I can heartily agree with your first paragraph that the Triune God is very Truth. But then you say that the Holy Spirit is not a person. And it's at this point that we have to dwell.

Before I give you some Scriptures, let me ask, "what if God chose to embody His "Truth" (the Holy Spirit), with flesh, as He did to His "Word"? Would that alter your belief that the Spirit is more than the Truth (a Word) of God, but very God Himself by His Spirit?

Some Scriptures for you to consider that the Holy Spirit is not only the 'Truth of God' but sent from God as God: 1 Corinthians 2:10-11 (He is Intelligent, He searches, He knows, He has a Will); Ephesians 4:30 (He has feelings - can be grieved & He seals the believer); John 14:26 (He teaches; notice the pronoun); John 16:13, Romans 8:14; Acts 8:29 (He guides, leads, speaks, hears, glorifies God); Acts 13:4 (He commissions or despatches); Romans 8:26,27 (He intercedes); Matthew 12:31 (He can be blasphemed); Acts 5:3 (He can be lied to); Acts 7:51 (He can be resisted); Hebrews 10:29 (He can be outraged). And these are just a few to consider.

Then if we leave off the word 'Spirit' & replace it with 'Truth' in those Scriptures (as you asked me to try out), in some cases, it could work as the Spirit is Truth, as God & the Son are Truth. But in other cases, that just wouldn't work (e.g. how does the Truth (as a spoken Word) grieve, search, has a Will, feelings, hears, glorifies, commissions, intercedes, blasphemed against, etc.?). And then again, why did God not just use the word 'Truth' (as in 'the Truth shall set you free') but rather shows us that His Spirit (of Truth) was sent to accomplish these tasks? I can see if someone has difficulty with the Doctrine of the Trinity, then understanding the Spirit's part in the Godhead would be a problem.

So, I gather that you believe that unless an 'upright & righteous' person falls into sin (particularly fornication), he won't suffer death.

Then the question: who is an upright & righteous person? Is he a sinner that hasn't fallen into sin? Can such a person exist given the transmission of the sin nature to all? Do any of his other sins count as being equally heinous before God or only those of a sexual nature? Indeed, why just focus on this type of sin, when all other sins is equally abhorrent to God & which sends people to hell?

The seventy weeks started in 456 BC and ended in 34 AD. The time period upto Messiah was seven weeks, and three score and two weeks. That is 7+62=69 weeks. ie 69*7=483 years. That is when Jesus was anointed - in CE 27. Daniel 9:27- And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and oblation to cease. ie in the midst of the seventh week ie AC 31 Jesus died in the cross and resurrected. Then after stoning to death of Stephen the gospel was given to gentiles as his own people rejected it AC 34.Thus the 70 weeks prophecy fulfilled in AC 34.This my understanding.

In Revelation 22:11 I discern a definite reference to the closing of human probation upon the earth since the language spoken declares them forever after the character our Lord Jesus says they are. In chapters 15: verses 1, 7 and 8, then chapter 16, we have the time for the pouring out of God's wrath (without mixture according to Revelation 14:10). The reference of those who live in the very end of human probation will live through the time of trouble. while the holy righteous class have the promise of mercy and protection even from the holy cherubim (see Psalms 27 and 91) the rest who are unjust and filthy shall receive the full wrath of God and be slain afterwards by the brightness of our Lord's glorious appearing, when He comes to be glorified in His saints. Both 2 Thessalonians 1:6-8; 2:8; Revelation 19:21. These Scriptures help us also to understand how the Lord will be said to come as a thief in the night during the outpouring of His wrath. His wrath upon those who have been marked for wrath are in contrast to them that are sealed in their foreheads. I am saddened that many will be unprepared to meet Him in peace, either because the have failed to put off sins by repentance and faith in our Lord and Savior, Messiah Jesus. Also many will be lost because they have been given a delusional eschatology and told they will be removed before the time of God's wrath. Jesus is coming soon, may we all be ready.

And further to your question about 'race mixing', have a look at the following that was prescribed by God to His people, Israel: Exodus 34:12-16; Deuteronomy 7:1-4; Joshua 23:11-13; 1 Kings 11:1-4 (where Solomon disobeyed the Lord in this matter); Ezra 9:10-14 & many more. It wasn't anything about race or culture, but that Israel's heart would be turned to worship the idols that their wives followed, forgetting the Lord Who set them apart as His Own.

