Christ was also referred to as the 2nd Adam ( 1 Cor. 15:45; also seen in Romans 5). Hence Adam was designed in the image of God but because of his sin it affected all his offspring therefore we inherited his sin nature during conception ( Psalm 51:5). Men at that time when Christ lived on the earth expected the Messiah to come to earth and vanquish them of their enemies; hence tried to make him king ( John 6:15). His reaction was to go to withdraw Himself to the mountains (likely to pray).
A cursory examination of the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5 shows statements that at first seem to contradict the law; or at the very least make the ramifications more severe for our thoughts about things that may or may not become actions. This was illustrated with lusting after a woman being adultery in the heart; and more stringent laws on putting away one's wife. This explanation was brought out further in Matthew 19:8 with the Pharisees on the subject as to the concepts tied in with Deuteronomy 24. This shows that Christ was; as a member of the Godhead able to define and even change what was considered the law to make it more perfect as no one before Him ever was able to live out a sinless life following the law perfectly. Ultimately certain ceremonial laws were brought to an end as seen in Acts 10:15; but alluded to in Mark 7:18-19.
Hence the method of rituals related to the animal sacrifices also was to be ended with the New Covenant. Overall we can say the 10 Commandments as a moral law remain as a universal statute; although the mandatory 7th day of rest only given for Israel and its occupants has been replaced with Sunday as a day of rest although Colossians 2:16-17 says we should avoid disputes over Sabbath Days and I would add Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath ( Matthew 12:8). I am not here to get into a debate over that issue.
To have the law in our hearts was a future promise that Christ demonstrates ( Jeremiah 31:16-18).
Thank you, brothers, so much for the prayers. Ronald and Spencer, I do pray that the Lord keep you both safe tonight along with all others in your respective areas. Hopefully the storm is not as nasty as the one that came through here. We've only lived here in the Midwest for two years now, so we're getting a taste of what the weather here is like, nothing like California where we moved from.
Anyway, thank you all for the prayers and I will be praying for you also.
God Bless!!!
We should glory in God 's grace and mercy towards us and other, with thanksgiving for mercifully saving ourselves and all of the other believers we know. We are to look out for the best interests of others and to think of others as better than ourselves, being as we are lowly sinners as they, corrupted by sin and having a rebellion within our fallenness that all people have in common.
Praise God that Jesus has delivered us from this great depravity that comes from within ourselves. We are responsible for our failure to measure up to the righteousness of Jesus, yet we are helpless to remedy our state of our own strength. So glad that God, in His wisdom decided all aspects of creation, fall, redemption before all things were created. His sovereignty is truly a comfort to me, knowing He had all things worked out for our salvation to come to pass in the Son coming in the flesh to do what no normal, sinful human could ever do. Hallelujah!
These are very humbling and sobering experiences because I know that someone is in dire need and for some reason God chose me to partner with the Spirit to intercede, feeling the heaviness of it all and the strong sense of God's hand upon me, I just wanted to obey Him in every way for the sake of the ones I was praying for even though I did not know who it was until after the time of intercession ended. I don't take about this too much. It isn't a regular occurrence for me. But I did learn so much about God's great power and the need for me to keep sharp as to the working of the Spirit in and through me.
How awesome is our Saving God who calls us to pray, helps us to pray, and responds to our prayers in the best ways according to His wise counsel, perfect will, and good pleasure. May He always be glorified in the saints.
Many prayers for you and yours and for the entire region in the U.S. that is under threat of severe tornados, flooding, winds, rain and overall destructive forces in this weather system. This has been a very destructive winter coast to coast as far as adverse weather incidents.
Praying for God's mercy to spare those in dangerous situation, bring rescue to the stranded and hurt, and to cut short this system so that the destruction will be lessened. Oh, Father, this is so widespread and there is so much need. Asking for You to provide assistance, response personnel, financial support for relief agencies, and urge people to turn out to help where needed. Asking that You do miracle after miracle, so that Your glory can be noticed by so many and cause the unsaved to call upon You.
Thanking You for the care you give to those who are called by Your name and who are among the saved. Keep them in this trying time.
I pray everything works out for you!
I'm a bit nervous here in Georgia.
God bless.
I'm sorry to hear that!
We're bracing for the storm here in Georgia.
I pray that all works out well for you.
Blessings.
My prayers are with you, I live in Alabama and the storms are getting close to me 4:30 PM here.
God bless,
RLW
I would like to ask for prayer. My wife and I, and our family here in town are all okay but we had a bad storm pass through our location last night (St. Louis area) and we (my wife and I) have some pretty extensive damage to the back of our house, broken windows from large hail and gusty winds along with the entire back exterior wall of our house damaged. There were a few tornadoes close by, so we spent most of the night in our basement. We filed an insurance claim this morning, so I am asking for prayer that this all goes smoothly and quick. Either way, the Lord is good and in control.
