronicles; 1 and 2 Kings and other scriptures to see the overall course of these rulers always gravitated toward evil with the exception of a few righteous kings; they were mostly wicked as assessed by God. Unregenerate man is desperately wicked; the Bible shows this clearly.
15And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
16Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
17And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
I thought it prudent to mention my friend after mentioning a letter I was just about to write to my cousin advised me to wait a bit until my Aunt passes then decline the service if I am invited. I am stating this because there is a balance not only between trying to be peaceable with all men ( Romans 12:18-19) when we can and not being ashamed of the Gospel; but also not trying to anticipate negative reactions or always be proactive to avoid anticipated conflicts. My friend helped me to consider this matter; although I am sure I will have to face it if the Lord tarries.
Understanding different challenges the Lord gave to different individuals helps; one person was asked to give up ALL he had to follow Christ; while Zaccheus only volunteered to give a portion of what he had to anyone he defrauded and half to the poor if I remember it right. In this case we had an individual who self righteously followed all the law and on the exterior maybe he did; pride in his own strength was his downfall because money was this rich man's security. For Zaccheaus though he was ready to live a lifestyle indicating repentance that demonstrated true faith.
Of course the concepts of Predestination and "Free Will" are one of the most common areas of friction. I would argue both are indicated in scripture and God can be a big enough God to not have His plan thwarted by allowing His Creation to be able to make their own decisions. Predestination has several layers; some of which relate to National Israel and God's Covenants while others relate to the salvation of specific individuals. Whether one believes in what is known as "double predestination" or people created who are determined ahead to be lost I won't argue with; nonetheless God knows ahead of time the fate of all men no matter how you slice it. If He is patient with vessels fitted for destruction ( Rom. 9:22) for their sake; or for our sanctification this is a true fact.
Multiple meanings.
If we search the Sermon on the Mount; there are several layers to the meanings. General statements of those persecuted being blessed; along with peacemakers; etc. could certainly be applied to people such as Ghandi and others who were clearly not of the Christian faith IF we take only the surface level to this. The higher concept is that only the love of Christ allows us to love our enemies unconditionally; and this is at least partly due to the fact we realize in true faith that we all were once enemies of God reconciled by the cross at Calvary as the atonement for our sins.
How many out there have been told you're a "good person". My unbelieving Aunt said that to me in regard of the care I gave to my mom and now my dad who is in a Memory Care facility; and not too happy about it. He says that I am crazy; have him imprisoned there; etc. My relatives understand that to care for him and for his safety I had to get him placed there; but this is something my unbelieving Cousin had to do for her mom who is now in Hospice Care. God did give me strength to do things but I have no inherent goodness. My Christian friend also said not to be too hard on myself and thinks highly of me. I take it as the same as being told I am a hypocrite as my mom would say to me when she was still alive; or those who cursed me when sharing the scripture with them from someone in my High School in 1982 to those on the street witnessing a few years back.
I say all this; hopefully to prove a point; that we as believers have a responsibility to care for our families but also Christ has to be our top priority. Thus; I see the very real risk of losing touch with my whole mom's side of the family who is Jewish as I don't have the heart to attend my Aunt's funeral since she isn't a believer. "let the dead bury their own dead". ( Luke 9:60).
To study scripture with open eyes we have to believe ALL scripture and not cherry pick
Continuing on personal interpretation of a passage; there are infinite ways something can be twisted and at times there are more than one truth that can be expounded from a passage as well. Isolating scripture is a classic error; taking John 3:16 for example a universalist may say that shows everyone is saved but the next couple passages through verse 18 show that those who don't believe are condemned already. Those "prosperity" Gospel folks are insanely trying to justify that anyone not wealthy isn't blessed by God. Along with the fact that Christ and the Apostles had to live in want most of the time; these folks ignore the fact that Abram moved away from his comforts of home and Moses from the riches of Egypt ( Heb. 11:26 even mentions Christ as the reason he did that). Wealth was not something that was coveted in these cases; and when it was such as with Solomon things didn't go well (and God warned him of the dangers of multiplying gold and silver and horses and such beforehand).