And the same applies for the Christian today. 2 Corinthians 6:14-18, where the Apostle Paul warns us about entering into any union with unbelievers, whether in business or marriage. Idolatry may not be involved here for us, but the values, ethics & constraints that are upon us as Christian may not always be the same as these others & this is where problems arise & much heartache. However, there is no requirement that a Christian marriage cannot be had with someone from another culture, as long it is with one who is "in the Lord", a believer. Such a union can only receive the blessing of the Lord.

Chuck, from what you've written, I believe you have misunderstood this passage in Nehemiah. This was a commitment that Israel made before the Lord. It began when Ezra rehearsed the Words of God before the people (Nehemiah chapter 8) & the people repented because they had strayed so far from God. (9:1,2).

So they separated themselves from the heathen (10:28), & entered into a unified oath (a curse: which they pronounced upon themselves if they failed to do according to their oath). And part of that oath was that they would not intermarry (v 30), they would honour the Sabbath Day (v 31), they would contribute to the various offerings (vv 32,33), to bring in the firstfruits (the first of their crop, their sons, their animals as an offering to the Lord (vv 34-37); but bear in mind that their sons were NOT sacrificed (see Exodus 13:2, where the sons were sanctified (separated) as consecrated to the Lord)).

Israel had strayed very far from the Lord, so this renewed vow & commitment as a result of the reading of the Law by Ezra & the rehearsal of Israel's history by the Levites (chapter 9), was a turning point in their history, at least for some time.

When you read why Jesus says "Why callest thou me good?", this is a question on Jesus part, in response to a certain ruler's question in regards on how to inherit eternal life, He did not say "don't call me good". two totally different meanings.

The word homosexuality was not invented until the 19th century:

So when the Bible mentions men with men one should be able to associate men with men with the word homosexuality.

The KJV is so old the word homosexual was not a word when it was written. Some of the newer translations use the word homosexual.

Yes, when a person commits fornication they fall and they die. Sin is deadly. But a person must leave being upright and righteous to fall dead as stated in Pro 2:13, "Who leave the paths of uprightness to walk in the ways of darkness." They are upright before they fall.

A person must leave being upright to walk in the fallen state of sin. And the sin of fornication makes a spiritual darkness on earth. Today the darkness is everywhere and is the condition that is responsible for all our social ills.

God is truth, Jesus brings truth to earth, the Holy Spirit is the truth. They are all three truth and they are the same truth.

The Holy Spirit is not a person, but it is truth. When you have the Holy Spirit in you, you have the truth of God in you.

The truth will lead all people to God. Truth is sent to people to convince and to bring conviction to the sinner. When a person has the Holy Spirit, they have the truth within them making it possible to speak the truth. When a person departs from the truth they are profane, meaning unholy and they cannot speak the truth.

It is confusing to think of the Holy Spirit as a person. The Holy Spirit is the truth that can go everywhere. It can be spoken, written, go out on the radio and television and the internet. Yes, truth it does convict the sinner. It can go throughout the entire world.

Read again what you have written with the knowledge that the Holy Spirit is the truth of God.

Also in the OT laws. Leviticus 18:22 and Leviticus 20:13.

To properly define the Holy Spirit, as you know would take several pages & even then we would not do justice because of our limited understanding from the Word. So briefly, without giving references at this stage, the Holy Spirit is:

a. a Person within the Triune God: proved by His Names, His Characteristics, His Works & His association with the Father & the Son.

b. He proceeded from the Godhead eternally & without any dividing or change in God's Nature.

c. He was involved in Creation, the Virgin Birth, in Christ's Life, Ministry, Death & Resurrection & also for the sake of mankind (convicting, regenerating, indwelling, baptizing, sealing).

d. He gave gifts to God's children & fills them so they can lead God-honouring lives with joy & in power. In so doing, He teaches us, guides us, gives assurance & comfort, & helps us to pray.

e. He came upon the men of old (including Christ's disciples) in measure, according to their appointment, but now, in fulness to reside in all of God's children.

f. He inspired the writing of God's Word & leads us into God's Truth & even today empowers men to preach the Gospel & to stand for Christ even in the face of death.

And so "what is the Spirit's Power?" As can be gleaned from the incomplete list above, the Holy Spirit is the very Presence of God sent to the world to bring conviction to the hearts of men of their sin & their separation from God and to indwell every one who has come to God in faith because of His Son. To us, we have all the resources from God to live a victorious life, using His Gifts for the blessing of His people, having the power & joy to serve God, to withstand Satan & his followers around us & to increase our faith when we falter. Yet He is so often stifled in His Work in us, because of unconfessed sin & by taking our eyes off Jesus & looking to the world or within ourselves. But "greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the World".

