  • S Spencer - In Reply on Revelation 1 - 5 years ago
    Hi Donna.

This is a highly debated topic.

I believe the concept here is NO Polygamy.

God made all of us able ministers with diverse gifts,

We are a new creature in Christ.

    2 Corinthians 3:5-6. Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think any thing as of ourselves; but our sufficiency is of God;

Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life.

  • Tomas - In Reply on Proverbs 7 - 5 years ago
There has been a moral collapse in America of colossal proportions. America has gone from a morally healthy, God-fearing country to a world center of gross depravity and immorality, a modern-day Sodom and Gomorrah. We live in a country that has lost its moral bearings, a country that doesn't know right from wrong. It is a society where shocking, numbing, gut-wrenching things are happening. Our supreme court has openly affirmed the dominance of the rights of gays. Our country has openly taken its stand - a stand against Goodness, Righteousness, and Morality. It has affirmed its commitment to Immorality and Depravity.

The position of the Bible on homosexuality is crystal clear. There is no ambiguity in it. Its position is that it is the wickedness of the n-th degree, that it leads to hell, that those who practice it will be damned.
  • Tomas - In Reply on Proverbs 7 - 5 years ago
Homosexuality is a grievous sin and has severe consequences, including AIDS, STDs, etc. Homosexuality is demonic, and any who practice shall be cast into the lake of fire and burn and be devoured by the worm--for eternity.

Thank you Sacha for your comment. Now this thread you refer to, I do remember. I know that many don't believe in a literal place of suffering & eternal torment, as those who refer to themselves as Jehovah's Witnesses believe the same. All that we know of such a place is found in God's Word, so it boils down to whether we accept what is given or treat those passages as somehow lacking in actuality & just a vivid description of a soul's abandonment.

Sacha, you are well read in the Scriptures, so I need not list even some of those passages which speak of suffering & an eternal torment. I would say that many of the people I've spoken to who also don't believe in a place of suffering, usually cannot fathom how a merciful loving God could consign anyone to such a place - surely there must be some respite & future forgiveness or else, the sinner must just disappear into non-existence into the earth.

Simply put, why I believe in a literal place of punishment & torment is because OF THE CROSS. You & I know that all of mankind are sinners & our sins have separated us from God ( Isaiah 59:2). So why should God provide such a Sacrifice for us? Since we ALL have to die physically, why not just let us "eat, drink & be merry" for only the grave lies before us?

Did Jesus, the Son of God, willingly lay down His Life just to give us better option of deliverance than just returning back to dust? True, the prospect of living eternally in God's Presence ought to be our desire, but for me (& from the preaching of Jesus & the apostles), the CERTAINTY of eternal torment (for my sins & rejection of God's salvation) is equally compelling for me to flee the sinful life & cleave to the One Who gives new life & hope. If there wasn't a hell, then God fails as a God of justice, as death alone is insufficient punishment for sin. ( Matthew 25:41). The fact that God provided us a place at Calvary proves that His Love was so great that warranted our preservation from a place far worse than death.

  • Chris - In Reply on John 3:13 - 5 years ago
Hi Sacha. Since you haven't attached your comment to the original thread, I'm unsure what you're referring to. I cannot remember ever writing to Earl or anyone about those who have died & come back to life or experienced near death experiences. If you can find that thread, I might be able to respond properly.

I simply asked if anyone hears the word of God. Then if you do, Repent for the kingdom of God is at hand.
  • Sacha on John 3:13 - 5 years ago
The word of God is not complicated ,it can be complex but not complicated ,God is not the author of confusion ,we humans can complicate matters for ourselves whe n we come to the Bible with preconceptions of what we are going to find ,we all have them about all kinds of things ,suppositions ,presumptions and asumptions ,when i told one of my step daughters that no where in the Bible are there female angels she was stunned ,if we come to the Bible looking for comfort we will find it ,if we come to the Bible looking for smooth words we will find them ,if we come to the Bible with a truely open mind and heart ,leaving all our memories of fables and magical tales and all our own desires of what we want and expect to find ,we will find the Truth . The Truth shall make us free .

To JB, on Revelation 1; Compare our hearts to a landfill, the more garbage we put in the more it fills up, untill it flows out the top. We can try to cover up the garbage but the stinch is still there. Were better off if we never put the trash in there! An ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure. God Bless!
  • Sacha on John 3:13 - 5 years ago
Hi Chris again ,i think im going to be very cheeky now so i ask you to please forgive me ,you asked Earl what he would say to people who have died and come back or experienced near death experiences , i personally wouldnt say anything to them ,if thats what they or anyone else wants to believe thats fine by me ,i am convinced in my own mind of my beliefs but i honestly dont feel the need to cinvince any one else , if some one asks me what i believe i will tell them but if others dont believe what i do im ok with that ,to me most of the time ,the Bible is very simple and straight forward ,it hasnt always been so but i just keep reading and praying and meditating on things and im convinced of my conclusions .I dont go on any other religious sites ,you tube etc ,i know what i know and im ok if others dont agree ,may God continue to bless you and all yours .
  • Sacha on John 3:13 - 5 years ago
Hi Chris ,i noticed you asked Earl about his beliefs ,or lack of ,regarding hell ,i dont mean to but in i promise ,i actually do not understand what it is i am supposed to believe about hell ,genuinely ,what is hell ? Who goes there ? Why ? What happens there ? I honestly dont know ,i guess it doesnt help that i dont believe humans are immortal ,this could be a big discussion and i havent had coffee yet ,i just wanted you and everyone on here to know that there is defo more than one person who doesnt believe in hell as a place of permenant torture for millions of people . God is love ,the soul that sinneth it shall die .We all sin we all die ,some of us will be ressurected to judgement and the rest are just dead . Big topic !

