what is the fourth commandment of GOD

I'm a retired firefighter that lived with the guys I worked with every third day for close to thirty years! One discussion (which most of the time turned out to be arguments )that we would have from time to time was on the subject of Christians drinking alcohol. I realize that back in Bible times that wine was a common drink but I also believe that it was not always alcohol but sometimes grape juice. When Jesus turned the water into wine I don't believe that it was an alcoholic drink simply because why would he make people that were at the marriage supper drunker than they already were if what they were drinking was an alcoholic wine to begin with? We all know the dangers and heart ache that alcohol can bring to a family and individuals! The way I see it is that it is impossible to get hooked on anything that you never try!!

I'm not sure that "We all know what Jesus accomplished." I think that lots of people have written lots of books on just that topic over the past 2,000 years. But to mention just a few that come to mind from Colossians:

"we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins"

"by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him"

"having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself"

"you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses"

"Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross"

"And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it"

How is a man justified, made right before God?

Not by self effort:

"Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin." Rom 3:19-20 (KJV)

We are justified by His grace:

"Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:" Rom 3:24 (KJV)

We are justified by faith alone in Christ:

"Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law." Rom 3:28 (KJV)

Abraham was declared as righteous:

"For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness." Rom 4:3 (KJV)

But clearly, Abraham sinned. He lied on several occasions about his relationship with Sarah to save his hide, for instance.

King David was a man after God's heart. But he was an adulterer and a murderer.

Every day, every Christian sins by commission or omission things we think, say, do, don't say or don't do. But we have an advocate with The Father: Jesus Christ The Righteous One. He is The Only Righteous One.

When we put our trust in Jesus to be our Savior from the penalty of our sin, we are DECLARED RIGHTEOUS, JUSTIFIED. It's an Already But Not Yet thing. We ought to be walking by The Spirit more and more to become more like Him. This process is called Sanctification. One day we will be Glorified: given new bodies and new natures that cannot sin. Until then, we are sinners, saved by grace. Before we believed, we could only sin. As believers we can "will" to sin or to do His good pleasure.

Hey everyone, I am a new born Christian that has found that I may possibly be condemning my wife when my heart desires to preach conviction of sin instead. I'm afraid that I may be doing condemnation when my wife and I are discussing about the bible which often leads her to feeling guilty and in sorrow, rather than peace in coming to Christ.

How may I discuss the what I'm understanding in the bible without acting in condemnation, and instead act more in conviction. I do not want to do the devils work and make my wife depressed with Christianity, which I feel I often do. Can someone please tell me how to discern this and bring light on to how to properly preach about what the bible says without condemning my wife.

In acts 8 vs 13 it says Then Simon believed and was baptized and continued with Philip and was amazed seeing miracles then drop down to verses 20-23 and Peter tells him he has no part in this ministry he tells him to repent and he is bound by bitterness and iniquity, so does that mean simon was not saved ? What does bound by bitterness mean, I have bitterness i am struggling with because of issues with some family members but i know i am saved acts 5 vs 32 says the spirit is given to those that obey him, is it still obeying for instance if I want to watch a movie that has violence, cursing and the like but i make a deliberate choice not to. Confusing sorry

In your own words, you say God appeared to you when you were a small child and offered you life or death and you chose life, because continuing to play was your motive for choosing life. You describe being slain and restored to life and God writing his law in your heart which remains as a hidden seed slowly growing. I am supposing that, that makes you a truth seeker.

So your entire relationship with God is based on that personal experience. A pre-Jesus event in your life, unique to you, that connected your childhood mind with who you thought was God. Of course, that is something you cannot prove. However, trusting the eternal destiny of your soul to that event is absolutely unwise.

After all, your mind was childlike and intent on continuing to play, even in the face of what you describe as a life and death choice.

Never been wise, or as you said in your previous post, to declare yourself wise. I see that as a misleading claim and something you want to hide behind. Other posts show you have already made decisions on scriptural subjects and find fault with others who differ with you. Scriptures not only guide hearts but brains also.

I can't dispute your being "touched", but your being saved is highly questionable if you maintain the claim of a

pre-Jesus assurance of salvation.

Also, your use of the phrase "he wrote his law for her life she would abide..", sounds like you think being good enough saves you.

