When speaking of us humans, evil began in Eden. The tree of good and evil was in Eden. Adam and Eve departed from God to follow Satan. They committed evil. What evil did they commit that would result in God leaving them? How does one depart from God? In Psalms 34:14 we are instructed to "Depart from evil, and do good..." If a person departs from evil, what are they departing from?

I believe humankind needs a better definition of evil. When we know what evil removed us from Eden, we have the knowledge of how to bring heaven to earth.

When all other verses fed away for a while from memories, when I am severely in pain and hurt and life seems so unfair and bitter and unfairness takes place and my emotion and accusations takes over and the devil thinks he has won, and I feel as I have failed somehow and hopelessNess comes and there is nothing can be done about the situation, I still cling to my LORD whatever the case. I tell the devil that if God is with me who on earth can be against me? I remind him that He is obviously a loser and that I have the ALMIGHTY God in me who is so much greater and that I am not supposed to trust humans but just love them while I just TRUST my LORD to the end for He is the one who is able to get me to the place where eyes has not seen not ears have not heard.........

I have no certificates, no decorative documentation in the ministry for God. But what good will a document do my soul? I have no high, nor formal, title: I am simply "Sister Genny". But who can and entitle me, in God gospel? Man's highest certificates, in ministry, is as null, void, powerless and frivolous as his highest title in the same. His highest wisdom in the most that he can teach you, which is the least that you could learn from God. So, if man's highest degree is lower than God's nursery school, where will the man go after he graduated from the highest ordination given by man? Who will be left to teach him, once he graduates? Only God. But what good is it to graduate at man's highest class, if it is less than God's kindergarten; who will you turn to that can teach wisdom that is too high for man: Job 28:12-13 (:27-28); 1 Cor. 2:4-8. No certificate should dare to claim that a person has reached any level in the wisdom of God, for God wisdom is not subjected to human levels; but it is, to the contrary, limitless. If those highly decorated Christians would search the scriptures they will find that God will give them His own wisdom, simply because they nagged Him for it, if for no other reason. Lu 11:8;18:2-8; Jam 1:5. The worst part about it is that, you don't actually have to know God to earn a certificate that serves as evidence that you know about God. You can get a certificate off of the internet from a course that was designed by a minister, you may never know, teaching you about a God you don't have to know in order to earn the certificate. Anyone would rather you meet them before you go around trying to tell people about them: How much more must God want to be known by those who have a certificates concerning Him, but do not know Him? There are no temporary Christians.At the point you trust Christ to have paid for your sins,you are forgiven of all sins,past,present and future.I liken salvation to a person who is crossing a busy road.At some point between the curbs the person is suddenly hurled forward and out of the road.When they turn back to see what has happened,they find that someone has pushed them out of the path of a vehicle that would surely have killed them.Where they were,is the body of that person who gave his life for them.Recognizing that person was gracious to them and saved them,they want to know more about him and revere him in their life as gratitude for what he did.There is no doubt in their mind about what it was he did for them,as the experience was real for them.Despite their recount of the event,other people who never had that happen to them,question the verity of the story.It is not until they themselves are saved,no longer between the curbs on a road,can they lend some understanding to the truth of the story.

There are two judgements from God in the future.One is at the Great White Throne,where unsaved people answer to God for the life they lived.( Revelation 20:11-15)The other judgement is for Christians,called the Judgement Seat of Christ.( 2Corinthians 5:8-11 & 1Corinthians 3:9-15)) At that judgement,Christ will examine the" works"of believers and reward them accordingly.Saved people,in their desire to repay God for salvation,will do many things,only some of which are indeed what God wants them to do.Other things are their own works,which will never measure up to the standard of,being of God,and the rebuke of Christ then,is gladly received,only this once,and never again to be judged.Corinthians 6:1"We then,as workers together with him,beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain. In vain,would be to minimize Christ's work,by adding yours to it so as to save your soul.

