I beleive that it is speaking of the power of listening to God's word. It makes me understand that hearing is used as,a,word because God's word is alive. Thank you for sharing this bread of life.

Ps 18:31 reads:"For who is God except our Lord? Who but he is a rock?" Most people say this is speaking of God the Father, but in Romans 10:9 Paul applies this Scripture to Jesus when he says that "Jesus is Lord" or "Jesus is the Lord." In other words, he is saying that Jesus is the God of the OT and not the Father. I know this is new information to many but it is true. Amen

How can you say that Jesus is Lord but by the Holy Spirit Yet at that time in reading Romans 10.9 he was not Lord of your life as you had not yet said that Instead we should say That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
  • BSP on Romans 10 - 8 years ago
Verse 17~In order to build faith we must constantly hear the Word of God. This we can do by reading the Bible and making sure to really listen to it by applying it in our lives.

    Hi Doreen,

I read your desire/interest for 'salvation' and you seem unsure.
Romans 10:19 If we shall confess the Lord Jesus with our mouth and believe in our heart that God had raised Him from the dead, you SHALL be saved.
1st John 5:13 These things I have written unto you that you may KNOW that you have eternal life.
    Trust God's word

Michael (cont.); You dare to say that the Apostle Matthew, who was filled with the Holy Spirit at "THE" Day of Pentecost, and the first to write the Holy Glad Tidings Narrative the same year that the Lord ascended; that HE didn't have a clue? How then did Jesus open their understanding to Scripture, while according to you they did not understand?
  • A disciple on Romans 10 - 8 years ago
Michael; You wrote, " Matthew 7:26 is not to the church, it is to the nation of Israel. Matthew knows nothing about the gentile church age nor does he have a clue about the gospel of grace." First of all, Jesus commanded that All Nations should be made disciples and do all that Jesus has said. What was commanded for Israel, goes also for all who are under Israel!

Michael; How do you know what kind of tree it is except by its fruit? The fountain springs either fresh water or bitter. God is ONE, His Spirit is one, and His Word is one. There is no word or standard for one age, and another one for others later. God hasn't changed His character, nor His purpose and will concerning us. While He waits with patience for men to repent, His judgments are the same.

Michael; You read the Sermon on the Mount, and you think that Jesus was not referring to us? What part exactly was it? The beatitudes? Not being a hypocrite? Loving others and being perfect as our Father in heaven? Doing all these His sayings? What words out of the whole Bible, do you think, DON'T APPLY TO YOU? And do you think the Holy Spirit is going to confirm your words to disregard Scripture?
  • Michael on Romans 10 - 8 years ago

A disciple; you really need to get the context of each chapter in Rom.
Ch. 1-5 deals with salvation in the gospel of grace. Ch. 9-11 Paul is speaking about Israel and ‘their salvation” Rom 9-11 took place during the book of Acts when Israel is being dealt with.
They must believe on who He is, their Messiah. Confessing Christ meant admitting Jesus was not a fraud or imposter as in the past.

A disciple: Matthew 7:26 is not to the church, it is to the nation of Israel. Matthew knows nothing about the gentile church age nor does he have a clue about the gospel of grace.
The people in Revelation 20:13 are judged by their own righteousness.

Ephesians 2:8 grace are ye saved through faith not of yourselves 9 Not of works

1 Corinthians 14:33 God is not the author of confusion

Note, vs 9, "that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for" a whole range of sinners, of all stripes. The law and the prophets ceased to speak after John the Baptist. Matt 11:13, Luke 16:15, Romans 10:4, Gal 3:23-24, and finally, "And the law is NOT OF FAITH" Gal 3:12, coupled with Romans 14:23, "for whatsoever IS NOT OF FAITH IS SIN". Folks don't like it, but it is veritable truth...

Nathan; Show me your faith without works! "And every one that hear these sayings of mine, and does them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand.. AND IT FELL: and GREAT WAS ITS FALL!" "..and the dead were JUDGED out of those things which were written in the books, ACCORDING TO THEIR WORKS." The devils also believe and shudder; are they going to be saved?
  • Eutychus on Philippians 3 - 8 years ago
"...touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless." vs 6. Paul here, and only 3 others throughout the N.T. are said to be blameless before the law. Jesus ( Hebrews 4:15), and Zacharias and Elizabeth, parents of John the Baptist ( Luke 1:6). But then, we live under a different law, faith and grace, for "Christ is the end of the law for righteous to everyone that believeth" Romans 10:4.
  • Nathan on Romans 10 - 8 years ago
The End of the Law, The End of Condemnation for those that Believe. There is no Law or Way or Works or Character to make you Righteous. Only Simple Faith.
  • Eutychus on Mark 4 - 8 years ago
I think vs 24, to be one of most precious verses in the N.T. It seems to set forth an important spiritual truth...

You will get out of reading, hearing and studying God's Word, what it is you put into it. "For with what measure you mete, it shall be measured to you again..."

This is a powerful admonition for us to study and to hear His Word. Romans 10:17...

  • Christian on Romans 10 - 8 years ago
Truly Christ is the end of the law...., but worries me how men still hold unto the law and are boldly claiming to be law keepers. And the scriptures said ; for by grace are we saved. Through faith not of works least any man should boast.our salvation began in faith and must be completed in on the finished work of Christ
  • A disciple on Romans 10 - 8 years ago
"For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth." Romans 10:4 Christ is the thing aimed at, the whole point, the sum and substance of the Law's intended meaning and its goal to show us what kind of people we are supposed to be from the beginning. NOT the end, as in it no longer is in effect or has any more right to exist because if we think we can say, that there is no more Law of God, then we might as well say that He has denied Himself and His own Nature which is impossible. The Law teaches us the character and nature of God, in whose image we are made. The Law will be fully enforced under the reign of Christ, and we will rule the Nations by His Law. The Word of God is, that the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the golry of the LORD as the waters cover the sea, and that all Nations shall one day rejoice how there is no Law so righteous as God's Law. And until the Lord returns to set up His kingdom and put away every wicked mouth against Him, that Scripture has yet to be fulfilled.
  • A disciple on Romans 10 - 8 years ago
Christ is the the thing aimed at, the whole point, that which the whole law was intended to show from the beginning. NOT the end, as in it no longer is in effect or has any more right to exist because if we think we can say, that there is no more Law of God, then we might as well say that He has denied Himself and His own Nature which is impossible.

how come no one is mentioning Romans 10:9-10...or even Acts16:29-31...we do have to be careful about false doctrines..what is repentance?? to turn away from the way we used to be...this is not to be seen in the carnal realm but in the spiritual!! Jesus said " the words i speak unto are spirit and are life!!Repentance starts in the Spiritual realm then is seen in the Carnal.

Romans 10:9,- That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. ( Titus 3:5) Not by works of rightousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit.

Romans 11:33-36 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!
For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor?
Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again?
For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.
  • James on Romans 10 - 8 years ago
Wonderful that it is Christ who saves through his death and resurrection. Although it is correct to be humble and sincere when coming to God through Christ the emphasis should solely be on his death and resurrection. Romans 9:16 “ So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.” God bless you all and Praise to Almighty God for his grace and mercy.