Well, it is known Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed for being "abominable" with homosexuality and other things I would believe. As you can read Genesis 19 where two Angels of the Lord came to save Lot and the men of the city came so they may "know" them. As he offered his two virgin daughters to them so they would do nothing to the Angels.

Also in Romans 1:25-28 it is spoken of. Hope that helps.

And your other question, where in the Bible does it speak of the difference in the races, and race mixing. You want find race in the Bible as used today, you would find Jews, Gentiles, the heathens, the nations, the church, ect.. God called Abraham out of the land of his father and made a nation out of him, they became the jews, that was their beginning, every one else was Gentiles, Those who are born again out of these two groups and baptized by the Holy Spirit into one body is called the Church. Israel was set apart so God could Demonstrate his Glory, relationship, Holiness, ect.. to all nations. They was not to be joined in marriage and be separated from all nations or they would end up forsaken their God and serve the other nations Idols, no race the way we see it today. However racism probably was active in the world then as well because pride existed, but that's not the focus of mature Christians, We leave that up to the world and we be about our fathers business.

Isaiah 11:1-5 Is a prophecy about Christ. Verse 2 is the prophecy of the seven spirits being poured out on Christ. This happened at Christ baptism of John. This is also the prophecy spoken of in

Revelation 4:5 .....which are the seven Spirits of God.

"don't call me good", once again you misquote the Lord Jesus. He didn't say "don't", he did ask "why", as the verse you listed plainly shows.

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." 2Timothy 2:15

Isaiah 11:1,2: "And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots: And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD".

You probably know that this chapter is the prophecy from Isaiah about the coming Christ Jesus. Jesus, in His Humanity, takes His descendancy back to King David, to David's father, Jesse & all the way back to Adam. So, Isaiah sees this aspect of the Messiah, the Branch coming out of David's tree. Verse 2 onwards gives us a description of what Isaiah saw concerning Him: the God's Spirit would be upon Him (for His Holiness & Power in Ministry); Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel & Might would be also be the hallmarks of Messiah (& we know how well he spoke to all people, understanding the core of their needs & in wisdom & authority refuted the most intellectual of them); & holding God in continual awe & reverence. Verses 4 & 5 also speak of His acts of Righteousness.

As an addition to the above, we might think that Isaiah only saw the Messiah as a Man sent from God, as many even today believe him to be (i.e. the Son of God only but not God the Son). But Isaiah did see the Messiah as God coming in the flesh ( Isaiah 9:6,7 (His Name will be called The Mighty God & the Everlasting Father); 7:14 (where Immanuel means 'God is with us'); & 40:3, where John the Baptist would cry out, "Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for OUR GOD"). I hope this helps you in understanding this very important prophetical Book.

Hello, I'm not sure what you mean by "incomplete." The Bible can't possibly cover every detail that happened in every person's life in history. If you notice, human beings were created in only 1 verse. Obviously we are extremely complex beings, so a lot more could have been said about it, but wasn't. The Bible also never talks about people using the restroom, although we can assume they probably did. There were probably many times people ate, bathed, and did all kinds of things not covered. No other book covers every detail either, because its too much info. So, the Bible didn't happen to inform us how people got to Nod. Some think Eve bore more children with her sons and made Nod. Others think that God created more people, but just don't know the timing. It seems fairly safe to say that Adam and Eve were the first beings, then after things went south with them, it's possible other things occurred that weren't documented.

You're correct - my Bible too gives the word as "fell". But why I say that 'fell' means 'died' is because of the longer account of this tragedy in Numbers 25:1-9. You will see it there. Of course, from your reading you will also notice the difference in the number who 'died': in Numbers it is given as 24,000, whereas Paul indicates 23,000. In case you raise this matter with me, this 'discrepancy' has been explained by the fact that in Numbers, the total number of people killed is given (i.e. 23,000 killed by the plague & the other 1,000 killed by Phinehas). But if you need another option to this: the number killed may have been somewhere between 23,000 & 24,000, in which case Paul uses the former & in Numbers, the latter is given. I think this last option deals with the 'discrepancy' better.

So, they were certainly not "upright before they fell" - they were 'downright bad folk' whom God severely dealt with.