When "The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us," He laid aside His Divine prerogatives or privileges. Jesus "made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men," says that He emptied Himself, but not of His divinity. There was a song many decades ago called, "He Could Have Called Ten-thousand Angels." Instead, "He humbled Himself and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross."

Jesus had a human nature but He also had a divine nature. He was fully human and fully divine. He had no sin nature as we do. He did many things by His own power as well as relying of The Father and The Spirit. He had ALL His divine attributes.

I believe that this is a physical manifestation of the pre-incarnate Messiah, who Christians refer to as the Second Person of the One Eternal God; one revelation, if you wish, of a multitude in The Old Testament that reveal the Three Persons of The Godhead.

Take this one from Zechariah: there are TWO Persons of the Godhead; God The Father [GTF] and God The Son [GTS]

And the angel of the LORD [GTS] protested unto Joshua, saying, "Thus saith the LORD of hosts [GTF]; 'If thou wilt walk in my [GTF] ways, and if thou wilt keep my [GTF] charge, then thou shalt also judge my [GTF] house, and shalt also keep my [GTF] courts, and I [GTF] will give thee places to walk among these that stand by. Hear now, O Joshua the high priest, thou, and thy fellows that sit before thee: for they are men wondered at: for, behold, I [GTF] will bring forth my servant the BRANCH [GTS]. For behold the stone that I [GTF] have laid before Joshua; upon one stone shall be seven eyes: behold, I [GTF] will engrave the graving thereof,' saith the LORD of hosts [GTF], 'and I [GTF] will remove the iniquity of that land in one day. Here's a passage that has all Three of The Godhead:

"Come ye near unto me [GTS], hear ye this; I [GTS] have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I [GTS]: and now the Lord GOD [GTF], and his Spirit [HS], hath sent me [GTS]." Isa 48:16 (KJVA)

Start at verse 3 and follow who is speaking. The speaker in verse 12 says "I am he; I am the first, I also am the last." That's about as clear a statement of who the speaker is, The Son of God.

"No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him."Joh 1:18 (KJV)

Bottom line: many evidences in the OT of the pre-incarnate Christ and Jacob met Him, in all likelihood.

We actually agree, The short of it is ,I opened up with a question, quoting " Why do we " Blame " the government for our own behavior?

You see we got a constitution created with biblical principles as you said and I agree.

The constitution can't change the heart of the individual just like the law couldn't change the heart of a jew. He's a jew outwardly not inwardly,

Individually the Holyspirit should govern our hearts. The jews was never able to accomplish the law, and Righteousness wasn't to come by it, tho they was inspired and never amended. Its called the ministry of condemnation, And we was never able fulfill the constitution yet it was amended 27 times I think. We are now in the Church age, The spirit takes residents in us we're without out excuses so as an individual Christian we can't blame the Government. but as a nation its scary because we should have a greater influence than any other country, A Christian is known by the love we have for one another, as A Christian nation it shouldn't be no different.

Other countries see us no different than them. Israel was called a degenerate vine, The LORD is the true vine the church is the branches, we bare fruit because we're connected to him not the nation.

As I'm not here to get into any discussion. Just to note a couple things. So you seem to want to read or speak in old English? Do you have some problem with the letter "J"? You said the name "Jon" did you mean "Ion"? The word "justice" you mean "iustice"?

The Tetragrammaton or the four Hebrew letters of the Lords name "YHWH". Which first off Hebrew is right to left so that is backwards from what it is in Hebrew. The letters pronounced "Yod" "He" "Waw" "He" separate. As you can kind of see where people might pronounce it "YaHWeH". In modern Hebrew "Waw" is "Vav". Where "YaHoVaH" comes from. Although from someone who speaks Hebrew it is probably pronounced different than I might say it in English.

Iesus is not pronounced "Jee-Zus" as you state. If some people can't pronounce the first "s" as an "s" that's not my problem and to me no big deal anyway. The Lord searches hearts not how you exactly pronounce something.

These types of things about the name of the Lord very much sadden me and bring much division between people. I was saved by the name Jesus Christ. We truly should set our hearts on things of above. The Word. In the Holy Bible. Love is the key. To produce good fruit for our Father in Heaven and make Him happy. Find real relationship. There is nothing wrong with searching for the truth. Although the internet is flooded with false things. We must be sober and vigilant. Let the Holy Spirit guide you if you have been blessed to receive.

