You have to get the Kingdoms right. The Kingdom of heaven can suffer violence and the violent can take it by force see Matt 11:12. The Kingdom of God is entered by the new birth upon believing on Jesus Christ by the gospel revealed to Paul and it is found laid out in 1 Cor 15:1-4. Paul was BORN before his water baptism see 1 Cor 15:8. And Ananias called him BROTHER Saul in Acts 9:17 before water baptism in verse 18. There are no Christians in Acts 2. That term doesn 't even show up until Acts 11:26. Those saved before the gospel of the Grace of God were added to the Church because the N.T. had not been written and the mystery was not yet revealed to the apostle Paul. You can 't be saved by Acts 2:38 today. That 's the way to hell. You are saved by obeying the gospel found in 1 Cor 15:1-4. Rom 16:26 says its the OBEDIENCE OF FAITH. Rom 10:16 But they have not all OBEYED the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath BELIEVED our report?

Deaon, Jude Judas of Mark 6 was not the same person as Judas Iscariot. That Judas was the son of Simon and was from Kerioth.
  • Joni G on Acts 1 - 11 years ago
Deaon, according to Mark 6:3, Judas and James were brothers of Jesus. Judas, also called Jude wrote the book of Jude.

judas the brother of james was he a brother of jesus?

From old testament times, God wanted us to love Him as much as He loved us. I love Deuteronomy 30:6. God was talking to the Israelites here but He also wants our hearts circumsized to love Him. I was looking up kingdom in my concordance and Jesus used the word malkuth probably since He spoke in Aramic, not Greek. The Greek word for kingdom is basileia. Jesus spoke of a radical transformation of our hearts spiritually after we became part of the kingdom after being saved. So amazing and beautiful! Acts 8:12. Although we weren 't disciples of Christ and walked with Him, isn 't it wonderful we have His Holy Word to read, study and learn! Praise God!

I wonder why Paul when retelling his story in Acts 22:16 said that he was told by Aninias to arise and be baptized, calling on His Jesus name? The kingdom is also synonymous with the church. We are added to the church, kingdom after we become Christians. Yes, we most certainly believe the whole Bible. Jacob is right when he says who were they talking to. The Jews who had been God 's chosen people needed to believe in Jesus as the Messiah and we are grafted in and become part of the Kingdom, church after becoming Christians. And of course the kingdom is spiritual. Colossians 1:12-15. We are spiritually one with Christ after obeying the gospel. Dwelling in our hearts through faith. Ephesians 3:17 and Ephesians 4:1-7
  • Jacob on Acts 1 - 11 years ago
We we believe the whole bible but take in consideration to whom it is speaking. Before the cross is O.T. doctrine Heb 9:17. The verse you quoted said covet to PROPHESY. So according to that verse one should ardently want to prophesy. The speaking in tongues was needed at Corinth because Corinth see Acts 18:1 had lots of Jews see verse 2 and there was a synagoge beside the place where they were meeting and Jews require a sign 1 Cor 1:22 and tongues are for a SIGN 1 Cor 14:22. Those are verses in their context. Mark 16 and Acts 2 has baptism associated with salvation because it is the Kingdom gospel being preached by a man names Simon Peter who didn 't even know of the body of Christ mystery. This was revealed to the Apostle Paul Eph 3:1-9. They said what must WE do in Acts 2. This is as a Nation because the KINGDOM is being offered to the JEWISH NATION see Acts 3:19, Rom 11:26-29, Heb 8:8-12, Jer 31:33-34, 33:8,50:20, Dan 9:24. No one is saved like Acts 2:38 again. Acts 16:31 shows how an individual is saved. What must I do to be SAVED? Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and THOU SHALT BE SAVED.
  • Bill on Acts 1:3 - 11 years ago
In His final forty days on earth before ascending to heaven, Jesus spoke to His disciples of the things pertaining to the kingdom of God Acts 1:3 . His future Messianic kingdom on earth was the burden of His heart from the very start of His public ministry repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand and it was on His heart to the very end. Yet, His focus was not merely on the fact of the millennial kingdom or the nature of it. Much had already been said by the Old Testament prophets concerning the coming kingdom. Repeatedly, through the synoptic gospels, we find Jesus honing in on the requirements for living the kingdom way of life here and now, which then qualifies one to inherit the coming millennial kingdom.

