  • WHAT IS THE GODHEAD - In Reply - 4 years ago
The word Trinity came through the Catholic religion. Triune means three.

God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit are called THE GODHEAD in scripture; in the approved KING JAMES BIBLE.

There are many, many scriptures showing the Godhead working together; and speaking to each other.

Paul clears it up in ROMANS 1:

    18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who HOLD THE TRUTH in unrighteousness;

19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath SHOWED IT unto them.

20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and GODHEAD; so that they are without excuse

21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

[The Scriptures about the Godhead. Sometimes called "Let Us..." in some passages. These scriptures are evidence of all 3 persons of the Godhead speaking to each other.]

    Genesis 1:26, 3:22, 11:7

    Isaiah 6:8

    Romans 1:20

    Colossians 2:9

    Acts 17:27-30

    1 John 5:7

    John 10:30

    (there are many more)

I hope this helps you. Mishael

Hi Jasmine, you asked several questions but I will just address your first question about God plural. It's plural because God is a triune being composed of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Beware of anyone pushing their own ideology and twisting scripture in order to accomplish their desired outcome. The Bible already says what it means and because it says this about God I choose to believe it.

Here are verses describing that. God bless.

    John 1:1

    1 John 5:7-8

    Genesis 1:26

    Genesis 11:6-7

    John 10:30

    John 8:19

    "Hi Cathy.

I concur with Mell and brother Jesse.

I would like to highlight a few things,

1st. The lord uses that staff to shepherd only his own.

2nd. The fact that after we become a part of the sheepfold and a staff is needed to keep his sheep in line It means two things. One is the sheep definitely will stray without the keeping power of our Great Shepherd.

Secondly, if we supposedly come into the sheepfold and get lost, We were never really part of the sheepfold and the Lord was never our Great shepherd.

It reminds me of John 10:25-30. "Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me.

But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

I and my Father are one."

What is Salvation? "Asked by Lala."

    "Answer"

    Salvation is life!

Salvation is a new creation in you performed by God.

Salvation is when "GOD TRANSFORM YOU" after you truly believing and trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ. You have been transformed from dead to life. we're not perfect but we are transformed.

Here's a few old testament scripture that gives a description of salvation and how it's performed.

Deuteronomy 30:6. And the LORD thy God will CIRCUMCISE thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live. "Here you see the lord cutting away filthy flesh from your heart."

vs. 8. " This is what God causes you to do after cutting away the "flesh".

"And thou shalt return and obey the voice of the LORD, and do all his commandments which I command thee this day."

    Jeremiah 24:7.

    Jeremiah 31:33-34.

    Jeremiah 32:38-40.

"I like vs 40! Eternal Security found in the old testament!

( And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me)

    Ezekiel 11:19.

Ezekiel 36:25. Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I CLEANSE YOU.

Ezekiel 36:26-27. "Salvation is a cleansing!"

Salvation is a transformation by Gods spirit in you, and that comes by way of Jesus.

What it means to be in Christ Jesus is to be baptized in the (name) of Jesus, this how we take part in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus. after that we receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. this is the beginning of the true church as written in the book of Acts 2:38. there is no other way to be in Christ Jesus. you can't get there any other way. You can't say a sinners prayer, or accept Jesus into your heart, or just confess his name, There is NO Scripture for that anywhere in the Bible. John 10:1Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. Jesus said in John 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture. Jesus gave Peter the (key) to the door, in Acts 2:38. IT Is the Only way. and to this I say, 2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

    Revelation 10

    Is that you Elijah?

vs 1 The angel with his right foot on the sea, and left foot on the earth is Jesus (mirroring the 2 beasts inRevelation 13, rising from sea & earth).

Revelation 10:5-6And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth lifted up his hand to heaven, 6 Andswareby him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:

vs 5-6 are paradoxical because Jesus says all creation is from God, where Christian's are sworn to saying that Jesus created all. The dichotomy. John 10:30

vs 7 We are reminded that God has plans to end this age at the 7th trumpet.

vs 8 Jesus gives the prophet the little book, the Word of God (Bible) to eat.

vs 9-10 Since it's sweet in his mouth, then bitter in his belly, it must be before the 6th trumpet, day of the Lord, and the terrible judgment to come.

