Bruce, just further to Rob's good explanation, I likewise see the Spirit's testimony to us as a calm, peaceful confirmation to our hearts, but also one that was experienced by Jesus' disciples after Jesus rose from the grave. You can read about it in Luke chapter 24, but specifically as Jesus & they sat for a meal & when He prayed & broke the bread, the disciples eyes were opened & they knew Him. Then they said to one another in verse 32: "Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?"

So I see that as the disciples eyes & hearts were opened to the presence of the risen Jesus in their midst, so do we who have the indwelling Spirit of Christ in us, have our hearts, not only opened in response, but also "burn within us": showing the manifest confirmation by God that by His Spirit, He lives in us & will work in us to accomplish His Will. When you read & study the Scriptures or enter into a deep sincere prayer-time with God, His Spirit becomes very active & your "heart" will burn with joy, with anticipation, a sense of fulfilment, of wonder, of hope, of longing, never wanting that fellowship with your Father to cease. All these 'feelings' you sense in your spirit constantly confirm that you are indeed a child of the King, as God's Spirit speaks to you.

Saved, sanctify, or set apart means that one puts on the armor of God. The armor is God's laws, statutes, and commandments in which one applies to their life therefore saving you from the evils and wickedness of the world. Doing these laws, statutes and commandments will bring upon blessings and the ultimate reward, eternal life.

Levitcus 20:7 reads Sanctify yourselves therefore, be ye holy: for I Am the LORD which sanctify(save, set apart) you.

james 1:25...But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.

john 3:15-21...15That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

16For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

18He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

19And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

20For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

21But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

To clarify, are you suggesting that there is no God in Heaven except Jesus, Who is God? Or, maybe that Jesus is Our God, so the God in Heaven is no longer our God? It would be difficult to prove that only Jesus (as God) is presently in Heaven.

To do so, then a lot of other Scriptures would have to be negated, when Jesus says: John 16:16.17 "I go to the Father"; John 20:17 "I ascend to my Father...and to My God"; Hebrews 8:1, 10:12, Mark 16:19, Romans 8:34, 1 Peter 3:22 "at the right Hand of God" & many more.

I earnestly hope that I have misunderstood your comments as the abundance of Scripture is given for us to know that there is still a God in Heaven & His Word made flesh has now ascended victorious & glorious, seated at His Father's right Hand, receiving the worship as One inclusive in the eternal Godhead.

You said: "The mystery of the Trinity, then, is not in God dividing himself into 2 or 3 separate parts. The mystery is in the way Jesus speaks to us." With the Scriptures before us, and they don't lie, the "mystery of the Trinity" in part, is that the Eternal God has in His Love, chosen to give of Himself as the only Sacrifice that would satisfy His demands of justice & redemption. An unblemished animal was a temporal covering for sin which could never remove the guilt & consequences of sin. God had to provide His Own Lamb, which He did ( Isaiah 53:7, John 1:29), which no animal or man could fulfil. God the Father did not leave Heaven to accomplish this task but He sent forth His Word clothed in flesh to do so ( John 1:1-14) & called this Word, His beloved Son. God also sent forth His Spirit to empower His Son for service & power to all who repent & call upon Him that they too may be one as They are One ( John 17:21-26).

God cannot be divided into three parts, else we might conclude, three gods. He has revealed Himself in His Fullness, in tri-unity, without which He could not be the God He reveals to us & what He accomplishes for us. Blessings.

    That's a very honest question , and a very good one .

Only God can give this too any person .

It's not a audible voice , but God can do that if he chooses but so can other spirits , it is not normally that way .

I liken it to a calm deep peaceful sense that I and God are one in a spiritual way , I'm not claiming to be God . But my experience is a experience that knows His presence with me in a very real way and it can grow stronger . Or get weaker too .It is extremely assuring and worth more than anything this world can give . God alone gives it to us and it's very real as God is . Spend time in the word of God and listen to Gods voice in the scriptures. A great place to start , prayer and quiet ness will help much .

I heard of people in prayer for hours but Reading the word of God in meditation feeds our inner man . Most important. May this help some ! God bless you as you seek him .

It could also be we need to be converted or sin in our life , there is no fellowship with God if we have sin in our life .

David said search my heart o God if there be any wicked way in me . If so repent and turn from it seeking Gods help to live above it . We must have a clean heart , we are to be Gods temple , we can not defile it with sin in any way .

I get confused and find it hard to understand The Judgements. White Throne, etc. Judgement when they open the Lamb's Book of Life. The judgement when those saved received their rewards. Can you be Saved and still receive no rewards? I also do not understand the 1,000 year reign. I am 76 years old and really get confused on the end times.. I appreciate any help that you can give me the simplifies it. God Bless You For your Help
  • Encouraging Yourself - In Reply on Philippians 3:2 - 5 years ago
I encourage myself frequently by listening to Billy Graham conferences on Youtube.

