True believers are those in whom the Spirit dwells and they as a result have a fruit of the Spirit namely; Love, goodness, joy, patience, temperance, faith. Etc

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; Matthew 7:7 Pray and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.

Yes I agree Shane it is what is in our Heart that Matters and this is shown in our Words and Actions Matt 25:31-46 even in our Judgement of others1Cor 2:15-16 which yes we are told to do but not with an Unloving and Condeming spirit as warned in Verses1-5 but according to God's Truth Jn7:24 We too have Sinned and caused Jesus to suffer greatly and our Abba Father who because of His Great Love for us was Seperated from His Beloved Son when Jesus bore our Sins on the Cross 1Pe2:21-25 - Is54. Good and Evil cannot be in Unity that is why when we come close to God in Holiness Satan flees James4:7-17. Than having The Mind of Christ we will All be in Unity. Ephesians6:1-22.

mary B: Thank you for your response and I agree, the prayer offered by the sinner in Luke 18 is not specifically a prayer that most have learned if they have grown up in an evangelical church. However it is my belief that it is more a matter of what is in a persons heart, than a matter of the words spoken. As Jesus says in Luke 18:14, "This man went down to his house justified".

  • Mary B on Matthew 7 - 6 years ago
Yeah but the thing is that there's no such thing as a sinners prayer. It's no where in the Holy Bible.

Yes we must except the Lord Jesus and believe but that alone won't save unless we turn and follow him. Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. plus verse 2 -- Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, but he that doeth the will of my Father

You can have confidence in salvation, follow Jesus and be obedient at the same time. It's a false assumption to assume that just because the Bible is true about losing your salvation in Hebrews 10:26 that a Christ follow must live in fear? No, if you're following Christ in obedience you have freedom. Matthew 10:28, John 14:15, Matthew 12:31-32, Matthew 7:21. I believe what the Bible says. Hitler would go to heaven according to your once saved always saved belief.
  • Adam - In Reply on Hebrews 6 - 6 years ago
According to Matthew 12:31-32 if a Christian chooses to blaspheme the holy spirit they absolutely will not be forgiven. Even angels already in heaven still had the freewill to rebel against God. Humans on Earth including Christians absolutely still have freewill and sadly do turn and denounce Jesus and commit blasphemy. The Bible is crystal clear those Christians will not be saved. Matthew 7:21.

Rodney- Jesus tried to help every suffering person he came into contact with regardless of their religion. We are to emulate the character of Jesus. Matthew 5:44 Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you
  • Adam - In Reply on Galatians 3 - 6 years ago
The Bible already covered this. The answer is no, you can't just do whatever evil you want assuming you're covered by grace and expect to get into heaven. Matthew 7:21, Romans 6:1, John 14:15. Even satan believes, so believing isn't enough. A Christian must follow Jesus which is an active role, not passive. Revelation 3:16. Satan has deceived people into believing they can sin all they want and don't have to be obedient or follow Jesus. The Bible refutes that.

Verse 6: An indication to exercise discrimination when giving or offering charity to those less fortunate. Should we give example to non-believers or followers of other religions if in dire straits? or is this just supporting the devil his evil doers? It is written 'love thy neighbor as thy self' but is this for neighbors who are believers in Jesus Christ? Lots to consider here...

Hello, check out Matthew 18:3. Children up to a certain age of mental development are considered innocent and blameless. I believe those who die will go to heaven. God forgives us of sin with no limit on frequency or severity if we are genuinely following Jesus. 70x7 and far beyond. Heb 10:17. Note that many think they're Christians following Jesus, but are not. Matthew 7:21-23. God bless.

Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leads to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: Because strait IS the gate, and narrow IS the way, which leads unto life, and FEW there BE that find IT.

Thomas, you replied to my comment which already answered your question. Did you not look up the first verse? Other examples are easily found through search, like John 14:6, John 3:16, etc. A Christian is a follower of Christ. If you do not follow Christ, you're not a Christian. If you're not a Christian you won't enter heaven, no matter how 'good' you claim to be. Matthew 7:21-23 is proof.
  • Adam - In Reply on Job 1 - 6 years ago
"All sins have been forgiven forever. So, everyone will go to heaven, everyone. I guess Satan or no Satan, it doesn't matter."

These 3 sentences are untrue. Romans 10:9, John 1:9 One must become a Christian follow Jesus to be saved. Matthew 7:13-14 - most WILL NOT be saved and will go to hell. One of satan's lies is to convince people he doesn't matter or doesn't exist 1 Peter 5:8, 1 John 3:8.

When in heaven's name did amy of us ever become perfect or will become perfect on this earth. The point is we are forgiven. We cannot on our own power get it right before judgment day. We have to solely depend on God. That is what getting it right means..relying on God. We cannot be perfect or get anything right before judgment day. Jesus is our perfector.