Thank you all so much and may the Lord continue to bless you all.
Jesse
I have never seen a vision. But my wife has seen a few.
In one of those visions she was standing infront of God's throne to be judged for her life. It was not her turn yet. Before her another person was judged. Both, my wife and that other person, had a paper in their hands written on it all the sins and wrong doings of their lives. That other person was a person known to my wife. As that other person, a woman also, was judged my wife was thinking of that other person "she has done this and that, and that ...". Any time my wife thought that that other woman did this wrong thing the same accusation was appearing on her paper too. So she thought it was better for her not to think of what wrong that other woman had done so that the same accusation wouldn't appear on her paper too.
Conclusion. God will be strict to us if we are srtict to our people. God will be merciful if we are merciful to others.
Romans 2:1-4
"1Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.
2But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things.
3And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?
4Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?"
Don't we all do more or less the same sins? So why do we judge our brothers for the same things we also do?
And if we don't do the same sins still we are not allowed to judge others. Because without God's grace we are all sinners. Maybe more, maybe less, but still sinners. And since we are all saved through God's grace there is nothing to boast about ourselves comparing ourselves to our brothers. Remember the Pharisee and the publican.
"Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul."
God made man a living soul. Surely God must have had a purpose, is it not? The same power and wisdom with which he created the worlds gives man his context. "He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion./When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens, and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth"( Jer. 10. 12-13) Coming back to the Spirit moving upon the face of the waters Jeremiah extends our understanding of the multitude of waters in the heavens, Man's relationship to his Maker is as the waters below respond to the waters above. Soul of man is a sign of this bond.
Waters above signifies his Mercy. As with waters below signify generation of man waters above by the same token reveal His discretion. God framed the worlds by his Word so Law of the Spirit is from everlasting to everlasting. The earth abides for ever for the same reason the Word was with God. Christ as the Mediator is the heir of these worlds. "his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds./... sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high:"(Heb.1.2-3) By Jesus Christ came grace and truth so soul of man was enriched by the truth already set in his inward parts. Soul of man under the everlasting Covenant had an example. Faith with works was doable. Here Eph.1.3-4 becomes his certainty. We only have to holy and without before God in love. Our soul in short is the abiding presence of God. "And he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth" Jeremiah quote explains the work of God, "who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ." How well do we know Jesus Christ who of God has become righteousness.? Faith, of course. (Jn.5.28-29) "But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us righteousness.
So that being said, why would they change it? Even the Jews becoming Christians in the beginning of Acts all were done like that. We don't see sprinkling baptism come until much later in the church age, and if I remember right it came from like Africa or Egypt or something and that was an invention of Roman Catholicism.
I guess in short it's always been submersion and there isn't a point in scripture ever where it suddenly becomes sprinkling. I hope this helps.

"Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul./I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me."
"He sent from above, he took me, he drew me out of many waters."(Ps.18.16)Deliverance of saints from many waters indicate passage of time, end times. Also rendering the world as distinct from heaven where the divine Will is established forever as the Law. God is a Spirit and the Law consequently is the Law of the Spirit. When the Spirit moved upon the face of the waters it has had consequences. "The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee; they were afraid: the depths also were troubled." (77.16). In terms of the Law what signifies fear elicited by the waters. One answer is in terms of sin and death. So we have this verse, "The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?"(Is.33.14)
In terms of heaven the eternal word of God frames Zion and as we discussed in the previous post 'this is the hill which God desireth to dwell in; yea, theLordwill dwell in it for ever." The Spirit of God declares it to the waters which is what the above mentioned verse from Gen.1.2 indicates. The sinners in Zion is afraid and what do they teach instead? God created the heaven and the earth in seven days. The Spirit of God presents the devouring fire to which we have the Ancient of days seated in his fiery throne. He opens the books in accordance with the everlasting Covenant and the Law also sets the judgment. Where is the dino? asks the hypocrites. They have a gap theory as well.
"God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,/Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son." (Heb.1.1-3) God sent his Son in the fulness of time."The Spirit moving upon the face of the waters also conjures up generations.
Revelation 22:14
"Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city."