He was the loudest voice in my generation.

He just heralded the Word, giving no heed to the nay-sayers. Thousands came forward in his meetings to be born again.

He never minced words or apologized, for the Word (who is Jesus), that he preached.

Jesus is bigger than all of our doubts. If the preacher isn't preaching Christ, then it's another gospel.

    The gospel is the Virgin birth of Jesus Christ (Messiah);

    His sinless life

His crucifixion on the Cross And death for all of mankind's sins

    His glorious resurrection to life

If we know that much, then we know enough to help someone else be saved; born again. John 3 has all the info to learn.

  • Can People in Heaven See Earth Events - In Reply on Proverbs 29:2 - 5 years ago
"Yes, the Bible assures us that Heaven is a place of absolute happiness and joy and peace-far greater than anything we'll ever experience right now. The Bible says, "Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ" ( Ephesians 1:3).

Do those in Heaven know what's happening on earth? The Bible doesn't answer all our questions about Heaven-but it does indicate that those who have already entered Heaven may be aware of events on earth. The book of Hebrews, for example, pictures life as a great arena, with those who have gone before us cheering us on in our daily spiritual struggles (see Hebrews 12:1).

Once when Jesus' appearance was changed and His heavenly glory shone through, Moses and Elijah spoke with Him about events on the earth (see Luke 9:30-31).

Does this mean people in Heaven are sad when evil seems to be winning the day?

No, not at all. For one thing, they (unlike us) see the whole picture; they know that even in the midst of life's heartaches and trials, God is still working behind the scenes. They also know that Satan is a defeated foe, and some day all evil will be destroyed and Christ will rule in perfect peace and justice."

    Comment by Billy Graham

Who better to answer this question? I've seen the scriptures mentioned. I always think of them cheering us onward. To avoid pity parties with myself. To never doubt what the Word teaches. Mishael
  • Rev Autrey on 1 Corinthians 1:26 - 5 years ago
The sin of the Christian Church is it's refusal to say Jesus is it's God, the very one who made us and keeps us alive. Jesus said it like this in John 8:24: "You are from below; I am not. That is why I said that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am who I say I am, you will die in your sins."

John says it like this in John in John 1:1, "... and he was God." And Thomas said to Jesus in John 20:28: "My Lord and my God."

Then Jesus said to Thomas, "You are blessed because you have seen me, but more blessed are those who haven't seen me but believe anyway."

As you can see then, Jesus is our God, the one who came and died for the sins of the world, even if the Christian Church wont say so. And this is a sad commentary on the human race. This means that, even today, we we are ignoring the clear warning David gives us in Psalm 14: "Only the fool says in his heard that (Jesus) is not God." And David is a man after Jesus' own heart."

See, David is preaching the Gospel ahead of time, long before it took place, that the Lord he knew as YHWH God in the Old Testament is the New Testament Jesus. This is why David says in verse 7: "Oh that salvation would come from Mount Zion and rescue Israel. For when the Lord rescues his people they will shout for joy." And salvation did come from Mount Zion, for this is the place where Jesus died on the cross to pay for our sins.

So this is my proclamation: Jesus is the One True God, all others are false.

See, God is a single being/a single person like us. He has to be if we are made in his image. The mystery of the Trinity, then, is not in God dividing himself into 2 or 3 separate parts. The mystery is in the way Jesus speaks to us.

In other words he speaks to us like this: "I am Jesus," "The Father sent me," "Receive ye the Holy Spirit."

    Stay Safe,

    2 Timothy Chapter 2

23 But foolish and unlearned questions AVOID, knowing that they do gender strifes.

24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,

    25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

My Comment: We try patiently to show in scripture; commentaries by scholars; and our own testimonies: to answer questions that are brought to us.

We are answering the call in John 21:15-17.

Feed my Sheep. Feed my Lambs.

    Ephesians 4:11

That's what we do, despite the accusations and opposition. Jesus did not say, go ye and persecute the Body of Christ.

    It's said in 2 Timothy 4 v 3,4

That people will not endure sound doctrine but will turn to teachers that basically tell them what they want to hear so they can indulge in their lists and have salvation too .

It's said in the gospels by Jesus that straight is the gate and narrow is the way , but wide and easy is the way to destruction and Many or the majority follow it . Because they don't want the hard path , deception is so sweet at first . That's what temptation was to eve ! But we know what happened , they lost their paradise .

The purpose is that if just one sinner repents ! Heaven rejoices .

If they all take the wide road , no rejoicing .

    1 Thessalonians 1.8,9

Here we see the Apostle Paul an example of true leadership , expressing his genuine care for those in Thessalonians churches .

Verse 9 he labored so that no one could accuse him of personal gain , made his own way , not even appearing to be taking advantage of them , which was not the case in reality . This is very good fruit .

