    This verse to me suggest that we mast remember Jesus Our Lord each and every minus of our life. that bread that gave His disaples is the bread of life and remember when Jesus tought hw to pray,He said "God give us our daily bread", which daily bread Jesus Himself. He took bread and gave thanks is the lesson as human being mast always give thanks to Heavenly Father in every thing that is good and relative to our spiritual life,as Jesus did. When He told them that was His body He tried to emphasis that every time you eat bread remember me.

    Jesus' comment about purchasing swords was to his disciples and about fulfilling the prophecies concerning Him, not about "bearing arms". Jesus never bore or bought arms, and the disciple who cut of the soldier's ear was rebuked and the ear was restored by Jesus. Our weapons are not CARNAL.
  • Dee on Luke 22 - 13 years ago
    @Larry Johnson,
    May the lord Jesus give you knowledge, wisdom and understanding. That when you read these parables, it will be with great desire to build a relationship with Christ. It is not the sword in which we battle against human flesh. But with the sword of the spirit within this spiritual warfare we are in against the principalities.
  • Helen on Luke 22 - 13 years ago
    @Larry Johnson,
    About sword control, we as believers need to read our bibles more and fill ourselves with the word. Remember Jesus’ parable about the seed where some seed fell among thorns and the care of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word and one becometh unfruitful. Sword control is not mentioned in the bible and one's concern with such matters is Carnal and the word of God is Spirit and Life. Paul said save yourselves from this untoward generation.

    @Morris,
    On verse 50:
    1. The servant of the high priest that had his ear cut off and healed by Jesus was named Malchus ( John 18:10);
    2. Astro-theology is the from the prince and power of the air and is the same prince that is behind sorcery, divination, witchcraft, spiritualist, mediums, mentalist, psychics, strange fires, and horror scopes, and whatever else Hollywood can put in the media to brainwash the bible ignorant people.
  • Larry johnson on Luke 22:36 - 13 years ago
    I would wager that the Romans had "sword control" in Jesus' day, and yet here is our Lord telling his followers to acquire illegal weapons! I Believe he would say the same thing to us today except He would say firearm instead of sword.
  • Deacon palmer on Luke 22 - 13 years ago
    The Lord knows your heart and knows all things seen and unseen; he knows who is real and those who say "oh how I love Jesus" and when time comes to bear your own cross, they run with Satan. Because they think its easier.
  • Kevin on Psalms 83:18 - 13 years ago
    Has anyone given any thought that Jehovah and Jesus may be two different persons? These scriptures are not understandable if they both are just one. ( John 14:28) . . .If you loved me, you would rejoice that I am going my way to the Father, because the Father is greater than I am. ( Mark 13:32) “Concerning that day or the hour nobody knows, neither the angels in heaven nor the Son, but the Father. ( Luke 22:42) . . .“Father, if you wish, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, let, not my will, but yours take place.” (If they were one how can they have two wills)? ( John 5:30) I cannot do a single thing of my own initiative; just as I hear, I judge; and the judgment that I render is righteous, because I seek, not my own will, but the will of him that sent me. (Two very distinct persons here). In fact, the Bible is peppered with reasoning that Jehovah and Jesus are two very distinct persons). ( Mark 12:28-30) . . .“Which commandment is first of all?”
    Verse 29, Jesus answered: “The first is, ‘Hear, O Israel, Jehovah our God is one Jehovah,
    Verse 30, and you must love Jehovah your God with your whole heart and with your whole soul and with your whole mind and with your whole strength.’
    Removing Jehovah’s name from His book opened the door for the prophesied apostasy and it worked very well. Jehovah our Creator got lost in the doctrines of men.
  • Takirid on Revelation 14:1 - 13 years ago
    Well Linda why don't we findout and see what Gods word has to say. And I saw, and, look! the Lamb standing upon the Mount Zion, and with him a hundred and forty-four thousand having his name and the name of his Father written on their foreheads.” ( Revelation 14:1) As we have seen, this Lamb is the same as the Michael who cleansed the heavens by casting out the Devil and his demons. He is the Michael whom Daniel describes as “standing in behalf of the sons of [God’s] people” as he prepares to “stand up” in executing Jehovah’s righteous judgments. ( Daniel 12:1; Revelation 12:7, 9) Since 1914 this self-sacrificing Lamb of God has been standing on Mount Zion as the Messianic King.
    3 It is just as Jehovah foretold: “I, even I, have installed my king upon Zion, my holy mountain.” ( Psalm 2:6; 110:2) This no longer refers to the earthly Mount Zion, the geographical location of earthly Jerusalem, in which city human kings in the line of David used to reign. (1 Chronicles 11:4-7; 2 Chronicles 5:2) No, for Jesus, after his death and resurrection in 33 C.E., was installed as a foundation cornerstone on the heavenly Mount Zion, the celestial location where Jehovah determined to place the “city of the living God, heavenly Jerusalem.” Hence, “the Mount Zion” here represents the exalted position of Jesus and his joint heirs, who make up heavenly Jerusalem, which is the Kingdom. ( Hebrews 12:22, 28; Ephesians 3:6) It is the glorious royal situation to which Jehovah elevates them during the Lord’s day. Over the centuries, anointed Christians, as “living stones,” have earnestly looked forward to standing on that heavenly Mount Zion, united with the glorified Lord Jesus Christ in his majestic Kingdom.—1 Peter 2:4-6; Luke 22:28-30; John 14:2, 3.
    4 John sees not only Jesus but the complete body of the 144,000 fellow heirs of the heavenly Kingdom standing upon the Mount Zion. At the time represented by the vision, many, but not all, of the 144,000 are already in heaven. Later in the same vision, John learns that some of the holy ones still have to endure and die faithful. ( Revelation 14:12, 13) Evidently, then, some of the 144,000 are still on earth. So how is it that John sees all of them standing with Jesus on Mount Zion? In that, as members of the congregation of anointed Christians, these have now “approached a Mount Zion and a city of the living God, heavenly Jerusalem.” ( Hebrews 12:22) Like Paul when he was still on earth, they have already—in a spiritual sense—been raised up to be in union with Christ Jesus in heavenly places. ( Ephesians 2:5, 6) Additionally, in 1919 they responded to the invitation, “Come on up here,” and in a figurative way “went up into heaven in the cloud.” ( Revelation 11:12) In view of these scriptures, we can see that all the 144,000—spiritually speaking—are located on Mount Zion with Jesus Christ.
    The 144,000 have no part with the worshippers of the wild beast, who are marked with the symbolic number 666. ( Revelation 13:15-18) In contrast, these loyal ones have the name of God and of the Lamb written on their foreheads. No doubt John, a Jew, saw God’s name in Hebrew lettering, יהוה. In having the name of Jesus’ Father symbolically written on their foreheads, these sealed ones make known to all that they are Jehovah’s witnesses, His slaves. ( Revelation 3:12) Their having Jesus’ name also displayed on their foreheads indicates that they acknowledge being owned by him. He is their betrothed “husband,” and they are his prospective “bride,” “a new creation” serving God with heavenly life in view. ( Ephesians 5:22-24; Revelation 21:2, 9; 2 Corinthians 5:17) Their intimate relationship with Jehovah and Jesus Christ affects all their thoughts and actions.Thats the best I could do, and the rest up to you, weather you except this conclusion or not.

