  • Rev. Tim George on Acts 1:11 - 11 years ago
The men of Galilee are gazing into heaven looking at Jesus as He is caught up into the clouds to be with the Father in glory, and while the disciples are looking the angels said, ye men, the same Jesus shall so descend from heaven in the clouds. The catching away of the saints, will be in the clouds, when Jesus shouts, at the last trumpet blast, the dead in Christ will rise first, then we who are alive and remain, shall be caught up to be with the Lord in the air. This is the secret coming of the Lord, and not the second coming, where He will be riding on the clouds, and all the tribes on earth will see Him. The secret coming, is when only the saints, those in the grave, and those living shall see Him.

Just to correct my comments it should be John 3:16 For God so love the world that he gave his only begotten Son he who believes in him will not be perish but have everlasting life. John 14:16 And i will pray to the Father and he shall give you another comforter that he may abide with you forever Amen and Praised God

Jesus himself is the word of God. Our heavenly manna is the word of God he who ates them will have eternal life and will be saved. Thanks to Jesus for his perfect obedience to the Father in fullfilling the scriptures and bringing the message to us in order for us to be save from the defeated enemy. John 14:16 For God so love the world that he gave his only begotten Son Jesus Christ he who believes in him will not be perish but have eternal life. God is so faithful to his promises that goodness and mercy will always follow us. We are now live because of his forgiveness. There is no other Jehovah Jireh - The Provider, Jehovah Rapha -The Healer, Jehovah Shalon - Our Peace. Thanks be to God and to Jesus for loving us unconditionally. Praised Jesus and thank him for he is worthy to be praised. Jesus loves you. Amen

They cast lot, a sort of taking a gamble and God approve it. Sometimes God give us free choice and then stamp His approval on it.

I want to be filled with doctrine because it comes from the Scripture and the Scriptures are Spirit Jn 6:63 and learning doctrine from those Spirit words will fill a Christian with the Spirit. Doctrine is important to God. Titus 2:1 But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine: 1 Timothy 1:3 As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine, 1 Timothy 1:10 For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine 1 Timothy 4:16 Take heed unto thyself, and unto the doctrine continue in them: for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee. 2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound DOCTRINE but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears

In the translators to the reader in the front of most King James Bibles a quote says "I do not admit that which thou bringest in of thine own head or store without Scripture. The quote on 3 9 2015 quotes no Scripture. Jesus is not a little g god, He is the Almighty Rev 1:8. Jesus name water baptism of Acts 2:38 saves on one today. That is before the church age doctrines were revealed to Paul see Eph chapter 3. They were allowed to be added to the Church vs 41 but Acts is a transitional book from the Law to grace. He allowed them in that way because the Kingdom Acts 1:6 was still being offered to Israel until the stoning of Stephen in chapter 7. Notice Acts 2:38 isn 't preached again. Peter himself by Acts 15 realizes the shift from law to grace in verses 9-11.
  • God's Woman- on Exodus 6 - 11 years ago
Upon reading this chapter, it appears that the context is the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt by the hand of Almighty God, through the efforts of Moses and Aaron. God wasn 't trying to convince Moses that His name was "Jehovah ", for He went on to say in the rest of the scriptures that I am the Lord. Throughout the old testament, God was known by "I AM ", and other names. God simply wanted Moses to know that he Aaron would not go to the Israelites Pharaoh in his own strength. The Almighty God doesn 't need any human to defend or to debate His name. He want humans to stop tripping over a name to repent, and to be baptized in the name of the Father God , Son Jesus Christ , and the Holy Ghost Spirit Power of God for the remission of sins Acts 1:8, 2:1-18 .Amen.

WE CAN ALL BE FILLED WITH POWER IF WE ARE WILLING TO SUBMIT. MOST PEOPLE WANT TO BE FILLED WITH DOCTRINE AND THEOLOGY WHICH CAN BE TWISTED TO CREATE ANY KIND OF PHILOSOPHY THEY WANT TO TEACH. I FIRMLY BELIEVE IN A LITERAL TRANSLATION NOT A THEOLOGICAL DISCORSE

Part 2 NENE. Now James is addressed to the twelve tribes. See verse 1. We know that there is a doctrinal change after Philemon because there is a distinguishing of Jews and gentiles again. Hence the twelve tribes. Under Paul's church age doctrine, there is no difference when you are saved Gal 3:28. James is addressed doctrinally to the Jews in the tribulation. See Revelation 7:4 for example. Now the Bible can 't contradict so we read in James 2:14 that justification is by works then in Romans 3:24,4:24, and 5:1 Justification by faith. Which is it? Paul is our spokesman for today Rom 11:15,16:4, 1Tim 2:7,2 Tim 1:11,2:7,etc. So for the church age justification is by faith alone Eph 2:8-9. After the church is caught out 1 Thess 4:16-18 the Holy Spirit will again deal much like the O.T. and salvation can be lost again and one must endure to be saved. See Matt 24:13, Heb 3:6,14, etc. You don 't have to endure to be saved in the church age, Christ will make sure you endure 1 Cor 1:8 and you are sealed Eph 1:18,4:30. Hope this helps.