Never give money to anyone for their service to God , it makes them look bad . And if it's their motive they are bad . It's not wrong to help people but be careful on how it's done . Pure motive in the work of the gospel is not at all concerned about money or gain. God supplies .

It can even be a temptation sometimes to except gain for doing Gods work , discernment is needed .
  • Rob on Ezra 1 - 5 years ago
Beware , many commentary's if you check out their verses do not apply to the subject but are out of context . Some people think that using many verses makes their view valid , on the contrary it's just something not worth reading .

I recently ask for A single absolute solid verse on the Pretrib Rapture event , they went to some google website provided tons of commentary and some verses , yet not a single verse in context to the subject . These people don't know what they are reading or I understand the Bible . Miss applicant is false . Why do they do it ? Trying to get a following , maybe for personal gain . Never give money to anyone doing this . Is wrong to support such activities in any case . So many of these tv evangelist are just in it for the money , a motive for getting a following .

You are much better off reading the Bible in prayer to the Lord for understanding. You learn bit by bit so be patient , don't buy the lies from false teachers .
  • Stephen Levi on Ezra 1 - 5 years ago
I have read through a lot of the post made here and most everything

you all have stated is outright incorrect.

Very little of it is in the truth of God.

For example if you commit a sin you are a servant to sin.

There is no exceptions to it. NONE!

John 8:34 Jesus answered them, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

Do you believe the children of God commit sin and are the servants of sin?

If you do then not only are you a child of the devil but you are a deceived child of the devil.

And if you willfully commit a sin there is sacrifice for it.

There is no exceptions to it. NONE!

Hebrews 10:26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth,

there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins.

Do you believe the children of God commits sin willfully after that they have received the knowledge of the truth?

If you do then not only are you a child of the devil but you are a deceived child of the devil.

And if you sin you do not have the Holy Spirit.

    You have the unholy spirit.

Hence why they call it the Holy Spirit for it is HOLY!

    Sin is not HOLY!

    Born Again Sinners

    Disobedient Believers of God

The Christian world is full of them. What do you think is going to happen to them in the end?

If it were possible would any of you want to cease from committing any sin?

Mark 9:23 Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

SO WHY ARE YOU STILL CONTINUING IN YOUR SINS?
  • Chris - In Reply on Proverbs 29:2 - 5 years ago
This was the very thing on my mind yesterday, Matthew. With all that's going on here on Earth & as we rapidly head towards a major upheaval, if not the advent of the anti-Christ, I was thinking of those redeemed from the Earth & their view of anything outside of Heaven.

I can't give any specific Scriptures to help understand this as the Bible doesn't generally deal with departed souls having any interest or view of earthly matters. We do have a couple of other separate portions as seen in 1 Samuel chapter 28 (some see this as the real Samuel being called up, others see it as an impersonating spirit) & Luke 16:19-31, where the rich man in Hades has concern for his maybe equally sinful brothers. But how these two portions of Scripture help in knowing whether our departed loved ones have knowledge of Earth's affairs is uncertain. Maybe, they will look keenly as to how the Word/prophecies of the Lord are being accomplished on the Earth as declared by the Lord.

But to spend their time focused on worldly events & family/friends on Earth instead of worshipping of the Lord, delighting in His Presence & Glory & attending to Heaven's activities, may be like the earthling with his face buried in his phone oblivious to what's happening around him. Can't see that happening in Heaven. Just my musings.
  • Chris - In Reply on Revelation 12 - 5 years ago
Just to add to Adam's great word of encouragement to you: your declaration of your love to the Lord is very real as is your grief over this besetting sin that has its hold on you. All I can say is, you're not going to Hell as you have laid your heart bare to the Lord over this matter & are constantly in prayer about it, demonstrating your sorrow. Those destined for Hell are those who reject God's Love in Jesus & those who give no regard to committing sin as if God doesn't notice. You are well aware of it & troubled by it & that is the work of the Spirit in you.

God sees the anguish of our spirits over sin - that's why He sends His Spirit to be in you - and God doesn't demand our correct articulating of our needs or what words we use in prayer. God the Spirit & God the Father, are One - they are not independent of each other - what One feels so does the Other; what One knows so does the Other. His help may come just in an instant, or it may be through another person or another means, or it might even be what He puts in your heart to do. Look for it, persist in reading the Word, using the Spirit's Sword against the enemy of our souls, avoid the thoughts or actions, or places that might lead you to that area of weakness causing sin.

It is through our hatred of sin, our resisting the Devil, our avoiding of his traps, that we find the Power of God into victory. Some believe that to just rest back, do nothing about sin, & wait for God's Help is the way to victory. This never works - we have to be proactive in dealing with sin. Even if that one awful sin is finally dealt a death blow, we know the father of sins is not far away to bring on another. So dear sister, be watchful & know you're in a battle, but you are not alone in it - your Lord is engaged with you in all that afflicts you.