Revelation 10:11And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings.

vs 11 This is a GREATEST prophet, Mat 11:11, whom we were promised. This introduces Elijah's ministry, before the day of the Lord. Elijah is to preach the word of God, salvation, on the backdrop of the day of the Lord, Malachi 4:5

Rapture commentary. This subject; along with many others can be either over or under emphasized in our meditation; study and application. We are to "encourage one another" with the words relating to the coming of the Lord ( Romans 14:19). To escape wrath for those that make the Rapture has to mean even; and especially the first seal for several reasons. First of all; Christ personally is the only one who is able to open the seals ( Rev. 5:1-7). Second; a STRONG Delusion is going to come for those who do not LOVE the truth so that they will believe the LIE ( 2 Thess. 2:11). The covenant with Death and Hell ( Dan. 9:27; Isaiah 28:18) will commence. The restrainer will be removed ( 2 Thess. 2:6) that indicates the Spirit working as He does now in the church age.

Judgment begins at the house of God ( 1 Peter 4:17). There are some; who are living rebellious lives now and whose hearts are far from Him who may identify as "Christian"; others never have identified as believers. Whether any truly Born Again individuals are "left behind" or not; it is healthy to read all scriptures. Surely not everyone who professes Christ is "praying always to be worthy to escape ALL that is to come; and to stand before the Son of Man ( Luke 21:36); nor are they like the Philadelphia church to be "kept from the hour of trial" to encompass all the world ( Rev. 3:10). The "fire" of testing our works at the Bema Seat for those who have much wood and stubble will result in them being saved but suffering loss ( 1 Cor. 3:10-11). Many clearly are asleep at this hour; but in any event those who are His will hear His voice ( John 10:27).

The focus of the Rapture tends to be skewed on individual experiences related to visions or dreams on the subject. The Body of Christ is involved in actively being present during His judgments on the earth. Psalm 91:8 shows how we shall only see the judgment of the wicked from afar. We shall rule and reign with Him after He returns ( Dan. 7:27).

    Hello, Nadine

1 Timothy 6:16 says that God dwells in unapproachable light which no man has seen nor can see.

Psalm 115:3 says 'Our God is in heaven."

In Psalm 139, David speaks that there is no place he can go that God is not there.

Ephesians 1:23 says that God fills all in all.

Jesus says in John 10:30 says "I and the Father are one." and in John 10:38 Jesus says, "I am in the Father and the Father is in Me."

Then in John 14 Jesus speaks that "If anyone loves Me, he will keep my word: and My Father will love him. We will come to him and make our abode in him."

From these Scripture we learn several things about God.

    1) God is transcendent- which means that He lives apart from all he has created and cannot be apprehended by our normal, limited, human abilities unless he reveals Himself to us, regardless of whether we are believers or not.

    2) God dwells in heaven, with the angels and all other spiritual beings

    3) God is everywhere at once-this is called being omni-present. His Being fills the universe. There is no part of the universe where He is not, regardless of whether we are believers or not

    4) God is also-which means He is close at hand, near us. He is involved with us, regardless if we are believers or not

    5) God lives within each believer. The Father lives in the believer, The Son (Jesus) lives in the believer, and the Holy Spirit lives in the believer. God does not live within unbelievers. This union is privilege of believers in Jesus only!

    Hope this helps, Nadine.

    Hi Adam

Your opening comments are very interesting.

The things you say of me are exactly what you are doing.

You also didn't address the passage in 1 Cor 15:45, you totally ignored it.

Luke 3:38 Adam is called the son of God. Jesus is compared to him.

He is also the son of God. The two Adams. The first one failed the second one didn't.

Jesus is now at the right hand of God and Jesus has been given all power from God.

Jesus will reign until the last enemy is destroyed and that enemy is death.

Then Jesus gives everything back to God and is subject to him. 1 Cor 15:28

You say I denied Jesus divinity. What do you mean by that? Jesus is at Gods right hand.

He is Gods son. He is in a very divine position.

