You can get many views on this matter, so you need to read the portion you have quoted, as well as 1 Cor 11:3 onwards (specifically on the relationship between the Godhead and mankind). Bearing in mind also that women played a very important part in the Church & most definitely as mothers in raising godly children (e.g. Timothy). Based on what the Scriptures say on this subject & without any further details elsewhere, it seems that apostle Paul does require the silence of women in the Church in regards to teaching. Of course, to sing and pray is allowed, but teaching is the responsibility of men. I know women now pastor & lead & blessings have flowed; but there is a biblical warrant here.

A disciple is a follower of Christ. An apostle is someone who was sent out on a commission. All true believers who are following Christ are called disciples. There are no more apostles today because the qualification of an apostle was that he had to be there from the time of John's baptism and had to be an eyewitness to the resurrection of Christ. Therefore, we still have disciples today, but no apostles.
  • Chris - In Reply on Daniel 4:7 - 6 years ago
To add: Jesus' apostles also were filled with the Holy Ghost so that with their lives and ministry it was said, "that they turned the world (sic) upside down" ( Acts 17:6). Whereas His disciples were empowered at special times (when they were to told to go out and heal the sick, raise the dead, etc. ( Mt 10:8). Today, there are no apostles in the strictest sense of the word (some would disagree, of course), since we have not seen the Lord, but we are His disciples as we learn from His Spirit and do what He asks of us.

That's a wonderful testimony, Gina. "Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, saith the LORD of Hosts" ( Zech 4:6). This verse reminds us that when we come to the end of ourselves and all seems hopeless in life, it can only be the Lord of Glory Who intervenes, and His Christ, Who intercedes on our behalf. You have rightly given Him all the Glory. Walk on in faith and in the Power of the Lord.

the spirit of infirmity and death, in the Name of Jesus and by the Word of his authority and by the power of the Holy Spirit that those evil spirits leave and go into outer darkness! Ask God to send angels to the 4 corners of your house to prevent re-entry. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you so you can pray & pray for others. Stand strong in God. Study armor of God. Do it till the HS gives his Peace to your heart. Now call your Church & ask them to pray. Then sanitize your Dads home; everything. Pray in the Spirit. Speak out healing scriptures. A disciple is anyone who has believed on Jesus's Word and has followed Him; from time then to now.

Apostles actually saw Jesus in his ministry.

It's logical that spirit beings have a higher mode of transportation and communication than we do. What Ezekiel saw is closely akin to what John saw in Revelation. They travel much faster than light speed for the human eye can't see them unless they slow their physics down to less than light speed. Think about it! Their technology is much more advanced than ours. For instance, the universe is 13-14 billion years old, but it's 40 something billion light years across. Spirit physics is DIFFERENT. When God spoke the universe into being, He used His undiminished energy to expand it, that also explains dark (unseen) energy and dark matter. Give credit to Him. Satan created evil, sin and death!

The Son is subject to the Father ,for the Son sent by the Father in His (the Fathers ) name.
The Spirit is subject to the Father, for the Spirit is sent by the Father in the Sons name.
The Spirit is subject to the Son as well as to the Father , for the Spirit is is sent by the Son as well as by the Father
Jesus breathed unto them and said unto them "Receive ye the Holy Ghost"
    God the Father purposed redemption.
    God the Son secured redemption.
    God the Spirit applies redemption.

Not necessarily demons but can be chosen of the angelic realm. Both have the technology to have certain craft available. What John saw in Revelation is closely akin to what Ezekiel saw in chapter 1. How does God travel? Extremely faster than light and so do the spirit realm, that's why we don't see them unless they slow their spirit structure down to light speed or less

I am responding to the coments:"1Cor14 is all about spiritual gifts...." No, it is not. Paul is begging the church to follow that which is important: brotherly love, ie. the love of God and Unity. Am I to be so dotrinically correct and rigid that I forsake the commandments that Jesus left us with; to love the Lord my God and my brother as well. Self indulgence mascarading as correcting an error of doctrine is Satan's favorite trick. Why do I always have a comment and an opinion that MUST BE HEARD about everything? Especially something controversial like speaking it toungues. I am here to proclaim: "cut that off, grow this out, stop doing this, start doing that.." pride. 4bid not amen

  • Lucille on Revelation 14:3 - 6 years ago
Why is it that we do not hear about the seal of the living God? No one preaches on the topic. It is so important for the nation Israel yet no preachers in the West touch the subject. " ... And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea, Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads..." Only cults dapple with it.
  • Mark on Psalms 46 - 6 years ago
Bruce, I do appreciate your point about finding patterns where none exist but I think you dismiss this one too quickly. Shakespeare was a known writer at the time and it is possible he had something to do with the KJV translation of the bible. Perhaps this is his version of an "Easter Egg"? Yes, people try to make random correlations meaningful but that doesn't mean some correlations aren't actually revealing something interesting. I think one needs to look at the degrees of freedom needed for the explanation and context of the "coincidence" to separate random from intention. Age 46, Psalm 46, word 46 in and word 46 out spells the name of someone possibly working on the text? Not so random..

Glen, To love is the fruit of the spirit and also the fulfillment of the law... The gifts of the spirits are gifts given to us free and everyone regardless... There are those who believe the gifts have ceased.. Citing some references. It's arguable.

The main point is that the gifts are for building of the church... And the church is still work in progress so how do the gifts cease.. The adversary is still much more active than before so how and why should the gifts cease.. We need it more that ever for the battle ahead...
  • Michael on 1 Corinthians 14 - 6 years ago
Praise the Lord... We are on the same side. The gifts of the Holy Spirit are to be enjoyed. Although there are those who don't believe in that and therefore do not participate in its goodness... It doesn't stop Yeshshua to bless his people
  • Michael on 1 Corinthians 14 - 6 years ago
The whole idea that women were not to speak in church has been very controversial since the early church.

The truth is that Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ didn't forbid anyone not to teach whether male or female.. Factually more women ministered to Jesus than men did.. And there are so many examples of women teaching in the new testament..

So what my understanding is that this instruction was to a particular church which had a problem with women with "loud mouth" and orderliness..