I think you're referring to Isaiah 8:19. If so, maybe if I gave a transliteration of that verse:

'When those that come to you & suggest you enquire after those who consult the spirit world: to the wizards who say they have the ability to see into the future or babble sounds imitating the spirits. Reject them. Shouldn't you rather be seeking after the Living God to worship Him & get His counsel? Does it make sense for the living to seek help & advice from those who have died?

I realize this is a loose & long translation, but I've written it so you can get a better understanding.

This would be an extremely difficult case to build as Paul is simply not specific to what was given him to keep him from becoming conceited after those mighty revelations.

I have always tended to believe that his eyes caused him a lot of bother. Whether he had first acquired some disease that eventually affected other parts of his body in the long term & especially his eyes, one can't be certain. Anyway, I'll give you some other Scriptures for you to consider (not in any order):

a. Romans 16:22 (Paul was the author, but Tertius his scribe possibly because of Paul's vision).

b. 1 Corinthians 16:21 & 2 Thessalonians 3:17 (Paul managed to sign off with his name while others helped with the writing of the epistle).

c. Galatians 6:11 (Paul wrote in large letters, rather than writing a 'long letter', as he didn't have a scribe to help him).

d. Galatians 4:13 (Paul preached to the Galatians first, possibly because of the region's higher altitude may have helped with a disease, e.g. malaria which left untreated, might have caused eye problems) & then in Galatians 4:15 (that the Galatians would have given him "their eyes" for his need).

e. Acts 23:3-5 (Paul insulted the High Priest not recognizing him, or as some suppose, that Paul was saying "I didn't expect a High Priest (of his calibre) to order me beaten").

Sorry, I'm directing this response towards Paul's eyes, as I feel that this was where his infirmity was. But of course, no one can say with full certainty.

2 Kings 23:1 doesn't have that phrase in there - maybe you're thinking of verses 4 & 5. If so, the 'host of heaven' meant the sun, moon, planets & stars that Judah began worshipping. They had gone away from the Lord & behaved as the heathen around them did, worshipping in the groves & burning incense to Baal.

If you're thinking of Ruth's first husband who died, his name was Mahlon (see Ruth 4:10). But she later married Boaz ( Ruth 4:13) who served as a kinsman-redeemer to keep the family line going in Israel.

I do agree with Adam over many things he's shared & respect him as a dear brother in Christ, but on this point, as he knows well, I would differ. And so feel that you should have another side to consider.

My view of the true Christian's walk is not one of uncertainty, allowing for the possibility to veer off the path leading to Heaven, whether to exit off completely or to bring ourselves back onto the correct path. I understand, that to be a Christian has & will always be a work of God. If we fail to 'stay on the true path' preferring to exit off it, then we haven't been saved through the Cross, that we haven't come in true repentance & full faith but for some other reason (of which there are many). So the Scripture that tells us, "he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved." ( Mt 24:13), is of course the ultimate proof of one's salvation but not to cause us to wonder whether we're actually saved in the meanwhile.

One of the greatest deceptions in Christendom is that of what all other religions preach: i.e. 'one cannot be certain of being acceptable to God & only the final day will reveal this'. The power of the Cross gives a sinner both a complete forgiveness of sins & also a certainty of Heaven - there is no possibility that whom God forgives, saves, seals & accepts as His very own, will ever be lost back into the world, nor would the Christian ever contemplate leaving what God has done in him. If the Christian should err into sin, he knows it & turns away - no Christian can live a life of sin - he would have to do a re-examination of his life or if he continues in disobedience, that he be "delivered unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus." ( 1 Corinthians 5:5).

Scriptures are numerous which assure a Christian of the certainty of his salvation: not what he has done to get to God, but what God has done to secure a lost life. 1 John 5:13 is the surety we have to always belong to Him.

Shem, you've given a valid example in Acts 9:7 and 22:9. I've read this before, & not wanting to make excuses to justify the Word's inerrancy, could it be that in verse 7, those who were with Saul only heard a sound & not the words, whereas in verse 9 the same thing is said, that they did not hear the voice (the speech)? So, in both instances, it was only a sound that was heard.