Whether or not a person believes, speaking in tongues is right. If it were not so then God would not have let it be written in the Bible. A question was asked on the day of Pentecost and an answer was given by Peter, Acts 2. There are examples in the Bible. I have not read anywhere where Jesus stated that baptism alone saves you. I have not read anywhere where Jesus stated that all you need is to be baptized and you are saved. What I have read is where Jesus stated that you must be born again of water and of spirit in order to enter and see into the kingdom of God. In regard to Paul, 1 Corinthians 14: 39 Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and FORBID not to speak with tongues. These tongues he is referring to is the evidence that a person has when they are filled with the Holy Ghost. The word covet means to want ardently esp. something that another person has . If I can say it like this, Paul was saying to us and the Corinthian church that we should want this gift and evidence of speaking in tongues. In the end, do we throw away part of the Bible or do we believe the whole Bible?
  • Joni G on Acts 1 - 11 years ago
The Bible plainly says if one believes in Christ and is baptized they will be saved. Jesus said that. He said it that settles it. We have the priviledge of seeing, reading the birth of the church in the Acts of the Apostles. The prophecy of Joel was fulfilled that Pentecost day. Peter says it was in Acts 2. When the last of the people died out, that had hands laid on them, so did the tongues, so please don 't respond to me anymore about this. Read 1 Corinthians 14. There were other gifts. I believe the Bible, not people. So many people argue about which spiritual church is right and that is wrong. People are not rightly dividing the truth. It is not wrong to speak the truth but it seems most all think they have the market on truth. Jesus and His words only have the truth. God is our final judge and how we handled His Word.

Hello Joni G.: The stammering tongues are those tongues that those people standing there could not understand. That is why the tongues were split. In the end, tongues is the evidence that a person has when they truly have received the gift of the Holy Ghost. It is very sad that people have been tricked into thinking that God has stopped pouring out his spirit upon all flesh as he sees fit. I have experienced this gift myself and others have to very recently. See people who have not truly felt godly sorrow, 2 Corinthians 7: 9 and 10 they make up excuses because they do not understand why they have not received it. So they tell innocent people that they do not need it. This is far from the truth. A person needs to know that they have that gift and the only way is that they speak in other tongues as the spirit gives them utterance. AMEN

You are repeating what you already said. On the Day of Pentecost each person there understood the foreign languages that were being spoken. No stammering, stomping, screaming but the beautiful message if Jesus in their own language. There are no need fir tongues today. There are so many languages in the world today and the Bible has been put into many, many languages so all can obey the Gospel, praise God.

Hello Joni G.: I would like to add to my 2 part response that I just posted 1-1-15. Romans 8:9 "But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. If a person does not have the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in other tongues as the spirit of God give utterance that person is none of his. The speaking in other tongues as God give utterance is what separates the real Holy Ghost from those who claim to have it but do not.

Part 2 of 2: That is what happened on the day of Pentecost this is why they were amazed because the ones that heard them speak knew that those people in the upper room did not speak may languages as they heard that day magnifying God. Then you have the other side of the tongues speaking in a language that no one can interpret unless God gives interpretation. This is a language that is between you and God. This was again spoken of by the prophet Isaiah 33: 19 Thou shalt not see a fierce people, a people of a deeper speech than thou canst perceive of a stammering tongue, that thou canst not understand .

Part 1 of 2: Hello Joni G.: On the Day of Pentecost it states in Acts 2: 3 4 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance . The word Cloven means divided or split. It was one tongue but split into two parts. On the one side you have a language that when spoken others can understand and know that God is being glorified. For example, I heard a minister say that when the Holy Ghost fell while he was preaching through interpretation to rural Chinese people a woman was filled with the Holy Ghost she spake in English and magnified God. She had never been taught or spoke English in her life.

People are filled with the Holy Spirit when the have obeyed Christ according to Acts 2:38. They then walk with the Lord daily. I walk by the Spirit, reject the flesh. I reject the world. I embrace Christianity. I daily study the Holy Word and walk with Christ. I am Jesus daughter Chauntana. I do not talk in Spanish, French or other languages but the Holy Spirit speaks to God for me when I don 't pray for everything I should. I let go of the world years ago.

Hello Bill: You are correct. This was the beginning of the church age and it is extended until the rapture takes place. During this Dispensation of Grace, everyone has to following Acts 2: 38 in order to be saved. There is no way around this. No one will be able to buy their way into heaven, or go because of a certain skin color, status, or education. This is strictly through faith believing and acting upon that faith. Like in the days of old it was stated that obedience is better than sacrifice, 1 Samuel 15: 22.

Hello Joni G.: I do not know what happened to my number 7 in my first post. So I redone it and maybe they will let it come out. Part 7 of 7: I know that Acts 2: 38 is real and you have to have it. I have experienced it myself. I have seen people that have been filled with the Holy Ghost and speak in other tongues as the spirit of God give utterance just like me and how it is written that Peter and Mary and countless of others have experienced.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Acts 1 - 11 years ago
Part 3 of 3: Paul had a gift before he became saved. He spoke many languages. However, it was not the language of the Holy Ghost. He even told the Corinthian church that he spoke in tongues more than them, 1 Corinthians 14: 18. This was his gift. However, the gift of the Holy Ghost he told them not to forbid speaking in tongues, 1 Corinthians 14: 39. The language of man will stop, but the language of God will live forever. In the beginning man spoke one language. Now towards the end of time mankind, through the power of the Holy Ghost, is speaking one language unto God that no man can interpret unless God gives interpretation. This is why the tongues were split on the day of Pentecost to show that one side man will understand and the other side is for God.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Acts 1 - 11 years ago
Part 2 of 3: Gifts and the calling on God are without repentance, Romans 11: 29. This is why people who are not filled with the Holy Ghost God still perform miracles in their lives. Through their faith and because of his stripes we are healed. He did not say you had to be saved to get this benefit, Isaiah 53: 5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him and with his stripes we are healed.