Please don't take what I wrote the wrong way. You must be expecting friction here with the things you posted. I will not be writing on this again but I felt to leave a post.

You stated men are born righteousness, My response was no one is born righteous. Being right right with God doesn't make you sinless.

Our righteousness don't purify the heart

Isaiah 64:6. But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

Christ righteousness has to be imputed on to us. In that case all that truly accepted Christ should be on that list

Job even disagrees with you:

Job 15:14-16. What is man, that he should be clean? and he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?

Behold, he putteth no trust in his saints; yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight.

How much more abominable and filthy is man, which drinketh iniquity like water?

If you believe that's a list of sinless men I'm sure David would disagree with you also.

I agree with the verse you shared, but do not agree with your interpretation of it.

It says: "but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them."

That means Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob did not know His name. That's all it says.

However, your interpreted that to mean more than what it actually says, "God said very clearly, those who call me by "Jehova" do not know me,"

No, God did not say that. For example, you don't know my name unless I volunteer it to you. That doesn't mean somehow that if you say my name that you magically don't know me- or that you would be disowned if you said it.

It's important to read the Bible literally and to not inadvertently add to it.

YHWH's name is not pronounced [Yah-How-Wha] phonetically. Similarly, Iesus's name is not pronounced "Yeh-Shoo-Ah". His name is repeated throughout scripture as Iesus [Jee-Zus].

YHWH's is referred to as "The All Mighty", "The Alpha and Omega", "I Am", "Breath of Life". Saying [Yah-Way], or [Jeh-Ho-Vah] is not his name. YHWH are the letter that express the Lord's name. Similarly, you would call someone name "Jon" [Jay-Oh-En]. It's like trying to say his name by speaking out letters.

Jesus said a number of things at the last meeting that His disciples heard. The Evangelists chose to record what The Holy Spirit lead each to do.

See Mark 16:14-19.

See Luke 24:44-51 and Acts 1:3-8. Seems that Doctor Luke might have run out of scroll writing his Gospel and continued his account at the beginning of The Acts of The Apostles. Acts1:9-11 continues with The Ascension.

John recorded nothing related to this event.

So I'd assume that all these things were said by Jesus and that they saw Jesus ascend to The Father. "But some doubted." Matt 28:17.

The angel of the Lord of the old testament is the same as Jehovah of the old testament and is the same that came in the flesh that we know as Jesus Christ and is now back in the glorified body he has had since he was begotten of the Father. The angel of the Lord is a man in a glorified body, Jehovah is a man in a glorified body. Jehovah set aside his glorified body and took upon himself a body like sinful flesh and was manifest as the man Jesus Christ who died for us to reconcile his brothers and sisters to the Father. Then at his resurrection took back the glorified body he laid down for us. Let's look at some of the scriptures that shed light on this. All angels have glorified bodies like their archangel the angel of the Lord.

Exodus 3:2 The angel of the Lord appeared to him (Moses) in a flame of fire......

Exodus 3:14 And God (Jehovah) said unto Moses (as the angel of the Lord out of the burning bush)I AM that I AM.....

John 8:58 .... before Abraham was, I AM.

Genesis 18:1 And the Lord appeared unto him (Abraham).....

Genesis 18:2 And he (Abraham) lift up his eyes and looked, and lo, THREE MEN stood by him...

Genesis 18:22 And the (two) men turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before the Lord (Jehovah, the third man).

Genesis 32:24 And Jacob was left alone; and there wrestled a man.....

I love god

This is the love of God sewn in my heart. These are the words that God has given me. I return these words to God and show you how much I love God and how i constantly seek him out for myself. I am here to share my simplicity of how God has touched my life. I have never been wise.

The smallest of all three me's

is in my youngest memories..

In the green pastures i will forever find her there ...

Beside the still waters she plays without a care...

By her tiny right hand God led her to this place...

He let her little body fall

And set a choice all Gods children face...

No words were spoken by her Heavenly Father that fleshy ears would hear...

Her soul was gathered in God's love that innocently was without fear...

God restored her soul. By his gift of life. ...is the very breath she breathed..

She was able to see...

There was no veil to divide....

God opened her ears to hear.. upon her heart he wrote his law for her life she would abide..

He planted a seed and its hidden in her heart...

Such a gift found in the words she sews....