But is he God? No, he is the son of God. No ware in the scriptures is he called God the Son.

Lets look at some of the scriptures you sent me.

    John 14:6 Consider John 5:30, 6:38, 7:16, 14:24,31

His words were his Fathers not his own. The doctrine he spoke wasn't his. He didn't do his own will but his Fathers.

This is why Jesus said I and my Father are one. John 10:30

The Jews accused Jesus of saying he was God. Where did he direct them? Psalm 82:6-7

The scripture called men gods. They were the rulers of Israel. They were Gods representatives.

1 John 5:7 This verse is very interesting. It is not included in a number of other versions.

These are American Standard Version, Bible in Basic English, Easy to Read Version, English Standard Version, Good News Bible,

International Standard Version, Revised Version and World English Version. Why is it not included in these versions?

Jesus was sent and the one sending is greater then the one being sent. John 13:16

Jesus was in the beginning with God in that God new what man was about. Man would need a saviour.

Geneses 3:15 The seed of the woman. Before Abraham was, I Am.
  • Adam - In Reply on 1 John 1 - 4 years ago
Hi Jim, just noticed your comment about denying Jesus's divinity. People try to do that from time to time, but in order to do so requires cherry picking one verse, twisting it, then ignoring the mountain of other verses in the Bible. In this case you're conflating God's son with the phrase 'sons of God' which was used in a general sense. The same unsound logic can be applied to twist anything else into what you want it to mean. It's pretty hard to deny verses like John 1:1 that clearly say Jesus is God though. It takes mental gymnastics to escape the truth of such verses. Jesus in Isaiah 7:14 is called Immanuel which literally means "God with us" but its up to each person whether they want to accept Jesus or deny Him. 1 John 2:22-24

Do you consider yourself a Christian? To be a Christian means you follow Jesus Christ and if you don't believe Jesus is Lord then that is similar to what nonbelievers think. Some even admit who Jesus is, but still stubbornly won't accept Him. It's a spiritual battle. Matthew 7:21

John 14:6 - No one comes to the Father (also God) but through Jesus.

1 John 5:7 "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one."

John 10:30 "I and my Father are one."

John 8:19 "if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also."

Philippians 2:5 - 2:8 "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:"

2 Corinthians 5:19 "To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation."

John 1:3 - All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

    John 20:28

Pretty hard to disregard all these Biblical truths about Jesus. He became flesh and died for you. Have you tried praying and asking who Jesus is and to reveal that to you?
  • Chris - In Reply on John 10 - 4 years ago
Hello Quentin. As you continue to read in John chapter 10 ( John 10:22-39), you will find that the Jews wanted to enact the Law of stoning for anyone who commits blasphemy (v33); and that Law is found & enacted in Leviticus 24:10-23.

And again the Jews wanted to kill Jesus because of His further claim to divinity ( John 10:34-39). At the first, Jesus claimed that He & His Father God are One (v30) and at the second, Jesus said that He is the Son of God (v36). Both are strong claims that He & God are One in Essence & Purpose. If Jesus had just said that God had sent a special Prophet to bring God's Word to the people, He might have not been hounded as He was - but then Jesus would have lied to save His Skin, which He could never do. But even before His accusers, He remained faithful to His Father & to His Divinity in the Godhead.

The Jews constantly schemed to rid themselves of this Jesus, but Jesus' time had not arrived for His death for mankind's sins. But when they finally accused Jesus for His Claim of being God's Son ( John 19:7), they would have been extremely satisfied when Pontius Pilate finally acceded to their demand ( John 19:16) & ordered His Crucifixion. The Jews finally got rid of this Man who searched their hearts & accused them in their innermost being. Their position & wicked hearts were no longer under Divine Inspection for now, but their sin remained, as Jesus told Pilate, "he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin" (v11).

29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

30 I and my Father are one.

25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

27 She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.

I believe that we , the gentiles , non Jews , r the sheep from the other fold . Christ came to bring the good news or Gospel , of the Kingdom , firstly to physical Israel or Jews by birth or those who had converted to Judaism . After his death and resurrection the apostles and other disciples carried the good news all over the world and eventually , the printing press was invented so that the Bible is available almost everywhere now . There r still one or two countries where u might find it hard to get a copy , but not too many . Thanks to God for His marvelous work and mercy to all flesh .

