    Hi Earl,

Please forgive me to reply to this but I feel to. I understand you don't believe in Hell, or eternal damnation, though I do and to me it seems it was a very important thing Christ taught. To Repent from sins/iniquity and follow Him down the straight and narrow path that leads to life eternal. As He is the way.

The Lord taught not all are going down that path. Matthew 7:13-14. Here He states not everyone is to enter into the Kingdom of Heaven Matthew 7:21. As He stated there shall be some to go away to everlasting punishment but the righteous to life eternal Matthew 25:31-46. Numerous parables of the wicked being separated from the just in the end Matthew 13:37-50.

Though if Luke 16:19-31, is a parable what it states is not hard to see. The man who suffered and begged died and was carried by angels to Abraham's bosom. The rich man who lived lavishly and did not help Lazarus died and was in Hades in torment. Even though he begged for a touch of water He did not receive it. Just being told how Lazarus who suffered was now comforted and he was now in torment. Even when he begged that a message be sent to his family that they repent so they would not end up as he did. He was told that if they hear not Moses and the prophets, they would neither be persuaded by one raising from the dead.

I also don't understand how you think the "fire" of God that tries/chastens us and our works it the same as "eternal fire, torment and punishment".

Could you please explain some of these things? As I see it very dangerous to say a place of eternal damnation does not exist.

Have you ever looked into people who have died, came back to life, and actually experienced a place that is worse than we could imagine? Usually calling it hell and has converted many people to believing in Christ. What would you say to them?

I would never think to tell anyone hell is not real. What if it is and you were wrong? Making people think it doesn't matter what they do?

    Thanks God Bless.

God told the officers of the army of Israel to send home all the soldiers who had unfinished business at home: a home he has not used, a vineyard he has not harvested, or an engaged woman he has not married - let them go home.

Act 16:25 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.

Act 16:26 And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one's bands were loosed.

Act 16:27 And the keeper of the prison awaking out of his sleep, and seeing the prison doors open, he drew out his sword, and would have killed himself, supposing that the prisoners had been fled.

Act 16:28 But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here.

Proverbs 18:22 - Whoso findeth a wife finds a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.

Not every person is going to get married. It's not a law. Apostle Paul was never married...
  • Bro Barney - In Reply on Acts 16 - 5 years ago
I don't know of any passage where Jesus says a man should or should not be married. Paul was a single man and he provided this advise.

Co 7:6 But I speak this by permission, and not of commandment.

1Co 7:7 For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that.

1Co 7:8 I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I.

1Co 7:9 But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn.

    Matthew 16:17-20

And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.
  • Earl Bowman - In Reply on John 3:13 - 5 years ago
Joe, may CHRIST IN US grace us with HIS wisdom and HIS understanding.

If Lazarus and and the rich man is not a parable; it makes Christ's words a lie:

Matthew 13:34 ALL these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in PARABLES;and without a PARABLE SPAKE HE NOT UNTO THEM.

Luke 12:41 Then Peter said unto him, Lord, speakest this parable unto us, or even to all?

The disciples walked with Jesus three and one half years and never understood a word he said; UNTIL he took them aside and explained the PARABLES to them. Today you can't understand the PARABLES; unless CHRIST IN YOU explains them to you. Ask and you shall receive.

Ezekiel 20:47 And say to the forest of the south, Hear the word of the LORD, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will kindle a FIRE in thee, and it shall devour every green tree in thee, and every dry tree: the flaming FIRE shall not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be burned therein.

Ezekiel 20:42 Then said I, Ah Lord God, Doeth he not speak in PARABLES?

Luke 12:49 I am come to send FIRE on the earth; and what will I, if it be ALREADY KINDLED?

Luke 12:50 But I have a baptism to be baptised with; and how am I straightened till it be accomplished!

Matthew 3:11 ......he shall baptise you with the Holy Ghost; and with FIRE.

John 10:6 Jesus spake this parable unto them: but they UNDERSTOOD NOT what things they were which he spoke to them.

Hebrews 12:29 For our God is a consuming FIRE.

Johnny ,hi ,strictly speaking any one who considers themselves a Christian should never ever use violence to any one else ,Jesus is our example and we are supposed to follow him and do as we know he would do in every situation . Also ,i live in england but first and foremost i am a Christian ,God is my King ,im only english because i was born here of english parents ,i actually belong to God . I am also imperfect and dont know what i would do if faced with a violent person who wanted to hurt me or some one i love . Thankfully there is forgiveness with God . I hope i never am put to the test in that way ,also you too Johnny ,keep yourself out of potentially dangerous situations and away from people who seek to provoke confrontation ,stay safe and be cool ,Jesus doesnt want you getting hurt or into trouble !
  • Danielle - In Reply on Acts 16 - 5 years ago
Acts 16:28, Paul shouted, saying do not hurt yourself we are all here. Because the jailer assumed he was going to be killed by the prisoners he was about to commit suicide but Paul intervened and yelled "do not hurt yourself" as the earthquake rumbled the prison releasing the prisoners free.