Though the matter about the Law, you stated: "We've got to be obedient to his 2 covenants of promise (10 commandments and rainbow covenat "eat clean")", I would disagree with you on. My understanding from the Word, is that we are not under the Law, whether as a requirement to obey or be reliant on it for any degree of salvific merit. The Law was given to Israel, and Israel alone, for a purpose, and the Cross of Christ did away with that Law which could give no salvation ( Romans 8:3, Galatians 3:19-26). Though there was nothing wrong with the Truth & Purity of the Law as uttered by God Himself ( Romans 7:12), its purpose was served to bring Israel to understand that the Law could never change anyone - that they were in bondage to it & their end would be death. The Law simply could not save them. But if they would hear & believe in their Messiah, then full salvation & new life in Jesus would be theirs, freeing them from a Law that only revealed sin & led to death ( Romans 8:1-4). If any believer in Christ is dependent on the Old Law to demonstrate or even give any extra worth to their salvation (or even to please God), then that faith is not based on the full merit of Christ's Sacrifice - for faith in Christ alone, not by any works of goodness or obedience to the Law, will save. And any fusion of the two (Faith plus Law obedience) negates the purity & worth of the Cross.
The Spirit is specific concerning the holy habitation of God. And for emphasis he repeats, yea, theLordwill dwell in it for ever.' The phrase 'forever' is concerning his Son Jesus Christ. The Word was with God so the divine Will has a form and it is Jesus Christ "who is the same yesterday, and today, and forever". (Heb.13.8) God who is invisible has a visible image in the Father Son relationship. Thus the Father set forth his Law which has a form. It is for this Jesus as the Word become flesh said, "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil./For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled." (Mt.5.16-17)
Holy is his name. God framed the earth with his word wherein whatever does not belong shall be removed. It is his discretion. "He hath made the earth by his power, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion."(Jer.10.12) So the writer to the Hebrews speaks as to how. "Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven./And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain."(Heb.12.26-27)
In the light of the above consider such expressions, "even Sinai itself was moved at the presence of God" or "Why leap ye hills?' there are to be understood in the context of his voice. "lo, he doth send out his voice, and that a mighty voice."(68.8,16.33) Without understanding the difference between the worlds framed by the word of God and the natural world interpreting the Bible leads one to scriptural minefield. New Jerusalem is not literal Jerusalem; neither is Israel as that of circumcision but holy nation called and justified by faith.
Further questions
How does God work with man in order to facilitate His Kingdom and bring it to fruition in time? How do we find a balance between God being an impartial judge ( Deut. 10:17) and His personal relationship literally "possessing" us with His Holy Spirit for those who He has called and chosen? This causes Him to show favor among His children.
How do we wrap our heads around God who can't even look at sin and yet so loving the world that He sent His only Son? It is easy to brush off our understanding of John 3:16 with what Christ did for us and its effectivity for all who believe His Name but if the Father had to look away when Christ bore our sin ( Matthew 27:46) how can He even care about us; miserable worms that we are? (Spoiler alert He sees Christ in us when we are sealed with the Spirit)
How can we understand eternal destinies as compared to what we can see and sense today with those around us and the world in general as to its appearance? What can we make of our new bodies ( 1 Cor. 2:14). What about 1 Corinthians 15:35-36. Are we to understand we are foolish to ask such questions of what it will be like in Resurrected form?
35 But someone will ask, "How are the dead raised? With what kind of body will they come?" 36 How foolish! What you sow does not come to life unless it dies. I'll try to delve more into that later but it has to do with the context for that church as to how Paul was speaking.
Why were many things hidden as to Christ's first 30 years before beginning public ministry?
Why did God prophesy and bring about Judas the Betrayer and the future Antichrist Beast?
The last thing I will post tonight is the thought of why and how the Lord both REVEALS truth and CONCEALS it to those receptive and rejecting Him. 2 Corinthians 4:4 is a good start but it is still mysterious and thought provoking. I will get more into this in later postings as to how it relates to evangelism.
Under the assumption that most here are aware that Christ came to earth as fully God; fully man and He died was buried and rose again; and is now seated at the right hand of the Father and will return a second time to rule and reign on earth along with other basic scriptures I wanted to start with some questions that hopefully can be answered with careful inspection into the Word. We don't fully comprehend all things and may never; certainly on this side of eternity.
Question One: How can we wrap our heads around a member of the Godhead coming to earth to die in our place and not only that but the fact that this was predetermined from before the foundation of the world in eternity past to happen? ( Acts 2:23 etc)
Not only that but He Resurrected with the marks on His body and is the only one in heaven who will always be scarred to remind us of what He did for us. He is still God but His appearance is changed; we ask ourselves did His time on earth change Him in any other way? Since God created time we could say that it was as good as done or in some sense had already happened before it did. Such things are too great to understand; surely Christ's sufferings are over but is it something He can forget? For us mere mortals there will be no more suffering and death so maybe it is in His plan to forget also? We certainly can see how serious sin is but for the Creator of all to do this of course is beyond words. For us to understand His request for the cup to be taken from Him ( Luke 22:42) shows that not only that He condescended to be one of us but had to go through all the doubts which other humans have as part of His suffering; although surely He knew the outcome. I can't wrap my head around it. I'll try to get into some of the answers later; spoiler alert it does help us to understand why we must suffer if He had to go through it surely we puny mortals must suffer as well but there is a plan to bring purpose.