I will just share my insight of this chapter.

Blessed are those who are abiding GODs Law. what ever he does for Gods Glory will bear fruit like the tree in the river bank that bears fruit in ''his Season''. I ask why in His season? His season for God knows the desire of our hearts. God teaches us to wait and be righteous , be still. He may not give us immediate results but never fail us. Remember never rely of our own good works. Gods word is consistent he never fails us nor His promises. and what ever the righteous does it will proper according to gods perfect time.

4- The ungodly are ''not so'' it doesn't says ''are not'' alone. This only means God never closes doors for us sinners or those who haven't meet Jesus yet. Remember God hates sin but loves the sinners. They (ungodly) maybe easily be driven away like the wind But God still gives room for them. Forgiveness..

we all fall short in the glory of God. we are not to Judge others nor condemn.

God knows all of us...all our ways.

6- The way to ungodly will perish. God gives room for the sinners. Forgiveness is what He is giving us.

Our God is the God of all fairness.

God love and bless the righteous.

    God love the Holy.

God loves the doer of His Word

God loves all of us even the sinners and he is calling us to come to Him.

This is How Great His love is.

God is the God of second chances. Blessed be the name of the Lord.

Praise, Honour and Glory to Our God. Amen

  • The Work of the Holy Spirit - In Reply on Matthew 5 - 5 years ago
In my experience, the Holy Spirit most often speaks a scripture to show me which way to go.

I was never good at wondering what other people are thinking. The Holy Spirit already knows what direction your mind is leaning towards. Might as well talk about it. No question is lame. Start some dialog.

One time He said: the Tree is known by its fruit. I read all of the fruit scriptures I could find.

Develop your TEACHER - STUDENT relationship. We need to fine tune our listening skills. Be willing to be in an position of intense listening. He is a real person who just happens to be invisible; living inside your heart.

He has so many roles towards us. Just look Him up in a Bible Encyclopedia sometime.
  • What is Christendom - In Reply on Exodus 14 - 5 years ago
The word Christendom encompasses the Medieval and Renaissance idea of the central place of Christianity in the lives of nations, countries, states, and individuals. The definition of Christendom is a group of people or nations under a Christian set of morals and values.

You'll just have to do some googling on that question, and a bit of digging. I think it's similar to a word we use now: Christianity.

1Ti 3:2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; (the word bishop, elder, and deacon were interchangeable for overseer or leaders of the congregation)

1Ti 3:12 Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.

Tit 1:5 For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:

Tit 1:6 If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.

    Tit 1:7 For a bishop must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;

    God bless
  • WARS in the Bible - In Reply on Deuteronomy 20 - 5 years ago
I'm just going to comment on the skinny of the wars in the Bible.

There were wars that God ALLOWED, and then the wars that God COMMANDED. The book of Joshua is a good book to follow on "wars". It mentions wars and battles.

    "WESLEY'S COMMENTARY for Deuteronomy 20:4

20:2 Speak unto the people - Probably to one regiment of the army after another.

20:5 What man - This and the following exceptions are to be understood only of a war allowed by God, not in a war commanded by God, not in the approaching war with the Canaanites, from which even the bridegroom was not exempted, as the Jewish writers note.

20:6 A vineyard - This and the former dispensation were generally convenient, but more necessary in the beginning of their settlement in Canaan, for the encouragement of those who should build houses or plant vineyards, which was chargeable to them, and beneficial to the common - wealth. Eaten of it - Heb. made it common, namely, for the use of himself and family and friends, which it was not, 'till the fifth year."

In a war that God commanded, normal home building, animal care, vineyard planting would have to be entrusted with other family members.

Life doesn't stop because you are of an age to join. People still get married and become fathers.

There is a kind of harmony in the Books of Samuel, Kings, and Chronicles. Also Joshua.

In 1 Corinthians 12:8 is a group of Ministry gifts that may not be in a position to have home, family, possessions, land. They traveled from place to place. Our times are different with trains, planes etc.

I suggest you use Google to search out Commentaries written by different preachers.

In Google type out: book and verse (you wish to study) and then type COMMENTARY after it.

Sounds like a really good subject to study. Come back this way and let us know what you found.

  • Bro Barney - In Reply on Matthew 5 - 5 years ago
You will have to expound on that question. In Hebrews it says:

Heb 1:1 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,

Heb 1:2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son,

As believers we are indwelt by the Holy Spirit and He speaks to us by way of the Bible. He often works in directing our lives if we will let Him. But we no longer hear "audible" voices if that is what you are asking.

    God bless
  • Bro Barney - In Reply on John 13 - 5 years ago
It symbolizes that Christ washes away our sins and if we do not accept His sacrifice, we have not part in salvation. And yes, He is always there for us.