Part 1 of 3: Hello Joni G.: It is good that you love God, but the truth is still the truth. I do not know if they will post this or not, but what the scripture states is true. A person has to have the spirit of God in them in order to be saved. The only way to know that a person truly knows that they have it is that they have to speak in other tongues as the spirit of God gives utterance. This is why God had the writer explain the events on the Day of Pentecost. This is why throughout the book of Acts, especially in Chapter 10 with Cornelius and his household and the 12 men in Chapter 19 that God made sure that it was written that they spoke in tongues. It has not stopped. People are being filled and are speaking in other tongues now in this day and age.

I know that my Redeemer lives and ever prays for me. I know that the purpose of the Acts of the Apostles was to show that the church or the bride of Christ was born on the day of Pentecost and we are supposed to follow the example of acts 2 38 and the Great Commission. We are to be witnesses for Christ as we lovingly point the Way to others. We have to teach others to follow Christ first and then be baptized into His death so they can share in our joyous fellowship with Him and inherit eternal life. After they are new Christians we need to encourage them to study the Word kingjamesbible get a good concordance and have a mentor or someone to help them grow in Christ. Since they received the Holy Spirit through baptism, He will be guiding them into all truth. We need to be Jesus for them to model a life well lived. We need to teach them to pray as well. We need to teach them to wear their armour as in Ephesians 6. Their lives will start impacting others as they see Christ through them.
  • Joni G on Acts 1 - 11 years ago
I understand what you are saying but to say someone who has followed acts 2 38 but doesn 't speak in tongues is wrong. In the first century not all spoke in tongues. Some had other gifts. Not all are a head. Not all are feet nor hands or we would not have a body. The Holy Spirit has brought me along and helps me grow fruit for Christ. I am maturing daily. I have been persecuted for the cause of Christ. I love Him. He is my Savior. You cannot take Christ away from me. The Holy Spirit has helped my prayers to go deeper in Christ. I have seen thousands of answers to prayers. Christ is my redeemer.

Part 6 of 7 People are now trying to rewrite the King James Version and edit out what it takes to get saved. They have Bibles that edit out the blood of Jesus Christ. They have changed so many words around until some of the scriptures and their true meanings are hardly recognizable. Who do you think is behind this? It is not God. God is not in these new fangled Bibles that leave out important events, Him, and salvation. There is a new movement called Chrislam that is combining the Bible and the Quran. This is not of God. The Bible talks of the true God. The Quran talks of Ali. They are different. God lives.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Acts 1 - 11 years ago
Part 5 of 7 You have to do more than believe. You have to act on your beliefs and follow Acts 2 38. Faith without works is dead, James 2 17 and James 2 26. The devils believe and tremble, James 2 19, so just believing does not get a person into heaven. It really doesn t. If following Acts 2 38, were not so then God would not have let Luke write of the experience and the words of Peter in the Bible. Some people say that if everything was written in the Bible then it would be too big to carry. However, look at it from this point of view God let the most important things be carried down throughout time so that people can continue to get saved.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Acts 1 - 11 years ago
Part 4 of 7 I have studied a lot of religions and where they got their start, but there is only one faith and one name under heaven whereby we must all be saved, Ephesians 4 5 One Lord, one faith, one baptism Acts 4 12 Neither is there salvation in any other for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved . The faith is truly believing in the Apostles doctrine and truly believing in Jesus Christ that he is both Lord and Christ.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Acts 1 - 11 years ago
Part 3 of 7 I do not know if the people of this website will print this but it is fact. All of my saved life, one thing I have come to know is that when God sends me to a place or brings people into my life and open up a door for me to speak he is trying to get someone s attention and correct a lot of things that have been taught incorrectly. This is my job. God s love, mercy, and grace are abundant, but death has no age or time limit on it. So God is trying to get people s attention before it is too late and there will not be any other chance. The reason people are not being filled because they have not felt that godly sorrow. They have not let go of the world in their hearts.
  • Evangelist Chatauna Robinson on Acts 1 - 11 years ago
Part 2 of 7 Peter stated in Acts 2 39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call , notice there is no time limit on this statement. During the Azusa Street Revival many were saved and filled with the Holy Ghost and spoke with other tongues as the spirit of God gave them utterance. Fast forward to now, God is still pouring out his spirit upon all flesh the problem is that a lot of people do not teach what it takes to get filled.