Does the Bible say winning a soul is the same as winning a nation?
  • Sacha - In Reply on Psalms 1 - 5 years ago
Dear Patrice Rolle ,you are so right ,its some times hard to live in this awful world ,every where there is injustice and extreme cruelty and cold heartedness ,i try to toughen myself up but its not easy ,i have convinced myself that im too sensitive and that its my own fault for expecting better from people ,its easy to ignore the cold hearted atheists , they are not even on my radar and dont have any power to hurt my feelings any more ,but a wound from a fellow Christian can cut very deep i try to remember that we dont really know each other ,we have no idea where each other is coming from or what each other has or is going through in their lives and hearts and minds ,for me the rule is very simple ,try to treat others as you would like them to treat you i didnt come up with that myself as im sure you already know ,stay strong and be happy in Christ .Oh ,and i have to confess that i have broken that rule .

I believe this is God teaching us to be ready to defend ourselves from those who wish to do evil upon us. Yes, the Commandments say not to kill, but it also says to not Covet other peoples things and such. So, the invaders are also sinners because they chose to covet against the nation for their resources and such. So, really the invaders are in the wrong as well. I'm pretty sure God would understanding especially if your nation tried to defend itself first by words (diplomacy) rather than fighting. Although, when your nation is threatened by those who wish to destroy you, you would be willing to fight as well. That isn't to say fighting is good, but rather it is to say you'd do what you must to survive.

Then again if possible you should always defend yourselves with words rather than violence. Violence solves nothing, in fact violence only ever creates more violence. Take the war on terror for example. America has been a war on terror for TWENTY YEARS and COUNTING...

    Question

In numbers 33.8 it says ....and passed through the midst of the sea into the wilderness.

Is this word sea referencing water of the Red Sea as it is further in verse 10 it speaks of the Red Sea.

In regards to hell, it does mention brimstone, a weeping & nashing of teeth, which leads me to believe it is more than just a hole in the ground. You are right that hell is not something that God created. Hell is something that humans unleash upon each other as James describes. Also, in the story of the rich man and Lazarus, Jesus uses proper names, which could indicate that this is not a parable.

... betrothed a wife, and hath not taken her?

does house, wineyard, and wife mean something special?

As I look around at the world and see all the trouble there is, I see the lights of home grow brighter each day. As it says in Luke chapter 21:16, "And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death." Also in Luke chapter 21:25-28, "And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring;" "Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken." "And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory." "And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh." All of these everses show that the day is almost over, and to be ready so that you will know your savior and on that great and terrible day when he looks in The Lambs Book Of Life that you will have a great day. Thank you and I love everyone, PRAISE GOD.

  • S Spencer on the love of God - In Reply on Esther 1 - 5 years ago
    From Dr. McGee:

    Part 1

A young fellow who had been attending a conference with me came up to talk. He had on a funny hat that had "love, love, love" written all over it.

I asked, "Why do you have 'love' written all over your hat?"

"Man, God is love," he said.

"Well," I said, "I agree with you. Nothing could be truer than that."

Then he added, "God saves us by His love."

"I don't agree with that," I said. "God doesn't save us by His love. Can you give me a verse that say He does?"

He scratched his head and thought a while and then admitted he couldn't think of one. "Well," he said, "if God doesn't save us by love, then how does He save us?"

"Very frankly, I'm glad you asked me that question because the Bible says, 'For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast'( Ephesians 2:8, 9). God saves us by His grace."

Then the boy wanted to know the difference. This is how I explained it to him:

God does love you. Don't lose sight of that. God loves all of us. But God cannot, on the basis of His love, open the back door of heaven and let us slip in under the cover of darkness. He can't let down the bars of heaven at the front door and bring us in because of His love.

God is also light. God is the moral ruler of this universe. God is righteous. He is holy and He is good.

That adds up to one thing: God cannot do things that are wrong-that is, wrong according to His own standard.

So God couldn't save us by love. Love had God strapped-we could say it put Him in a bind. He could love without being able to save. I thought you would quote John 3:16 to me. Let's look at what that verse says:
  • S Spencer on the love of God on Esther 1 - 5 years ago
    By J Vernon Mcgee.

    Part 2

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Does it say God so loved the world that He saved the world? No, that's not what it says.

God so loved this world that He gave His only begotten Son. You see, God couldn't save the world by love, because He goes on to say "that whoever" You and I are going to perish. We're lost sinners and God still loves us, but the love of God can't bring us into heaven. God had to provide a salvation, and He paid the penalty for our sins. Now a God of love can reach out His hands to a lost world and say, "If you will believe in My Son, because He died for you-if you will come on that basis-I can save you."

God doesn't save us by His love. God saves us by His grace, motivated by His love.

    We can experience supernatural interactions,

But will still have to except Christ as savior, and the evidence of your Salvation is the fruit being produced in your Life.

    Thank you.