NENE. All scripture is profitable. Meaning we can use it but doctrine is the first purpose of scripture. The Bible has proper divisions. You must listen to your spokesman for your day or you are applying someone else 's mail. Example, you don 't have to build an ark to save yourself and your family. You can eat pork today even though there were a group of people under the law who could not. You can apply many scriptures spiritually but not doctrinally. All scripture is for you profitably but not to you doctrinally.

In Acts 7: 51-60 is where Stephen was trying to tell everyone about the Lord and they stoned him to death cause he called them saying Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye. Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers: As of today to many people are listing to those that have no structure in there own lives but we have to be honest with ourselves first in order to get to God in truth. Acts 2:38-47 is really real it has been real for over 16 years in my life. After receiving the Holy Ghost I no longer smoke, use drugs or alcohol anymore! Hallelujah

Hello Jacob read James 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? not alone, Vs.18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. And yes the Bible does state that we shall live by faith but notice in Romans 1: 17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The JUST shall live by faith. The word JUST means the people of God and in Proverbs 11:7 When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish: and the hope of unjust men perisheth. UNJUST means people who do not walk with Jesus 2Peter 2:9 The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished: The Law was written for our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ and yes we are saved by grace after receiving the Holy Ghost. God Bless!

Hello John the upper room was a chosen place by Jesus himself read Acts 1:1-8 is where his chosen people who are sincere seeking him were to wait for the promise which is the Holy Ghost as you read Acts 2 on the day of Pentecost where every nationality was present this lets us know it 's for us today. I know without any doubt if you will find you a private place to pray to God and ask him to reveal himself to you as you read I promise he will show you more than you know already. God Bless You!
  • Jacob on Acts 1 - 11 years ago
You will follow Peter to hell fire if you are going by Acts 2 to get to heaven. That is a Jewish message to Jews with a Jewish baptism that John the Baptist preached. Peter never preached that same message again. And by chapter 15 Peter had realized that God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as he did unto us And put no difference between us and them, purifying their hearts BY FAITH. Acts is a transitional book from law to grace, from Jew to Gentile, form Peter to Paul. Don 't go to hell in Acts 2 when you can go to heaven in Romans 10:5.

  • Nene on Acts 1 - 11 years ago
Hello everyone as I was reading the comments it was very touching but what must be clearly understood is the saving message that was given to Peter by Jesus himself in Matt.16:18-19 the keys to the kingdom of heaven, now I don 't know about anyone else but I would rather be safe than sorry. After Jesus had spoken to Peter about the gates of hell shall not prevail against the Church in Matthew as read above scriptures was given. Myself I would follow Peter to see where, when and how those keys were going to be used. As in Acts 2:36-47 The Lord added to the Church daily such as should be saved. I received the Holy Ghost in April 17,1998 and it still works and I promise if you will just give God some of your time and find you a private place to pray and repent for all of your sins then ask God to fill you with the Holy Ghost and you will not regret it. God Bless everyone!

What that passage in Ephesians is talking about is there is only one saving faith, and Lord, and baptism. The baptism that places you into the body of Christ see Eph 1:22-23, is the baptism of the Spirit mentioned in 1 Cor 12:13. When trust the Gospel for us today mentioned in 1 Cor 15:1-4 you are placed into the body of Christ by the Holy Spirit and sealed unto the day of redemption Eph 4:30, 1:13.
  • Joni G on Acts 1 - 11 years ago
John 's baptism was for repentance whereas Acts 2:38 baptism was for the remission of sins and is still valid today. Yes, after we are born again, we are added to the kingdom. Colossians 2 explains baptism well, also. Yes, there were all Jews present on the Day of Pentecost. Jesus wanted the Gospel taken to the Jews first, then the Gentiles. The gospel is one. Ephesians talks about one faith, one Lord, one spirit one baptism. Make believers first, then baptize them. It is the height of absurdity to suggest the Acts 2:38 baptism is not used today. Philip would have corrected the eunuch, Hey man you believe, no need to be baptized. He did not. A deeper study is required. With much prayer.

Rev ch 21 v 14 talks of the 12 foundations and in them the names of the 12 apostles of the Lamb. So Acts ch 1 is so important because, as verses 21 and 22 prove, Paul cannot be an apostle as he did know Jesus and was NOT a witness to Him, so did NOT meet the essential requirements to be one. Matthias was chosen to replace Judas Paul also has no witness to verify the alleged encounter in the desert of which Jesus, Himself, warns us ie. false christs appearing in the desert. Matt 24 v 5 , v 26 and John 5 v 43 ! Jesus had said that no man would see Him again because He was returning to the Father..yet Paul is self-proclaimed and says he met Jesus and was the last to see Him. 1 Cor 9 v 1 and ch 15 v 8. Luke 24 v 51 tells us otherwise. Between Genesis and Revelation are many texts which point to Paul as being an imposter and Acts ch 1 proves this to be true. Paul 's confusion has caused almost the whole church to follow him rather than Jesus, despite Jesus ' telling us that He, alone, is our Rabbi Matt ch 23 v 8 and 10..and that we should follow Him Paul contradicts Jesus over major issues eg the Sabbath and the law and grace etc ....far too much to write about here - but I would be pleased to add much much more !!!