Great lessons
God bless you Brother.
If we look at the whole of Scripture we see a sort of a master play; fleshed out in the epochs of the past and heading from now into the future with a predetermined outcome. The characters are manifold and encompass different cultures and nations including territory all the way from Ethiopia to India ( Esther 1:1); to include Jerusalem as the center focus eventually with surrounding parts of Europe, Asia and Africa making it as the "center" of the earth of the major Kingdoms from Babylon; Egypt; Greece and Rome in the past to the future "Beast" system of the end times rapidly developing as we speak.
In all this we see something unique; that the codirector as it were personally had to take the fall in the middle of this drama and come back to life. Everyone of course is part of the audience but of course where their future is the question.
As men any description of God's ways is inadequate. It is always best to keep to God's Word rather than even the best books written on scriptural topics such as "Pilgrims Progress" or the thoughtful tales of C.S. Lewis that have hundreds of scriptures brought to life in a fanciful story of British youth in the Post World War two era and Aslan as a type of Christ. Nonetheless; it is no accident of course all the details in all of our individual lives and how they fit in with everyone else; John 21:25 makes it clear that all the books in the world couldn't hold just what Christ Himself did when on earth. The Bible is the LIVING Word; and although it has to be front and center it is active ( Hebrews 4:12). Our existence will change as the rest of His chosen first Fruits are Resurrected into new bodies but even with a new heaven and earth and the old one burned up His Truth remains the same.
I intend to spend some time on this study and it is by no means exhaustive. We will behold His glory and praise Him forever as well as get to know more and more about Him.
Here we go...
I thought about starting a new series of postings describing Christ as He is in the Old Testament and New (as many like to say concealed and then revealed). There is a certain broad base of topics especially in regard to the law (OT) and grace (NT). As with many theological doctrines there may be a general progress historically and according to God's plans with the Old and New Covenants; etal.; nonetheless mutual exclusivity can't be a viable option despite how tempting it may be to draw what seems like an easy conclusion. This is because Christ is the fullness of the law and thus Matthew 5:18 stands firm. The person of Christ is the essence of the summation of all the attributes of God ( Colossians 2:9). As to His earthly ministry and humbling Himself to live out a brief existence in time and space to accomplish God's purpose as the atonement for our sins certainly encompasses many prophetic promises and basically sums all of the Bible as the end of all things is preached by the Messiah and the New Testament ends shortly after the Resurrection discussing all things into eternity we need to know. Nonethless of course His eternal presence and glory as stated in Revelation 1 is a foreshadowing of how we all shall behold Him in all His splendor soon.
In regard to that thought it becomes clear to me that much of what has gone wrong with the Internet in particular is that Christ Himself as He truly is often seems to be sidetracked with all the predictions; dreams; visions and novel interpretations of often subjective experiences people have. If we aren't as John in Revelation 1; or the other prophets in falling flat on our faces with any story given about such matters then it is pretty clear they are spurious. Our obsession has to be on Him not any other agenda. John 17:3 comes close to the Navigators motto to "know Him and make Him known".
I pray this helps some people see more clearly into who He is and His manifold ways.
Grace is not unmerited favor, it is the spirit of conviction your heart to obey. (G5485) it's NOT "legalism" it's LOVE ( 1 John 5:3) We've got to be obedient to his 2 covenants of promise (10 commandments and rainbow covenat "eat clean") thats what Christ(Yeshua) magnified and made honorable, just like his very own character and life was pleasing unto God(Yahovah) he opened the door for all nations to enter that covenant verbally presented and agreed to at the rock at Horeb, and *then* written in stone at Mt Sinai. but Israel had already transgressed that agreement ( Exodus 19 & 20) when Moses came down with the 10 commandments in writing. *then* the sacrificial law was added until Christ(Yeshua) would finish the punishment with a perfect sacrifice, effectively restoring the original covenant (10 commandments.) Moses prophesies about ending the punishment of the sacrificial law here in Deuteronomy 18:15-19 but never did the eternal 10 comandments go away. now because the 10 northern tribe were scattered into all the world via mixing seed(mixed offspring) the covenant is open to ALL nations and people. There's many false gospels and dangerous doctrines of men, mixing holy and profane, teaching traditions as commandments while tossing out the actual commandments, ( Matt 24)