Since the same Greek word for 'voice' (phonos) is used, its meaning can apply to both an intelligible voice or a sound. Then look at 1 Kings 19:12, "And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice." Again, no intelligible language was heard by Elijah, but a 'sound of quiet stillness'. The Hebrew word is 'qo-wl', meaning, 'a sound, a voice', an exact equivalent to the Greek. Therefore, I have no problem with this apparent difference, though I'm always interested to learn what others find in the Bible that could be a problem. Maybe you could throw me another one for my study - but please, not a hundred of them.

By being truly sorry for the sins you have committed, repenting of those sins, and being baptized! Read John 3 in KJV, it will explain.

There is no such thing as once saved always saved, this is an excuse people uses to try and cover up their sinful ways! If you are a born again Christian, repented of your sins, and been baptized then you are saved, but if you sin and do not repent and are truly sorry for that sin, you are a backslider. I see a lot of coverups and excuses about the Word of God on here for sin: Jesus don't take excuses he takes a blood-bought church that's unspotted and without sin. Put your faith in no man word, go to Jesus because he is the way, the truth and the life!

Satan is the great counterfeiter, and as such he imitates Jesus in every way.

The Bible does not stand as a perfect or scientific document. Just speaking on KJV 1611, it is a sloppy manuscript, littered with topical flaws, contradictions and inconsistencies. To even notice the errors, you would have to read corresponding passages over and over, and over to compare and patch them together like a game of "concentration".

One example for the thick is Paul on his way to Damascus:

Acts 9:7 And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man.

Acts 22:9 And they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid; but they heard not the voice of him that spake to me.

So, what is it, huh? Did they hear the voice or not? I can do this all day with hundreds of verses that infuriate me.

As far as the earths shape is concerned, it is definitely spherical, like the other planets/moons. Though they reach for the stars, I will bring them down to the pit. Amos 9:2 LEO, 400 miles up is our limit, then we hit the firmament hard, keeping mankind "in". Space programs like governments are shrouded in mystery, deception, lies and fraud. NASA could prove the earths shape, but prefer to stoke the division of uncertainty. Did you see earths curvature last year when SpaceX posted the mission video? What about the earth casting a "round" shadow on the moon during an eclipse? Plato and Socrates saw the curved shadow and determined the earth was round.

Hi Betty, many people have different opinions on this subject, but really, no one's opinion matters. You should just read God's word directly and pray to God for understanding. He wants you to seek Him and He will reward you through that effort. Ask for wisdom and He will grant it.

I will offer my opinion. Even in the days when Paul wrote the letters there was confusion, which is why Paul wrote so much about the subject of salvation, works, and grace. People often take one portion then draw assumptions, while forgetting the rest. It all needs to be taken as a whole for a proper perspective, in my opinion. Either extreme side can be abused- someone who claims he's saved may intentionally sin and claim it's ok, which is contrary to what Jesus said. Jesus, however, also got upset at the pharisees who were extremely law abiding, while missing the whole point about loving God and loving others, so they were wrong too.

I might also challenge the assumption of someone being 'saved'. Are Christians truly saved now before judgment day? I think people are judged on judgment day THEN saved. What is a Christian? A Christ-follower. What does that mean? It's an action- a verb- to actively follow Christ. That involves movement, growth, change. The Bible is filled with challenges for ourselves to constantly improve our Christian walk. So, I look it as someone driving down a freeway heading in a certain direction- toward Jesus. We may hit bumps in the road, we may swerve, we may even get a flat tire and stop temporarily, but if we still continue toward Jesus then we are a real Christian with our sins covered by grace. However, if we as a Christian get deceived and exit off, turn around and start heading the opposite direction to the world of sin and evil, and intentionally denounces the faith, then I no longer believe a Christian is covered by grace or saved.