Precious Sister GiGi, How are you feeling today? You're on my heart and ALWAYS on the heart of The Father! Im lifting you up in prayer today. God is SO so good!

Mark 11:23, Oh Lord, hear our prayers. We're casting mountains into the sea today with our mustard seed faith. Remove all hindrance as we make our petitions known today. Bind up all opposition. Lord heal our diseases, lift our heavy burdens, and save our lost loved ones and most importantly speak Lord, we're listening.

    John 10:27

We rejoice and give thanks! All of the praise, honor, and glory. You alone are worthy.

Isaiah 40:31, we're waiting upon You Lord. Renew our strength.

Hear all that bring their prayers here to the boards seeking a touch from You. We ask You to answer each prayer and be merciful to us all.

Bless, protect, and strengthen all that are ministering and laboring in the Kingdom today. Help us to give You our all. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

    Hi Benjamin.

Good question, and the answer is no. I will share a few of many scripture that testifies Jesus Christ is the only way.

John 14:6. "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

John 10:7-9. Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.

All that ever came before me are "thieves and robbers:" but the sheep did not hear them.

I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

( THE THIEVES AND ROBBERS IS JUDAISM OR ANY OTHER RELIGION. )

Acts 4:10-12. Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.

This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.

Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Here's what and how we're accepting.

    Romans 10:8-10. But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

This is not a mere "Profession". It's a genuine change of heart!

The Holyspirit convicts a sinner of sin drives them to repentance, falling on Christ for mercy.

    God bless.

No. There are 67scriptures with the word GOVERNOR in it. Go to the Search Box (out on the red entry page) and type: Roman Governor

[The Holy Spirit is the 3rd person of the Godhead; you'll find that word in the Book of Romans chapter 1:20]

The Scriptures about the Godhead. Sometimes called "Let Us..." in some passages. These scriptures are evidence of all 3 persons of the Godhead speaking to each other.

    Isaiah 6:8

    Romans 1:20

    Colossians 2:9

"For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and GODHEAD so that they are without excuse:"

    Genesis 1:1

    The Father purposes

The Word (Jesus) speaks. ( John 1:1)

The scary thought is that apart from being saved; anything we perceive as "spiritual" truly is in some form representative of Satan. For those who He has called and chosen; insight is often given of God through the Creation and in the process involved until the actual time on earth when one is saved. Even if we are saved; there is scriptural mandate to NOT create any image of God; represented by creatures in heaven above or the earth below.

It should be fairly clear that Satan himself is not going to readily appear as to how he actually is; that is coming to "steal, kill and destroy." ( John 10:10). Whatever Hollywood has represented or other entertainment venues is merely man's representation. He is certainly NOT currently in hell; and when he is cast there it will be endless torment so he isn't there with a pitchfork enjoying some sort of authority. The confusion over this is perhaps over the verse mentioning that he used to have but no longer has any control over those who have passed. Hades USED to have a place of comfort and a place of torment; Christ was said to have declared his victory and took captivity captive (i.e. the saints were taken to heaven from the paradise section ( Ephesians 4:7-10). God is the creator of all souls; and hence God Himself was the one who couldn't allow access to the Father until in time and space the sacrifice was complete of His Son for our propitiation. Satan just acts as the "accuser of the saints" and will until he is cast to earth ( Rev. 12:10). He has gone from an anointed Cherub (who it would seem was a creature without wings) to having access but not rule to heavenly places and transiting through the 2nd heaven; to the Tribulation when he is cast to the earth with his angels. As with anyone in authority; he rules over all the "powers and principalities" mentioned in Ephesians 6. To the world and lost he appears as an "angel of light" ( 2 Cor. 11:14). He is limited in time and space; his minions act as emissaries

    Jesus Christ is God:

Deity is the only explanation for all that He was and all that He did.

    (1) He was pre-existent with the Father. "The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made" ( John 1:2, 3, KJV). (Also see John 17:5 and Colossians 1:17.)