The literal vs figurative subject certainly can affect just about any scripture as to correct or incorrect interpretation. The few scriptures that are clearly figurative still have specific applications and related to real people and situations. Disregarding or interpreting something we don't understand or haven't seen fulfilled yet prophetically is a dangerous precedent; this led many to reject Christ as they couldn't conceive Him coming without taking over immediately as a warrior; king and national savior. We can't go the other extreme and say well; this proves everyting was fulfilled already either which taken to the fullest extent means we think Christ has already returned or won't come back physically which is heretical teaching.
THere is a way which seems right to a man but it is the way that leads to death ( Prov. 14:12). Not everyone that says "Lord Lord" will enter heaven either ( Matt 7:21). Let us love God by obedience.
In general, we could state the world is still very similar to what it is today in the time of Christ in many ways when it comes to moral and civil matters in more respects than we may expect although there were obvious differences in the freedoms of women (although that varied back and forth through different centuries); and the acceptance of slavery to name two things. We could; for example take Christ's parables and say why not substitute it for similar moral precepts today? We certainly don't need to use the old British coinage of "talents" and "mites" and other obscure descriptions of money to get the concept of these Parables.
The eternal truths of the Parable of Lazarus and the rich man means it is not allegorical but literal; therefore more like forensic evidence for realities of the afterlife than a story about moral principles. At any rate taking latitudes to change the story or come up with other tales that show the same principle aren't necessarily wrong but also it doesn't rise to the level of scripture which always supplements earlier materials (such as talking about the "bosom" of Abraham; again a real life event just as what happened at the Transfiguration where Moses and Elijah appeared).
Such ideas could expand to subjects such as Christian music as well. There are those who rightly espouse singing Psalms who are worshipping God straight out of scriptures; something which we don't see today with most "Christian" music with a few exceptions; mainly with Messianic Jewish groups. The exclusion of any other styles; or using instruments may have some merit but as a rule I cannot hold to such strict boundaries. The same can be said for "intentionality" here though; why are these artists singing about Christ is it to promote their own careers by never challenging anyone in their lyrics or personal appearances about sin and only stalking about God's love in some sappy lyrics?
Does our interpretation of doctrine determine the meaning of scripture or our understanding of scripture build our concept of the doctrines and meaning therein?
Under no circumstances would I continue to submit to the authority of a church whose leadership expouses what is clearly a false doctrine. There are those around us who may have different concepts of what certain doctrines mean. How I would approach that is to study the Scripture; and make any argument or "burning of bridges" be based on what CAN be understood. What is most important is that THE truth is present; i.e. the Holy Spirit is leading people to true repentance. Sometimes error can proceed from simply not considering scripture. It is also true; of course that even those in cults may have better knowledge of scripture than we do just to prove their point that they are the "chosen ones" or elite.
Therefore; it is the intention of the use of scriptures which is to be a major factor. Are we trying to indoctrinate people as a cult leader; or control freak by using guilt or shame to put fear in people rather than the true fear of God? Who is being exalted?
We also have to look at Bible translations; and I am willing to state that indeed it appears KJV is the best translation or one of the best most common translations to date; although once again I should point out the Tyndale and Geneva Bible came beforehand (the Geneva is something I have been borrowing in my small group studies of late and I can say it is sufficiently close to KJV). There are crucial places where the "I am" appear to be missing; for instance in other translations.
In looking to persoanal applications this is a tricky business. Indeed we have to relate things in our human brains to what we have seen in our own experiences in some ways; on a human level to understand the Word; ultimately the Spirit will illuminate the minds of the truly regenerate.
More to come; Lord willing.
That was an excellent and timely post!
It also reminds me of what Brother Jesse said.
Satan wants to control the "ATTENTION of our minds " There is a lot out there for the youth that can do this in this easy access to information.
Today some parents is just a provider for the very things that enables their kids to depart from the parents guidance which can mean the parents have also departed from devine guidance.
Thanks and God bless.
Parents who are wise and careful about these things do not loose their kids to the world easily. And kids who have rooted themselves in Christ with the aid of their parents and careful churches since little and not in the waters of this world are growing up steadily in Christ. With all the trials and hardships but they stay and if gone for a little while they eventually come back into their Fathers arms.
I know all that because I have been one of those parents who were careless about my kid. I wasn't trying hard to plant the love of God in my son's heart. And now I am paying the consequences. And I complain to God as if it was His fault. But thanks God that we have a Father who fixes things up and builds back up the ruins we make in our lives. Times are tough. Christian parents wake up. Jesus is coming.