    v.50: Whose ear was cut off which Jesus replaced?
  • Skybounder on Luke 22 - 13 years ago
    In this chapter we see the extreme issues of life: the utter depravity of man, the weakness of the flesh and the marvelous love of God. Judas betrays Jesus (the depravity of man), Peter denies Him (the weakness of the flesh) and our Savior reveals God's love for us in expressing His desire for intimate fellowship (the Passover supper)with those who have embraced him in faith. His readiness to forgive, restore and encourage those who through sin have denied Him underscores that love of God for man and gives us a glimpse of the heart and character of God. How comforting it is to know that boundless love, that forgiveness, that good will toward man as seen here in God's dear Son. It is difficult or rather impossible to fully comprehend the depth, the height, the breadth of that love. We can only "see through a glass darkly" and find comfort, peace and joy in what is here and throughout God's Word revealed about that love.

    I bet Jesus wanted to teach us how to be watchful and pray. Being watchful, he meant that we should at all times be prepared of his coming by practicing holiness, living righteously, being high in integrity, walking in godliness and shunning evil. These are the characteristics of a true believer in Christ and in turn the Holy Spirit produces his fruits in them. When Christ appears in his second coming, he will look for the fruit of the Holy Spirit in his church and all believers as a qualification of their being saved. On prayer, he showed us the significance of communing in which we are taught that without prayer we can never be victorious in our walk with God. Be Blessed

    That is only astro_theology. The man caring the water is Aquarius because we are now out of the house Pisces which was a fish and we know that was the early sign of Christianity. He is asking you now to go into a different house.

  • Walter Persson on Luke 22:20 - 14 years ago
    The Cup,the church,contains the life in Christ.
    The content of this life is Christ's blood
    The blood of Christ is life, forgiveness and the Gospel to be preached,
    So this verse says all to be said about the Christian life.
  • Michael Johnson on Luke 22:36 - 14 years ago
    It is a warning for us to always be watchful. And to arm ourselves for the glory of God in troubled times.
  • Mark on Luke 22:38 - 15 years ago
    This is a tough verse. I was at a firearms training and a fellow student cited this verse as Jesus stating it is OK to carry a concealed weapon. I disagreed with him. A short sword of the time was not a concealable weapon. And I don't believe that was what Jesus was saying at all.