    (2) He is the Son of God.

His enemies admitted: "He...said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God" ( John 5:18, KJV).

Peter confessed: "And we believe and are sure that thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God" ( John 6:69, KJV).

Jesus affirmed: "I and my Father are one" ( John 10:30, NIV).

    (3) He was sinless, as only God can be.

Jesus challenged His enemies: "Which of you convinceth me of sin?" ( John 8:46, KJV).

Peter testified: "...Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example that ye should follow his steps: who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth" ( 1 Peter 2:21, 22, KJV).

Paul stated: "For he...made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him" ( 2 Corinthians 5:21, KJV).

    (4) He forgives sin, as only God can.

The Scribes said: "Who can forgive sins but God only?" ( Mark 2:7, KJV).

Jesus said: "But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins..." ( Matthew 9:6, KJV). (Also see John 8:11.)

Peter wrote: "Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed" ( 1 Peter 2:24, KJV).

    (5) He performed miraculous works.

He healed the sick: Matthew 8:9-13; Luke 4:31-44; 5:12-15; John 4:43 to 5:16; and other references.

He fed the hungry: John 6; Mark 8, etc.

He raised the dead: Luke 7:11-18; John 11:1-46.

    Jesus Christ Became Man:

"And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us...full of grace and truth" ( John 1:14, KJV). (See also Philippians 2:7, 8.)

All these Old Testament scriptures, and the Pharisees and Sadducees did not even perceive that Jesus was the Son of God (Son of Man). He did not behave what THEY THOUGHT the son of God should look like and behave. They saw people being healed - but they thought he was possessed. Here's the Godhead scriptures.

The Scriptures about the Godhead. Sometimes called "Let Us..." in some passages. These scriptures are evidence of all 3 persons of the Godhead speaking to each other.

All working together. Jesus came to show us the Father, as Emmanuel.

    Matthew 1:23

Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God WITH US.

Here are scripture links about Jesus CHRIST ministry, the Bible however indicates HIS open ministry longer than a year on earth.

Luke 3:23, people take that scripture & add holidays & other events to draw a timeline.

    It doesn't actually say that Jesus CHRIST ministry is/was limited to just those years of HIS open ministry because it's everlasting. Luke 1, John 1:1-5, Luke 2:42-50, John 8:58, 1Corinthians 15:47-58, Ephesians 3:9-11, Titus 3:7, John 3:15, Hebrews 5:9, Jude 1:21, Romans 6:23, Romans 5:21, John 17:3, 2Timothy 2:10, 2Corinthians 5:1, 1John 5:11, John 10:28, 1John 5:20,

    Brother Dan.

Sorry my response took so long,

I've been getting off work late all this week.

Dan there is a difference in obeying Gods commandments by the power of the Holyspirit and Putting yourself under the law.

Luke 6:46-47. Is a condition AFTER you have received salvation. "Not an requirement! That rock is Christ, Not the Law!

And the verse you quoted is to Israel. So let's examine that.

Jeremiah 31:31-33. Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:

But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

    You noticed verse 32?

He said NOT according to the covenant that I made with their fathers. Why? "which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them." The Law was given to Israel fathers and they couldn't keep them.

When they, "Israel as a nation' come to Christ in the Millennium that will.

    Just as his Church today!

Right now the Lord is calling out his Church and then he will deal with Israel.

Israel with God taking them by the hand as a husband to them and still coming up short was to drive us to Christ.

2 Corinthians 3:2-11. sums up this whole discussion.

Everything we obey IS by the Spirit of God. Our righteousness is as filthy rags.

    God bless.

    John 10:1.

John 3:16; John 5:24; John 6:37-40,47; John 10:27-29; Romans 6:23; Romans 8:38,39; 2 Corinthians 1:22; Ephesians 1:13; Ephesians 2:8; Ephesians 4:30; Hebrews 13:5; 1 John 5:11-13; Jude 1:24 - are a few examples, all promising the true child of God that his/her salvation is secure forever.

Yet 1 John 3:7-10 reveals the two-faced 'Christian': having every appearance of serving God, but has sin dominating his life; living carelessly & not carefully.