Since women have left their houses and their children and went off to the job market, our kids grow up not next to their parents but in state scholls where they will be tought for the next 10-15 years the wisdom of Babylon. "I will teach them the right think", shouts the devil. "go to your job, don't worry, your kids are under my protection. I will be taking care of them now" "Go, go, be successful, work hard, 2-3-4 jobs from day to night, be rich, rich houses, rich cars, jewelery, buy happiness BUT leave your kids to me" " I will teach them progressive things, like God is a myth, man came out of apes, life is short, eat drink as much as you like, LGBT agendas, inclusion, respect the wills of others, why are you interested what they do on their bed, it is their right to do what they like, everything is normal." LEAVE YOUR KIDS TO ME TO TEACH THEM THE WISDOM OF BABYLON.
And this often doesn't ring a bell in christian parent's ears. They work from day to night to provide the best for their kids - not bad but there must be a limit to that. Isn't that what Pharaoh also did? He forced the Israelites to work hard all day so that they have no time to think and worship their God. And the parents' only dreams from their kids is to be successfuln in life, brilliant studies, rich houses, cars, money, good athletes, piano, guitar, great talents BUT lost sheep as well. They have lost the right direction. We have lost our path to heaven. We are walking down the wide and easy way. If the devil can not bring the church in the world then he will try to do the opposite, to bring the world in the church. And I think this is the major problem in all christian congregations nowadays. We have lost our scope in life, we have gone another way, the way of the world. Firstly us and then our kids who God has given to us and trusted in us to bring them safely to heaven.
It was the plan of the Pharaoh to kill the babies of the Israelites in the Nile so there would be no continuation and eventually the Israelites as a nation would die away. This same plan the devil has put in work today, and in all times I think. It is like him saying, "OK do you what you want to do, worship your God, no problem, but I will kill your young men in the sea of this world and eventualy I will wave you goodbye.". So he focuses on young people, who have no experience in this life and it is easy for them to hear the sirens, the lights of this world, like the lost sheep, the lost penny,...
Unlike older times when societies were close knite and there was parental control and people had strong moral values, this age is very tough for young people. Sin is available everywhere and it is free. Plenty and free. "Get as much you like, free for everybody, enjoy your life, no boundaries, follow your heart, do what it seems you right, enjoy free relationships, many partners, consider youself as you like, you are a man and feel like woman or the opposite, no problem it is OK, it is normal, lets get rid of that dark age culture, new societies, new agendas. everybody happy." TRASH COVERED IN FANCY COVER. Sin is like drugs. The first times you take them you feel nice, but eventually they will trap you in a jail of passion where it would impossible for you to get out, and you will end up asking for food for pigs like the prodigal son and even then the devil won't be willing to give you and you will die in your passion and sins.
This age is completely different from all other ages in the human history. Globalization, the disapperance of the borders and boundaries between people and nations, the easiness that the information travels from one side of the earth to another, the internet, are apart from tools of easiness a tool for devil to reach the bedroom of any house in any country in the world and offer his temptations. .
The Desciples were called followers of "the Way." Followers of Christ.
It was at Antioch about 45 AD that they were first called Christians, as we read in Acts 11:26. "And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.
God bless
The Gospel of the Kingdom is for the Jews and the Gospel of Grace is for the Gentiles.
We start with the Gospel of the Kingdom on earth for the Jews for the New Jerusalem.
Matthew 4:23
And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching thegospelofthekingdom, and healing all mannerofsickness and all mannerofdisease among the people.
The gospel of the kingdom required

Yes it is Acts 1:19. It is the story that Paul meets those disciples in Ephessus. He asks them if they have received the Holy Spirit. They answer that they haven't heard anything about It, about such a baptism. So he asks them in what were they baptized in? I don't think that Paul asked them whether they were baptized in another spirit. He is obviously talking about water baptism. But if the actual christian baptism is done only in the name of Jesus, his question is irrelevant to the Holy Spirit. Because Paul is trying to figure out how come they have never heard of the Spirit. But if the baptism is done in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, then his question makes sense. He is actually telling them how come you haven't heard of the Holy Spirit since you were baptized in this name as well during your water baptism? A small detail in that discussion that sheds light to a serious topic, in my opinion. Blessings
